The Official Super Duper Weather Outlook Thread!

I remember in 06 it was like 32 degrees at start. It was cold that day.
In 07 when I did the half with DH, it was like 80! I wore short sleeves and skirt to the start and was comfortable enough throughout the 1/2.
Last year...I can't remember, lol. I think it was warm but not as warm as 07. Is that correct?

DH will be doing the goofy, we think. He's been sick since 12/20 with almost pnemonia (sp) and hasn't been able to run at all. Ugh. He says he is going to do both anyway--it'll kill him or cure him.

JimB-- he is a fellow FF/paramedic if you were to run into him. ;) Your wife is doing the 5K? I did that last year. It was fun. I am debating this year whether to sign up for the Half in 2010. I'm not a runner so it is a big decision with a huge committment attached for a couch potato. Yet, accomplishing the 1/2 was huge for me--my proudest moment, I think.

Good Luck to all you runners/walkers this year!! I hope the weather cooperates. The one thing we do not want either day is the r_ _ _ word.

I'm liking the cooler weather report (Sorry Mel and everyone else who is WISHing for warmth). I loved '06! North Coast person here. At least with these predicted temps there is a better chance for me to get over that marathon finish line! Whee!

Problem now is packing in one suitcase. I'll probably be adding a $econd $uitcase just b/c I'll need to have clothes for two seasons!

Yeah!!! it now sounds warmer for the half! We just finished a New Years Day fun run(3miler) in snow and slush and - 3 celcius. So this sounds great. We will be running in the T-shirts with the snowmen on the front that we got today. Just glad to hear it may feel warmer:cool1:

I too am hoping for the cold front from hell. Training runs that are 22 degrees and windy are a bit too much but the high 30's would suit me just fine for a start. ...and there is always the chance to see Bagger Mel in person.

Ugh! So what will you guys wear if it is raining and that warm?!?

I have a lightweight running rain jacket, but if the low is as high as 50 I seriously doubt I'll be wearing that.

I guess I need to make sure we still have some of those disposable ponchos, but even those are like heat tanks!

Do you guys take extra socks? :confused3

Oh no - it shows showers for Sunday day (60% chance) - I am keeping my fingers crossed that there will be NO rain that morning at least until after 2PM so that everyone can finish the full without any rain. I don't really feel like running in the rain.

Rain showers will probably get us slower people. Last year we got drentched walking back to BWV. Started spitting as we left finish line. Rain is the worse element by far and hard to prepare well for when doing 26 miles. I will pack garbage bag in fanny pack if stays that way. The worse part is wet feet which leads to blisters in my case :(

Local weather in Orlando is saying that showers that weekend, if any, should be light and brief. Hopefully no downpours.

Aren't showers more likely in teh PM than the AM around there? If I'm dreameing, please don't tell me. ;)

Yay for not too hot, though!

I can no longer read this thread. :scared:

I have only once trained in the rain. And it was a very light rain. Almost not really raining at all. :scared:

I will remind Charlie to bring two pairs of running shoes in case it rains during the Half, he'll have dry shoes for the Full.

I'm not going to get worked up until I can see the hourly weather, Even then, it's subject to change. :confused3

Usually true but T-Storms are occur in afternoon like last year. Last year things just turned bad really fast so you never know. We will know more by Thurs/Fri.

As you can see, I blocked last year out of my brain. What part of don't tell me if I'm dreaming didn't you understand? ;) ;) ;)

The weather.com and Accuweather forecasts are getting closer together. That is scary as they are both calling for heat on Sat and Sun!!!

I don't think it's possible to make us all happy weather-wise! I don't call a high of 75 heat - I call it perfection!

Anyway, I don't think it will get close to that temperature until well after we are all done with the half. For the half anyway it looks like it will be between 50-65 for the race, and for me that is perfect running weather.

I agree Kira. DH and I were talking last night and I think anything in the 50s/60s would be ideal for the race!
