The Official Super Duper Weather Outlook Thread!

I am anxiously watching the weather as much as the next guy. I live up in the Great White North and have run in -10C temps if you can believe it. Roughly I think that is 14F or 15F but I'm happy we have nothing like that to look forward to. :thumbsup2
Of course I was hoping for some of those 80F temps from last week and beginning of this week for the "vacation" part of our trip while at Disney. Looks like a cool front moves in as soon as we arrive on Jan 8th. :confused3
As long as there is not major rain then I'll be okay on Sunday I think :) Trying to figure out now the running attire as well as other clothing for the week we are there....a little bit of everything. I may also need a bigger suitcase :rotfl:

I have a long sleeve yarm http://www.robena.ca/pages/yarm2007.html so I can take that off and tuck it into the pockets on the back of my tank shirt. Neat trick. I'm hoping with maybe a poncho to keep me warm in the early am I won't need more than that. I think I'll wear my capris as well. Don't need to scare anyone in my shorts unneccesarily :scared1:

I don't think it's possible to make us all happy weather-wise! I don't call a high of 75 heat - I call it perfection!

Anyway, I don't think it will get close to that temperature until well after we are all done with the half. For the half anyway it looks like it will be between 50-65 for the race, and for me that is perfect running weather.

Last year I remember commenting to Carrie and Scott about the heat at mile 4. My shirt was already saturated. I could really care less about the temp for the half, it's the full I am concerned with. I am hoping to avoid cramping to the point where I would rather die. The Hyannis marathon two years ago was in the 30's and I was fine as I could keep up with the hydration. Give me a start in the 40's and I will sign.

The heat plays a factor but by controlling your electrolytes through either beverages or supplements(like Endurolytes) you can prevent this. Drinking water alone only makes it worse. Be prepared and you will have a great race. The Endurolytes work well for me 2 every hour.

Just wanted to add....just back from a 2 mile walk and even though the temp guage says 62, the humidity is very high and the sun is still really HOT beating down. START DRINKING YOUR WATER NOW!!! Trust me, you are going to need it!!

I remember you talking about electorlyte tablets a while back. Are they something I can pick up at the expo or should I search locally and pick some up before comming down. Am I even asking the right question?:confused3 Thanks for the help.

You should get your electrolytes locally, just in case the expo does not have them. Expo will do real well on gels, but usually not a lot of electorlyte items.

But remember the all important advice......don't do anything new at race that you did not try before.

Looks like it will be the warm weather running clothes!

Rats.

Isn't this funny? We started this thread in a panic over cold and rain.

Now we are considering heat and humidity. Shows you how "accurate" a 10 day forcast can be LOL!

So now I don't know if I should wear my capri's or my shorts. The capri's were fine when I tested them out on my last LR (9 miles) when it was 73 so I might wear them just in case it is cool first thing in the AM (55 to me is cold) I did most of my training (well all but the last 9 miler) in shorts. Don't know what I am going to do to stay warm in the 2 hours prior to race start. I planned on just getting a cheap blanket to bring with me.

Just got back from BigLots where I bought my cheap blanket for $4. (Best I could do LOL!)

I am going with the skirt. I know I warm up fairly quickly!

Tricia- I consider everything under 60 to be kind of cold too, but don't let yourself get too hot! I'm going to wear some throw away sweats for the starting area and toss them either before the start or a couple of miles in. Last year I wore sweats both days and tossed them. People from colder climates laughed at me (especially the second day when it wasn't cold at all!) but the sweatpants also kept me more comfortable on the asphalt.

I recently ran a 15k in shorts, t-shirt, vest, and cheap gloves. The start was around 40 degrees. I was fine (loved the cheap gloves).

(I have to return the cold-weather hat, 2 pairs of nice gloves, and a really hot L/S shirt I bought on-line last week so I share in your panic!)

So I might be sticking with my normal shorts. I have to get a cheap blanket - I am liking the $4 price at Big Lots (not sure if there is still a Big Lots near me) I am thinking the cheap blanket will be the easiest since I will most likely only need it to stay warm before the start. I am normally fine in sleeveless once I start running.

I'm going in shorts and a short sleeve shirt. I bought a $5 sweatshirt at Walmart and cheap gloves to toss once I get moving.

wearing my capri's, wish shirt and will decide if I wear my throw away shirt that morning. I'm from NH. 50 is balmy...

I can always give any extra clothes to my DH at the MK, he's on water, food, tylenol duty for the rest of us.

See YOU soon

Found gloves for $1.40 a pair at Wal Mart today, thinking about buying a pair just to have and then toss. Will be returning a long sleeve tech shirt and possibly a running jacket that I bought 10 days ago when we thought it was going to be 29 at the start.
