Inside Ball - Congratulations!

Alice28 - Your pictures are beautiful. I wish we had a Flash Portraits studio near us, but it looks like there aren't any out here at all.

Tasha - Good luck to your brother.

Vald - Hope Katrina's rash clears up.

Katerkat - Glad to hear about BR's PT!

Also, I've never been to Ohana. Am I missing much?

Thanks, SL.

Robin, Molly is gorgeous! I like the one where she is on her tummy the best I think :goodvibes . Of course, she looks darling in all of them :flower: .

We are back from the doctor's. He says that the rash is just infant acne and possible heat rash. But if that is all it is why is it spreading?? First it was just her face, then her neck too, now it's halfway down her belly and on her back and there are a few patches on her arms . I just don't know what to do. I hate to call back when the dr. has looked at it but I am worried. Do babies even get acne on there chests and backs? What else could it be? Dh had to take her to the appt. because I had to get kids off the school bus and he assures me that the dr. saw it on her tummy but it just doesn't fit to me.

Editeted to add: This rash definitely seems worse right after she eats. In between it fades but doesn't totally disappear. Could she be having a reaction to her formula do you think? Would you all try a lactose free formula to see if the rash goes away?

Val- have you changed laundry detergents recently? Maybe she is sensitive to either the detergent or if the clothes she is wearing are itching her?? That's what I thought of when you said neck and back.

I think infant ashes and acne are common, but maybe it could be her formula? I would think your doctor would have mentioned that if he thought it was the formula....Does it seem to be bothering her? Is it a fine rash? She doesn't have a fever, right? And it's interesting how it gets brighter when she eats- I would think it would take awhile for the rash to show up if it was a reaction to the formula (like 30 minutes or so to get in her intestines)...

I'm stumped! :confused3

vald1977

Lily never had any formlua until she was 8 months old, then it was a minor amount in ceral. She threw it all up. Shortly after that we started to notice a rash on her face when she encoutered anything with any dairy in it. We were told to stay away form dairy, but it didn't seem to bother her when I ate it. After a few months it did. The day after her 1st birthday we had her tested, she is allgeric to milk (we guessed that already and eggs.)

We think she didn't actually develop her allgery until she encoutered it in her diet herself, not my breast milk. So she didn't have it before 6 or 7 months. My guess is it happened after she had antiboic for the 1st time at age 7 months.

Yes this could possibly be a milk or food allgery, or maybe not. Most likely it isn't lactose. That normally cause more diffcomfort then rash.

I would talk to Dr about it and mention your concern. If you swicth be careful. Some of the special formluas are not milk free (they have casein a milk protein in it.) So be careful about that.

for example Pregestimil has casein in it (milk protein) (or at least did when one mother who wrote some info pages I have been reading was feeding it to her son, 4 years ago I think.)

So I am extra senitive about it since it is currenlty my lot in life, but it is worth mentioning to your Dr. If it is an allgery, the more she has it the longer it will take her to outgrow it and the more symptoms will apear. (like blood in the dipar)

It could be a number of other reasons too. Children with exemia (how do you spell that) are more likely to have food allergies (Lily never had any, still doesn't.) Lilys face rash looks like red blobs. More or less depending on how much she gets. Minor traces will get one or 2 dots, most people wouldn't notice it. Real dairy or eggs will result in an imediate rash all over her face that last for a few hours. If your DD eats often the rash may never have a chance to go down. It can show up with in seconds of eating, or 5 to 10 min.

If you want to post or email me a picture of it I can say if it is like the one Lily gets.

Don't worry about being demanding with the Dr. better safe then sorry. Mention what you see. They don't really know more then what they can see and you spend much more time with the child to notice things like when it apears.

JennLynn, Madison HATED her carseat too. She screamed from the moment she was placed in it, till the moment she was removed. It made very, very long drives from DC-NJ. Around 9 months, we switched her to a convertible carseat and what a difference (she had been in a Graco infant carrier type till then). She never screams in her carseat now, and she actually seems to enjoy sitting in it and falls asleep. The change was instant once we switched her seats. If I had known that I would have switched her much, much sooner, like as a newborn. The seats she's in now are Britax (a Roundabout in my husband's car and a Marathon in my car). They feel much softer and more padded than her Graco infant seat. Not sure what kind of carseat Eli is in, but if it's an infant seat maybe try moving him to the convertible type.

