Kathy-here you go:

Creamy Macaroni and Cheese:

2 C. uncooked elbow macaroni
4 T. butter (1/2 stick), cut in pieces
2 1/2 C. grated sharp Cheddar cheese
3 eggs, beaten
1/2 C. sour cream
1 10 3/4 oz can condensed Cheddar cheese soup
1/2 tsp. salt
1/2 tsp. dry mustard
1/2 tsp. black pepper
1 C. whole milk

Boil macaroni in 2 quart saucepan in plenty of water until tender, about 7 minutes. Drain. In a medium saucepan, mix butter and cheese. Stir until the cheese melts. In a slow cooker, combine cheese/butter mixture and add the eggs, sour cream, soup, salt, milk, mustard and pepper and stir well. Then add drained macaroni and stir again. Set slow cooker on low setting and cook for 3 hours, stirring occasionally.

Slip the kids some soda!!!

I think my Sis has some pics with my Ex whited out...he is a jerk. Sometimes having a child helps women get out of bad relationships. I call my son my angel because his being born helped me realize his father was not the best to be around. He had a huge gambling problem which caused lying, stealing, etc...I couldn't have my son around that...it was bad. I could probably write a book and have it be a best seller. People don't believe half the stuff I went through.

Maybe in 8 years you can have a Disney Vow Renewal!!!

I think it's wonderful that you have found a great guy, now! That made all the difference for my sister! She had real self-esteem issues due to all the abuse, and her 2nd husband has really helped with that! He's been the "real" father to Marina, too. We call her bio dad, "the sperm donor" since that's really all he was!

A Disney Vow Renewal would be wonderful!!!!! I would totally go for it. DH, on the other hand, might not! He's coming around, but still sees Disney as an occasional vacation, not someplace he'd want to go whenever he has free time! Unlike me! I want to retire and live on Main Street!

Glynis..We had your pot roast last night . It was falling apart tender..
I changed my mind again! LOL.
I have really been wanting italian beef in a bucket..I figured I would make it today with the leftover pot roast but there was none..I am really craving it so I broke down and used the expensive rib eye steks I have in my freezer..So It's Italian Beef in a Bucket sandwiches with provolone cheese...This might be a little spicy for Ed but he can deal.

Thank you MinnieM21! Now I can't wait to try it!!! Don't be sorry...I babble all the time!!!

Lindsay, my word! That gooey cake sounds great!!! Easy too!

HAPPY EASTER EVERYONE!

I wish all my WFD friends all the best on this joyous day!

We are going to my sisters house today...I love holiday food. We are having turkey, ham and fresh keilbasa, yum! Everyone brings desserts...my cake layers stuck in the pan...:confused3 ...we got them out but the cake is VERY moist. I hope its going to be OK today...it will be more like carrot mush.

Glynis, any drama yesterday???

Have a wonderful day everyone! Anyone watching Sopranos tonight? We are. We always look for the NJ places we have been to. They used to film in my BILs cousins house (Rosalies house).

Only mild drama yesterday. We all got there to start hiding eggs, and spreading the candy around, and word came from whacko SIL that she has decided that her children will not participate in the hunt, and they would not be coming to the barbecue. Since her wishes were not going to be honored (i.e. no sugar at all), she was keeping her family away from us wicked ones. Seriously, we could hear her kids in the background just so unhappy!

Needless to say, there was tons of sugar for the other kids that were there. I'll post some pictures later. Everyone had a great time, and no one went away wishing for more sugar!!!!!

To me, it's all about moderation. Don't cut out the sugar, just be careful how much you let your kids eat!!! My theory is, if I don't deprive them now, then when they are on their own, they won't go crazy with it. That's what happened to me. I never had my own full size candy bar, until I was living on my own at 19. Until then, we always had to share one candy bar between 4 kids. So, once I was on my own, I went nuts, buying all the stuff my parents would never let us have. I gained so much weight! I'm trying to show my kids that it's ok to have sugar, but it's also ok to balance it out with other stuff. They don't feel deprived, and they know how to make healthy choices, too. Well, that's my theory, anyway!

