Maybe I don't get the joke...but are you kidding?
You can't even put thumbtacks in the walls...what makes you think you can install a ceiling fan? The only problem you should encounter with room temp would be roommate conflict. Price Management (the management company that operates the apartments) WANTS you to keep your apartment between 70 and 75. Too hot creates a lot of mildew. They will tell you that you aren't paying for it, so keep it cool. If you think you'll need a fan, bring one, but the problem most of us have is getting roommates to keep it warmer...my roommate likes it below 67, and that gets really cold. She's from IL and I'm from TX.
You do need business casual clothing for all non-costume WORK activities including and classes you take. You need to have shoes to go with these clothes. Shoes is one of the most forgotten things when people arrive at Traditions. If you are not in Disney Look guidelines when you arrive, they will tell you to fix what is wrong; if you show up to Traditions without it fixed, you will be sent home until it is fixed. There's no way around it...if you need to shave, just shave, or you will be sent home--for good.
As far as other things to pack: I brought clothes, TV, bed spread and pillow, 3 sets of twin sheets (I have A LOT of clothes and no time, so changing sheets happens more often than laundry), clothing hangers (I worked in retail before I came, so I had a whole box--200--and used every one of them between roommate and me, they don't give you these), cleaning products (one reason I was assigned to housekeeping), power strip for all the electronics, alarm clock that I don't use (most people use cell phones, because you don't necessarily spend every night in your apartment!), computer and printer (I am the only person I know that has a printer--makes me kinda popular when the Learning Centers are closed), laundry bags (but I use garbage bags more), and basic toiletries.
On arrival day, Roommate and I went to
WalMart and bought things like laundry detergent, garbage bags, iron and small ironing board, broom and dustpan, more pillows, MATTRESS PAD/egg crate (the beds are not comfortable at all), and various kitchen utensils not inlcuded in the kitchen.
Since then, I've bought curtains (the sun is very bright early in the morning), more kitchen things like cheese grater, ice cream scoop, mixing bowls, tupperware, hand mixer, bathroom rug and shower curtain/liner (to replace the one they gave that was really thin and got nasty quickly), and a cheap dvd player and various dvds (we watch movies more than tv a lot at night).
That's pretty much everything, and I move out on January 5 and plan to take all of it with me, so I think it was all worth it.
