The only way to have a friend is to be one." -- Ralph Waldo Emerson

Lyzziesmom, great deal at the church sale!! You can never have enough Crocs, and that is a great deal on Jibbitz!! I have several and unfortunately I would pay like $2.99 for each one!:scared1:

We are getting Chinese for dinner. I am starving! Guess that's a good sign!

Tomorrow is Buddy's check up from his surgery. Hopefully we can take that cone off from around his neck, it is making him miserable!

Happy Anniversary Mike and Amber!!!! :cheer2:

Yet another work vent...

I have my interview tomorrow with the other manager. Today my manager told me that I needed to apply for the job online. So when I got home I went to the site and couldn't find the job listing. There are only 2 listings for Texas and neither are for my mall. :confused3 I sent my manager a text seeing if I could submit a general application, but she said no it had to be for the position. Well, where is the listing then??? I sent her another text but she never responded. So I checked every single listing for the whole company. Nothing. I then sent another coworker a text and she responded but didn't know what to tell me. I looked again in the listings and still found nothing. I then sent in my application in the general pool. That's all I could do. I am beyond frustrated and very close to telling my manager to not consider me for the position and and even considering quitting. I don't want to, I like my job alot, but I can't handle this new manager and I am so angry right now. She better not blame me for any of this or I'll walk out.

On to happier things!

Happy Anniversary Amber and Mike!!!!

Ashley- How did Buddy's check up go?

Lyzziesmom- Great finds at the church sale!!!

Thanks for the anniversary wishes!!

Lyzziesmom, congrats on the finds!! That is a GREAT price on Jibbitz.

Ashley, I hope you are feeling better. How is Buddy?

Nicole, I am sorry you are having a hard time at work. Vent away any time you like. Good luck with the interview. :wizard:

We didn't really get to do anything to celebrate (we did have lunch at Applebee's though and Spencer discovered he likes guacamole). MIL is in Vegas this week for a horse show, so Mike has been taking care of everything. I m hoping to go to WDW when she gets back.

Happy belated Anniversary, Amber & Mike! Sometimes low-key celebrations can be the best. I bet the guacamole tasting was fun to watch.

Nicole, I'm so sorry your manager is being so difficult. I completely understand your frustration. Vent all you want! Is this manager new to the company?

I found out on Friday night that another CM got the team lead position at TDS, and she is one I don't care for much. She just has a grating, "one-up" personality and always has to be right. Anyway I congratulated her on the promotion and said something about wishing I was available days so I could have been in the running. She said, "Oh well did you apply? You can't be considered if you don't apply for it." WHAT?! I did not know there was an application process or even how to go about applying. Nobody even officially said there was an opening, but my store manager and ASM had both casually mentioned it and said they knew I wanted it. Grrr! Oh well, live and learn.

We are having a lazy Sunday today. My parents were over working on the living room, we are covering the ugly wood paneling with paintable wallpaper and my dad had to seal up a door that led into the back of my closet. (When we moved in, the master bedroom had no closet so he built one, but kept the door through to the living room intact.) I am anxious to have this project done so we can move my furniture back where it belongs, right now it is all in the middle of the room. The room is so much brighter already with the paneling covered up, even though it isn't painted yet!

We might go see Hotel for Dogs at the discount theater this afternoon. The kids are getting restless from staying inside and it is wet & soggy outside.

Hope you're all having a great weekend!

Lyzziesmom- Your manager should have made you aware that you needed to apply for the position. Especially since you had mentioned an interest in the job. Yes, my manager is new to the company.

Amber- I would have loved to watch Spencer eat guacamole!

Well, I finally got the application filled out, I was still very angry this morning right up until the interview. It went well, at least I hope. After that I went back to my store and we all went out for dinner.

Nicole, I'm sure you did great in the interview. Your manager may still be learning the ropes and taking her frustration out on you, and that's just wrong! It does seem like she likes you though and is trying to get you promoted. Best of luck!

