I didn't see one started and since this is the start of the 2010 holiday season many of us need to start planning and saving very early. I have already booked frequent flyer tickets on United so I am set on that part but need to get the car booked.



So far the best deal I found is with Alamo 11/15- 11/26 intermidiate for $283.31. ID 7013904 Rate BYW9. I found a 1 class car upgrade coupon on their website but it says it will expire before my dates but on the coupon it says expires 12/31/2010. I might have to call Alamo to find out why, I could not see what the blackout dates are. I booked a 2nd reservation for a compact with the same codes for $253.90 in case I can use the upgrade coupon. I am hoping for a $30 or more off coupon or something similar plus using the upgrade.

Please post your deals along with any expiration dates so we can all try and get the best price possible!

I booked a midsize on National, and am also a Emerald Aisle member via free membership on Mousesavers. My dates of travel are 11/1/10 arriving at 2 pm and departing 11/7/10 at noon. I booked using the Continental Airlines FF code and a coupon I got from ebay for a free day with 5 day rental.

Base rate is $174.99 taxes and fees bring the total to $233.

Not bad - the coupon cost me $1.99 on Ebay and saved me close to $35. . Also, by joining Emerald Aisle and booking a midsize I can pick any car on the Emerald Aisle.

I just cut/copied this from the September 2010 thread and tried this coupon and code for my dates of 11/1 - 11-7 and got the same price as below. That's a pretty big savings, hmmm.....maybe i'll book it although i'm hoping for a minivan on the Emerald Aisle.


We have a midsize(upgrade to standard) booked with Alamo....Sept 26 (noon) to Oct 1 (1pm) for $162.96. We used Costco 7014627 with Alamo's upgrade coupon AU2729MJW. We are hoping for a $25.00 off coupon closer to our dtaes that does not need a Sat night stay. If not, we can live with this rate

I used the code and coupon above and saved $10 off my rate, now $243 for a midsize for 12 days. While it is not a lot of savings $10 can pay for parking or lunch somewhere. I will keep checking for new codes as the time gets closer.

OP thank you for starting the thread..my wife thinks i'm crazy for planning so far ahead but she never complains when things go smooth during vacation

Looks like it was with Thrifty or Dollar under Standard Van (8 passenger) after you search for minivan. It is $352 + taxes = $527.61.
