The Oogie Boogie Bash 2022 Thread (ALL DATES SOLD OUT)

Thanks. We did see it last November when we were there, so we aren’t totally new to DL. Do they change HM Holiday from year to year, or is it always the same overlay?
I've noticed that in the attic they will change certain things around such as gifts, but it mostly stays the same. They put an elaborate gingerbread house in the dining room. 100% real gingerbread from what I've heard!

How strict are they on the 'no realistic lookin weapons' rule? Is Han Solo's blaster a realistic looking weapon?

I would say that is probably too close to an actual weapon, unless you're planning on one that was different colors than black/silver/gray.

My brother is going as a Haunted Mansion grave digger and wanted to take a mini metal garden shovel as part of his costume. We figure they would not allow a real shovel, so we bought a plastic child sand shovel and are going to paint that black. That should do the trick!

The gingerbread house is unique each year. They also move around where the monkey bride is placed in the attic each year.

WOOT! I just snagged a night at VGC to match my OBB tickets. Wowza -- what a great surprise!

Are you a DVC member or renting points? I really wanted to check out renting points for our October trip and researched it a few months ago, but became discouraged when everyone was saying they're already booked up either 12 or 7 months out.

For reference if you want to rent points for VGC you need to find an owner to work with before the 11 month mark. VGC is almost always booked up right when the dates open because there are so few rooms.

DVC Member ... stalking inventory. It was a "stroke of luck" kind of booking ... not one that was likely to have actually lined up.

Edited for a bit more info: Yes, VGC books out pretty solid just before the 7-month window ... but cancellations occur and plans get shuffled. As a DVC member, I've been pretty successful booking VGC but my strategy is "book what is available" rather than "book my intended dates." I stalk inventory every few days and often piece visits together over time. It is a fun game to me.

If you’re crafty and talented with making stuff… I wonder if they would be ok with his blaster if it was holstered and glued into the holster so it wasn’t removable. Possibly even cut in half so only the handle part was there and glued/secured so it wasn’t able to be removed from the holster. It would still look the part but if anyone really was concerned they could feel the leather holster and feel that it’s empty and it’s just the handle part.

Though that might still cause issues because if it’s done well, *every* cast member will think you did bring his blaster in and might question you about it because they’re worried about it…

I'm glad you were able to get dates and everything aligned! I wonder if availability will improve once the new Disneyland Hotel DVC wing opens.

The suites look so nice and are a pretty great deal comparatively. Maybe we'll become DVC members...some day! :)

Thank you! :)

Yes, I think availability will open up quite a bit once the new DVC @ DLH opens. Granted, we'll read plenty of posts saying, "You'll have to own there to book there" ... but I've been booking 10-12 nights each year at the Grand Cal using my DVC points from WDW. It is all in how you play the game ... 8-)

re: becoming DVC members
Best wishes on your research and finding the best possible solution for your family!

We are on site so I will be on the look out for day of tickets. At WDW they always allowed military members to buy day of even on sold out party dates for MNSSHP, meaning it wasn't a few and if you missed it you were out of luck. Is this something they do for OBB?
I asked when I booked our room with the military rate, and they said DLR has not and does not plan on doing that this year for OBB tickets, unfortunately. I remember them doing that at WDW in the past also.

We did get day-of tickets to OBB last year (see my prior post), by getting up at 0500 and going to the front desk at the DLH, where we were staying. It was stressful not knowing if we would have tickets until that day, but it all worked out. Hope it works out for you also!

So excited. Booked our hotel, was planning on walking from farther down Harbor but got Best Western park place on hotels.com and was able to redeem my free night! It was never available when I’ve checked prior to this. Very happy to have a short walk at the end of the night!!

Any word on World of Color Dessert parties or Dinner/Parade bundles for OBB? My 60 days is arriving soon (D23 member night) but I didn’t see it as an option for the one on 9/6 as a dining reservation? (Tried looking through the thread but it’s a long one.)

Have never done an after hours party, so am excited to have tickets for this year's Oogie Boogie! Definitely less excited about the hotel prices for October, however. We're only 45 min. away in L.A., but decided to overnight and spend the next day in the park. (I'm sure a popular idea.) But seeing rates for our usual hotels and the sold out statuses for others (and Candy Cane appears mighty iffy still for October) means I'll definitely be stalking sites between now and fall hoping to grab a reasonably priced cancellation. Am also thinking of booking something closer to the Toy Story lot and using the shuttle. We're kind of spoiled now after staying on Harbor for our overnights, but $400 for one weekday night (that isn't an onsite property) just isn't something I can justify for my budget unfortunately.

They haven't announced any dining packages that I am aware of yet but I wouldn't waste time at a sit down meal during the party as there just isn't enough time IMO. Also I don't believe there will be a WOC as it was not included in all the festivities for the party that was announced. As far as trying to get a good spot for the parade, the route is so long that you don't really need a dining reservation to get a good spot IMO.

Agree on all points here, especially about not wasting time with sit down dining and the ease of finding a spot during the parade.

Thanks much. I just assumed they’d be doing the villian-themed World of Color during it, but you’re right I see it wasn’t announced. I did get a dessert party for one of the other non OBB nights.

As for the sit-down dinner, good advice. I’m a little strange as I’m not a huge rides person, not treat trails, so I’m mostly there for the atmosphere and fun. Done several OBBs now. So having a nice meal and getting a good seat (actual seat not curb) is worth it to me. I completely agree it’s not for most people.

Now if it was back at Disneyland Park where it belongs, whole different story. ;)

By the way, I was just able to book a World of Color Desert Party for September 10th on line. There were two times, I believe 8pm and 9:15pm. It doesn't say anything about Oogie Boogie Bash but that's clearly during the party. Not sure if it's going to be a special overlay show like the ones they've done in the past or not. But figured (for me) it was worth booking because I've enjoyed the WoC desert parties in the past.

No specific sign of dining packages for parade viewing. Both Carthay and Wine County show dinner stopping at 6pm and then an odd "Special Ticketed Event - Dinner" from just 6:05pm to 6:30pm, which seems odd. (Not sure why just a half-hour). Didn't show any availability so either it's just a stub for now, or I already missed whatever slots were allocated there, maybe for just one seating?
