These recipes are very good! I had the cordon bleu the other day for lunch too...yummy!

If you want low fat, the chicken dish that Nancy and I make with the preserves, dressing and onion soup is very good. These are listed on this thread but I cannot remember the names of them...Nancy, help! :)

Thanks and tell your church group we appreciate them! And on a lighter note-NOLA ladies I personally am very offended that you would stoop so low as to use "just in case" as an excuse to cook good food!:rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl:

Obviously from our past discussions of food (constantly!) none of us need an excuse other than addiction!:lmao:

--------> :rolleyes1 This would be me hiding from the frozen poultry et al that I know is going to be heaved my way for that one!

:confused3 What the he...?!

:tiptoe: And this is me sneaking up on you to throw Post-Katrina unfrozen nasty stinky chickens at you!!!!! Addiction you say?? You've really got me figured out don't you! read on...

Thanks Nancy & Lauren, but obviously the BeadPirate knows me too well! The grocery store had some nice looking lamb chops! So much for my diet chicken.:confused3 :rotfl: Addiction she says! Umpf.

So, instead of chicken I'm going to grill those lamb chops. I think I'm going to season them with a mix I have from a local Lebanese rest., I still have the potato salad & artichokes left so that's what's for dinner!;)

It's my 49th birthday! Taking the rest of the day off from dieting to celebrate- lunch was deli tray mixture for party at work
DH just showed up with take-out fried flounder piece for me and I took a bite from his BBQ sandwich (Carolina pulled pork, tabasco, cole slaw on a bun). Yum!

Dinner is out for more seafood- broiled platter at Sanitary Fish Market in Morehead City. Casual with checkered tablecloths, over the water with sunset view (and sometimes wild ponies, otters, etc.) and the best waitresses you would ever wish to have (ask for Rochelle).

HAVE A WONDERFUL BIRTHDAY!!!!!!!!! Sounds like a great place to celebrate!!

Lindsey- I do hope you are able to get some relief for your shoulder. I have dislocated mine 3x and will need surgery at some point, but in the mean time I do the excerises that I got at Sports Therapy. I think that will be your best bet. I hope things are better soon.

Tarheel Tink-- whoo hooo Happy Birthday to you!! Have a fun celebration!! Remember that calories do not count on birthdays............(or any other day you don't need them to, lol)

Lauren- I am sure that ds is happy to be home and getting hugs from his Mama!!

Morning Y'all,

Lindsay, I hope your shoulder heals up really quickly!

I know some of you find our hurricane trials tough to deal with, but I can't even imagine having to get up & go with snow on the ground & 22 degrees outside!

Us southern gals don't handle the cold very well!

The Queen of Easy, I'm looking for an EASY chicken recipe today, I wore myself out with that combo last night!

Hope everyone has a good day!

D-I-T-T-O on the cold weather-I'll take the hurricane seasons down here!!
I used an easy chicken recipe(wonderful for leftover BBQ chicken too) of Paula Deens-it's her Chicken and Rice Casserole,on her website- but I used shell pasta instead of rice since I did not have enough rice in my pantry. I actually can say it was better with the pasta(not being a big rice person ,unless served with red or white beans) and my kids ATE it UP!

Happy Birthday Tarheel TInk!!!

DF just called and wants to go out to dinner...who am I to argue. He wants pizza...:confused3 I guess the low carb thing is not working!

:confused3 What the he...?!

heehee. :rotfl2: I was commenting on Kathy's "gotta clean out the freezer for hurricane season". Like she needs an excuse to make good stuff. You know even the Queen of Easy likes to create in the kitchen-Hurricanes be darned!:rotfl2: You too darn it. You're always making good stuff too!

And you are too much like me. That's how I know it's an addiction!

Happy Birthday, THT!!

I am making filet mignon with red wine sauce, mashed potatoes and asparagus.

Dh had leftover pasta and veggies from the other night. I had a grilled cheese sandwich, Doritos, and tomatoes on the side. You want me to be honest, right? :rotfl:

Tonight we are having chili casserole. If it turns out good I'll give you all the recipe.

Tomorrow no cooking. It's fun fair night I'll be to busy to eat.

Hi guys! I am Jenny for those of ya that dont know me.
I wanted to post a yummy recipe for Chinese Coleslaw.
My Aunt brought it for Easter and it was a huge hit. She made it Sat night and Sunday it was great, I didnt love it on Monday, but my Dh said it was still good, to me it kinda felt like the almonds and sunflower seeds had gotten soft, but it didnt bother him in the least. I prob wont make it just to have it around the house, but if im going somewhere there is a big crowd, ill be sure to bring it.

