The Official POLYNESIAN VILLAS & BUNGALOWS Owners and Fans info thread

Random question, but do duo studios have connecting doors to neighboring rooms? Or is it only standard studios that connect?

I just wanted to say DH and I were married on the now gone Poly beach and while we loved Poly we had always chosen VGF over Poly. We have a small add on at CCR and were going to add on there to move our Thanksgiving trips to 1bdrms since we are more comfortable in the 1bdrms. Well after watching to Moana 2 preview on Monday DD started mentioning Poly, and the new tower, and their 1bdrms, and switching off each year between CCR and PIT. Fast forward we toured to PIT 1bdrm model and fell in love. For those who have not seen it in person yet the pictures do not do it justice it is breathtaking. We are now proud owners of VGF, CCR and Poly or PIT.

No connecting door for the duo. Studios only if part of the 2br lockoff.
The initial declaration included 14 dedicated studios and 10 2BR lockoffs (studio + 1BR). Meaning there are a number of studios that are not part of a lockoff.

I will be staying at the Poly for the first time the end of January. We are rope droppers so MK opens at 8:30AM for early entry. I read the monorail starts 30 minutes prior.
Does a line form at the Poly for the Monorail? If so how early?
Does it really start 30 minutes early or is it sooner?
Any tips and tricks are always appreciated!
Disney says transportation starts 30 minutes before park early opening… but in our experience, it’s usually about an hour early. For a 9:00 open and an 8:30 early entry, people start lining up around 7:15, and the first monorail is around 7:30-7:40.

If they re-used any design plans from Riviera, then those Studio rooms with no connecting door are likely up against the elevator shaft, which emanates a crazy amount of noise/vibrations through the wall (based on my experience at Riviera).

That is about what I expected but wasn't sure how large the line in the poly gets and how much of the line gets on the monorail during it's first stop.

Just checking what’s available for September and the 1 bed are only theme park views, have they declared all of the inventory yet or is everything else all booked up?

Is there any public information about how many of each room by view there are at the new tower? Or is that ever public information? I've only been able to find 268 new rooms, no real specifics.

Reason I'm asking is because we booked a Studio TP View and want to use one of our waitlists for either Preferred or Standard View (we'll be using one WL spot for the other part of our split trip, so can only afford one spot). My initial thought is Preferred, but then I was wondering if there are more standard view thus making it potentially more likely. I might be overthinking it, but figured I'd ask.

Another couple questions for the Poly first timer.

1. We are Lakeview so being in Moorea, to get to Epcot I know walking to TTC is best. For rope drop at MK are you best using the Poly monorail station or is TTC a good option? I assume NO to TTC because you have everyone in the parking lot but figured I'd ask!

2. Has anyone tried Bus to HS then either walk or Skyliner to Epcot International Gateway? Normally rope drop Frozen but Remy's would be wiser but seems like getting there is a real pain!

3. I have request for 3rd floor. (I know its only requested and won't know until that day) Is it better to check in on the MDE App as early as possible, check-in in person early, or does it not really matter? In my mind I would think those that go there early prior to check in at 4pm and make another comment to the CM that they'd would like a certain room as more likely to get it but I am not sure how it's all really processed.

THANKS IN ADVANCE FOR ANY INPUT!

I think it would be a toss-up between the Poly Monorail vs the TTC Monorail - you have people from the parking lot at the TTC, but also the monorails would be packed at Poly. We do not rope drop, but whenever we want to get to MK during peak times, we've found that the TTC ferry is the best option, especially when the boat runs frequently.

I don't think it matters WHEN you check in on the MDE app. But if you have a request in already, don't put in an additional request in when you check in. Rumor has it that if you do that, it will overwrite your existing request. At the Poly, I really don't think they look at the requests...AT ALL. In our experience, when I visited with my parents and wanted a ground level room (so it would be easier to get in and out with an ECV), they gave us a 3rd floor room. And the last 2 times I requested a 3rd floor room, we ended up in a ground floor room and had to switch mid-stay.

Thank you for the feedback!

My fear with the resort monorail is that it will be full of Contemporary that don't want to walk and TTC parking lot people that don't want to wait in the express line so then PVB monorail stop gets backed up. I have NEVER stayed in a monorail resort so I have no experience.

I know that you never put in for request on the online check in if you already have one. Regardless I don't think I will be upset with any room. We want 3rd for castle view and fireworks but that is only for 1-2 nights because the rest we will be in parks. As the handler of the loaded double stroller... I wouldn't be overly disappointed with ground level. Not telling DW that.

1. When we stay in Moorea, we usually walk to TTC and take the TTC ferry instead of the monorail. I think it's the better option because of the crowd factor. You can also take the resort boat, but I'm not sure how early they start running in case of rope drop.

2. If you want to rope drop, bus to HS then walk/boat/skyliner to Epcot will take too long. Another option if you don't mind paying is to use Minnie Van (or Uber/regular Lyft) to Beach Club Resort. Then, it's just a short walk to the International Gateway from there.

I was looking at this on Touring Plans yesterday. All the Preferred rooms are in that wing that goes off towards the hotel side facing the pool. There are 4 per floors 3-8 so only 24.
They are showing 61 standard studios on floors 2-7.

Without visiting in person, what is the best way to gauge the amount of crowding currently at Polynesian? I want to see if anyone is complaining about the pools being crowded, restaurants being hard to get into, transportation taking forever.

I see the Island Tower creating this problem, but if it doesn't, I guess no news is good news?

Is this the best place to keep track?

While I appreciate the intent of the question, I could point to moments where elements of everything you mention above has been happening at times at Poly forever. I have no doubt you’ll see “OMG the Lava Pool was people soup” or “the boat line was soooo long” or “Tambu was a madhouse” or whatever the complaint of the moment happens to be and the popular thing will be to blame the Tower - but those things have been said for years and will continue to happen for over the course of days/seasons/times of day. What you hear less of are the hundreds of ‘normal’ moments each day where people went about their Poly business having a great time. “Proving” the impact of the Tower will be very hard if not impossible, in my humble opinion. Personally I plan to continue to enjoy my Poly stays and the constant ebb and flows of crowds at arguably one of the most popular resorts on property.

Not trying to dismiss your question so please don’t read it as such, just giving my opinion.

Last week I went to stay at the Island Tower, I got to see a room tour of a dedicated 2 bedroom, one thing I noticed was the view from the balcony, I saw another post of someone on Facebook and had a similar observation that they were on the first floor. If they are saying that all the dedicated 2 bedrooms are Theme Park view, shouldn't the room have a view of the theme park? I saw no way that you could see the fireworks from the tour room or the person from Facebook from the bottom level with the view obstructed by VGF. Is anyone getting a 2 bedroom and noticing the same thing? I wanted to stay in one, but after the tour, I would not pay that amount of points for a VGF view

Yeah, per Touringplans info there are 16 dedicated 2BRs, all face the lagoon and are TPV. Six of them are the "end" of the building closest to the wedding pavilion - floors 1-6. I haven't seen views from each but I've suspected those lower floors may be questionable. The other 10 are more in the middle of the building floors 5-8 - those are all going to have fantastic views.

Seems like everyone and their brother is going to request "high floor" and inevitably there are going to be a few of those 16 that have inferior views that may not be to everyone's liking who have paid the $ or points for that category.
