Monday 25 October
The journey went so smoothly this time we were wondering if we had forgotten something vital. Dtr had art homework to do - photos with a title of 'Journeys' - how convenient. These are a couple of the ones she's using.
H dropped us off at Uxbridge tube station, we got a Metropolitan line train to St Pancras, got the Eurostar with no delay (notice Heimlich came with us)
and were at Marne La Vallee at 1.30 local time.
We put our luggage in Guest Storage (wow that would be extremely expensive if we didnt have APs as we had a case and a bag each) and entered the Park.
Main Street didnt look as Halloweeny as usual. There were a few pumpkins at Town Square and Central Plaza but there were none of the normal pumpkins splattered with paint, or sleeping on benches that we have seen in previous years. We later discovered these had been relocated in Fantasyland and Frontierland. Main Street looked more like its normal self.
We walked through Agrabah Bazaar towards Pirates, but as that was quite busy we decided to make Indiana our first call. Even so, the queue here was 35 minutes and we ended up queuing through some areas of bamboo we have never been in before. I love that moment when you get to the top of the stairs and first timers get to see the 360 loop. The looks on faces are priceless.
I know Im being hypocritical here as I dont even ride the thing!
We walked back past Pirates (which was queuing through the outside area and showed 45 mins wait) and through Fantasyland. We noticed the FP time for Peter Pan was at a time to suit us and there were no queues for FPs so we picked up 2.
It was interesting to note that, although the place didnt look very busy, every ride was showing a long wait times. It was as if everybody must be in a queuing area somewhere rather than milling about as we were doing. LPDCDF was drained of water but Casey Jr was open with a huge queue. Belles Christmas Village was already open for business and doing a brisk trade in Christmas knick-knacks.
We decided we would check into our hotel now that we had had a quick look around and reassured ourselves that everything we loved was still there!
We collected our luggage and caught a shuttle bus to the Kyriad. We had to pay a City Tax of 1.10 per person per night. Our room was one which was suitable for a wheelchair user so our bathroom was HUGE with a very high level loo. It was a pleasant room with complimentary tea/coffee/biscuits, which were replaced each day.
We unpacked and then read for a while to recharge our batteries before going back on the bus. We went to Annettes for our main meal.
Dtr was dragged up by the waitress to join in the dancing to Greased Lightening. He he he.
The food was nice and we were pleasantly full as we went in to the Park. It was just getting dark, so it seemed a good time to ride Phantom Manor. We followed this with rides on POTC, Peter Pan (a walk-on with our FPs), IASW, Pinocchio and Snow White. The latter had been refurbed since we were last there and now has gates just before you get on the ride, like BTM. The soundtrack of the ride is also quite a bit louder (especially in the spooky forest scene) and things looked a bit more sparkly and shiny in the mine scene.
Dtr was keen to go on BTM so we joined the queue which was 25 minutes long. The time went quickly as we were in front of a group of older teens (French) who were guiding everybody in a singsong (Frere Jacques and a French version of Shell Be Coming Round the Mountain). It was very good natured, if a little loud! Later in the week, as we came through the x-ray security check Dtr suddenly said Oh! in a loud voice she recognised the security CM as one of the singers from Monday.
Anyway, there was time for Dtr to go round for another ride while I did an ET I phoned home to speak to H.
It was nearly 10 oclock now and the Park was about to close so we made our way out to the bus stop to await our number 54 bendy bus.
Back at the room we had a cup-a-soup each (leek and potato mmmmmmmm!) and settled down for a good nights sleep.
