Are there any entrance signs or anything still visible? For some reason I seem to recall a rolling steel drum that said River Country on the side. However, it's very possible that my memory is incorrect.
No. The only part of the old River County area that is accessible to guests is the old entry area, and the central area that is around the old Pop's Place restaurant. Everything else is fenced off.
You can watch the Electric Water Pageant from Clementine's Beach, which is adjacent to the River Country entrance.
I could be wrong & I don't have the time right now to do the research, but wasn't RC closed due to an Orlando ordinance saying that all water parks had to use municipal water? For some reason I remember somebody saying that retrofitting RC to use municipal water would of been too expensive, so therefore they closed it. Anybody else remember that?
On my first visit to WDW in 98, my wife & I only had time to visit 2 of the 3 water parks. We went to TL & BB. I wish we would of went to RC instead of BB, oh well...

My son ventured back there in june, full of weeds, snakes, green water, spider webs. I posted these before but thought i'd post them again.
I agree!! - especailly where the pool at FW is less than desireable (compared to the resorts). I haven't read all the posts yet, but I went there many times as a kid and had a blast!! Minus the fact that you could get some weird and nasty parasite from the water... We stayed at FW 5 years ago and took a sneak peak at the "ruins" . It was very sad to see it all go to waste. I think Disney scavanged some of the decor from RC for esthetics and things at BTMRR and Splash Mtn...
