The One Where I Go To Disney World for the Tenth Time: Aug '14 TR - COMPLETE 5/21 LIFE U/D 7/7

The Tomorrowland Terrace Party looked amazing! Lots of yummy desserts and what an incredible view! Did you have to purchase separate tickets for that? Or was it something you secured on FastPass+ ?

Sorry for dropping a zillion updates then disappearing for a month! My plan was to keep rolling out updates so I could finish the TR before the baby comes. But then it occurred to me that there are actually a lot of other things I had to get done that were a tad more baby-related (but not more important! ;))

Anyway, I'm still going to try to get this finished up, at least as much as possible, before Baby arrives. My due date is 19 days away  so we'll see how far I can get. There are still a few days left to cover...

I have to go have the car seat inspected in a little while, but when I get home my plan is to spend the afternoon with my [very swollen] feet up which would be a perfect opportunity for writing!

Thanks for sticking around :goodvibes

I can't believe how close your due date is!!!! I'm sos excited and happy for you guys. BTW, Happy belated Mother's Day!:goodvibes

Okay... Photobucket is in infuriating me right now! I tried to rotate one photo and it told me it couldn't but then it flipped the rest of my album upside down or sideways, no joke! I gave up on it last night and hoped today it would be working better but it's not. Does anyone have any suggestions? In the meantime, I'm just going to keep writing updates in Word without pictures and whenever this gets resolved I'll add the photos and post. Doesn't Photobucket know I don't have time for this!? I'm on the clock! :headache:

I HATE PB SOMETIMES FOR THIS REASON! I ended up editing my photos in iPhoto before uploading to PB. Although a long time ago, I never had issues reformatting the photos but now with this 'newer' version it never saves the flipped photo.

the jalapeno cheese pretzel!
IMG_9924.jpg

DH said yum!:rotfl:

Oops. We probably should have planned that better. I didn’t know we wouldn’t be allowed to bring food/drink inside. So we put the food away for later and it was totally worth it because this show is amazing.

That is a genuinely scared face! :lmao:

take the Orange Line to the Settlement Outpost.

Orange Line!? So do they have their own internal bus system? I had not idea it was this big.

Wow you really did get great seats.

Looking back from our table. DH thinks he's "getting" me by photobombing but now his silly face is on the internet. Who gets the last laugh now!? :smooth:
IMG_9947.jpg

 Exactly!

Nothing better than ice cold (hopefully super sweet!) tea out of a mason jar:thumbsup2

Stop now. This looks delicious!

Ugh, these people… :sad2: I considered going in alone but I’m not enough of a MSEP fan to sit and watch it by myself, plus the lines for the buses looked really short at the moment, so I decided to go back to AoA with the party poopers.

:sad2:

I opened my eyes at 7 something and it crossed my mind for a minute to go to DHS on my own but it didn't take me long to decide that I was just too tired and fell right back asleep until after 9. Which is so late for me.

This is very unlike you.

I was really disappointed that the sound feature under the water was broken.

What?! What happens??

I ended up pouring oil out of my bowl which was pretty gross.

That's just nasty.

If you are a hardcore chocolate lover I would have to say it was fantastic.

Welp, guess i'm going to have to try this.

A bus finally arrived at 2:00 and we had a FP+ for Space Mountain from 1:05-2:05 so that had to be changed. Unfortunately the only availability we could find was from 8:45-9:45 which meant we wouldn't be able to get a 4th FP+ until after that, instead of being able to get one after our originally scheduled last FP+ which was BTMRR at 3 or 4 something. I was pretty frustrated and having some very mixed feelings about FP+ in that moment.

Ugh exactly. I had never really thought about it until like the second to last day of our trip that if we scheduled something late, we'd have to wait till after that.

(Side note: Did I hear something about now/soon being able to schedule more FP+ as you use them instead of after using all 3?)

STOP SERIOUSLY?!? Oh please, please, please let this be true. :hyper:

We arrived at MK at 2:20 and went right to Splash. It was SO HOT OUT! The sun was so incredibly strong.
IMG_9992.jpg

Although it's hot, it looks gorgeous out!

Great shot!

So like we often do, we planned out a ride photo for the drop. We didn't think we were doing anything inappropriate, but when we got off we saw that our ride photo had been "washed away!" We assumed the other people in our log must have been doing something inappropriate so we waited on a decently long line to find out if we could get the photo anyway. When I got to the front I asked the CM for our picture and she looked at it on her computer screen and said something along the lines of, "I'm sorry but you can't have it because it violates Disney's rules." I asked her if it was us or the other people in our log and she said it was us! :scared1: :faint: Oh my gosh! I was a Disney Rebel! I had broken the rules! I was so surprised and so upset. And worst of all, I was really bothered by the idea that we had ruined another family's ride photo! Well... I really hope that the other people had magic bands with Memory Maker because the photo still linked to our account! We just didn't realize it until way later.

Are you serious? That's just plain stupid and annoying. It's not like you were making obscene gestures or flashing :confused3 And i'm sure the other guests in your boat would have laughed it off too, because I would have. I wish the CM's would choose a little more wisely with what is and isn't appropriate.

