Who else will be missing the light show due to the late date announcement????
We will-11/8 to 11/19

We will be there Nov 21-29th. We could possibly see them on Nov 28th but I don't think we will be able to make it because we are going to be attending the second showing of the Candlelight Processional. I think it will be too hard to get to MGM before they close. So we will be missing them too. :sad1:

Yes, we are disappointed too. We'll be there 11/11-11/21 - our first trip, had read about them and were looking forward to seeing them. Guess we can hope for a change of heart or a soft opening.

Nov. 10-15! And we foolishly booked this trip based on the dates we got to seem for the first time last year...this return trip was decided upon when DD9 said how much she wished grandma & grandpa could see them too...which got the wheels turning and eventually made me decide to treat my parents to this upcoming trip.

What a FOOL I was...I've been burned by Disney. :sad2:

We're going Nov 20-23. Just a short trip for MVMCP and to see the Osborne lights again. We thought. Oh well, maybe next year?

At least we get to go to MVMCP. Unless they decide to delay that too! :lmao: (please don't powers-that-be, we've already bought and paid and have the tickets in hand!)

Don't worry about that, as long as they are charging for MVMCP, they won't cut back those dates!!

Count me in as another member. I saw them last NYE w/out DH, but due to the weather, not all the lights were working and there was no music or snow. DH and I are taking an adults only trip November 9 - 14 and I was hoping that DH would be able to see them and I would be able to get the whole Osborne Lights experience. :sad2:

Like the others, I'm hoping that maybe they'll have a soft opening.

I'm in. We'll be there November 9th through the 22nd, but I'm not so terribly sad for us. We saw them the last two years, when we went in December. The thing I'm really sad about is that my parents won't be able to see them. We're bringing them this time, for their first trip to WDW, ever, and we'd like for them to see the Lights.

I have not seen the Disney version of the Osbourne lights display...yet.
I actually saw the original...on Mr. Osbournes 3 properties back in '92.
We drove 2.1 miles in 4 1/2 hours just to drive by this amazing display.
His surrounding neighbors HATED it. Then a little old ladies husband had
a heart attack and the ems team couldn't get thru allllll the traffic and he
died. I belive the state then stepped in an told him he couldn't display them
anymore....I remember when he donated them to WDW and thought one
day I'll get to see them again. :) I'm sorry for those of you who were
'jipped' by disney on the time frame they're showing them. I can only
imagine with Disneys spin on it, it's even better than the original. :)

I dont think anyone was burned by disney over the Osborne lights!!!!

Just because the lights started on a certain date last year doesnt mean they wll start the same date this year!!!!
I can see being disappointed because you ASSUMED the lights would start on the same date as last year, but you would only be burned if disney had announced officially that the lights would start on a certain date and then changed it.

Well the difference is we all ASSUMED they would start as usual and not almost two whole weeks later, as has been the norm. I'm not saying I was burned by Disney because these days everything is subject to change.
But when people plan these expensive trips almost a year out they can feel a little let down and broken hearted when expectations are not met.
I guess you're not part of the club then?

Well, we're just SAD:sad: to be missing the lights this year! As DVC members we do have to plan pretty far ahead in order to get our resort, so we can only go by what's been done for the last few years when planning. Of course we know to expect changes - our Aug dates were picked for LOEMH and P&PP party and they were discontinued this year - but it doesn't keep us from being 'disappointed' when they happen!

We had planned a trip and had reservation the week of Thanksgiving. When we heard that it was going to happen the day we were leaving, we changed our reservation to December. We were lucky that we were able to do it.

You were lucky, have fun!!!

We will be missing them (Nov 9-19) and I was really looking forward to seeing them for the first time.

What do you think this will do to other X-mas decorations? Do you think they will still have the castle lighting ceramony starting in mid august? Is that part of the MVMCP?

IM GOING NOV16-21,WHAT BOTHERS ME IS WHEN YOU WATCH THE 2008 WDW DVD THEY TELL YOU ENJOY THE OSBOURNE:confused3 LIGHTS IN MID NOVEMBER

This thread is a better fit on the theme parks community board, so were going to move it over there now :)

Last year, I went to WDW Nov 11-17 and saw the Osbourne Lights and loved them so much. I stood on the street, surrounded by lights and thought to myself "If I could go back to Disney and do just ONE thing, the Osbourne Lights would be it. It would be worth it to go back JUST to see them"....

So this spring when I was itching to make another Disney trip, I decided to go the same week, Nov 9-16, 'cause the Osbourne Lights would be starting that week. When it was announced that the 'Lights would not be starting until the end of November I was very disappointed! How could Disney do this? :confused3

Another broken heart here..... going to WDW Nov 12-16th.... :(