I am at the new job and so far it is very boring. I'm just filling in for a receptionist whose wife is having surgery. They are not really having me do anything except answer phone calls, and there have only been 4 calls since 8am. At least I have internet access and a book. Everyone is very nice but it is a super quiet office. There is loud classical piano musak playing in the hall and it's nice, but I think it will drive me crazy by the end of the day!

We did go see Hotel for Dogs yesterday, it was cuter than I thought it would be. At one point I said, "Ohhhh stupid movie is making me cry!"

Has anyone heard from Lin lately? I get nervous when any of our friends disappear!! Lin, if you're still around please drop in & let us know you're ok. You must be really busy!

Lyzziesmom- How did work go for the rest of the day? Hopefully it was a little busier.

I have a phone interview tomorrow with the district manager. I hope it goes well, because I hate phone interviews!

Nicole, good luck with your phone interview! I like phone interviews better than face-to-face, they seem to be less pressure because you don't have to worry about how you look or act. Also, you can make notes about what you want to say & ask so you don't forget anything! Well best of luck, I'm sure you won't even need it and you'll be great!

Back at the boring job today. They might need me tomorrow too but as of right now I have no idea. If I don't work tomorrow, I'll be schlepping Emma to the Social Security office to get her new card. I never got her name changed with SS after we had it legally changed, oops! We tried to do it once but found out the office moved & I don't know to where.

Hope you're all having a great day today. Can't wait for Idol tonight!! DISCO NIGHT! :woohoo:

Hey guys!

Hope you are all having a wonderful week!

Right now I'm sitting on my back porch reading the Dis from my laptop! It's a really gorgeous day and I needed some fresh air. The sun makes me feel alittle better. I thought I would be better by now from my cold but I am still not even close to 100%.

This Friday I'm having family over to celebrate my parents 23rd wedding Anniversary. My Dad requested my homemade spaghetti for dinner so I hope I feel better by then to make it (it takes all day!)

I'm excited to watch tonight's American Idol! Hopefully it won't be too boring (unlike last week which was a snoozefest!)

I'm trying to figure out what to have for dinner, for some reason my hands and feet have been swelling (no idea why!) so I want to have something that doesn't have alot of salt.

I just got done with the interview. I was nervous and got a little flustered so I don't think it went well at all. :( I should know sometime this week.

Ashley- I wonder what is making you feet and hands swell. Your spaghetti sounds good!

Idol sounds like fun tonight. Isn't it on at the same time as DWTS, if so I'll have to remind myself to watch it afterwards if its still on.

Ashley, have you figured out what's causing the swelling? I get that really bad whenever we go to FL during hot weather (which is pretty much every time we go! haha!). Maybe it's the humidity, if it's suddenly warmer than it was? Or have you taken any meds for your cold? That can cause edema (swelling) too. I had it something awful on Monday, my feet were swollen out the tops of my shoes at work! It looked horrible and I kept trying to hide my feet -- too bad because I had on really cute t-strap heels and they looked so weird. I hope you get to feeling better before the weekend so you can make your famous spaghetti!

Nicole -- I'm sure you did fine on your interview. Sending pixie dust your way!!

Apparently my mom has been spilling her guts to the preschool director, because when I dropped off Emma at school this morning, the director stopped me in the hall and said, "Have you had any luck yet?" and hugged me. I've only met this lady 4 or 5 times over 2 years, that was weird!

What did you guys think of Idol? I liked how a lot of them changed up the songs so they weren't so "disco-ey." I kept thinking of this guy!!
Disco_Stu_and_the_P_Funk_Allstars.jpg

I thought Adam was really good (of course) and Allison -- they are my picks for the top two. I think Anoop and Lil will be going home tonight, I used to really like Lil but she just doesn't seem to "get it." And I used to really like Anoop too, but his songs have been really boring. I don't get sometimes why the judges will really praise an "eh" performance, and then really pan what I think is a good one. They definitely have their favorites!

Hey guys!!!

Lyzziesmom, I agree with you about Idol. I think it should definitely be Lil to go, and either Matt or Anoop. I really enjoyed Adam and Kris. I thought Allison's performance was good in parts, but it seemed alittle off at parts. But she is still one of my favs!