We got on the FP+ line and started walking through the queue when all of a sudden a girl and her father stepped in front of me as though I was invisible  And I'm not talking about a mob of people merging together. We were well established on the line and they just completely and blatantly cut in front of me like I wasn't there. Then a minute later four more people cut in front of us to join them. I was furious but kept my mouth shut :furious:

:sad2:

Well, sometimes *history* repeats itself... (see what I did there? ;) )

::yes:::thumbsup2

In this room the CM asked for volunteers and my charming and mature husband started boisterously pointing at me. The CM then walked right up to DH and said, "You're volunteering!"

I kept highlighting one photo to quote because it was hilarious and then I just kept scrolling and the pics kept getting more and more hilarious! :rotfl2::rotfl::lmao::laughing: These are just fantastic!

 Poor kid with his head cut off by the bicep!

IMG_0061.jpg

He has the same expression as the gargoyle
IMG_0062.jpg

This is very accurate.

I love steak fries too!

:rotfl2:

Hmm... apparently the rest of us didn't get the memo to make scary faces, including Beast :rotfl2:
wd001wdw2014225108777078.jpeg

Good job DH! :thumbsup2 He was really getting into it. His adrenaline still must have been up from his performance as a knight:rotfl:

When we were done with our pictures, the room was still completely empty. We said good-bye to Beast but as we were walking out he started tiptoeing behind us making scary gestures when he thought we couldn't see. When we turned around he would act all innocent and casual, leaning against the wall like he was just chillin' It was SO funny! Then when we'd turn to walk away again he would go back to stalking us and making scary gestures again. And when we stopped and turned around he acted all innocent! This kept repeating until we were all the way out into the hallway and main entrance. He then hid behind a curtain and peeked out and waved at us. It was so so so hilarious. I guess he was really bored. I wish it was captured on film. M and I then went to the bathroom in the castle and when we came out DH told us that while we were in there the Beast stayed in the entrance and was "talking" to the CMs there (meaning he was making in-character gestures). What a fun interaction after a great meal!

Such a great interaction!

Up next we did the People Mover. Once again I was the only one who really wanted to do it and was about to go on alone but then everyone else felt bad and decided to join. It was empty and we decided to split up so we would have more room to take a relaxing ride. It was perfect, as always, and we got to enjoy views of the gorgeous sunset too.

Okay I just don't get it. It's not like it takes much effort to go up a moving walkway, sit on a nice, slow, relaxing ride through tomorrowland with that amazing sunset and castle as your backdrop :confused3

So gorgeous!

Yuck.

Right before we got to the loading area S decided to exit because he didn't feel up to riding.

WHAT?!!? He waited all that time and bounced?!

These look delicious!

I decided to then put my camera down and just enjoy watching and taking it all in. This was the best view of Wishes I'd had in years (although to be honest, watching it from New Fantasyland earlier in the trip and being surrounded by fireworks was frickin' awesome!)

I would love to do this! Was there many small children in this area that you noticed? I'm more concerned about the loudness.

The lines for the bus were long but there were CMs there asking if people wanted to step aside and wait for seats on the next bus. Turns out, lots of people did so we were able to get the last 4 standing room spots on a bus with no wait!

Uh, i'd rather just get to where i'm going than worrying about seating for 15 minutes :confused3

CHILLS! I HATE bees, wasps, hornets, etc. And seeing their nests just grosses me out. I see them all over our house and instantly gives me chills. I'm shocked the CM's didn't take care of this sooner.

The Tomorrowland Terrace Party looked amazing! Lots of yummy desserts and what an incredible view! Did you have to purchase separate tickets for that? Or was it something you secured on FastPass+ ?

Well this is interesting.... I remembered it costing about $25/person for the event (it's a separate ticket) but I wanted to double check so I googled it and found that there is now a NEW dessert party... and it's double the price!
http://www.disneyfoodblog.com/2015/...buts-july-5th-booking-opens-march-20th-today/

Honestly it doesn't seem worth such a huge price jump to me. It says new menu additions include seasonal fruit, cheese, and character cupcakes. There was definitely fruit there last time. So an extra $25 for cheese and "character" cupcakes? No thanks. Personally, I think they'd have to be offering alcohol to justify such a huge price increase!

I can't believe how close your due date is!!!! I'm sos excited and happy for you guys. BTW, Happy belated Mother's Day!:goodvibes

I know! 10 days! Ahh!! I need to get this TR done! (Priorities, right? :rotfl:)

Happy Mother's Day to you too! :goodvibes

DH said yum!:rotfl:

 You just had the jalapeno cheese pretzel in our last update too! I know your DH loves them.

Orange Line!? So do they have their own internal bus system? I had not idea it was this big.

Me either! I still don't fully understand the FW transportation system.

What?! What happens??

You're supposed to be able to hear the characters from Finding Nemo talking under water and I think maybe music being played too.

I kept highlighting one photo to quote because it was hilarious and then I just kept scrolling and the pics kept getting more and more hilarious! :rotfl2::rotfl::lmao::laughing: These are just fantastic!

:rotfl: Glad you enjoyed!!

Okay I just don't get it. It's not like it takes much effort to go up a moving walkway, sit on a nice, slow, relaxing ride through tomorrowland with that amazing sunset and castle as your backdrop :confused3

I KNOW!!! I seriously don't get it. The whole point of the ride is to just sit back and relax and take in the glorious sights and appreciate being in Disney. Also, there's a breeze! What more can you ask for?

