The only way to have a friend is to be one." -- Ralph Waldo Emerson

Good news! I start a new job tomorrow. :teeth: It's a temp position for now, with a possibility of becoming permanent in the next couple of months. I work 1/2 day tomorrow for training and then start full time on Monday. The timing couldn't be better, since I'm still waiting on my unemployment determination letter -- and money. The job sounds interesting from what the agency told me. I celebrated by buying a couple of work outfits this afternoon.

We are headed off to the kids' school in a few minutes for the ice cream social. That is when they post the class lists and the kids get to check out their new classroom and meet the teacher, plus they also get ice cream and a tshirt. This year they will also have bounce houses -- I can feel my headache trying to arrive already. After that I am working at TDS tonight.

Lyzzie's dad left yesterday on the Greyhound and we dropped her grandparents off at the airport this morning. The visit went well, but I am exhausted physically and mentally. I think the girls are too.

Nicole, is work still going well? I didn't realize it was a seasonal position. Hopefully they will love you so much they decide to keep you permanently!

How are you feeling, Lin? Are you ready for Connor? I can't wait to "meet" our newest thread member! :)

Ashley, can you believe how close the WDW trip is getting?! I'm getting so excited! Can't wait to see you again (you too Amber & family!). It's been so hot here, and Lyzzie's family kept taking us out to eat -- I joked that it was good practice for our free dining trip. The only bad thing is that my back has been hurting so horribly in this heat, I'm seriously thinking I might have to rent a wheelchair at WDW. :( I hope it doesn't come to that.

Lyzziesmom! I was just about to send out the search party (or just send you a text message ;)) I was alittle worried but figured you've been busy with Lyzzies's fam! I'm sooooo happy for you about the job!!! :cool1::cool1: YAY!!!! I can't wait to be on our trip...It's just around the corner! It will be great, even if you have to get the wheelchair!!! I've been concerned about my back too. For some reason I've been in alot of pain.

We had our check up's at the doctor on Tuesday. It was a little bit tramatizing. Jeremiah and I went together because he hasn't had any check ups at all since we've been together (almost 9 years!)

We wanted to be in a room together but I guess it's against the doctor's policy so he got called in a little before I did. Next thing I know I am hearing a commotion in the next room and I know it's about Jeremiah. We were the only patients in the office. I keep hearing rushing around and couldn't really understand what they were saying, but I knew it was bad. I don't think they realized we were married (I haven't changed my name yet) or I think they would have been quieter.

Anyway, I started having a panic attack and felt like I was going to pass out. I probably should have gotten up and seen what was going on but I just didn't know what to do.

It turns out they were really concerned about his high blood pressure (the reason I wanted him to go to the appt.) and they gave him an EKG. When the doctor came in I was practically hyperventilating and crying. I am still so embarassed (plus the doctor's really cute so that made it worse!) I was just so scared! He did reassure me, and tell me he's going to be fine. They gave him a pill right there in the office and it brought his BP down.

So, he's on medication now, probably for the rest of his life. It's just so scary, and you guys know how I freak out....I am still worried about it. He has an echocardiogram in 2 weeks and I am getting an ultrasound for my thyroid, so we are going in together. I am just worried about those results now. They put me on meds for my thyroid so hopefully it helps with this stupid weight. I've gained 25+ pounds in less than a year with no changes to diet or exercise and it's just not healthy.

Sorry for this huge post! Now I'm starting to freak out again.....:rolleyes1

Yippee for the new temp job!!!! And have fun at the ice cream social tonight. I could go for some ice cream...

Oh, today is Children's Miracle Day at Dairy Queen, so all Blizzard proceeds go to the Children's Miracle Network!

I'm feeling great! Go back to work on Monday, I'm both looking forward to doing that and not looking forward to it. So much to do, and I didn't do anything all summer that I had said I was going to do to get ready....

Nicole, how is your job going?

Lyzziesmom, Yay! I'm so happy about your new job! I'm glad you all had a good time with Lyzzie's family.

Ashley, I'm sorry about the Dr's office. :grouphug:

Lin- Wow, the school year came around fast this year!