I wanted to keep her in the infant seat cause I thought it was convenient-well, how convenient is it when the baby is constantly screaming in it, so you never even take it out of the car? Once I realized that is when we switched and I'm so glad we did. With our next baby, we'll try the infant seat again, but if he/she cries in it all the time then we'll try the Britax and see how that goes. Never again will I persevere with the infant carseat like that.

Eli screamed the entire drive home from Avery's preschool today (first day). It just broke my heart. I hate it! DH called to ask me how it went and I about broke down crying.

Eli is currently in a Graco infant seat. Sometimes he does ok, but mostly he cries (hysterically) unless I am back there to distract him. And that doesn't even work all of the time. He just likes to be in arms.

Avery has a Roundabout. Maybe I will have DH flip it around and I will take Eli for a drive and see how it goes.

Thanks for the tip! :)

Madison's favorite place to be was in my arms too, so I'm sure that contributed to hating the carseat too. I always had to sit in the back with her when someone else could drive. She'd usually cry then too, but at least there was the chance that I could at least distract her for a few minutes at a time. I even resorted to nursing her in the carseat while we drove during some of the longer car rides when we just couldn't stop every 20 minutes. My mom kept thinking it was simply a matter of keeping her entertained, that is until she drove from DC-NJ with us once and heard Madison scream the entire 5 hours, except when we stopped and took her out. And she was about 6 months old on that drive, so this wasn't something she ever grew out of. Good luck trying the Roundabout-hopefully it will work better for Eli like it did for Madison.

How did Avery like preschool though? I bet it was fun to get back after the summer. Madison starts her 1st day of preschool on Thursday (the 15th). I'm so anxious about dropping her off-it'll be the first time she's not with me (or family) since she was 3 months old.

We slept through the night!!
I woke up at 6:30 this morning poking DH and asking if he had gotten up with Lucas at all. He hadn't which means he's officially slept through the night (9pm-7am) for the first time. Although he's sleeping at his grandma & grandpa's house so I'm sure he won't do it again tonight. My mom likes to keep his arms outside of the Miracle Blanket which sort of defeats the purpose. But she's the one who will have to get up with him. I think she secretly likes it.

Is anyone getting gifts for grandparents on Grandparents Day? I think we're going to buy a couple frames and give pictures of Lucas to my parents, DH's parents, and my grandmother.

I did the nursing thing with Avery also. She didn't hate her car seat until 4 months though.
Avery loves preschool. She was so excited to go back. I was fine with dropping her off because I did it all last year, but DH was a wreck. I was nervous last year, but as the year went on it was fine. :)

Eli fell asleep in his swing today! Up until today he has started crying/fussing 2 minutes after I put him in it. So yippee! :teeth:

Just wanted to say HI to everyone. Love having 4 kids. Baby Tyler is doing great.

Have a good weekend and bye for now. :flower:

Hi everyone,

Kona is down for a much needed nap so I thought I would catch up.

Everyone's pictures are so cute.

Kona loves her car seat. We had to move her up to the next size and I purchased the Triumph 5 Comfort Sport Car Seat by Evenflo and it is WONDERFUL!

vald1977,

I hope you were able to get the rash under control. I didn't think that babies could get acne on the chest area. It just doesn't sound like that but I could be totally wrong.

Kona is on Lactose free formula but she never got a bad rash on the other stuff-just had other problems.

I just went overboard on babystyle.com They have some of the cutest kid's clothes. Do any of you moms shop on that website?

I hope everyone has a great weekend. I'm escaping tomorrow to get my hair done while DH watches the kids. Gosh, I love that man. He worked 40 hours of overtime the last 2 weeks so he just wants to rest all weekend. I just love him so much for working so hard.

Alice,

I just wanted to say hi :wave2: I know you were going through some stuff a few posts back. Hang in there. I'm sending hugs. :grouphug:

Disney Phd,
Here are some pics. It is kind of hard to photograph so I hope you can see the rash. Thanks for looking at it.