I would love to do this! Was there many small children in this area that you noticed? I'm more concerned about the loudness.

I honestly don't remember if there were a lot of kids at the party. I don't know if you saw my response to someone else, but I just discovered that the price of the party has doubled from $25/person to $50! I'm not sure it's really worth that, especially when you can get FP+ for a great view for free.

Episode 47

The One Where We Get in Trouble Again

After a few days of late starts (as a group anyway ), today we resumed the proper Disney touring strategy and all got up early. It was our last full day, after all

We were headed to Epcot this morning and we had just missed a bus at 8:10 and had to wait for the next one, which came about 15 minutes later. In the meantime, we counted 4 AK buses, 5 MK buses, 2 HS buses, and 1 DTD bus while we waited. Talk about frustrating!
IMG_0131.jpg
IMG_0131.jpg

IMG_0132.jpg

IMG_0133.jpg

IMG_0135.jpg

IMG_0136.jpg

We got to Epcot at 8:35 and the park opened at 8:47. We walked straight to Test Track which was already posted as a 30 minute wait but it only took 5 minutes to walk through the queue and then a few more minutes to wait to design our cars. Unfortunately, our bands didn't work with the new cars we had just built and when we scanned them just before getting on the ride they came up blank :confused3

(Looks like I took that picture just in time!)
IMG_0150.jpg

IMG_0151.jpg

Or not testing... :confused3:rotfl:

Anyway, the ride was fun even though we didn't get to see how our cars performed on the track.
wd005wdw2014226108866720_7033971094_18.jpeg

The guy riding next to DH had come through on the single rider line and told us that there was zero wait at all right now and the only difference was you don't get to design your own car or ride together. Well, that's okay, since that feature didn't seem to be working and we hardly liked each other anyway! Just kidding, but we were certainly willing to split up for another ride. We exited the building and walked right back in again through the single rider queue. There was no wait at all and we walked right through to loading. M and DH ended up in the same car by coincidence. I loaded after them and happened to pass by S who was waiting at the gate for his ride vehicle. My car stopped right in front of him for a few moments before taking off. I took the opportunity to take a quick picture of him and then he high-fived me, and then we got in trouble from a CM :blush::eek::faint::worried:
IMG_0152.jpg

Once again, I did not mean to be breaking any rules! It was just a simple high five! Looking back, I could see how it could be dangerous if S grabbed my arm and wouldn't let go and the car took off. But it was a quick high five and it was over and done with and then we got yelled at. And I don't like getting in trouble! Oops.

DH may be napping in the back of his car  and M doesn't seem to be doing anything exciting.
wd008wdw2014226108873130.jpeg

I'm clearly having fun :D
wd010wdw2014226108873227.jpeg

Oh, I guess DH and S planned to both be sleeping in their cars... How did I not realize this until right now as I'm typing this? :scratchin
wd011wdw2014226108873175.jpeg

Again, I really enjoyed fooling around taking pictures with the cars and magic backdrops. It's the little things...

Test%20Track%202.jpg

Test%20Track%203.jpg

I have a picture of a hidden Mickey from sometime this morning but I don't remember where it was. It looks like it could have been from Test Track but I'm really not sure!
IMG_4305.jpg

Oh and another note about TT: When we went through the second time on the single rider line we tried scanning our bands at the loading area to see what would happen and our new car was on there even though it didn't work 10 minutes before on the first ride! So I was able to select the new car and Bobby was able to select the car we designed earlier in the trip! It was still on his band! :thumbsup2

Next DH and I rode Mission Space (Orange) with FP+. M and S decided not to ride. The ride was so empty that there was no one else in our shuttle! DH joked that it was going to be a very long ride since there was no Engineer on board to put us into Hyper Sleep :rotfl2:
(Is there anything sexier in this world than a man making a good Disney joke? ;) )

The One with the Sights, Smells, and Tastes of the Land

We made our way across Future World toward The Land. We saw Chip and Dale walking away and DH was sad he missed them.

There is just something so viscerally Disney about the Land Pavilion. Walking in here always makes me happy. It has a smell, and not just food. I don't know what it is. But I love it.

Speaking of smells, we used our FP+ for Soarin'
I love this ride. I know it is supposed to be getting another theater and the screens/projection system are being upgraded, but I also remember hearing a while ago that there was filming happening for new scenes. I wonder if/when all this is happening. Btw, I find that watching the ride on You Tube is a wonderful pick-me-up when I need one:

IMG_0166.jpg

IMG_0164.jpg

Up next we rode Living with the Land which had a 2 minute wait, if even that.
IMG_0165.jpg

For lunch I suggested Sunshine Seasons as I had really been wanting to eat here for a long time since I had so frequently read stellar reviews. Ironically, I think I enjoyed my food the least. But I should say that there were SO many choices here and I wouldn't hesitate to eat here again and try something else.
IMG_0167.jpg

I got the beef lo mein and it was just waaaaaay too salty for me. I don't like salty food to begin and this was seriously salty. I just couldn't get past that. I'm sure others would have loved this dish and said it was perfect. I did enjoy my M&M cookie though and it was huge so I saved most of it for later.
IMG_0171.jpg

IMG_0172.jpg

DH got.... Tuna? Sorry, I'm being a very bad reporter.
IMG_0168.jpg

And a very delicious looking dessert. I'm guessing there's banana filling in there. And it looks like coconut on the sides. I wouldn't mind eating this right now, whatever it is.
IMG_0169.jpg

By the way, if you want to read legitimate food reviews from someone who actually knows what they're talking about and eats better than I do, check out @kastoney 's Dining Report (but don't do it while you're hungry!)

Looks like S got BBQ chicken and mashed potatoes.
IMG_0170.jpg

I'm pretty sure M got the same thing I did and liked it better than I did. Even though I was disappointed by my lunch, I took comfort in the fact that I knew I would soon be snacking around the world. DH and I had big plans for the afternoon...

We left the Land and shopped at Mouse Gears for a bit.
IMG_0173.jpg

IMG_0176.jpg

IMG_0177.jpg

I spent a lot of time looking for a phone case on this trip but ultimately didn't get once since I hoped to upgrade my phone soon. That was a good decision because I did get a new iphone a few months later.
IMG_0178.jpg

I loved these glow in the dark shirts but never found one I wanted in my size :sad2:
IMG_0179.jpg

I don't pin trade but I bought both of these to put on my lanyard at work. I ended up putting only the castle on for the first day of school because wearing both felt really heavy, and I figured I would switch them at some point. I never did. And I still love that castle pin so much!
IMG_0180.jpg

I didn't take a picture of it at the time, but I also bought a onesie for a future baby that didn't exist yet. I wasn't pregnant in WDW but DH and I had been planning to start trying after the trip. I wanted something that said "Disney World" and had been keeping an eye out throughout the trip. The only thing I could find that matched what I wanted said 2014 on it. Oh Disney, why must you put the date on everything? You know we will buy new merchandise anyway! Well I bought it anyway, so baby has had a Disney onesie waiting for her since before she even existed! :goodvibes

We must have also wandered back into the Art store by Spaceship Earth because I again took pictures of these:

IMG_0183.jpg

IMG_0185.jpg

IMG_0181.jpg

Then it was time for a ride on Spaceship Earth - this time in English! :thumbsup2
IMG_0186.jpg

IMG_0189.jpg

IMG_0199.jpg

I must have been wearing sunglasses on my head for the picture :rotfl:
IMG_0200.jpg

Clearly we are very excited about the future!
IMG_0202.jpg

IMG_0203.jpg

After our ride through space and time we did something we hadn't done before on this trip, and DH and I said goodbye to M and S and split up. I had been promising DH from the moment he agreed to the trip that we would take a day to drink around the world. And by "we" I mean DH will be drinking and I will be documenting it and eating. M and S were off to DTD for some shopping and then back to AoA for some relaxing.

Disclaimer: I do NOT in any way, shape, or form condone relaxing on one's LAST FULL DAY in Disney :snooty:

As far as getting in trouble AGAIN: thank God, for your future (soon to be!) daughters sake, that your name didn't get put on a "no entry" list or anything like that lol! But just in case Disney goes by the "3 strikes you're out" rule, you and DH better be on your best behavior next trip ;);)

The One with Drinking Around the World - Part 1

It rained for a few minutes as we started off toward WS, but DH's spirits could not be dampened. He was super excited for this challenge and had actually been talking about it for months! I left it up to him which side he wanted to start on and he chose Mexico!
IMG_0204.jpg

IMG_0205.jpg

IMG_0211.jpg

IMG_0212.jpg

Here we are!
IMG_0213.jpg

I've said it before and I'll say it again: I love the inside of Mexico.
IMG_0214.jpg

And guess who we found in here!
wd012wdw2014226108988926_7033972808_18.jpeg

Yup, DH was willing to take a picture with him alone, and he certainly doesn't look sad about it. There's a Disney loving side to him deep down in there somewhere. I'll expose it all one day and it will be like squeezing a tube of toothpaste - once it's out it doesn't go back in! :cool1:

wd015wdw2014226108988929.jpeg

I just realized DH even dressed for Drinking Around the World, wearing his Guinness shirt

It was time to get this adventure started, and we headed into La Cava del Tequila. Can you tell he's psyched?
IMG_0217.jpg

IMG_0221.jpg

Now you may assume he would have gotten a Margarita since we're in Mexico in a bar known for its Tequila. However, DH had an unfortunate incident with a margarita a few years ago at dinner. We shared some food and he had a margarita and then was incredibly sick the next day and I wasn't. He assumes it was the drink, although he may have just had a stomach bug, and he can't get over that association and has not touched a margarita since! So his first drink of the day was a rather uninteresting...

:drinking1
DRINK #1: Dos Equis ($8.52)
IMG_0218.jpg

IMG_4309.jpg

We sat at a table and relaxed while DH enjoyed his beer, but as soon as he was done we wasted no time in moving on to Norway. It was still a bit rainy.
IMG_0223.jpg

IMG_0224.jpg

IMG_0225.jpg

We found a cart serving beer with no line. We chatted with the CM for a bit and he told us that he loves living in Orlando but it's very hot. Ha, ya think? And coming from Norway... I can't even imagine! He was also telling us about how it's sunny almost all hours of the day in the summer and dark almost all hours of the day in winter. How strange that must be. He also commented that the sun seems to set very fast in Florida which is something we had noticed too. It started thundering while we were talking and another CM came over to tell him to close up the cart and he was very excited about getting to close early. Hey, I would be too! More free time to play in Disney! And don't worry, he didn't close until after DH ordered his beverage.

