I'm doing Chicken Francese this week too!

You are so organized. I never make a list for the grocery store...today I forgot the buttermilk for the pork chops, I made my own with vinegar, and I also bought everything for Tom's bday dinner...but forgot...you will never believe this..................................

the chicken!!!

Wedding Update: Well, I am a paranoid state...I called to make sure they ordered the correct tuxes today....they had Andrew is a pink tie...I ordered black. I also found out my wedding coordinator at the hall is leaving and I can't get in touch with her...:scared1: ...Tom and Andrew have already opened the Skybar box and keep telling me they will eat them all!!!!!!!!!!! :eek: :eek: :eek:

Kris (dh) is making me put a notice to go with all of my posts of said situations::lmao:
He wants it made clear that he is not blood related to this women.....she is his stepmother, but has been for the past 30 years..........he has only really gotten along with her the past 8, and that is becuase I put my foot down on some (a lot) things, and she started taking prozac,:rotfl: . The stories of how she was when he was a kid :scared1: :sad2: :sad2: Kris is the only child of them, as they never had any together. So when the time comes for them to need something they will be sol!!!

I also want to Thank all of you for "listening" and being a great sounding board for all of this crap...........I am going to owe you all a lobstah when this drama ends........................it will end right?!!?;)

Just tell her it's awfully nice to get all this spruced up before ya'll have to move in to take care of her! or better yet- all of it will be in order for when you put her in a home and put the house on the market!:rolleyes1 I don't think you'd be hearing much else after that.:lmao:

They have so many bills that selling their home won't even cover them...dfil owes a lot to lumber yards etc.........the money they are STEALING is just going for crap! So we won't be taking care of them, as they won't have any money for me to remodel with, and I just learned this week that this is how it goes down I guess, ;)

Is any of this on an email? I would accidently forward it to the Aunt oops! ;)

I am in contact with one of dh's cousins almost daily, and his father is the one who does not talk to dfil at all, so I am making sure that bits and pieces are making their way there without being the one who is telling,lol.

Wendie, sounds like you need a cocktail!!! :hug:
Already there my friend....as soon as ross' friends left, I invited Mr Cuervo to sit with me for a moment...........

:sad2: I am speechless. Your MIL is going to be for an eye opener when she needs a caregiver so while she is squirreling Grandma's money away sprucing up her home she may want to consider some long term care insurance. My DH's Mother did not do a very good job taking care of his Dad when he was ill with cancer an the brunt of it fell to him and his brother. They insisted he be at home as much as possible and she insisted he was elsewhere. They won, but the entire time the poor man was ill and dying she was a terror.

She has had major surgery several times since and DH won't even call to see how she is, let alone care for her or ask me to. It comes back to bite you when you are not doing the right things at the right times.

Some people huh?!!? Dh (Kris) already said "well they are going to be in for a hell of a shock when they are old"

Wendie - I am so sorry things are happening this way. I can't believe the lack of concern about the drug overdose, even thought it seems to be a recurring issue, all it takes is one time and she'll be gone. The curtains can certainly be cared for later.

If you want prayers for your mouth to be kept somewhat shut on Thursday, that's what you'll get from me, but I have to say you're a better woman than me, I couldn't do it.:hug:

She went up to see her sister (who is on obvious suicide watch on the psych ward) this evening and took her mother with her, and informed her sister that she is to busy getting her house "spruced" up and ready for grandmother that she won't have time to come see her for awhile. Yep, I am sure that helped martha who is already depressed, and having a hard time detoxing from her anitdepressents...:scared1:
So as Kris and I say...Karma baby it is all about Karma.....

Well I should probably have asked for the prayers starting asap on the whole hush up thing cause I just sent an email on another issue with them......

