Do they have corner rooms at the Poly that have double windows?

If we do end up with no balcony do they still have the full pation doors and do they open to let in the sounds from outoors?

My big kids, 18 & 19 are trying to decide where to rent sea raycers, Poly or BC. We are doing a split stay. Which has less activity on the lake, I may make the decision for them?

Does Capt. Cooks serve pancakes with chocolate chips, the 19 year old loves those?

Thanks for your help, we leave this Wednesday.

I can answer a couple. I have never read that corner rooms have double windows. The doors will open on second floors without balcony. Capt. Cooks does not sell chocolate chip pancakes.

Corner rooms do not have double windows, just the slider doors. If you don't have a balcony you can still open the sliders. You just have to stand in your room. I have not seen chocolate chip pancakes but when we went they had a limited menu at Captain Cooks. Since it reopened maybe it changed.

I have a few questions about "concierge etiquette"....
Having never stayed in these rooms before I wanted to check with all you experienced "loungers" before we embarrass ourselves.
Are you expected to eat in the lounge or is it ok to bring a plate back to your room?
If so, could my husband go to the lounge in the morning when the rest of us are getting ready and pile up a plate for our breakfast in the room?
If very early in the morning or very late at night is it acceptable to see young kids in their pjs just out of bed or going off to bed?
We bring reusable water bottles with us to the parks but I don't like the taste of the tap water - could I fill my bottle with spring water from the lounge?
Is the lounge a generally quiet area for people to sit at or can it be quite noisy at times with kids and is that ok?
What have you seen that is really unacceptable that we should mind our manners about?
Our kids are generally well behaved and will take their cues from us and those around them - but it would be very helpful to be able to give them boundaries so they know what to expect.
Thanks - strange questions I know - but this is new to us and I really don't want to offend anyone while we're there.

We just got back from a week in the Poly concierge. Hope these answers help you. We loved it!

Either is fine. They have regular plates for those who eat there, and paper plates if you take things back. We never walked back up to our rooms without grabbing a few cookies or a drink!

Sure. We saw people doing that. But no matter where you are, you'll be pretty close to the lounge. So in a lot of ways it's easier to head down there as you get ready and just eat there.

I think they expect no bare feet. Other than that, what's wrong with PJ's? No problems at all!

We were hesitant about this too on the first day, but we did it every day. People sometimes walked out of the lounge holding 4-5 cans of soda... so we didn't feel bad filling up one bottle with ice and water. You can even ask the staff for a bottle of water (Perier in glass bottles) and they'll give you one... but we just filled up there after breakfast.

Is the lounge a generally quiet area for people to sit at or can it be quite noisy at times with kids and is that ok?

Seemed like it was mostly quiet, and never too crowded... which is nice. But there's a special area with little tables and chairs near the TV for kids downstairs, and another sitting area upstairs. We never saw anyone sitting there reading a book or anything, so it's fine to be a social place.

What have you seen that is really unacceptable that we should mind our manners about?

They have a little area to put plates and glasses, and occassionally we'd see people not clear their own tables and just leave stuff. We thought that was rude. But otherwise, I think its just about being respectful of others. I think when they put out the dessert trays, if someone, you know, took an entire tray and walked away, that wouldn't be so great! By the way, the desserts are amazing!

frank mas gave you some great answers! :) But I just want to comment on the spring water question that you had, and give you my own personal opinion. If I had empty water bottles that I wanted to refill and take to the parks, I'd probably ask the CM at the lounge for a bottle to take back to my room, and then refill them there. I know that most people would be really good about washing out their refillable bottles, but I'm a bit of a germaphobe, and I'd probably not want to see someone putting the edge of their own refillable bottle right up to the tip of a bottle of spring water that was meant for others to share. I hope I am not offending you or anyone else!! Like I said, I'm a bit of a germaphobe! LOL Also, I could just picture myself trying to refill a water bottle and spill the water as I was pouring it in. lol And they DO allow you to take a full water bottle back to your room :) Anyway, just my opinion on this, and I hope you have a wonderful time! The Polynesian concierge is great. :sunny:

Thanks for the great answers frank_mas & seaspray. Now I can relax a bit.

I didn't know we could take the large bottles back to our room! I'll definitely ask the CM for that - I really didn't want to stand there filling up 4 bottles while anyone in the lounge looked on and wondered who the waterhog was!