:drinking1DRINK #2: Carlsberg ($8.75)
IMG_0226.jpg

Interestingly, when DH tried to tip the CM, he told us he wasn't allowed to accept tips. I wonder if it's because he was working a cart and not as part of a restaurant?

DH went to get a table under cover while I went on an important mission of my own: to acquire school bread!
IMG_0228.jpg

IMG_0229.jpg

IMG_0230.jpg

IMG_0231.jpg

IMG_0234.jpg

The line was really long and moving very slowly. I started talking to two women on line in front of me who had a family member who lives in Norway and they were telling me about visiting there. It was interesting. Then I started chatting with a couple who were also drinking around the world. They ordered a shot that they said was supposed to taste like licorice. I think it was this. Anyway, once I finally got my beloved school bread I found DH sitting outside looking chipper.
IMG_4310.jpg

He couldn't possibly be sick of me taking pictures of him drinking already!? Don't worry, that was fake grouchiness. He was actually still excited about drinking around the world and became even more excited when I offered to share my delicious school bread with him.
IMG_0233.jpg

After eating/drinking the weather had cleared up and we found a photopass photographer who much have been pretty bored because he took a LOT of photos of us.

I find this photo location amusing because it looks like I'm about to be decapitated. How romantic.

The One with Drinking Around the World - Part 2

Up next we traveled 4,000 miles east to China.
IMG_0237.jpg

We explored the pavilion for a bit before continuing the drinking.

IMG_0240.jpg

We watched Reflections of China (my first time!) and it was pretty cool. While we were there we saw the same couple we met in Norway who was also drinking around the world.

Up next was Germa.... wait... why are we stopping here? This isn't a country!
IMG_0269.jpg

I tried to inform DH that we didn't need to stop at the African Outpost to complete Drinking Around the World but he wasn't having it. Our conversation went something like this:

:chat:
Me: This isn't one of the 11 World Showcase Countries!
DH: Does it serve alcohol?
Me: Yes, but...
DH: Then it counts!
Me: But it's not a country!
DH: Does it serve alcohol?
Me: Yes, BUT...
DH: [Goes and orders a drink]

:confused3

:drinking1DRINK #4: Safari Amber ($7.46)

We sat at a table overlooking the water near some rocks that made me feel more like I was on Tatooine than in Africa. We had a nice view though.

IMG_0273.jpg

So this extra detour meant that DH would now need to finish 12 drinks instead of 11 to complete this challenge. Great... :rolleyes1

The One with Drinking Around the World - Part 3

We finally made it to Germany and our first stop was for a snack. I got a milk chocolate covered caramel with salt. It was literally heavy to hold in my hand but super duper tasty. I don't usually like the taste of salt but this was perfect with the chocolate and caramel. I give it six thumbs up. I took my treat to a table in the covered area right outside Biergarten and nibbled on it while I waited for DH to order his drink and join me.

We both needed a bathroom break at this point so I suggested we go into Biergarten and use the bathrooms in the restaurant. I kind of wanted to check it out anyway. I suggested eating here on this trip but it's really not M or S's cup of tea... or plate of Bratwurst :lmao: Anyway, we walked in through the double doors and there happened to be some entertainment going on on the stage. We walked through the restaurant, used the bathrooms, met up again and watched the musicians for a minute or two, and then headed back out. As we walked back outside someone was asking the CM at the door (who hadn't been there when we went in) if they could use the bathroom in the restaurant and the CM politely told them that they weren't allowed and directed them to other restrooms. Oops! We broke the rules AGAIN! :faint: We just kept on walking and didn't get caught or in trouble this time. Phew. Because that would have made 3 times in just two days! And who knows what the consequences would've been for that! (Right, @ariane37??)

Back outside and in the clear, we enjoyed the sights around the pavilion. Hidden Mickey! See it?

DH decided he wanted a wine here. Not knowing much about wine (neither of us do as I don't drink it because it guarantees me a migraine) he asked the CM what he should get. She asked him if he wanted red or white (he chose red) and dry, medium dry, soft, or sweet (he chose soft). Based on his answers, she suggested...

We snagged a high table outside just as Sergio started to perform the same show we saw three years ago here. DH recognized it right away and had to remind me what the show was as I didn't remember. Once he got started in his act it all came back to me. DH enjoyed his wine while we watched the show.

The One with Drinking Around the World - Part 4

Next up was the host country in the back of the pavilion, the American Adventure!
IMG_0310.jpg

IMG_0313.jpg

We didn't spend long here. As far as Drinking Around the World goes, the United States wasn't a very exciting stop :rotfl:

:drinking1DRINK #7: Sam Adams Summer Ale ($7.46)

IMG_0314.jpg

It was at this point that I realized DH was starting to act a little silly.
IMG_4318.jpg

He was having a grand ol' time nursing that beer (and singing songs?) and then I also realized that I was quite hungry. So I made DH take the beer with him and we headed over to Japan in search of food.

We went right to the quick service restaurant where I ordered the Curry Chicken Cutlet. It was absolutely delicious. I still think about this meal from time to time as I haven't found anything just like it around here.
IMG_0318.jpg

By the time I ordered this DH was ready for the next drink.