Ross has an awards cermony next Monday night from his gifted/talented math/reading classes, and he will be getting numerous awards. They had said that they wouldn't miss it no matter what, and moving her in was not going to change them being involved in his activities. Well what do you know....dfil called here about 20 min ago to say that who was going to sit with grandma couldn't now, and that he would be coming still, but that dmil wouldn't be able to. They could have had grandmothers sister sit with her just like she did a month ago when grandmother lived at home, but they don't want her alone in their home........dmil made a big deal in the background how she would still be helping with the craft on Thursday though....whoop de freakin do.....
soooo I sent off this email (I will post what I wrote) I think it is fine, and polite, but knowing dmil she will take it a whole different way (she always does)......which doesn't bother me to be honest with you.....I have not heard back from her, which is telling me she is po'd at me, tell me what you think:::

Hey,
Well I just told Ross, and he was very upset. He was happy that papa could make it, but still quite sad that mimi will miss it, as this is a big deal, and he is very proud of himself. He is worried now that you guys won't make his tournaments anymore either. SO just to be on the safe side we won't tell him either way on those, (or other things like his plays etc) and if you can make it to them SUPER, and if not he won't know the difference and have hurt feelings, as I think this is just the start of you having a tough time finding someone to watch grandma for you to be able to make his events.
I need to go get him in the shower as he is filthy from playing outside all afternoon. If things don't work out for Thursday, don't worry about it, just please let me know by tomorrow afternoon.
talk soon
love
me

Wendie, I am sorry for all this stress. Some people are just selfish and don't think how they sound. Unfortunately, this woman (and Sis) has some issues and hopefully she will get them worked out so there won't be another time like this.

Does anyone have any salad or veggie recipes? Something light and good with fresh veggies. We have lots of great things growing and I want some ideas!

(We have zucchini, green onions, cucumber, cauliflower, jalapenos, habaneros, bell peppers, eggplant, squash blossoms, tomatoes, cherry tomatoes, grape tomatoes, carrots, peas, okra, green beans and lots of herbs plus raspberries, blueberries and strawberries.)