Sorry about the preschool teacher. That is pretty strange!!

I'm not sure what's causing the swelling. Yesterday I tried not eating things with alot of salt and it seemed to help alittle. I don't usually eat alot of salt anyway but yesterday I barely had any!

Nicole, I'm sure you did great on your phone interview!!

I got the promotion. I just hope I can reach all my goals and keep my manager off my back!

Lyzziesmom- That's odd about Emma's teacher.

Ashley- Is the swelling gone?

Hey guys!

Well I'm exhausted, I just cleaned my entire house since we have company coming tomorrow!! I have to start cooking early tomorrow since the spaghetti takes forever to cook right.

What did you guys think of American Idol? I was happy with the results!! Along with Dancing with the Stars.

Nicole, You are going to do great with your new promotion- I believe in you!!!:yay:

The swelling seems to have gone down slightly, thanks for asking. I've been trying to cut down on the salt the last 2 nights and that seems to have helped alittle. You guys know how paranoid I am about my health and I realize my fears are (usually) totally irrational so I'm just going to keep this one fear to myself! :rotfl:

OH, fyi, I chatted with Lin on Facebook last night and she said to tell everyone HI! She said she is having problems accessing the Dis on her new laptop (giving her a weird error) and is trying to figure out the problem!!

Nicole, CONGRATS!!! I am sure you will do great!

Ashley, glad to hear the swelling is going down; I would keep an eye on it just in case though. I am usually paranoid about things myself, so I like to be extra careful.

I was happy with AI; I figured those two would go.

Spencer has been keeping me so busy; he LOVES to play outside now. He is almost running too, so it keeps me on my toes (but, it is helping me to get a workout :)).

He loves digging in the dirt, so we are going to look for a sandbox table. We have black sand here (so gross) and he gets FILTHY :scared:, so hopefully the new sandbox will stop him from digging in the yard. He's typical boy though. :goodvibes

Thanks everyone!

Ashley- That's good the swelling has gone down a little. I was happy about the results on DWTS too!

Amber- I'm glad Spencer is enjoying playing outside!

Congratulations on the promotion, Nicole! I'm sure you'll do great. I'm so proud of you!!

Lyzzie is off at a Girl Scout campout this weekend. She had a GS meeting after school today, and then her school held their annual carnival where I saw her for about 10 minutes in between her running around with her friends, and then it was off to the campout. She will be home on Sunday. Since I worked for the last 2 nights at TDS, I have barely seen her (except for a few minutes in the mornings) since Tuesday. I miss that girl! I'm sure she is having a great time. She is really looking forward to doing some archery if the the rain holds off.

Emma had a great time at the school carnival. She won a cakewalk and a 2-liter of soda, along with various trinket prizes. She kept saying, "My feet are killing me!" and after about the 3rd time, followed it with, "What does that mean anyway?" That kid is too much!

Amber -- it sounds like Spencer is really enjoying himself! I hope you find a nice sand table. I'm betting he'll still love to dig in the dirt though. Maybe you can get him to help with some gardening? I can't believe he is running around already - how time flies!!

Ashley -- oh I hear ya about the health issues. Just don't do any Google diagnosis!! I have gone to the dr. for swelling in my legs & feet before, they don't really take it very seriously. All they did was give me a diuretic, which I hated because it had me peeing every 20 minutes and I still had swollen feet. I've been seriously puffy lately too, but I'm trying not to worry about it. I have been stressed and am not eating regularly, plus have been indulging in a bit of Easter candy. ;) I'm sure we will both be fine!

Anyone have any interesting weekend plans? We have none at all. Hopefully the weather will stay nice (I have my windows open right now!), it's supposed to rain all next week. :( I will probably stay home with Emma most of the weekend.

I don't remember if I mentioned it, but I sprained my ankle pretty bad the other night on my way to work at TDS -- stepped in a hole in the parking lot -- and it feels mostly better but still has some shooting pain if I step just wrong and it keeps trying to retwist so I'm trying to take it easy. Between that and my swollen feet, I can barely fit into any of my shoes! It's a good excuse to have a lazy weekend, right?