:drinking1DRINK #8: Cold Sake ($6.89)

IMG_0317.jpg

IMG_0320.jpg

I hadn't eaten here before and it was quite pretty and had nice views out the window since it was up high.
IMG_0322.jpg

So at 8 drinks deep, DH became reflective and started talking about Disney and all the things he likes about it. :hyper: This was totally unprompted by the way. He just started talking on his own. He did mention that he doesn't like how expensive the trip was, but then added that you get what you pay for. (Yup, I totally agree. Disney ain't no Six Flags. You won't find buy one get one free admission on a coke can but Disney is a highly superior product.) He also said that World Showcase is his favorite because of all the hard work and planning and detail that clearly went into it. So apparently all I needed to do all this time was just get some drink in him and he'd start pouring his little Disney-loving heart out :lovestruc Unfortunately, even though he clearly has an appreciation for WDW, he definitely isn't desperate to go back anytime soon. He knows that I want to take the baby while she's still free and he's on the fence about her still being too young at 3. I, of course, disagree, and we'll see how things go. But in my head, I'm already started to mull over the possibilities for a late fall trip in 2017 when she's 2 and a half... :rolleyes1

Anyway, back in 2014 we walked around Japan a bit and took some photopass pictures.

I don't know how I messed this up but anyway........BOY you guys are lucky the CM didn't catch you, AGAIN! I think DH has the right idea about taking a break for a couple years......you guys need to work on your behavior!

And what I want to know about the hidden mickey is, how did YOU see it all the way up there?? BTW, the salad I'm eating right now was really tasty - till I saw your picture of my beloved school bread. Now my salad is kind of blah :(

:rotfl2: I KNOW!! I actually totally forgot that this happened until I read it in my notes as I was writing the update. Oops!!

I don't remember where I first learned about that hidden mickey but I certainly didn't discover it on my own. I'd seen it on past trips too but I must have seen it/read about it somewhere else first. I'm terrible at finding them.

And I'm so sorry I ruined your salad :sad2: That is really sad. You weren't able to close your eyes and pretend you could taste the coconut and custard? :p

Episode 53

The One with Drinking Around the World - Part 5

Next up was the real African country in WS (as opposed to the fake one at the Refreshment Outpost): Morocco! There was a live band playing as we approached and they sounded great. I was really into it, but unfortunately what we were hearing was their last song and a minute later they were done. Oh well.
IMG_0328.jpg

IMG_0330.jpg

IMG_0331.jpg

:drinking1DRINK #9: Casa Beer ($6.99)
IMG_0332.jpg

IMG_4320.jpg

I have written in my notes that this beer was imported from Morocco. We sat down at a table and relaxed and took in the pretty sights. Then we explored the pavilion. It goes back really far and there are lots of nooks and crannies.
IMG_0335.jpg

IMG_0336.jpg

Up next was another snack for me as we traveled to France.
IMG_0337.jpg

IMG_0338.jpg

IMG_0339.jpg

IMG_0340.jpg

Our destination... L'Artisan des Glaces
IMG_0341.jpg

IMG_0345.jpg

I got mint chocolate chip ice cream in a waffle cone and it was yummy. Although after seeing pictures of the snack that @Leshaface had in her TR, I am wishing I had been more adventurous and tried it on the
Brioche bun. Oh well, must go back!
IMG_0343.jpg

Meanwhile, DH didn't want any ice cream and he was acting...umm...sillier and sillier. I think he was watching someone outside. And not being very stealthy about it I might add :rotfl2:
IMG_0342.jpg

Then it was DH's turn for a treat. He once again went with a CM recommendation. It was pretty crowded in here and we didn't get to sit down.

:drinking1DRINK #10: Bourdeaux ($8.50)

IMG_0346.jpg

IMG_4321.jpg

For some reason I took a hundred photos of DH here. Maybe because he was cracking me up. I'll spare you and only post a couple though.

IMG_0349.jpg

IMG_0350.jpg

Tired of standing and getting bumped into as people walked in and out we eventually left and DH finished his wine as we walked around.
IMG_0353.jpg

Soon I'm going to need a new word to describe how DH was feeling and acting. He had definitely graduated beyond "silly" at this point... and we weren't done yet!:lmao:

We continued walking to the UK, taking our time to take in the gorgeous scenery and so DH could maybe sober up at least a teeny bit before the next beverage. It was at this point that a few weird things happened. We stopped by the water to take in the view when I noticed a salamander. Have I mentioned before that I love salamanders? Sometimes I'll try to catch them like I used to when I was little and we would visit my grandparents in Florida.
IMG_0354.jpg

What I didn't know when I took this picture was that I was capturing the last few moments of this poor little guy's life! A second after I snapped this, DH reached for him and as he tried to hurry away to safety he actually fell into the water! We looked over the railing and actually saw it flailing around in the water (Can salamanders swim? I don't even know!) A moment later we saw one of DH's beloved ducks making a beeline for the lizard and a few moments after that the duck devoured him! :scared: It all happened so fast and was so bizarre and kind of sad but also kind of cool to see nature in action like that. Of course, none of this would have happened if DH hadn't drunkenly attacked the salamander. And then once our shock wore off we were both hysterical laughing, like, what just happened!?

