Those pototoes were just so-so. I did them on the grill so that may have made the difference, they did smell really good.

I plan on making those beef skewers tonight with roasted cauliflower and snap peas.

So, the bread. That bread is my "cheaters garlic bread" and it is really simple. We have a special name for it but it's a little goofy so I can't put it on here. All I do is slice bread, then microwave half a stick of butter, stir in a teaspoon of garlic powder, salt and pepper, then distribute that equally. Top the bread with thinly sliced mozzarella, and for extra salty yumminness, thinly sliced haloumi, then bake at 400 degrees for about 15 minutes, until the cheese is browning and the bread is toasty.

Thanks, this sounds very good!:thumbsup2

They are healthier than fried salted russet potatos, right?

:thumbsup2

I have my Dr. appt with my orthopedic to get the MRI results from my wrist this morning, and figure out what we do next, then Ross has rec this afternoon, and karate demo team practice this evening.

I hope everything goes well with the orthopedist.:hug:

Hey all! Our weekend trip to Branson was fun. The food was nothing to write home about, but we had a great time. :thumbsup2

Welcome back, glad you had a great time. I've never been to Branson, but I've heard a lot of good reports!

It's Beans & Rice Monday here. Have a great day everyone!!

Tonight we are having corn on the cob and a dish of grilled sausages, peaches, red peppers, and onions in a black olive vinaigrette.

Hi All,

I went for my biopsy this AM...I am a little sore right now but wanted to say hi.

I think we will be doing OMaha grilled chicken kabobs, rice pilaf and green beans that I did not make yesterday.

Have a great day!

Hi to you too!! Hope you're feeling better soon.:hug:

I have a run-around-town day today, so dinner tonight will be quick and easy. I'm making a hamburger/vegetable soup, and I'll pick up some whole wheat rolls while I'm out today.

Have a great Monday, everyone!