Well I doubt that dmil will ever change, but I do hope that aunt M will get the help she needs this time. Though she doesn't have the support of her sister which is going to hurt!!!
~~~~~~~~
I would make a nice stir fry with all but the cucumbers for veggies and then put some nice cheese over it or toss with some pasta, or just a nice pasta salad with the veggies marinated in italian dressing.
The fruit well, just that over a bit of vanilla ice cream would be yummy!!!
Loved them!!! Thank you! They were great with the "Suzie"!!! I haven't had fried pork chops in ages...Andrew helped make them...he was punished today so he helped me all afternoon. He is not punished anymore...he is down with my big kid, named Tom, playing Xbox...:) He really is a good boy...he just does really stupid things sometimes...typical, right?
Another parent of a boy who does "typical stupid stuff" Par for the course I think..........they do and then they think........................
Here's a pic of last night's dinner. For the Fried Green Tomatoes, I used the Paula Deen recipe Kathy posted. Well sort of used it, I can't follow anything exactly. I dipped in a mix of flour & cornmeal, and blended the egg & milk with corn starch (from an Emeril recipe.) I really don't like frying so I went easy on myself and used the few leftover grilled shrimp & another lemony bechamel type sauce to top them. It was really good!
Sheryl
Now that is some good eats right there, mmmmmmm!!! I might have to make some of these once the farmers markets have tomatoes in....my grandmother would love them....it would go good with fried zucchini.
Wendie - I don't really have anything to say to you, but I can give you a lot of cyber hugs!
I think that the email you sent was beautifully worded. You handled it very well, but I'm sure you're right, and the MIL will take it another way. If she's anything like my MIL, you'll be on the crap list for a while. That's where we are right now, and I have to tell you, the peace I feel is worth it.
Wendie - I agree with Glynis, your e-mail was right on the mark and not offensive in ANY WAY. If she took it wrong then so be it. Sweetie, take it from me, life is too short to worry about what other people think or do. Take care of yourself and YOUR family and everything else will work itself out. :hug: to you, you know I'm here for you!!
L, don't forget that you have a huge tray of Liam's cupcakes in my freezer too!
Um, yeah, I probably don't need those anymore...
I hate to say this, but I am already tired of summer. DD keeps telling me she's bored! It's only the second week of summer vacation! I told her if I heard that come out of her mouth again, I'll pull out the mop and bucket and let her clean the floors. Ugh!!!
I can't stand it when Liam says he is bored. I always tell him if he can't find something to do, I'll find something for him. It's amazing how quickly he isn't bored anymore.
Well, in Liam's defense- it was the last cupcake- that he went and got! I'm sorry, I know this put you into a panic, but this story was soooooo cute! And after all that heart racing you get a free pass on cardio for the day!:hug:
When I told Liam the story about how I made the cupcakes and how I was going to bring them into school, he gave me a huge "Wow, Mom, you really do love me" hug. So it was worth it.
Wendie :rotfl: I like how your DH what's a disclaimer. Greed will always show it's self. When it happens to your inlaws they will have the "deer in the headlights" look. I'm a firm believer in what goes around comes around. You lie, cheat, steal someone will lie, cheat, steal from you.
liamandcaili FormrCastMbr Alex's teacher informed me boys brains don't catch up to their bodies until thier teen's :rotfl: Most of the time ALex uses good judgement but like most 12 yr olds he thinks he is grown. Sometimes the mom hammer has to come down.
Last night we had Romanian sausage, salad and orzo for dinner. The sausage is very garlicy and a little spicey just like I remember my grandmother making
Of cours I had a little horseradish sauce on the side. Poor son doesn't get how good it is ;)
Nancy, I have wanted to use the word gynormous so many times but couldn't figure out how to spell it!:laughing:
And oooh Naancyyy, DH just called, a friend just brought him some fresh TROUT!!! :lmao: So that's what's for dinner!
I have some in the freezer, they are cleaned but they are not filleted. I think they are Rainbow Trout. I am going to have to cook those doggies, but I am really not sure how. Can I stuff them with some herbs, rub 'em with EVOO, S&P and grill them in foil?
You are so organized. I never make a list for the grocery store...today I forgot the buttermilk for the pork chops, I made my own with vinegar, and I also bought everything for Tom's bday dinner...but forgot...you will never believe this..................................
:rotfl2::rotfl2::rotfl2: Lauren- we are in the same boat. I am lucky if I remember to thaw something out lately, never mind check recipes, make a list and then get to the market!
No about that pink tie and the WC ..........:dance3:, I don't know what to say but that that handsome guy could wear anything and still look good!
Kris (dh) is making me put a notice to go with all of my posts of said situations::lmao:
I have to chuckle about you DH disclaimer. I would want it on my tee shirt " They are not REALLY related, I did not choose them, and they won't go away!!!!!"
I think your email was mild, really. Every story you share is worse than the previous and I am amazed that you have managed the Grace under Fire thing this long. That they are now ignoring their Grandsons accomplishments in order to add some "babysitting" money to their coffers is incredibly shortsighted, as well as incredibly selfish. My children did all that they could for my Mom when she needed them, but their other GM is another story. She loves them but she and GF never put the kids before their wants an now it has come home to roost. They are not rude, they visit once in a while, but they just don't drop everything for her.
I am another parent of boys, and I have to tell you all that they grow up, they stop doing a lot of the things that make you nuts, but they will always be "boys". :confused3
Tonight is my husband's monthly Geek Meeting, so I am on my own tonight. I've got post-menstrual syndrome and I am treating myself to some Chef Boyardee for dinner tonight :)
WFD at your house?
My Aunt told me that one time, and I have never forgotten it. My DH told me that he wishes I never told him to stop wishing "bad" on nasty people becasue now everytime a "thought" enters his mind a little vision of me pops up and ruins all of the fun. Once again.......:coffee:....life is good!
Your sausage sounds like a Lithuanian fresh sausage that I always bought during Holidays. The man who used to make it was like 110 years old, and had to close his little store so now I am trying to find a recipe. It was like his GM made as well, and so yummy!
I am not sure about dinner this evening. DH worked until after 8 PM last night so he never got to work on his, well I don't know what it is, he wants to try again tonight. DD has to shop for teacher gifts, we bailed on it yesterday because there was severe weather all around us.
Nancy I have a butcher that I got that makes all kinds of sausage Romanian, Lithuanian, swedish you name it he's got it. He make the best smoked fish too. It's about 40 minutes from my house i just pack the cooler up and off I go. I tried to make the rom. sausage myself it doesn't taste the same as grandma's.
Hey Glynis, I recently bought a jumbo muffin pan. I was wondering how the blue blueberry muffins would be if I made them in that pan instead of the regular 12- cup (or whatever it was). Do you know how I should adjust my baking tme??
Thanks!!
ETA: I'm asking with the intention of making them like Barnes and Noble muffins. BIG!!! :)
Hi! I am quickly checking in...gotta get the family going!!!
We are having cheeseburgers, baked beans and a tossed salad tonight. Another easy night! :thumbsup2
Have a great day!
:lmao: :lmao:
Poor Buddy ;)
~~~~~~~~~~~Well I did get an email response back from HER last night and I sent another one back, but nothing returned on that one.............I will post those later on and fill you all in..........to early in the morning for me to deal with HER again, lol.

