Garden View -- we had 3rd floor Fiji ..marina side and it was awesome! Close to the GCH and we could see the CR and Space Mountain from our balcony! We will only be at the Poly for one night -- 12/15 and then we move over to the BCV. Of course we miss each other by one day! I'll chat with you more somewhere scrappy when I get a chance! :)

cool, IMing DH even though he is across the table from me. I'll skip over there later tonight. ;)

It's only three days until our first-ever Polynesian Resort stay! We hope to see some other Bounce Back free dining folks there - look for the brown on brown "Tiki Time" t-shirts and say "hi" to M-I-C-K-E-Y and family!!

We're thinking about our trip for 2008 and want to stay at the Poly. What buildings are good for Lagoon view? Garden view? Please help with any suggestions. We want to be close to the main pool.:)

Bounce Back person here as well! We're not checking in until 8/22 though. Have a wonderful time!

In the words of "The Mouse" himself, "ah shucks!" Sorry to hear that my fellow "Bounce-Backers" will not be there until later. Regardless, have a wonderful time at the Polynesian and enjoy the final year of free dining (at least "free" in terms of not at least paying for your tips!!)

Two days now...

I am a Poly newbie. I will be one of the many frantically calling tomorrow morning to finally book this trip. We'll be there Feb. 2nd-9th. I can't wait for it to sink in tomorrow morning that we'll be staying at the Poly. We've even planned one day in the trip this time to sit and relax at the resort. I'm so glad that we picked this one. Trust me, I had a time trying to convince DH that it was worth the cost.

Hello everyone
Got back yesterday from the Poly. Stayed in a LV concierge room.

Was a great trip for the most part. Had a fantastic room on the first floor. What a view..the castle straight ahead, the GF, the contemporary and could even see part of the Wilderness Lodge.

Was our first time in Hawaii and we enjoyed it alot. Too tired to do a whole trip report so I'm going to do just a general recap.

The parks were pretty crowded. We never went in July before. We had some 8am breakfasts in MK and MGM which helps us make sure we are in the parks at opening. We usually left between 12 and 2 when it got very crowded but we'd get alot done those first few hours.

Did one EMH in the morning at MK That first hour alone we got a lot done so I def recommend morning EMH.

We used Magical express which was great. When we arrived there was a huge line checking in for the ME buses but the line moved fast with the 13 cast members behind the counter. As soon as we got on the line for the Mk resorts they told us our bus was ready to go.

We had 2 rooms at the Poly. My sister in law's garden view was ready when we arrived but my LV wasn't. We checked out her room and then the lounge. The kids loved the afternoon snacks and drinks and the view of the castle is very nice from the lounge. We sat outside on our patio most nights at 10 to watch the fireworks. This was perfect for us as we have 4 kids under 9 years old.

The room was usually cleaned by the time our afternoon nap arrived. And turn down was great to come back to. They not only gave fresh towels but refilled the shampoo and all those other lilttle bottles.

Unfortunately i never got to meet any other DISers or the fantastic Allison from the IPO.

I'll be back later with some more and some strange observations.

Mr. Mike-

Thanks for posting. Can't wait to hear more. How was your patio? Was there any bird poop? That's kinda what keeps me from requesting a patio.

Thanks

Its funny you should ask because I was worried about that. I had asked for 3rd or 1st floor and for our 2 rooms to be close together which i was worried about because they were different room categories. When we checked again if the room was ready they told us it wasn't but then switched our room to be closer to my sister in law and we were put in 1512. Again i have to say how great this view was. I actually walked outside the patio to check the views from the other patios. 1513 was still ok but starting with 1514 the view was blocked a tiny bit. This is walking towards the TTC.
..,..umm back to the patio poop; I saw no poop at all until our last day and even then it wasnt much at all. There were plenty of ducks and they walked by the patio often and hung out there some times too.

Here is my first strange observation.

When charging to your room you are given a $1500 limit. I was under the impression that once you reach that limit they charge your card and you start over again. I was using my room key to buy cologne at epcot when i was told the transaction was denied.
When i got back I asked at the concierge desk and was told that when you reach that limit you have to come to desk and have them charge your credit card. She said they wont do it automatically.
i thought that was wierd but ok. Then because my card hadn't been charged yet I wanted to put cash on my account instead of charging the full $1500 to my card. I had been charging all our meals and my sister in law was giving me cash for her share.
She told me that couldnt be done and they had to charge the card but again not until i come in and ask them to charge it. All sounded strange to me; How would I know how close I am to my limit without tracking every meal, toy, gift and mickey ice cream bar i bought?

That IS strange, and I know that we've put down cash/traveler's checks on our room account while staying at the Polynesian concierge on past trips. I wonder why they wouldn't let you do that?? :confused3 Very strange!

Were you there last weekend too? If so, I'm sorry we missed you. We were there until last Monday, we were in the lounge until around 3:30pm when we headed up to the front of the GCH to meet our towncar.

I'm glad you had a great trip! :)

P.S. I was told that Allison was on vacation and/or visiting relatives out of state. We were sorry that we missed her too, she did a wonderful job with our pre-planning arrangements.

The easiest way would be to go to the front desk or in your case the Concierge desk and get a printout of your total so far. It takes literally seconds to do and gives you a detailed list of what you bought and where you bought it. I did mine about half way through my stay last week and it gives you a good indication of where you're at spending wise. On my first trip to the Poly in 02 my wife and I got quite the shock when we checked out and learned about doing this to keep our spending in check.

That monday was our first full day and we were at the MK but we probably saw you as we usually stopped in the lounge for a drink before heading back to the room. We were wearing our orange braclets but didnt see any others wearing them.
Yes Allison was away until wednesday. Before we left for WDW I asked her if we would see her while we were there and she left me a message on our room phone to have them page her so we could introduce ourselves to her but I didnt get the message right away and never had the chance to meet her. She absolutely did a wonderful job for us too. She would be a big reason I would choose to stay Poly club level again.
