The Old Disney Card Gone Forever

I just got a letter that as of 10/1 The Disney Card will no longer be in business. You can still continue to make payments but no more charges will be allowed.

I am really bummed out. This was my first credit card.

No, they are talking about a Disney card which could only be used to buy hings directly from Disney...NOT the Disney Visa.

Another sad change. There has been so many changes this year, it's getting really hard to maintain my enthusiasm for Disney anymore.

Make me the third person on this thread who had this card as her first charge card ever! After a few years of this policy, they began being very strict about only letting people with established credit open accounts with them. I'm glad we all got in before the policy changed.

It's the end of an era.

I am surprised this didn't happen as soon as the VISA program began. I know many store CC switch to VISA branded cards and stoped the store cards all together.

OH MAN!!!!! And I have all the cards they offered (for a price of course) Like the Silver one for the 25th Anniversary, and the Animal Kingdom one,,,,HOW SAD!!!! I have had this card for 10 years----boo hoo!!!!! Have not received my letter yet ,,but I am sure its comimg!!!!!

I got my letter on Friday, I was and was not surprised to get it. Last year I spoke with someone at Disney Credit Card and they told me they would be phasing it out in 5 years due to the new Visa Card, so I figured I had a few years on it. We too used it to make the deposit on my ressies.

As a last "hurrah"...I may call tonight and charge the rest of my November trip on my pretty purple Disney Credit Card...so I can have one final goodbye payment...oh, parting is such sweet sorrow...boo hoo :-(

I just spent 30 minutes on the phone with Disneydirect.com because I have 5 backordered items that were charged to my Disney Credit Card. Since some of the orders will come in after October 1, I had to switch the credit card to my Visa since Disneydirect does not charge to your card until your order is shipped. I didn't want them to try to charge my card after October 1, see that it's declined and cancel my orders.