We were still laughing our butts off when these three guys came over to us and asked us to take their picture. I took the camera and as I'm photographing them I realize that one of them is wearing a t-shirt with his own face on it. There was something written too but I don't remember what it was and didn't write it down, but I do remember it was strange. Then I noticed one of them was holding a doll. So I had to ask what that was about. He showed me the doll up close and I commented that it looked a lot like James Franco. Well, DUH, he explained, that's because it IS James Franco! They told me they have an Instagram account for the doll and the real James Franco follows them. I asked them if this picture would get posted on the account and they said maybe. Well, I checked later and while the account does exist (I linked it above) the picture I took never made it on to the site! Boo! But anyway, this whole encounter was really quite bizarre and DH and I never even finished laughing about the salamander incident so once the doll people walked away we continued to laugh our butts off for a long time. Then I took more scenery pictures.
IMG_0357.jpg

IMG_0358.jpg

IMG_0359.jpg

IMG_0360.jpg

Soon we found ourselves in the UK.
IMG_0362.jpg

IMG_0363.jpg

We looked around the stores in the UK for Winnie the Pooh merchandise since we had already talked about that being the theme for future-baby's room, but we didn't find much. What we did find, though, was Pooh and Tigger! The line was really long though and it was starting to thunder and rain again so we headed to the pub with a plan of getting DH's drink and bringing it to Canada where we would take cover.
IMG_0364.jpg

IMG_0365.jpg

:drinking1
DRINK #11: Guinness (I didn't write down the price! Ugh!!!!! I'm going to guess it was around $8.50)
IMG_0367.jpg

After I snapped a quick pic of his drink (but failed to take accurate notes on the price :headache:) we scurried off to Canada as the thunderstorm approached. We spent a lot of time wandering around there, not because we liked exploring in the rain, but we were trying to find a bathroom.
IMG_0369.jpg

IMG_0370.jpg

We ended up going into Le Cellier and asking a CM who directed us to go all the way to the refreshment port by the entrance to WS! (Flashback to Germany when we heard the CM telling a guest they couldn't use the bathroom in the restaurant) Having no choice we walked all the way over and while DH was in the bathroom I may or may not have poured some of his Guinness out in the water fountain :upsidedow He was 11 drinks deep at this point and with one still to go I needed to try to ensure that we wouldn't have to cut our last full day short due to the extreme "silliness" that was ensuing. He had no idea that part of his drink was missing when he got out of the bathroom. That may have been because he was too distracted chasing the ducks.
IMG_0374.jpg

He has noooooooooo clue that some of his drink is missing
I mean... may be missing.
IMG_4323.jpg

It was still thundering and really starting to rain so we hurried all the way back to Canada so DH could get his final drink. And then disaster struck...

First, hope you're continuing to feel good. You gotta be in the home stretch, right?
By the way, if you want to read legitimate food reviews from someone who actually knows what they're talking about and eats better than I do, check out @kastoney 's Dining Report (but don't do it while you're hungry!)
Thanks for the shoutout :o I think if you handle the trips and I handle the food, together we make a whole trip/dining reporter ; )

DH had an unfortunate incident with a margarita a few years ago at dinner.
Oh no, you gotta tell him to get over that and try the avocado margarita. That thing can change a man.

DRINK #1: Dos Equis ($8.52)
Had to laugh at $8.52 for a clear solo cup of dos equis. Think I paid $24 for a case at Costco the other day ; )

Interestingly, when DH tried to tip the CM, he told us he wasn't allowed to accept tips. I wonder if it's because he was working a cart and not as part of a restaurant?
I've had the same thing happen in Germany too an with a front desk attendant. Don't understand the who can/can't take tips.

He was actually still excited about drinking around the world and became even more excited when I offered to share my delicious school bread with him.
Ahh, school bread. Thank god they didn't throw that out with Maelstrom

I don't usually like the taste of salt but this was perfect with the chocolate and caramel. I give it six thumbs up.
What no salt???? I could literally eat a whole tablespoon full, but apparently that is frowned upon. Love the karamels.

Oops! We broke the rules AGAIN!
You are definitely going to Disney jail

It was at this point that I realized DH was starting to act a little silly.
Almost half way though, that is pretty good numbers wise

So at 8 drinks deep, DH became reflective and started talking about Disney and all the things he likes about it.
I knew he was a softy deep down. His smiles in pictures just can't be faked.

I, of course, disagree, and we'll see how things go. But in my head, I'm already started to mull over the possibilities for a late fall trip in 2017 when she's 2 and a half.
We got 2 in before our daughter turned 3, so definitely work on his financial sensibilities. I had a self imposed no diapers in disney rule, so 2 1/2 worked perfect.

Although after seeing pictures of the snack that @Leshaface had in her TR, I am wishing I had been more adventurous and tried it on the Brioche bun.
Whenever I finally get mine she will be firmly blamed, I mean thanked, too

Well, I checked later and while the account does exist (I linked it above) the picture I took never made it on to the site! Boo!

I'm glad I know not to wear sunglasses on my head during Spaceship Earth. ;)

Eating and drinking around the world sounds very fun! I know I couldn't drink all the way around the world in one day (it would NOT end well! ), but doing so in a few chunks or throughout the vacation would be interesting.

I am really looking forward to finally going into La Cava. I do intend to have a margarita (and likely some chips and queso, too!).

You do have the same picture of the ceiling in the China pavilion! I love it! :goodvibes

Thanks, I do still feel really good. I'm now only 9 days away from my due date! :scared1:

Agree! Especially since that would require me to take more trips ;)

Haha, I will tell him! Let's see what he says...

That actually doesn't sound so bad. Is it on property? :lovestruc

That's great to hear! I actually mentioned my thoughts to DH last night. I told him we could use some of our many Starpoints (which will accumulate even more since we're clearly not taking any vacations anytime soon) to stay at the Swan or Dolphin during Food & Wine and then we'd be walking distance to Epcot. His response was, "Why would we go for food & wine with a baby?" I'm okay with that answer because it wasn't a NO! It's a step in the right direction!!

Whenever I finally get mine she will be firmly blamed, I mean thanked, too

Yup! Us and 10,000 other people

Episode 54

The One After Drinking Around the World

We had just left Canada to trek all the way to the bathrooms at the entrance to WS and were now trekking all the way back so DH could get his final drink. It was still raining and thundering so we hurried to the drink kiosk in front of the pavilion and found the CMs closing up the cart! :scared1: DH tried to order a beer, even though the cart was almost completely covered up already  and the CMs told him that they had to close due to the thunder (Flashback to Norway when they did the same exact thing). We asked where else he could get a drink in Canada and they said... nowhere. Inside Le Cellier was the only other option. Which really wasn't an option.

And DH was like
barney%20no.gif

And I had a mix of feelings. On one hand I felt bad for him and was disappointed, but on the other hand, I was okay with him NOT drinking another drink... He was devastated but I told him we could come back later. He wasn't really comforted. (I think I waited a little while before pointing out that if we had skipped the African Outpost like I suggested this wouldn't have happened :rolleyes1)

Just as this was unfolding, M called and told me they were back at Epcot and heading our way and they wanted to use the bathroom. Well, we happened to know where to find one nearby, so we headed back to that cursed bathroom to meet them and then hung around under the cover there from the rain. DH fed the ducks and fish for a while which seemed to cheer him up (Is he my husband or child?) and now that I'm thinking about it that's probably not allowed either. M and S were entertained by DH's state of being and the stories we had about our adventures. When the rain slowed a bit we decided to go to dinner early and see if they would take us.

Dinner was at Via Napoli in Italy, a place I had never eaten at before but had read many wonderful things about.
IMG_0376.jpg

IMG_0377.jpg

It was super crowded but after waiting 10 minutes they were able to seat us early. It was 7:25 at this point.

We all shared a Cheese Pizza, DH and I shared Fried Calamari, and M and S shared Chicken Parmesan. The calamari came out first as an appetizer and it was pretty good, nothing to write home about though.
IMG_0379.jpg

I thought the pizza was just okay too. I've had much better Italian food at home. I suppose that's one of the perks of living in this area ;)
IMG_0378.jpg

The chicken parm came out at least twenty minutes after the pizza. DH and I were completely done eating before they got it. Our server explained that the chicken and the pizza came out of two different kitchens. Well okay... then time it better? It wasn't an overall great dining experience and especially disappointing because it was our last dinner of the trip. They did sing happy birthday to me though :goodvibes
IMG_4325.jpg

I wonder how much of this meal DH actually remembers. I should ask him :rolleyes1

We decided to not get an official spot to watch Illuminations but instead walked back to Future World to catch what we could from there so we could make a quick exit afterwards. The weather had cleared up and it was a very pretty night.
IMG_4326.jpg

IMG_4327.jpg

IMG_4329.jpg

IMG_4334.jpg

As we left WS, DH didn't ask to get that last drink from Canada and I certainly wasn't going to suggest it. He did have 11 drinks, and there are 11 countries, and he survived without throwing up or passing out, so I'll call that a win ::yes::
Of course, that doesn't stop me from reminding him to this day that if only he had listened to me he would have finished! But really there are a hundred "if only"s: If only we hadn't wasted so much time looking for a bathroom in Canada, if only DH hadn't stopped to feed the ducks, if only we didn't take pictures of the James Franco doll people... :rotfl: I think it's clear that the moral of the story is...listen to your wifey! Just kidding. We had a really fun day together and we still tell stories and laugh about it, and to me that's what Disney is all about anyway: making special memories to last a lifetime :lovestruc

IMG_4336.jpg

We took a million photos that didn't come out. I'll share some here ;)

IMG_4344.jpg

IMG_4354.jpg

IMG_4356.jpg

And then we enjoyed Illuminations from very far away (in front of the Fountain of Nations) with very few people around us which was nice. I was feeling really sad that it was our last night, but we had such an amazing trip and I tried to focus on that and just soaking in the magic while I still could.

We had to wait a while for a bus but at least we were one of the first ones to the bus stop. We saw the Frozen fireworks as we walked back to our room at AoA and all passed out immediately.

**I made a Vine of DH drinking around the world. I'd never really used Vine before so I didn't totally know what I was doing. I think it came out pretty well EXCEPT that I totally forgot we didn't finish it because I was saving time at the end for Canada! So when I realized it the next morning I just filmed DH doing jazz hands as if to say "Look! I survived!" It's a totally ridiculous ending because we're clearly somewhere else (I filmed it at the AoA bus stop) and he's wearing different clothes. I was mad that he ruined my vine by not finishing the challenge! :lmao:I wonder if there was a way for me to just end it without actually finishing filming, but like I said I really don't know how to use vine. Oh well!
