Haha!! My family does a mental eye roll when I get started! I'm done with finals this week, so I'm off to get some 2008 guidebooks to peruse over the break. Any suggestions?? I've heard the Passporter is good, but I haven't even been to the bookstore to check it out yet.

Yeah, I heard it's coming in Friday night. We got searched once or twice, but they've relaxed the last few years. I always find some great bargains! This year, I even got a WDW picture frame!! I'm sure it cost $$$ in the parks, but it only cost me $1.50!!

Lucky you! We bought a frame at Splash Mountain that cost us 12.95 in 2000. I'm afraid to see what they go for now. I think I'll just change out the picture. As for books. I want to go see if the 08 versions are out. I have Disney World for Dummies,Frommers and Birnbaums Walt Disney World 2007. I didn't hear about Passporter till after I had purchased the others. I'm waiting for 08 to come out. We're doing a land/sea pkg.,so I'm probably going to get both, Disney World, and Disney Cruiseline. Even though I pretty much have the world of cruising down to a fine art:lmao:

We are going in Feb on Land Sea. I am a MAJOR planner....I think anyone who goes to WDW WITHOUT a plan is crazy. Unless you can go often and stretch things out...most people don't have that luxuery, often times WDW is a once or twice in a lifetime event.
I have been several times so don't feel hard pressed to see everything in one shot...and I don't like the commando style. This trip we have my folks and 2 young kids who have never been....will be interesting...glad everyone is pretty easy going and the kids have no expectaions but to have FUN!

I believe in the start EARLY and take a break plan. I have our ADR's booked and rough draft of park days picked out....we are going during a peak week.

I don't think the cruise really needs a plan or its own book even. This will be our 3rd Disney Cruise at it is ALL about the relaxation. Everything is pretty well planned out for you...just pick yer extras and have fun.

Hello Poly fans! It's our first time at Disney and we're staying at the Poly!
I have small children and who will need milk in the am and at bedtime. I was curious if one of the Poly stores sells milk in containers larger than the single serve. Perhaps 1/2 gallon -- assuming that will fit in the fridge.
Thanks so much!

I'm pretty sure Samoa Snacks has 1/2 gallon jugs, but if not they probably have the larger bottles (quart? Is that the size?).

Samoa Snacks is definitely the place to get 1/2 gallon contains of milk, plus bottled water and soda. It's on the 2nd floor of the GCH, right next to Trader Jacks.

Can it be true?

The Volcano Pool will be closed!

I am about to cry...we were so looking forward to swimming in the afternoon.

We may have to consider a different resort altother.

I have finally booked our family vacation and after much debate, have chosen the Poly as the resort for us. I am pretty sure I've made the right choice. Let's hope DH and DS agree when we get there. I've even splurged and gone with Concierge so they should have nothing to complain about.

This is going to be a big trip for us, we are from Sydney, Australia so its not a short flight. We are going to Disneyland in California first for 7 nights, the flying to Orlando where we are doing 7 nights in the Orlando area - we'll have a rental car so will do a combination of other Orlando attractions and WDW. Then we spend 5 nights at the Poly (no car) then we head back to LA for 2 nights before flying home.

We went to Disneyland last year for DS who was only 2 at the time and he loved it. This time he will be 4 and a half so I am sure he will have a blast.

Oh and we will be celebrating my 40th birthday

Thanks for all the great tips so far.

Take care
Angela

Angela....

You are going to be AMAZED!!! You will LOVE it!!! Wait until you ride the monorail!!! See the Castle... EVERYTHING!!!

Keep us informed of your choices for dining, etc and if you need any help... don't hesitate to ask!!!

We are doing Poly concierge, too! I am excited because we've never stayed there before and everytime we passed it from GF on the monorail I wished we were staying there! Are the rooms in the concierge building different than the ones elswhere? I saw pictures online and it looked like they didn't have the headboard...

When is it suppose to be closed?

From what I've read, the Volcano pool will be closed from mid-February to mid-March, although the dates can change depending on the progress of the work they're doing.

The rooms in the concierge Hawaii building are basically the same as the rest of the resort, but there is a built-in DVD player in the TV. You can go to the concierge desks on the first floor of the Hawaii building and take out movies to watch. There is no fee, but you have to sign the movies out through one of the CMs there. The headboards have all been changed over to the new ones now. Initially the headboards were delayed, so for a period of time the old ones were still in the rooms.

I have a ton of pictures of the Polynesian, including Hawaii building, on my web site. Just click the link below in my signature, then click on the "Disney World Trips" link, then find the Polynesian pages. Enjoy and have a wonderful time at the Polynesian!! :sunny:

Terry, thanks so much for pointing out the link to your pictures. They are fantastic and make we want to go there even more.

Can I ask, is there Ice available in the CL? I noticed there are cans of soda in a little fridge, but was wondering if there is ice? I am one of these people that can't drink a soda without tons of ice.

Also when can I expect to be contacted by CL staff for Itinerary Planning, is it at around 180 days?

Thanks for being so welcoming and helpful.

Cheers
Angela

You are going to just LOVE the concierge service! Yes, there is plenty of ice. We stayed in room 1517 and the ice machine was just down the hall. Also Concierge staff will be contacting you before 180 mark, they did us.:wizard:
We loved our room and had the best view of fireworks from MK. At night we would sit on our patio and sip iced teas and just soak it in. How I miss it!:sad1:

Angela, you do not need to wait for IPO to contact you. In fact, it is probably better if you make sure to contact them before 180 days, so you can make sure to get the ADRs you want when they open up for your dates.

If I were you, I would email them a week or so ahead of that date (at least). I don't have the email address handy, (you would think I had it memorized, lol) but I know it's just upthread here somewhere....

So excited! DH gave me a surprise for Christmas! :santa: He booked the Poly for us July 26th to Aug. 2nd. We stayed last July and loved it! I am looking so forward to going back!:cheer2:

Just a quick question...and forgive me if this has been asked before, but I don't have the time to look through all of these posts!!:rotfl: Does anyone have pictures of the Neverland Club? We are going in a few weeks and I am trying to "sell" the idea to my DS and DD so DH and I can have a date night:hug: , and I thought seeing some pictures might help my cause. Thanks!!

Speaking of the DVD players do they also come with a remote control to them? In my room there was no 2nd remote for them, so we only had one for the TV. It did not matter since we did not want to rent any movies, however I remember on the Atrium Club rooms at the Contemporary their DVD players came with a seperate remote control.

Well, we just got the official letter about the Volcano Pool resurfacing effort. But they say during this time "we are making the "Beach Pool" at the GF available for those who would like to use it." Anyone here been to the GF and checked that out? I would like to know what it is like if you have been there.

Now, I don't swim that much but I do know if the Volcano Pool is closed most of the kiddos will move over to the "quiet" pool nearby making it not quiet! Still will be a fun time -- I guess they have to refurbish sometime. (Of course I would like it done during someone else's vacation but ... can't have everything!)

I don't have any photos of the true 'inside' of the club past Wendy's window, but here's a photo I took of my DD8 when she stayed there this past Thursday.

My daughter was quite impatient to get into the club which is why her expression is so 'strained'. :lmao:
