Kathy- I just saw your post regarding CBR. We are staying there in October for Kady's birthday. I know that it is big but we requested Martinique. DO you think that we will be close enought ot the feature pool and Old Port Royale so that this old girl won't collapse? last summer we stayed at POFQ, requested a waterview (incredible waste of money IMO) and were assigned to building one. Not bad, but one evening Kady fell asleep in front of the castle and my niece was not with Sis IL and I. I carried her all through the MK to the bus station, the ride back while the bus driver took the scenic route all through SSR, and then the trek back through the resort to the LAST building. II never want to be too far away again, I never thought that I would think Kady was heavy, but was dying that night!

If this old gal can do it so can you! Really, you're very close to the pool and the Port. You're gonna love CBR!!

Kathy and Lulu- thanks for nice words about CBR. It is sometimes very hard to choose a resort when you have never seen it.

I changed our dinner plans tonight. The weather was sketchy for late afternoon into the evening and my orange chicken on the can takes over 90 minutes. Now SIL will grill meat for me in the rain but I am not at all sure he would babysit my chickens and glaze them every ten minutes for the last 30 minutes or so if it was raining :lmao:, so I made a nice red sauce with sweet sausage. We will have it with salad, homemade Italian dressing (hope this one is better than the last one) and some nice crusty bread. Warm apple pie or watermelon for dessert.

Right now though I am just DIS'in with a glass of red wine called RELAX. It is pretty good and can be served chilled. We'll eat when my DDIL gets here. My poor DS is working second shift, with some very long hours and has a 75 minute commute, so she does not see him much these days.

Now you know my worst deficit, I cannot manage names!

I am terrible too. People introduce themselves to me, and before the introduction is over, I've already forgotten their name. I am trying to be better, but with all the activities, it is easy to get the moms (and dads) confused.

Tomorrow I go downtown to spread my stepmom and dad's ashes. I am soo not looking forward to this. It so final, almost worst than when they died.:confused3 I know I being a big baby about this. Sorry
QUOTE]

Don't be sorry. I'll be thinking of you tomorrow.

Kady came close when she "cooked" in the bedroom using soap, lotion, perfume, glitter, silly putty, jelly beans, old hard chocolate coins oil I use for pedicures and I am afraid what else in warm water she scarfed out of the bathroom!

:scared1: Kids are just too funny. Yesterday at the beach, Liam looked like he was fighting the (very small) waves. Then later, every time a wave would come, he would fall backwards into it, like it knocked him over. Who knows what game he was playing in his head, but it was funny to watch. However, it didn't require any clean-up, so it was amusing. If his game involved scrubbing the floor, I would have been really mad...and he knows it.

Nancy Kady and my friends daughter would have a great time together. She made a Ice skating rink in her room. Vasoline, cotton balls glitter the whole enchilada :rotfl2:

Okay, please don't tell Caili about this. She keeps telling me how we need to have a skating rink in our house.

We ended up having pasta tonight with fresh tomato, avocado, bacon and a basil/lemon/olive oil dressing. The kids didn't look too happy about another sandwich or salad night.

Laura My friend's daughter was 6 at time of the infamous ice rink eposide. Need I say she was grounded until she's 40 :rolleyes1 I thought it was quite funny and imaginative at the time. Partly because I didn't have to scrape the vasoline up off the floor.

Thanks for indulging me in my pity party, I promise I'll snap out of it very soon.

Tonight we are grilling steaks and veggies I have some cookies in the oven for later.

HI folks, just popping in for a minute to share my yummy delish birthday dinner for my DH . Super easy and fast. DH loved it.

I would have been laughing too if I wasn't gagging on the floor.

Of course we would have had to attend DGD funeral if DD had walked into the mess :rotfl2:

It really was, im going to add a little garlic next time and try it with rotel.
We are cajuns so you know we like all our food with a little extra oomph lol.

Nancy and Hersey - your stories reminded me soo much of what I was like when I was little.

I loved mixing sweet and low into this brand of diet orange soda to watch it foam up.

I loved to melt crayons to make "new colors" I would name.

I loved to mix things in the bathroom - shampoo, gel, lotion, hairspray, perfume. etc.

and glitter was my best friend! Lots of fun "projects". :cutie:

Today I am making Not-sagna Pasta Toss, salad, and bread. BIL is coming over to eat with us. He has downloaded season 1 of "Heroes" and it getting us hooked on it!

WFD at your house?

ETA: Lucas, I knew the cooking board was over there. It never seemed to get much traffic, that's why I kept this thread going.

Good morning everyone!

I have no idea WFD, I just woke up. But, here is a photo of last night's dinner. I ended up not having and ravioli in the freezer, so I ended up making crispy gorgonzola stuffed gnocchi (no, I did not make the gnocchi from scratch!!) with a sauce of shi-take and chanterelle mushrooms, local green peas, basil, and parmesean cheese. I topped it with a drizzle of truffle oil for extra oopmh. It was good but kind of rich--I think it would make a nice appetizer. Photo:

TGIF everyone! :cool1:

PS: I agree with Lindsay, there just are not enough people over on that cooking board. I've posted over there a few times and have had difficulty getting responses. This thread is the best! Thanks for keeping it going, Lindsay! :)

Sounds good! Got to try this one!!!

Well, my Nacho Pie came out DELISH!!!! Loved it! It's a definite "make again"!

Tonight is usually pizza, but instead I'm going to make my fish sandwiches. I buy regular frozen breaded fish and make sandwiches using Ciabatta Rolls, the fish, cole slaw, and Lays Baked potatoe chips--very good!!!

Morning all. Well dinner last night ended up being a Freschetta pizza. I ended up taking the kids to the pool late in the afternoon, and then hit the gym after that. DH was with me at the gym and wanted to know WFD. Well, as I forgot to defrost any meat, we headed to the store to pick up something easy!

Lindsay--Love Heroes here! I thought it was going to be a hokey show, but DH dvr'd it off the SciFi channel. So I thought I would indulge him and watch an episode. Now we're halfway through season 1 and I'm hooked! Have fun!

Good morning everyone!

ITA about the cooking thread, I got all excited, but there's not much to it. I'll stay right here, but I do want to thank lucas for showing me another thread I didn't even know existed!

I only took one week off from my fried green tomatoes and I can't wait for them tonight!!:cool1:

Lindsay - Thanks again for keeping this wonderful thread going!!!!!!!!

Happy Friday everyone. Tonight's dinner is an Emeril's pork chop recipe. I plan on serving it with rice and maybe some of the fresh squash I got yesterday.

No cooking for me on Saturday, we are having the shower that night so the kids will have pizza with the babysitter.

Hope everyone has a great weekend.

Holy moly! I just found out the DIS Creative Community has a Cooking board:

Just thought I would pass the info along.

Double holy moly! Who said anything about ending this thread? :confused3

Sorry, I didn't mean to stir the cooking pot. :stir: I was just passing on the link cause I was surprised the DIS even had a Cooking Board. I need to get off the CB more and see what else is out there! :)

No, I'm sorry for jumping the gun. I do peek at the cooking thread once in a while because I am always looking for new recipes to Nanatize. It was way too early in the morning for me to be "talking" and I apologize :flower3:

Happy Friday everyone!

It's just me and Caili for dinner tonight, as Liam has a ticket to a special event at Fenway Park this afternoon. He gets to go out on the field, run the bases, meet some of the players, and then go to tonight's game. He is a huge Red Sox fan (as you can probably tell from my sig pic), so he is very excited. Caili is sad because she doesn't get to go, so we might go out to eat together or do something else fun.

Another thanks to Lindsay for maintaining this thread!
