I never got a homemade cake on my birthday. Nan said it is too hot and the frosting would melt. So THANKS for the cake on my birthday!!!!

Oh stop whining. It is freaking hot in July and Carvel ice cream cake is almost everyone's favorite....oh yeah, except yours. Thank Goodness Baskin Robbins came to town

MinnieM21- where is home? We were hot and humid but not 102. We reached 97 yesterday.

Yuck, Nancy...I'm in CT too-it's disgusting!!! It's so humid and I don't have A/C at home!

BeadPirate:
We started on the new Alli pills that came out recently. It's the only FDA approved "diet drug". It blocks part of your fat intake. If you eat too much fat stay near a potty! Then you journal what your eating. That helps alot! We try for 15g fat meals and total of 3g fat snacks and 1400 cals. Once you see what happens and how what you're eating makes you feel, it's easier to go from there.

I am way to afraid to try those new pills!!! Although I would do just about anything to lose weight---those side effects are just too scary for me. I'm a teacher and if I had to run to the bathroom, I'd be in trouble!!!

We're back from our day at the Cape. The water was FREEZING, it wasn't very sunny, and the lifeguard nearly had to rescue our beach umbrella, but we had a really fun time. It was a great escape from the humidity. I had the usual clam roll (Beck took a pic, which she is planning to post later.) and black and white frappe, so I am completely stuffed and I'm skipping dinner. I'll have to put something together for the kids though.

Happy birthday Marisa!

Lauren -- I hope you are doing okay with the tests.

Lulu -- Good luck with grad school!

We haven't really had any problems-knock on wood. But I watch close-pretty sure Rick does too. If it's made in a "fat free" version we've switched it at our house. I think Rick found heaven over the weekend when I fed him diet grilled cheese(he could live on them alone I think). 2 slices of diet whole wheat and a slice and half of fat free american cheese cooked in with a little Brummel&Brown (yogurt buttery stuff)- 3g fat for the whole thing.....I'm not even sure he chewed.:lmao: :sad2:

Sounds like heaven, it's miserable down here. The heat index was 111 yesterday.:scared:

Can't wait to see the pic!!

Happy birthday Marisa!

The picture of the clam roll is not the best. I love taking photos at home, but fell a little weird about it in public. Here it is anyway:

And now, for today's ultimate food pictures:

:)

I have to think of something to make DH for dinner, because he called and said he is starving! Not me!!

Hersey, I did make the chicken myself. I have a small oven with a rotisserie attachment. I have never tried the grcoery store chickens, so I don't know if mine would taste the same. I used a mixture of a penzey's spice blend called "mural of flavor" and another spice blend I brought back from vacation called "pirate's pepper."

I think the clam roll looked awesome!!! But of course the ice cream pics were the bomb!

liamsaunt Thanks I haven't been to penzy's in months. I guess I know where I'm headed this weekend.

KadysMom You almost sound like Wendy whiner for Saturday night live. I'm sure when the weather cools off you will have cake. Melted frosting is awful. I made a cake a few years ago for a friends baby shower I had to put my house in the deep freeze just to make that butter cream. I vowed never again until late fall or the dead of winter for cakes.

I'm on my own for dinner I have to decide what fast food place is making me dinner. Maybe I'll have chinese.

I had her take the clam roll pic for you, Kathy.

Thanks, Beck for the laugh. Liam's look says, "Wow, I can't believe Mom let me get this big ice cream!"

What I can't believe is that I am starting to get hungry. I just talked to Beck and she said the same thing. I'm going to have to make myself dinner afterall...something with tomatoes. I have a lot from the Farmer's Market.

The kids' dinner was Cheerios, blueberries and milk. They were SO happy.

The kids are way too cute!

Somehow I knew that you made your own :rotfl:. I will pick one up at Costco because I tell myself "I could not make one for this price." :thumbsup2

I am so in trouble now :confused3 , But she did not believe me.

I did make her a cake, we are going to have Laura's Wacky Cake and my first attempt at a blueberry pie. I made the pie Monday, but the filling was mostly fresh blueberries mixed with a "sauce" of cooked berries and corn starch. It was good, but reminded me of the filling you would use in a blueberry cream pie.

Gretchen - I just had to thank you again for the Brown Sugar Pork Chop recipe. It's so EASY and so very good!

I really miss my boy but my grocery bill is half of what it is when he's home.:rolleyes1

I was just about to go out to order my dinner when I caught sight of my self in the mirror. So here I am with a salad trying not to feel sorry for myself.

Vacation is coming up and I want to try out some of the food at the Food and wine festival. So I guess there's no time like the present to start watching what I eat. Now who's sounding like Wendy whiner.?

I'm just glad you like them. They are one of Kenny's favorites of the pork chop dinners. It's an added bonus that they are easy and quick.

I know my day is coming for DS's growth/eating spurt. He is already eating everything on his plate and ready for dessert, but I remember the days when my brother was in high school and would go through a crazy amount of food. I distinctly remember my mother standing in front of the fridge asking where the block of cheese she just bought was. My brother said he ate it. All two pounds of it. He said he sliced it and made microwave cheese sandwiches. With the entire loaf of bread. Maybe he is related to Buddy somehow. ;)

liamsaunt--you just reminded me of one of the things I miss about Wisconsin--Penzey's Spice shop. I need to go order some stuff online--the boxes are so fun to open since they add all the dried whole spices aspart of the packing! Love the pics!

Dinner tonight ended up being Chicken Enchiladas. Not enough spice for me, but DD ate one, so a home-run where she's concerned!

Dinner tonight was a frozen pizza. They were $2.98 at Kroger and I told you we were poor. We only ate half for dinner tonight and now we'll have leftovers! =)

In actuality, it was really tasty! Self rising with 3 meats. I was impressed.

:rotfl2::rotfl2:It seems like yesterday but a few years ago my niece was with my DD one night. She is an athlete and was weight training in addition to her regular training sessions. She polished off an entire loaf of bread eating PB&J for a snack . Now we are a family whose food seems to go straight to hips, etc so my DD and DS were astonished!

We are not even going to talk about DH's nephew and the amount of food he could eat! :scared1:

About what age is this going to happen? My son is 11 and he has always loved food way too much-taking after his dear old mom!
