Anyway, last night was seared tuna with oyster sauce and sugar snap peas and mushrooms sauteed with chicken broth, garlic, and ground ginger. It was yummy.

Did you make the oyster sauce yourself or did you buy it like I would have to do? If you made it, was it hard? The dinner does sound delicious, BTW.

Lori---boring???????????? Never! Warped?????? Hmmmmm, let me think what to do................ Now I am never happy unless I have Buddy's knickers in a twist so I vote to let him eat crow You'll thank me later :coffee:

:rotfl: :rotfl:

Lori I used to have a recipe for black bird pie.

:lmao: :lmao:

Yeah, but we can't eat beignets everyday now can we! Can we??? :lmao:

Where is that tag fairy?!? :rolleyes1 I think I like the motto as much as I do the others.

Hey All! Just quickly checking in to tell you the concert was great!!! No crazy hairstyles though! :) It was a great show...Blake and Chris R. were beat boxing together and alot of them played instruments. There was a part where the guys formed a "band" and played and sang together. Alot of Bon Jovi was sang...we are in NJ of course!!! ;)

Glad you had a good time.

Glynis - your children are precious! I love that you captured some of their personality in each picture.

Kathy - I glad Johnny did well with the surgery. I hope the doctor is right and he is doing well enough to go back to work Monday and that he isn't miserable for the next couple of days.

Sheryl - I don't blame you one bit for being frustrated with your family over the dining arrangements. I would probably be angry. DH's father and step-mother don't include my daughter in their invitations to their home, so I don't go either. I firmly believe if my child isn't welcome, then I'm not either. I wish I could be as understanding as you have been with your family, but I am still hurt over it and it has certainly changed how I feel about both of them. I was so angry when it first happened I spent half the night oiling my kitchen cabinets. I haven't confronted them out of respect for Kenny, but boy, do I want to.

Happy Birthday, Lindsay!!

Glynis, the kids are SO cute! Thanks for sharing their pictures with us!

Tonight I'm planning on having leftover spaghetti... it's church night and we have a huge business meeting so we may be here all night. I had Macaroni Grill for lunch and am so stuffed I want to take a nap now so we'll see if I eat much of anything. I told DH he's on his own.

Jarred, from the asian section. Do I look crazy to you?!?:lmao: I finally figured out that was the flavor I like from our take out place so I bought some. But have to use it sparingly because of the sodium in it. That's why I leave out the white rice too(well, not cause of the sodium, but with the water held from sodium and the binding starches in the rice, well, you get the picture:lmao: ) TMI I know.

Rick likes the naked tenders from Buffalo Wild Wings, so I'm thawing chicken breasts to grill and have BW3 sauces (terriaki for me, mango habenaro for Rick) and some steamed veggies. And after dreaming about the F&WF last night I got a Chenin Blanc to go with. It was amazing, I dreamt about wine and woke up tasting it! Now if only it happened that way all the time!:rolleyes1

Gretchen - This just breaks my heart.:sad1: What are they thinking??

Gretchen, That would be a good tag wouldn't it!!! :goodvibes

I have to tell you that my family isn't as bad as your's sounds! They don't want your daughter at family gatherings at all?! That's horrible! I can't even imagine how much that hurts!:sad1: My family doesn't exclude Bob, they just don't get it, that he's not comfortable when he can only get into one room at my Mom's house and can't even eat with the rest of the family. Or at my brother's he has to stay outside. (Although my brother only does seafood boils or barbecues, but still when it's really hot & everyone ends up inside to cool off, he can't.) And the bathrooms are almost always just not workable at all. It's mostly my Mom and I really don't think she means any harm, she just doesn't understand. :confused3

Warped a definite maybe, crazy? well I don't think so!;)

Lori, What a coincidence! I wake up tasting wine too! Mmm, But I think it's from the bottle consumed right before falling asleep!!! :confused3  :

I bought 12 ears of corn at the grocery store!! 12 for 3 bucks was too good to pass up. Can I keep fresh corn until Sunday or will it not be good by then? If I can't keep it, I think we'll have Becky's Corn Chowder tomorrow. No cooking tonight, we'll eat leftovers.

Lauren, Glad the concert was fun! Sorry you're feeling funky! :flower3:

I guess I just don't understand :sad1:. I cannot believe that your little girl is not welcomed and that it has not occurred to your FIL that this behavior is hurtful. I don't blame you for staying away. I have never attended any gatherings in Buddy's family if my children were not included. There are some that feel the "blood" is all that matters, everyone else is not family. The last straw for my DH was when he brought Kady to his sister's house when he went to visit his nephews. This baby was only three and that woman literally turned her back on her and refused to look at her or to even acknowledge that she was there. He has never stepped foot in that house or spoken to his sister again. She continues to send invitations with just his name on them and he tosses them in the trash.

I will never understand this kind of nastiness!

It's mostly my Mom and I really don't think she means any harm, she just doesn't understand. :confused3

That is what Gail said is the case with her IL's. They just don't think and accept that they are doing the best that they can.

I have to confess that I cannot even think about dinner. ONce again my family will ask me if I posted on the WFD to tell you that I am not cooking!