I'm headed off to the new job in a few minutes. I'm nervous! I'm mostly worried about having enough time to get everything done on a daily basis... work, TDS job, school, parenting... last time I tried to go back to school it was too much and everything suffered. I'm hoping I can handle it better this time around.

I don't think I mentioned it, but part of the new job is helping to prepare for a trade show the company is having in October -- at WDW! I understand that the receptionist usually does attend, but they don't want to bring a temp. I'm hoping that once they find out what a Disney "expert" I am, they might decide before then to keep me permanently have so I can attend. How fun would that be? Cross your fingers for me! Even if I don't go, it'll be fun to plan. The company deals with waterparks and sounds like a fun job. I'll find out in a few minutes! I will train this afternoon with the guy I'm replacing and then Monday start full-time. I haven't yet mentioned that I need 4 days off in a few weeks, I really hope it won't be a problem. Since I'm through the temp agency I'm hoping it will be okay.

Wish me luck!!

Ashley, it's a good thing you got Jeremiah in to the dr! I'm sorry it was so stressful for you. I don't know if it's the weather or what, but my back has been especially bad lately too. We'll limp around WDW together -- maybe have an ECV race! ;)

Good luck getting back in the swing of work, Lin. This time of year must be so hectic for teachers.

Gotta run. Love you all!

Happy Birthday Lin!!!

Your new job sounds like fun Lyzziesmom! I hope they keep you on permanent and you'll be able to go to the trade show!

Ashley and Lyzziesmom, when is your trip? I might be able to go that Saturday thru Monday.

:hyper: That would be sooooo FUN!! We are going September 9-15. I can't remember Lyzziesmom's exact dates. Maybe you could come the 12-14th?

My dates are the 5th thru the 13th. We won't really be there at all on the 13th though, because the only flight I could get back home leaves at 10am so we'll have to get the ME bus crazy early that morning.

Lyzzie's first day of school is tomorrow! It's a busy day for us, with that, my first full day on the new job, and Emma has K orientation at 8am. Luckily the job starts at 9 so I can still take her. :) It has been a hectic day today trying to get ready! Ugh, I sent Emma to brush her teeth 10 minutes ago and she just now asked for help squeezing the toothpaste out. I have no idea what she's been doing for the past 10 minutes. I better go light a fire under her butt, we are already almost an hour late on bedtime.

Gah, I wish we could do just ONE THING in this house without having to run around like headless chickens!!

I forgot to say, Nicole I really hope you can come!

Thanks for the birthday wishes guys!

Lyzzie, have a great first day of school!!! Emma, enjoy orientation!!!!

I hope the girls have a great first day and Lyzziesmom, you have a great first day too!

I'm going to try my best to get down there, it's a bit of a hassle to get to Orlando though. I have to go to JFK and then down to Orlando. Guess I shouldn't complain though. Also I need to see if Steven's flight benefits have gone through yet.

Weirdest thing... a handsome single man literally landed in my front yard today!

I was outside after work, still all dolled up, rounding up the kids + neighbor kids and checking out Mom's hack job (a.k.a. "weeding") in my butterfly garden, when this good-looking man rides up on his bike with a little girl to say hi. His girl knows our neighbor's boy. This guy lives at the corner of the next street down and seems pretty friendly. After a few minutes he asked where the husbands are, by this time my next door neighbor had come out and said her boyfriend's inside; I pointed at my house & said "It's just us girls unless you count the crazy Siamese" -- who was at the moment dive-bombing out of our big tree then racing back up. Handsome Man made a point to once again mention where he lives, describing the exact house, and that his wife left him with the kids over a year ago. Didn't go too into detail but he seems all about the kids and like a decent guy. Has a boy who was in Lyzzie's class last year.

We chatted for a while and when he left he said he'll ride round our street more often, left an open invite for the kids to come play in their yard & on their trampoline, and offered to exchange phone numbers next time to make it easy for the kids to get together.

So a nice new neighbor who just happens to be easy on the eyes and available landed in my yard, or I live near a child molester. I am hoping it's Door Number One!