Earlier this evening my family and I went over to the Polynesian and since we are staying Concierge in December, we thought it was a good idea to see where the Hawaii Longhouse was. When we got there went inside to the check-in area and spoke with a very nice Cast Member. He showed us pictures of the rooms and he told us we were welcome to see the lounge on the 2nd floor, so we did and it looked very nice. So after seeing for the 1st time I am looking forward to our stay there this December.

We just got back from a Poly Club Level trip. Trust me you will not be disappointed. I was somewhat concerned when I started reading the negative reviews of the Poly. Disregard them.

Usually when I read negative reviews I don't take them to seriously.

You will just love staying Concierge. The food was very good. Loved breakfast and watching Wishes from the lounge. Also the drinks and snacks ... afternoon and late night. Wow ... it was wonderful. I hope to stay Concierge again sometime, maybe on my 25th anniversary! :thumbsup2

We just love the Poly ... who was saying something negative about it ... bad bad person  (just teasing!) - but we thought both our trips were wonderful and the CMs were just great. We liked the grounds (pool a bit cold but ... I've heard many resorts like that now!). I think you can find good and bad reviews of any resort. I hope you have a WONDERFUL time in December!

Any recent Poly tripper's have some pics to share? I am feeling the need for a fix -- only 3 mo. to go for our first poly stay!!

Hey everyone
I am booked to go done to WDW from the 7th thru the 10th for work. I was booked at the BWI concierge today but I have been moved over to the Poly lagoon concierge.
So I need as much info as I can get about poly lagoon concierge. Does this mean I will get an MK view? Should I request a 1st or 3rd floor room?
Anything about the check in I need to know.

Thanks everyone

we just returned from poly lagoon concierge on 8/22. We loved it! Yes, you will want to ask for 1st or 3rd floor as the 2nd floor does not have a balcony. We requested 3rd floor but they didn't have it at that time, they told us we could move the next day if we would like, but we ended up with the 1st floor and loved it. It was so nice to have the patio and just walk right out and see the MK castle, the beach etc.
When you arrive, you will see a sign for club level check in, just go there 1st and they will escort you by golf cart right to the Hawaii building! Also, you should be getting an email from the poly concierge staff, they will arrange all ADR's and just about anything else you will need. If you don't hear from them soon, don't be shy, just shoot them an email first! That is what I did and they were very responsive. All the cm's we encountered at the Poly were fabulous!

Hi Kelly, you will have MK view. It is the absolute best view anywhere in WDW IMO.

We've always requested 1st floor and do love it. Others prefer the 3rd floor for more privacy. Some like the second for easy access to the lounge. Second floor rooms don't have balconies as you know but there are sliding glass doors. In 3 weeks it may still be hot enough that you won't spend much time out on a balcony or patio anyway. I hear it is sweltering down there today.

We love Hawaii and can't wait to get back there. Not too long for us now! :cool1:

Have fun and happy planning.:goodvibes

We are going in Dec. The question I have is, is there an elevator for "special needs" guests? Has anyone ever stayed in a "special needs" room? Any help would be helpful. Thank you!

Just wanted to first say, Congratulations and secondly, you will have no worries staying Club level at the Polynesian. It's beyond fantastic, IMO. I got a fantastic deal and had a wonderful opportunity to stay in a GVC room and it felt like the trip of a lifetime to me. With the ever rising prices, it may have been.;)

The CL staff was great and was quick to help me out anytime I had a question or concern. The lounge was a nice place to relax, the food offerings were interesting at times, but good as well. Chef Dick does a great job with the food offerings and his carved decorations are unique and beautiful. That trip was special to me on so many levels and I'm so glad I did everything possible to make it happen. I met some great people there on that trip and made friends that I look forward to seeing again. I have some great memories from that trip that I will cherish always.
In my 5 trips to WDW, I never have been so relaxed and enjoyed myself as I did on that trip. The CL staff at the Poly had a huge hand in that, also being at the Poly for 7 nights didn't hurt it either.:lmao: It's easily my best trip yet, even with the late July heat and humidity.

I think you will become a Poly addict after your stay and will be spoiled for anything else. I know I am and my family doesn't think it's a true vacation unless it's a stay at the Poly. I just can't see myself staying any place else while in WDW.