I do know WFD though and since that is what this thread is about, and I have hijacked it the past week I fig I will stick to it this morning, lol.

Angus steak strips grilled with SBR BBQ, corn on the cob with garlic/herb butter and some chedder rice.

Morning all--we ended up having Spiced Chicken thighs with yogurt sauce and couscous last night. I took a pic of it, but I'll have to post the food porn later when I can get on the other computer.

Tonight is going to be Grilled Salmon with Apricot Mustard Glaze, parmesan-spinach orzo, pineapple with mint and the blueberry pie for dessert. The blueberries were on sale yesterday, 2 pts. for $3:cool1: , so DD finally gets her wish. In the middle of the winter she was requesting blueberry pie, and I told her she would have to wait until blueberry season, unless we were going to take out a 2nd mortgage to buy the berries.:rotfl:

Hope everyone has agreat day. Oh, and DD was actually on the news last night b/c of the camp she's going to this week. She was so excited to see herself on TV.

Alex's teacher informed me boys brains don't catch up to their bodies until thier teen's :rotfl: Most of the time ALex uses good judgement but like most 12 yr olds he thinks he is grown. Sometimes the mom hammer has to come down.

I heard that boys' brains are not fully developed until they are in their mid twenties.:scared:

Oh, and DD was actually on the news last night b/c of the camp she's going to this week. She was so excited to see herself on TV.

Congrats to DD!!!!!!!:yay: :yay:

WFD tonight is Chicken Francese, scalloped potatoes and a salad!

Wendie, I am sorry for all this stress. Some people are just selfish and don't think how they sound. Unfortunately, this woman (and Sis) has some issues and hopefully she will get them worked out so there won't be another time like this.

Tonight, I am having leftovers from the weekend. I will make something good soon, I promise!

Well, since I've gotten so many compliments on the fried green tomatoes, you could have fried zucchini, fried cauliflower, stuffed fried jalapenos, fried habaneros, & bellpeppers, fried eggplant, fried okra, fried greenbeans all topped with pretty fried squash blossoms!! :lmao: Cholesterol overload there!
:rotfl:

And for desserts throw all those berries in some whipped cream! :banana:

Can we all just come to your house to help you eat all those yummy fresh veggies & berries?! Yuummy!

Seriously, though, about a Ratouille with all of those veggies. You really can't go wrong with everything so fresh & delicious.

Sheryl

I heard that boys' brains are not fully developed until they are in their mid twenties.:scared:

DH is in his mid thirties and there are times I don't think his brain is fully developed.

I don't know WFD, but I couldn't resist!

Morning Y'all,

As DH was rolling out the door this morning, I checked the freezer & told him he had mutiple choices for dinner. Beef, chicken, fish, lamb or pork. He said pork chops sounded good. So I go check our WFD 1st page for ideas. Man! There are just too many yummy recipes! I can't choose!:laughing:

Wendie, Your email was fine. Sorry for all the stress right now. Try to remember This too shall pass!:hug:

I have some in the freezer, they are cleaned but they are not filleted. I think they are Rainbow Trout. I am going to have to cook those doggies, but I am really not sure how. Can I stuff them with some herbs, rub 'em with EVOO, S&P and grill them in foil?

That sound delish!:goodvibes

Oh a TV STAR!!! Stephanie your food always sounds soo good!

I heard that boys' brains are not fully developed until they are in their mid twenties.:scared:
Congrats to DD!!!!!!!:yay: :yay:

There is actual scientific evidence now that teenage brain growth is so rapid, that all those little neurons are not connected until about 20 years old!!! The article I read said that this really does explain why teens tend to make dangerous & stupid decisions!

So now there is a scientific explanation to "Why did you do that?"

and hearing ...." Uuuh, I don't know.":lmao: :rotfl:

We have BBQ'd for the last few days so I think I'll cook inside today..I'' make stromboli with filling choices of
Mozzarella Cheese
Provolone Cheese
Paremsiano reggianno
salami
onions sun dried tomatoes
kalamata olives
spinich italian sausage

Somtimes I will make stromboli with buffalo chicken and bleu cheese,but not today