I am just popping in to post dinner so you early risers can see it in the morning. We had pasta alla norma, which is an eggplant-tomato sauce. Looking at the picture it kind of looks like all my other pastas but the taste is so different, the eggplant gives it an unidentifiable unctuous yumminess:

I don't see Laura on here, but I talked to her tonight. Her DH did not catch any fish but he did catch a shark!! :scared: I guess it was around four feet, and he threw it back.

I had a bunch of people that I wanted to reply to, I have to figure out the multi-quote thing! The dis is running so slow tonight I can't page back.

Glynis, your kiddos are adorable!

Lauren, it's the full moon. Trust me, I know. :headache:

Gretchen and Nancy, that's awful that your kids/family are not invited to family gatherings! It's definitely a deliberate exclusion? That is so sad. And you wonder why people move 3,000 miles away from their families.

Tonight my grandmother is cooking me my favorite for my birthday. No cooking for me! :)

WFD at your house?

:bday:

HAPPY 29TH BIRTHDAY LINDSAY!!!!! :cake:

Hope you have a great day today! Eat some cake for us!!!

(ps I posted the coffee pot link for you on that coffee thread.)

Thanks a bunch :)

Happy Birthday, Lauren!!!

Psst, it's Lindsay :)

Good morning ladies!

Becky - That pasta dish looked yummy!

Tonight we're having Bahama Mama Pork Chops, Caribbean rice and not sure what else.

Have a great day!

Sorries ladies I've been MIA this week--Life took over. Been really busy. I've taken on another part-time job, this makes 3:scared1: And then DD starts preschool on tuesday, so we had an open house to meet her teacher. Her teacher is awesome, and Emma was ready to start school right then and there. She got all bent out of shape when we told her it was time to go.

Anyway, dinner's this week have been whatever is easiest. We did have Glynis' Lime chicken nachos on Monday, very yummy! And then the past 2 nights have been burgers on the grill. don't know about tonight yet. I'm thinking some pasta something--I was watching Rachel Ray while I was working out yesterday and she made a penne with arugala and shrimp that looked yummy. We'll see!

Lindsey-Hope you're bday is wonderful!:cheer2:

Sandy - If you check in today, I have a Guiding Light question and I can't find the thread. Please PM me.

Do we have any other soap opera watchers here?????

Good morning! Man was that fish tasty last night!!...I am so in love with my local fish store now! The crabmeat that they stuffed the haddock with was so light and not greasy at all..lflavorful like a crabcake too..YUM..:) They had some crazy looking salmon pinwheel florentine thing there too, i think that is next on my hit list!
WFD tonight....SUSHI!!!

I missed posting yesterday because the DIS was so slow I couldn't get through everything.

Happy birthday Lindsay!

Glynis -- your children are beautiful. It must have been hard sending your two babies off to Kindergarten.

Kathy -- I am glad Johnny's surgery went well and that he will back to his normal routine soon.

Lori -- So did Rick have crow last night? You always make me laugh.

Families can be so cruel to each other. I can't believe anyone would deliberately exclude or ignore a child.

Dinner last night was an omelet with tomatoes and mozzarella, homefries, oven baked bacon and eggless blueberry pancakes for the kids.

I'm not sure what we're having tonight. Liam has an allergist appointment this afternoon -- I'm crossing my fingers and hoping she'll say he's outgrown his egg allergy -- and I don't know when we'll be finished there. It might be a takeout night. DH has been lobbying for fried clams or Indian food.

Morning Y'all,

I have no idea WFD tonight. We've decided to have a labor day barbecue for the family & I'm trying to figure out a menu for that. I want to be able to allow one of the guys to cook. My brother, BIL & SonIL will all be clamoring to take over my grill! But that does not mean they aren't going to mess up the food! So I'm trying to choose the best things for them not to mess up. Steaks would probably be best, but I had Lauren's vietnamese marinade in mind for london broil & pork ribs. I have to decide, cause I need to start marinating now, if it's going to be super yummy. I know if I do everything with the marinade though, the picky ones will freak! So I have to think some more about that!

Nancy, WTH is up with Buddy's sister? Wouldn't acknowledge Kady at 3!!!! :confused3  Well, you know it is definitely her loss!:sad2:

Becky, Your pasta looks yummy as usual!

Kathy, If you have a little bit of time, Becky's coconut rice would go so good with your Bahama Mama pork chops!!! But I know it's not quite as easy as your caribbean rice!

Stephanie, THREE PART TIME JOBS???? I don't think you can call that PART-TIME anymore! ;)

Gina, Your fish sure sounds good! I'm in love with your fish market too!! :goodvibes

Laura, Hope things go well at the doc for Liam!!! :flower3:

Lauren, Hope you are feeling a little better today!

Y'all have a good day! Sheryl

Psst, it's Lindsay :)

Ok, color me embarrassed! My only excuse is that I babysat my niece from the lower regions all day yesterday beginning at 6:00 in the morning. I have no brain left.

Ok, then, here is my "official" wish:

LINDSAY - Happy 29th birthday!

Well, I had planned on an Italian Bistro casserole recipe for tonight. It's a new recipe, and Alan and I were excited to try it. However, we found out last night that Alan is heading back up to the mine this morning. He won't be back until tomorrow afternoon. So, I don't think I'll do the experimenting with a new recipe if it's just me and the kids. maybe we'll just do the pizza meatloaf muffins. I know that Jacob would be happy with that. Since I have all the ingredients, I think that's the direction I'm heading. I'll do a green salad on the side.
