I believe I've confessed to cheating on you ocassionally with Paula Deen.:lmao:

That is not cheating...that is branching out :lmao::lmao::lmao:

Glynis- I hope that the judge can resolve it so that this trial ends soon and Alan comes home.

Lindsay- my go to marinade in teriyake sauce, pineapple juice, olive oil and garlic or ginger.

Oh, I just wanted to share that I am so proud of my cousin! She raised over 10k at her fundraiser!!! :) She did a tricky tray, 50/50, and a loose change jar. It was such a wonderful day for a wonderful cause...a number of CHD charities will benefit. I just wanted to share.

That is fabulous and certainly a reason to be proud! Good for her. It's nice that all her hard work paid off for those who can really use it. :cheer2:

Gretchen - I thought I had posted a standard "smothering" recipe that can be used for pork, chicken, steak, etc., but I don't see it, anyhoo:

No measurements here - dredge pork in flour and brown in EVOO. Add sliced onions, bell peppers, mushrooms and minced garlic, creole seasoning and some wine or water to make a gravy. Reduce heat to low and let it smother away!!

Yum. You had me at gravy.

I did enjoy it. Erica had to choose one for me because I had never had one before. The atmosphere was relaxing, the staff very nice and the morning just wonderful. Plan enough time to enjoy the hot tub or sauna.

I hate to say to have a good time tonight, but I will say good for Kenny's Uncle!

Thanks for the report on the spa and I agree about the atta boy for Kenny's Uncle. They are both at the hospital now and I am waiting to hear back from him. I appreciate your kind words and understanding, especially since I am having such a difficult time understanding Kenny's father not wanting to see anyone, even his own children.

The trial that DH is covering looked like it was going to end today. At 11:00 last night the jury told the judge that they were close to a verdict but wanted to sleep on it. When they got back this morning, there was a delay, and the judge dismissed one of the jurors. No one is being told why, yet, and the judge is now interviewing all the jurors to see if there has been some contamination. I seriously hope not, because that would mean starting all over, and DH would be gone for at least another week. Hopefully, they can slip one of the alternates in, get him/her up to date, and deliberate. Best case scenario would be that they come back with a verdict tomorrow, and Alan would be home by Thursday afternoon. That's what I'm praying for. My kids are missing their daddy so very much!!!

I hope your husband comes home soon. I know you all miss him very much.

Ahem, your WFD friends might buy some from you, even pay for shipping. Ahem, ahem, like me :)

Me too. Me too. (insert jumping up and down with arms waving smilie here)

Keep it! Becky and I love Artist Point. We weren't able to get an ADR there for our upcoming trip due to our larger party size.

Thanks. I think I'll keep it. I would really like my parents to see Wilderness Lodge. I think they would love it.

Gretchen - If your family loves gravy as much as mine, I always keep packs of the gravy mixes on hand and mix up a batch and throw it in with whatever I'm smothering.:goodvibes

Jumping into the gravy discussion...

Are we talking brown gravy (eh, just okay) or white gravy (the stuff dreams are made of)?

Hey all,
Last night I had Digiorno Cheese Stuffed crust Pizza and a bottle of Edge Wine. http://www.edgewines.com/ It was a good rich jammy Cabernet Sauvignon.

Tonight is pot luck - because DH doesn't like any of my suggestions for dinner - so Suprise!! Make it yourself!!! :thumbsup2

I believe I'll have Ramen noodles - or some homemade soup.

Laura, If you're doing the wings in Lauren's vietnamese marinade, it is going to be so good!!! We really loved that one for the grill!:goodvibes

Awesome! That is what I am making. Of course, I failed to read the part about marinating overnight, so they've only been in the marinade for a couple hours, but I'm going to chance it anyway.

Aimee- I cannot speak for anyone else, but I am talking about anything gravy! I'll take brown gravy, chicken gravy, turkey gravy....I love pork gravy, sweet sauces and cream sauces. If I can put it on meat and potatoes or dip my bread in it.....for me that is gravy.

Now you can see one reason I am having issues with my weight, can't you :confused3

.

That wine sounds great! I'll have to look for it here? Reasonably priced Napa Cab would be a good one for my wine cellar! ;)

If you have a lot of marinade surrounding the chicken it should get in there! I don't know why but it reminded us of Chinese barbecue chicken wings. Even though we didn't add any barbecue at all, just took it out of the marinade, dried it & grilled. Mmmm yummy! Oh now I'm really hungry!

:rotfl2: Love it!!! Nancy you us southern gals are with you on that! :lmao:

I like gravy too, but only chicken or turkey--though I've never had white gravy so the door is open on that.

You guys are going to be seeing some different dishes from me thrown in to the mix in the next weeks. A friend of mine from another forum sent me a HUGE box of foods from New Orleans. Now I have all these different New Orleans things to cook with. I've got red beans and rice, some jambalaya stuff, all kinds of different spices and mustards, beignet mix...she even sent me grits! I think I am going to make a shrimp and grits dish like one that I saw on No Reservations recently.

Tonight though, I think I am just making paninis so we can watch the game.

Glynis, is Alan covering the Jeffs trial? I saw they came back with a verdict this afternoon after replacing an alternate last night.

Lindsay you could put your chicken in that marinade up to overnight and it would be just fine. In fact the longer you leave it the better it will taste.

I really have to figure out the multi quote thing because I had more people to respond to, but now I have to go back and look at everything again!

:yay: :yay: I can't wait for your twist on our foods!!!! Thanks to whoever sent it to you, wish I'd have thought of that.;)

THE TRIAL IS OVER!!!! Hooray!!!! DH will be home tomorrow afternoon!!!!! Can you tell I'm excited? Alan just called and told me. I can't wait until the kids get home from school so I can tell them. They will be thrilled!

Gretchen, DEFINITELY keep your ADR at Artist Point. You will love it! I have to give you a couple of recommendations. The smoky portobello mushroom soup is TO DIE FOR (if you like mushrooms of course), and the cedar planked salmon is also amazing. Artist Point also has an excellent cheese plate, which we sometimes have instead of a sweet dessert (with wine of course! ;) ). Plus, you can't beat the atmosphere at "The Logger," as we fondly call it!

The power of prayer.....;)

The gal we had over when I made the Mexican Feast is coming over on Friday. She has the day off. We are going to hang out and she's going to teach me how to mount my Disney pins in a shadow box (I got a ton on my honeymoon and they are just collecting dust). I wanted to have as much as I could done ahead of time, getting the chicken marinating was one thing.

I will do it first thing that morning, then :)

Well the kids wouldn't eat the pot roast last night.... so it's masquerading as "beef stew" tonight. :rotfl: More carrots, potatoes and then some DUMPLINGS! Oh how devious of me.:lmao:

Count me in on the gravy train. I love gravy. I love sausage gravy and biscuits.

liamsaunt Grits reminds me of polenta. Coral reef makes a good grits they put in pepper jack cheese.

I second the mushroom soup and the salmon at Artist point. This time I think I'm trying something different, maybe.

Ok off to find something for dinner.