I'm glad you liked it!!! Those sandwiches sound to die for!!!!!

How's Ed doing? He (and you) have been in my prayers throughout this whole thing!

Yesterday we ended up calling the nurse out because his leg was swolen and had a lot of fluid coming out.. It trned out to be a busted stitch .I think his blood is really thin and I can't wait to get him off of this injectable stuff...Hopefully tomorrow

Tonight we are having our Easter dinner:

Ham with Ruby Red Glaze
Garlic Butter Green Beans
Rolls with homemade Plum jam
Sweet Potatoes with sweetened cream cheese
Pineapple Casserole
Malted Milk Ball Brownies (I'm making these with the Robin Eggs from the kids baskets. I think it'll be pretty!)
Citrus Cooler to drink

Yummy! I can't wait for church to get over!

Yikes! How scary! I'm glad it wasn't worse!!!! I'll keep my fingers crossed for tomorrow!

Hi everyone, I haven't had time to check in since Friday and boy, did it take a long time to catch up.

Yesterday, we went to my DMil's house and had burgers, slaw, potato salad, and baked beans.

Today, my family came over and we had frogmore stew and yeast rolls. My sister brought dessert, her famous strawberry cake. If my DH ever left me for my sister, it would be because of this cake. It is out of this world. I don't have her recipe, because I don't think I could make it if I had it.

Gretchen

DH had to work, so dinner was just the two of us. I fixed an appetizer tray of slliced sausage, smoked gouda, cheddar, crackers, carrots, radishes, etc. I roasted a small rib roast along with baked potatoes and asparagus.
I had slow cooked some pork country ribs in the crockpot last night for dinner so lunch today was pulled pork barbeque sandwiches.

Morning all :surfweb:

A group of guys from our Sunday School class are going golfing this morning (a lot of them are teachers and have the day off). My husband took the day off and is going with them. I decided since we had no idea when he'd get home that we'd go out to eat today. We will be eating at one of my favorite local Greek restaurants :)

WFD at your house?

Wow, i miss a day and I am way behind here!

I hope that Easter was joyous for those who celebrated yesterday.

Jenny- The day when Ed can come off the blood thinners can't come fast enough, can it? I think of your family every day, and hope that his recovery is speedy. Now your meal plan had me chuckling as I caught up, but your final decision sounds amazing!

Glynis- I'm happy that there was no drama for your egg hunt, but was so sad for your SIL kids. The"my way or the highway" approach gets old fast.

Lauren- Your carrot cake turned out the way mine sometimes have turned out. Delicious but not as pretty as I would hope. Please share your recipe because I love to make them and have misplaced my favorite.

Kathy- How was the pineapple bake? I added into my "newly formed cookbook in the making", but my family vetoed it for Easter dinner. It seems that they wanted tried and true stuffing for our meal. I am still a little resentful....you would think that I have been experimenting on them or something.......;) I also wish I made the coconut cake....Kady loves coconut was it good?

Lindsay- Isn't that cake awesome? My niece made it for us on a Holiday and it was the only dessert to go that evening....they scrapped her pan.

Jonestavern- Our fire was going strong yesterday after dinner as well. Boy what a Spring?

Liamsaunt- I have to avoid checking your photos before I have breakfast. Somehow rye toast is not sounding so good right now...I am craving one of your paninis.

Dinner today is going to be leftovers from yesterday. Buddy and I are shopping for garden supplies and the rest of my family are going to head for the IMAX cinema to watch Meet the Robinsons and get some dinner out.

Kathy- I just checked the Easter Dinner thread and I saw that you liked the casserole. I am going to add it yo our menu the next time I cook a ham :thumbsup2.

Good morning guys!!

Nancy - the pineapple stuffing was great, sweet though it compliments the ham very well. And you must try my EASY coconut cake!

liamsaunt - your photos are becoming "food porn" to this thread - keep 'em coming.

It's beans & rice with Italian sausage tonight - keeping Easter leftovers for another night this week.

Have a great day everyone!!