1 16 oz bag of coleslaw
1 cup of sunflower seeds ( meat only)
1 cup of slivered almonds
3 pks of beef ramen noodles
1 bunch of green onions chopped
1/3 cup of white wine vinegar
1/2 cup of sugar
3/4 cup of oil

in bowl, mix sugar, vinegar, and 3 packs of the beef mix from the noodles, blend and set aside.
In a large bowl layer 1/2 of each ingrediant as follows coleslaw, green onions, almonds, sunflower seed, and chrunched ramaen noodles. Then layer the other half of each ingredient ending with noodles.
Now add oil to sugar, wine and beef mix. Blend well. Now pour this over the top of layers DO NOT MIX, cover the bowl and put in refrig. for at least 3 hours. After three hours, take out and toss all ingredients.

You can use splenda in lieu of sugar... about 12-14 packs will be sufficient.

Enjoy!

:welcome: to Jenny!!!!!

No cooking for me tomorrow night! DH and I are going out of town to judge a State Drama meet, so we get to eat out, and have a little "romantic" getaway from the kids. Unfortunately, I think he's going to use this outing to try to convince me that we need another baby! Doesn't he realize that I'm 40, and just happy not to have to deal with diapers. He feels really strongly about it, though, so I'll let him talk and we'll see what happens! I'm happy with my 4 kids, but if the Lord wants us to have another one, that's ok too! Yikes!!!

Sorry Glynis but this made me laugh. :rotfl: DH is the same way and I'm 41!! :scared1: I've personally had 5 children (only 4 pregnancies though!) and DH had 3 before we got married and he wouldn't mind having another one! His oldest will be 25 soon and our "baby" is 4. I'm starting to enjoy a little bit of freedom once in a while. I LOVE/ADORE all of our kids but I'm past the baby making stage! I do get aggravated though when folks ask if I'm fixed. My answer is "NO, I'm not broken!" :lmao:

Happy Birthday THTink! :cheer2:

I was lazy this evening, actually more busy than ever. The boys are standing up in a debut this weekend so we had to go pick up their tuxes and try them on. This is going to be another crazy weekend. Anyway, I just made breakfast tacos (egg, potato and bacon) for dinner. I think tomorrow is going to be Glynis' lime chicken nachos!

So, you're a mom of multiples??? Twins? Triplets? I'm a twin mom, myself!!! I tell DH that's another reason not to try for another one... every time I've been pregnant, I've doubled the number of kids in our family, and I do NOT want to go from 4 to 8!!!!!

Since my BIL moved back to town, we have somehow started a tradition of him coming over to eat with us on Friday. He downloads Lost for us and brings it over. We feed him, watch the episode, and usually another movie of some kind.

So tonight I am making Original Kitten Chicken (as my husband calls it, the Ritz Parmesan Chicken), hash brown casserole (my mom's recipe), and a veggie.

WFD at your house?

You Ladies are killing me this morning! It is too early in the AM to be laughing this hard.

Glynis- All I can say is :scared1: to 8! I was overwhelmed with three and I found out this weekend that it never stops.....I mean it NEVER stops they go from 27 to 31 and with two more added to the bunch it is 5 siblings reverting back.....:crazy2:

Tarheel Tink- :cake: Happy Birthday! What a great place to celebrate.

Jenny- Thank you for the recipe. I had something like that a long time ago but did not know what it was. I am adding it to my book for summer gatherings.

Julie- boys in tuxes make me smile.

And now you NOLA ladies....it is not an addiction......You are simply using food so that it will not go bad. I use up desserts all winter long...you know....because we might lose power.........

I did not cook last night. Kady came home with a reading Award so "Pa" took us to her choice Olive Garden, to celebrate. I fix the American Chop Suey this evening.

Jenny- I love that recipe, it is a great one to take to a BBQ as there is no mayo to worry about

Glynis- Romantic night out and talk of more babies, kind of cancel each other out I would think, lol. I also stopped at one :)

Nancy- Congratualtions to Kady!!! What a great job, that does deserve a night out for her!!!

I am not so sure on this whole Global Warming theory of Mr Gore's- he can come and shovel my driveway today and think about his theory here on april 13th...........I think Maine is in a Global Warming Delay..........

Tonight for supper is............leftover tacos as dh and ds wanted both chicken and beef ones last night so we have a ton of leftovers........works for me.

I have to get a few things ready (snacks etc) for tomorrow as Ds has a karate tournament about 40 min away, and it ends up being a long day waiting for him to compete, and the others on his team. I am also the team mom so I always have extra snacks and "emergency" stuff (sewing kits, fem products etc) for the other kids as well.

Hi All!

I'm posting quick again...we have a bday party to go to at chuck e cheese in a little while and them baseball practice this evening...I have to straighten up the house before my friend comes over. She is a neat freak, I try not to be!!! :)

Anyway, since we are running today, I am going to stop at the sub shop and get some salads. They make the best tuna...I'll think of Buddy!!! :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl:

I hope all is well. Have a great day!

Welcome to all the new posters!!!