Lauren- Take it easy today, glad to know you got that part over with of this whole ordeal you have been going through. hugs sent your way!!
~~~
Still not sure really where we are with my wrist issue, though we do know that it isn't TFCC, which is good and bad....good because that would have meant surgery for sure, bad because we are still at a loss of the problem. The MRI showed some fluid and some tendon damage. I will start up (as soon as Ross starts school cause it is easier schedule wise) ultrasound therapy 2x a week for 2 weeks, if that doesn't help it I will need to go see the hand specialist, and see what he thinks. Exploratory surgery might be needed.
This is getting frustrating as I have been dealing with it for a year now, and I am still where I started from...Oh well it could be worse:)
Sorry to hear there's no answer yet. I can relate, two years ago I fell and fractured a bone near my hip. Went through cortisone injections, ultrasound therapy and still no relief. The only time it hurts is when I sit for too long, which is not a problem. Hopefully you will get it resolved without surgery.:hug:
Sheryl- Your plates show that yo are no slouch in the kitchen! Your meals are put together beautifully .
I looked at the schedule as well and now I wish we could stay longer! There is going to be so much to do! We will probably just tour the countries becasue none of us will leave Kady behind and she would not enjoy the events. We'll see.
I was a SAHM and I got a lot of little comments that would make my eyes fry. Your most precious gifts, entrusted in your care and the you are talked about as if all you do is watch soaps and Oprah!
I did not realize that there was so much involved in your renovation. Your head must spin sometimes.
There is nothing better than a being a SAHN! My DD needs to work as well, she has the best benefits so they do what they need to do. There is something about Nana's and their precious grandchildren that while not the same as Mom, is pretty darn good! We are Nana and Pa to all of the kids and I think it is a wonderful gift for us, we just enjoy and don't have all of eh day to day worries that a Mom and Dad have. Mom and Dad go to work knowing that their children are in hands that love unconditionally.
Thanks for the food compliments! :goodvibes The only F&W event that Kady might enjoy would probably be the PFTS but wow the cost of that is killer! There are kid stations set up around the park too! Here's a link to some of the things they had for the kiddo's last year.
The bathroom renovation is going to be major! Nothing easy like my little kitchen redo. The worst part is that the cement slab will have to be broken out to move plumbing & make the shower level with the floor for a roll-in. It's going to be quite a mess! Hopefully having Mario here to do it, will help!:lmao:
This Nana stuff is cool isn't it! A heck of a lot more fun & less stress than being a SAHM, not being ON 24-7 is bonus. Although sometimes I think I could just move her in & be even happier!
Dinner tonight will be Roast beef grinders......roast beef, cheese, onions, green peppers, and pizza sauce on bulky rolls hot under the broiler, and then I top them with shredded lettuce and toms.....quick, easy, and sooo yummy!
Wendie, hope the appt goes well! I've never made roast beef like that! Sounds yum, I'll have to try it!
Hey all! Our weekend trip to Branson was fun.
Oh, and you mean a SAHM doesn't get to sit around and watch soaps and Oprah all day?????;) Geez!
Glad you had fun! You mean you don't get to watch Oprah? :laughing:
Lauren, I hope your sweet hubby is going to do the cooking for you tonight. Take it easy today for sure! :hug:
Kathy, Can you believe Bob chose Crawfish over Red Beans on a Monday?! So tonight is going to be Crawfish something, either pasta or etoufee.
Y'all have a good day!
Glad you had fun! You mean you don't get to watch Oprah? :laughing:
Who's Oprah? :confused3 ;)
Dinner tonight will be quick since it's a skating night. The kids will have sandwiches in the car and I think I am going to make a simple pasta dish with the one tomato I have left from the Farmer's Market for me when I get home. If I'm really hungry, maybe I'll make Becky's cheesy garlic bread too.
Good for him! If it were up to me I'd have beans every other Monday, but my guys love their beans on Monday and well...... it's "easy"!:laughing:
See, that's what i mean. I cook sausages and my family gets onions and peppers. Or like last night they also request and get bacon with it. Your family gets peaches peppers onions and a crazy good vinaigrette! You and your sister really need to think about one of those cooking shows, you are that creative!
You make sure to rest today. A biopsy takes more out of you than you realize.
I don't think we'll pay for extra events this trip. Last August I scheduled extra things for her and she got overwhelmed. Then we ended up taking her to 1900 Park Fair to wind down. Should just have taken her to breakfast in the first place :confused3.
Jeff is going to take a segway tour and will probably like to try some of the beers around the world so maybe Marisa and I can wander around and Kady can enjoy the kid stations.
We did move Kady in with us. DD and DSIL had planned to move into a new apartment and the people living there would not leave. The landlord needed to evict them so they stayed with us during the process. DH, the old softee, asked them to stay for a while and now I think the house would be like a tomb if they moved. He and Kady are best friends, and I adore having her for company.
Who's Oprah? :confused3 ;)
I am just trying to decide what to cook right now, but I am feeling pretty lazy. I made some half sours this morning and will do something with ground turkey.
Tonight we're having leftover chicken pasta from Jason's Deli. I had it catered in for a meeting yesterday and had tons leftover so it came home with me. I'll probably make garlic bread and a salad to go wtih it.
I couldn't have said it better, they amaze me. Hey, they could be the next Food Network stars!:idea:
I don't mean to sound stupid, but what are half sours?:confused3
I only have time for a quick check-in today. I've caught up on all the prior posts, but don't have time to reply. Sorry to everyone.
Tonight's dinner is something new and it is one of those things that could go either way so I hope it is good. It's called overnight crab casserole. You mix all the ingredients together and let it sit overnight in the fridge. We'll see.
Have a great day everyone!
Half sours are pickles that are cured without vinegar, just salt, pepper corns garlic and dill. I have tried to get them to taste like Buddy's grandmother made them but I can't get it right. I know that she used grape leaves and the heel of a rye bread, and one time that came out okay. His cousin remembered that, but nothing else. He was little and only remembers heading down to the root cellar and snacking on her pickles.
And if the Foodnetwork stars this year were the best of the bunch, our Liams sisters have got it won already, don't they :thumbsup2
Thanks for the info on the half sours!
I agree the liam sisters would kill the competition.:thumbsup2 And they already have a name for the show "The Liam Sisters"!!!!:banana:
Okay, dinner is set. We are having turkey meatballs in gravy over bow tie noodles. I have leftover squash sautee so we can have that with it. I have salad, but will make a tomato, basil, and mozzarella salad with olive oil and balsamic vinegar.
I seldom make the meatballs because my family likes the ones I buy better. I just looked at the ingredients and saw whey down at the bottom of the list. I need to see if Kady can have them, if not....back to the drawing board for her.