I know bad things happen in threes, but what about good ones? I got a job, met a nice neighbor... now if only my unemployment payments would come through!!

Good Morning!

I have been without internet for about a week, but finally got it back last night.

Lyzziesmom, congrats on the job! How is it going?

The guy sounds promising. Now, you need to find out if he is also a Disney fan.

Nicole, it would be great if you are able to make it to WDW! I wish we were going at the same time, but we are going at the end of the month. Of course, we plan on driving over for the day.

In addition to no internet, Spencer was sick. He is also still getting more teeth in and starting to say more words. Of course, most are the words were have to interpret. :)

We made the final payment to WDW, but cut it down a day. Originally, we only planned on 4 nights, but added an extra. It's not a huge deal to lose one, but I had just switched Boma to Raglan Road and now that is dropped. :guilty:

Amber, I was just looking at your fb photos and I can not believe how big Spencer has gotten! I tried to comment on a bunch of photos but kept having errors so I think only one made it. I love the first pic in your aquarium album, he looks so sweet. I'm sorry you had to cut your trip short. That's always disappointing, even though you're close enough to just drive over a day trip just isn't the same. Please forgive me for not remembering... did you decide for sure if you'll be visiting during our & Ashley's trips? It would be so great if we could all get together for a while & have a quick mini-meet!

Nicole, have you made figured out yet if you can come? I sure hope so! I don't think Emma remembers more than just your name, but Lyzzie does and she really liked you -- probably because you let her use your discount to buy Crocs! How is the job going now that you've had some time to settle in?

Last week we had a guest in the store who was talking about WDW and said their kid called TOT the "Towel of Towel!" (must be said in a scary little-kid voice for the full effect.) The girls and I have been calling it the Towel of Towel ever since -- never fails to crack us up. The CM's are going to think we are off our rocker when we are there, because you know we're gonna keep saying it in line! :rotfl:

The new job is going well. I haven't mentioned our trip yet & am kind of nervous about it. I don't think it'll be a big deal but I think I'm just going to tell the agency that I have a family obligation I need to attend, and leave it at that. Hopefully they won't just go with a different temp -- I like it here. I've been pretty busy but yesterday was slow, and I'm sort of in between projects right now while everyone else is at lunch.

I'm really hoping I can attend this company's convention/trade show in WDW in October - the more info I read about it, the cooler it sounds. There are some really neat Disney Institute events like a backstage tour of MK called "Disney Innovation in Action" that looks amazing, plus backstage tours of Typhoon Lagoon and Blizzard Beach.

This has been a very hectic week for us but it really flew by. Only 2 more weeks!!
:dance3: <--- That's me, Lyzzie, & Emma Rose doing the happy dance! Aren't we coordinated?
We are all so tired from work & school, plus our crazy cat has been perfecting his hunting skills - instead of bringing in dead cicadas now he brings them in alive. :scared: Those buggers are LOUD! Wed. one got away & went into the dining room light fixture, it was still there yesterday morning & we were terrified it was going to crawl out & fall in our food. :scared1: This morning he brought one screeching & flapping into Emma's room at 5am, and another one into the hall shortly after. Then Dusty hunted my shoes and plunked my heels down outside my bedroom door and yowled about it until I thanked her. It was not a restful morning! Lyzzie forgot to set her alarm, she usually gets up early to feed the cats so that might be part of why they were going crazy. My lovely mother says I should lock the cats in the kitchen at night, but I say if you can't snuggle with a kitty at night then what's the point of having any? That's about the only time we see them anyway. Of course her other suggestion is, "It only takes one bullet." :sad2:

Alright... who moved the smilies? It wasn't me this time, I've been too busy! Is this guy new? :littleangel: He's cute!

Amber, That's great you have the internet back! Spencer is getting so big!

Lyzziesmom, Go after that man! :teeth: I am going to try to come, but it turns out that Steven has to put his truck back in the shop again, and it's going to cost alot, also his flight benefits still haven't kicked in yet.

Work is going good, but it's still overwhelming at times.
