We've been following this story on the Tell No Tales message board. I'm glad Disney officially announced something.

Since it is re-opening later than Disneyland and is not as extensive a re-do then I'm guessing the rumored 4/16 - 7/3 closure dates from MK cast members is correct so you March people may luck out. We arrive on the 15th so we will just make it.

As much as I hate to admit it, I think the attraction in the Magic Kingdom will benefit from the additions. When we were there this past weekend the ride was a walk-on, even on Sunday afternoon.

And there's lots of movie-related merchandise in the gift shop.

I got closure dates from someone I know in the WDW maintenance shop. But since he gave me the dates a couple of months ago, I'm trying to confirm them. At the time he told me April 24 through July 4.

The last scene (the treasure scene) is supposed to be gutted and replaced with a Jack Sparrow AA interacting with a parrot.

I had been reading that the closing/ refurbishment dates at WDW would be May through August. This never made sense since the movie is opening in July. Happy to see that the ride will be open when I go in August and that it will have been refurbished.

I think that’s great news. The movie was very good and the ride is showing its age so I think it’s a great idea. I love this ride and I have since I was a kid and I would hate for this ride to lose relevance and go away. I am not sure who the bone head who thought to close it peak time is but I am glad it will be open when we are there in Aug.

I love Captain Jack too, but I am totally bummed because my husband and I just booked a trip to DL in March! We were there two years ago and it was closed then as well. I'm sad because now I will never have seen the original...

well i think some of you are getting your rehabs confused. there are two refurbisments planned. One for the gift shop... it wil have a meet and greet area added for peter pan/wendy, captain hook/smee and jack sparrow.

that probably wont take as long and is probably the august opening date we are hearing. the ride will be down till july.
