I was wondering if we can make a collective effort to list SAFE and CLEAN bathroom stops for all the states along I95 for those of us driving to Fla. I have heard from some people who have driven that its really hit or miss when looking for good places to stop.

I'll start with the state I know best: New Hampshire.

95 only runs through NH for about 30 minutes. A good place to stop is the NH liquor store between the Hampton tolls and the Mass. border.

Another place is the truck stop in Greenland. Take the first exit after the Hampton Tolls in Greenland. Take a left at the end of the exit and take a left at the traffic lights near Mc. Donalds. The truck stop is right there.

We always use the Welcome stations on our drive from South Jersey, they have always been nice and clean, plus they are usually patrolled, which is nice to have when driving in the evenings or through the night.

In DE where we are from you only have one "rest stop" location. Luckily it is pretty nice as far as a rest area goes. It has several fast food chains to choose from, gift/food mart, gas companies, and plenty of people around. Its located near the end of 95 in DE in the center of the highway. Of course you are only in DE for maybe 30 minutes of your ride to FL!!!! :p

I like the Maryland rest stops too - they contain fast food places, gas stations, restrooms and infromation centers. However after these three MD stops the rest of the states have limited services at their rest stops - many just restrooms and vending machines. I can't remember exactly which ones, but some are just not very nice at all!

Just a a side not on rest stops - Ohio has the best ones I've ever seen!! We drove to a wedding in IN and took the OH turnpike. Quite a few (but not all) of the stops in OH were ver new buildings with nice facilities, restaurants, gas, gift/food mart, information, arcade and lots of room to walk around.

If you do.........check out Cedar Point(Sandusky ,Oh) Amusement park. It is the "BEST" roller coaster park in the USA. It is very clean, efficient, organized, etc. Its about the best thing Ohio is known for besides bad weather in the winter.

The welcome station in Florida is nice, clean restrooms and free orange juice!!

I'd like to help but I confess - we don't use the rest stops! We have made the drive from PA to FL via I-95 many times.

We always time our stops for gas with our meal times. We generally use the restrooms at the Cracker Barrel or Subway that we eat at.

Here's a tip, but don't overuse it, please. We ALWAYS stay overnight at Hampton Inns, so they definitely get our $$ and our recommendations when other people ask. If we want a clean restroom, we'll stop at that exit's Hampton Inn. Generally, we also verify our reservation for the Hampton Inn down the line that we'll be staying at that night or change to another Hampton Inn if our drive time seems to be slower or faster than expected.

I drive from Central FL to my oldest DD in Wilmington, NC. Rest rooms are very good between those two points. Most are near state borders. SC & GA have good vistor information centers

What about through the DC, VA, SC areas?

Anyone want to comment on those please?

We're driving from CT, but we have a motorhome, so we have our own bathroom on board :)

While driving through the DC/VA area why not stop at Potomac Mills Mall. There you can grab a nice lunch from the food court and a bathroom break and of course....stop by the Disney Catalog Outlet to get a Disney fix. My hubby works there and says that it has become a freqent stop for folks going and coming to WDW, especially from New Jersey. He seems to have alot of regulars!!

Could you give the exit/direction information for that please? Thanks.

I 95 does not cut through much of New York. There are no rest stops directly on the highway. I would not stop anywhere below exit 15 (14 on down to George Washington Bridge) going south. At exit 15 is the Thruway Diner. Nice diner to eat at, and has an ok bathroom. Exit 16 - about 5 minutes off the highway is an entertainment complex called New Roc City. A good place to stop but not for a quick bathroom break. Ok for a lunch/dinner stop and bathroom (applebee's restaurant).

Exit 18 - really nothing close.

Exit 19 - nothing close (Playland amusement park - oh come on, you are going to WDW!)

Exit 21 - McDonalds, Shopping Centers, Gas. Can't tell you about the bathrooms.

Connecticut

I can help you with the southern portion. There is a rest area right on the highway around Darien. I have stopped there on my way to work quite a few times. It is Ok.

Do not get off in Stamford, just because it is a large city and you may get lost with the one way streets.