I know someone here drinks this, I think one of you girls from NOLA...is this good? I remember hearing good things so I just bought 2 bottles. Will a red wine drinker like it? I was thinking of giving my BIL a bottle for his retirement from the PAPD...but didn't know if he would like it or if it was a nice enough wine to give as a gift (the price tells me yes :) )...it says it is good for after dinner...he likes that kind of stuff too.
S: I did buy a bottle for us too!!!
Gotta go make this cake or I'll be buying something in the am!!!

I've never tried it, but I'm dying to. Shovan & TheBeadPirate rave about it. It goes very well with chocolate, what's not to love about that?

Lauren, The Rosa Regale is a sweeter sparkling dessert wine that goes very well with dark chocolate desserts. It is sweet but not as sweet as a Spumonte. I'm a red wine drinker, but love this for special occasions. If your BIL considers himself a wine "snob" he may be impressed that you found something a bit unusual, just let him know that it is a dessert wine & goes well with chocolate. If you want to get him a good bottle of red that's not too pricey, my go to gift wine is Francis Coppola Claret. It's really good & here it runs anywhere from $14 - $18. Another good one is Louis Bernard Chateauneuf du Pape. At Sam's it runs about $19 -$22.

I've got another wine question. Has anyone ever had the wine pictured below?
I'm not a wine drinker - I don't like a winey, burney, taste. But I had a sample of this wine at the Fresh Market at Christmas time and it is fantastic! I bought 1 bottle - wish I had bought more. Now they don't carry it and I can't find it anywhere. It is white, clean, crisp, fruity and very sweet. I would love to buy some more of it - it is easy to remember cause it has a pic like the Starry Night by Vincent van Gogh on the label. Has anyone seen or tried it?

The name of it is Moscato D'Asti - Vallebelbo

lucas, I have had that & it is one of the better sweet white wines. It shouldn't be too difficult to find. Don't y'all have something called ABC Liquour Stores? Floridians we met during F&W Fest talked about that being the place that carries almost every wine imaginable. Here's another good sweet white to try Hogue Late Harvest White Reisling. It's not as light as the Moscata but has a very flavorful rich sweet apple taste, almost like an Ice Wine!

Ed has to go back and see the cardiothorasic surgeon for the first time today, at 5.15... NO real dinner plans..My kids will have to cook for themselves while I'm gone..It means I will come home to a big mess.

I think tonight's dinner will be steaks and salad with some yeast rolls for the guys. We don't have any leftovers thank goodness. I gave them to DMIL since she is having a procedure today and won't be able to cook.

Morning All!

Kathy, Andrew is having a fun time in AZ now...I think he was very tired that first night...Thank God. I would've been on the next plane out. :) They aren't really doing much sightseeing though, which I think is strange...oh well, not my dime. :)

Kathy and Nancy: I will post the carrot cake recipe in a bit...its upstairs and I can't really walk now...just did the treadmill to work off some of the damage. :)

Mermaid (or anyone else who may be interested): I have a family recipe for ham and broccoli casserole that is great for leftover ham...I will post that too.

Liamsaunt: your photography skills are great...you should open a restaurant. :)

BRB...the cat just got sick on my new rug!!!! :scared1:

I'm back!

Sheryl, thank you for the wine info...I am pretty sure that he will like the rosa regale...he didn't put it out yesterday so he and my sis can enjoy it together...he was making wonderful belinis yesterday...very good!

Ray's Bellini's
2 peeled peaches
2 peeled pears
orange juice
a little bit of lemon juice
Puree all of the above together (add just enough orange juice to make it a little liquidy).

Pour a 1/2 champagne glass with sparkling wine or champagne...slowly drizzle puree to fill the glass...very slow or the glass will over flow...yes, I did this a number of times...its the blonde in me!!! Mix gently if needed.

Lindsay, have a nice dinner! Now, I am craving Greek food!!! :)

Jenny, you and Ed are in prayers. it must be so great to have him home...

Glynis, I ave many names for my Ex...but I a trying to be a better person lately, so I'll just say that he is my baby sitter that pays me!!! I am very lucky to have found DF...he is a wonderful father figure for my son...they really get along great...If you have a VR in Disney, you have to invite your DIS friends!!!