I'm not an expert on rashes, but the one time my oldest son had a heat rash, that's what it looked like. :confused3 Have you tried putting any mild ointment on it?

Molly had her 6 month appt today- 90%-100%+ on all her measurements! She was a hair over 28" in length; 18 pounds 3 oz and her head was 17 1/2"

I think she is going to be a tall girl like me.

This week has gone MUCH better with my older DS in school and giving me a slight break. When Molly naps, it's like I just have one child! DS4 is behaving a lot better, not having older brother to squabble with him all day long.

DS4 had this small rash by his mouth which I called the advice nurse on and she kind of brushed off. Turned out it was impetigo! Yuck! Molly's NP looked at it today and prescribed an antibiotic for it- nice that I didn't have to make a whole separate appt for him. We are rehashing the importance of washing GOOD with soap after going potty- he tends to skip that step often and I have to chase after him to get him to come back to do that.

I met DS7's teacher last night at an open house for just her students- she is AWESOME. For the first time I feel great about the beginning of the school year. While his K and 1st teachers were awesome, very experienced teachers, his class size was 33-35 kids! For ANY teacher, that is very difficult! By Christmas last year, the school added another 1st grade teacher, so after the New Year it went down to 23 kids, but he had to change teachers (I ok'ed it cause he's a pretty resilient kid and I knew it wouldn't throw him). He got another very experienced and loving teacher this year and he's starting off with only 23 kids in his class. Yahoo! I think it will be a great year, and his teacher asked for DH's address cause she wants all the students to write him letters. :cloud9: Very nice- that makes me feel good.

To me it also looks like a heat rash but it only appears on her chest like that after she eats and she hasn't been especially hot or sweaty :confused3 . I hope it is just heat rash or acne and goes away soon so I don't have to worry about it anymore ;) .

Holy cow on 33-35 kids in the class :earseek: ! That's crazy. I'm glad your DS has a smaller class and a great teacher :sunny: .

I can remember Lily's skin looking like that a lot when she was a baby. They called it baby ance also. When she has an allerigic reaction it is more spothy and not as fine as that. However since it gets wrose when she eats I would continue to look into it. Does she have any other problems? Lose bms? Apears to be in pain? Trouble sleeping (that is my DD biggest probmlem.)

The bumps on her chest seem like the baby acne. The red spoch on her lower left back is more like what Lily gets when she gets hives.

You are right, heat rash should go away when she isn't hot or active. After a nice cool bath. If it never goes away and gets worse with eating, it deserves a dr visit and one that will listen to your concerns and at least try something for treatment.

Good luck, I hope it is just heat rash or baby ance and clears up soon and is nothing more then that.

We had dinner at the mall tonight. The staff at olgas tried to be helpful with what I could and coudln't eat. I looked it up on line 1st and they had a partical list for allergies, but not all the foods were on it. After we let the kids play at the play area. Oh my, Lily had so much fun scooting around. It was funny the other kids followed her around and everyone had to comment on how they had never seen a child scoot that way before.

I found my old baby book today, there wasn't to much in it since I was the 4th child. However it said I weighed 14 lbs 8 oz at one year. I thought I was 16 lb's like both my girls. I guess they aren't doing too bad. :p

Alice28, yes back to preschool is nice, very nice. I might actually get a few thing down now (or at least some rest.) :grouphug:

DisneyPhD,

:guilty: You went to Olga's. I miss that place. We don't have any of them down here. I'm jealous. :teeth:

There is too much to reply to! I haven't been very good about getting on the boards lately. Sorry if I miss anyone.

Alice28: loved the pictures of Molly! How sweet!
Valerie: Poor Katrina! I hope the rash/acne goes away soon.
SL: Way to go Lucas - sleeping thru the night!!
Tasha: I hope everything goes smoothly for your brother.
Justhat: I'm glad your in-laws are ok.

I just wanted to say that Jace rolled over onto his tummy for the first time today! I was so surprised! And of course I didn't see it the first time he did it. I was talking to my neighbor and when I looked back at him he was on his tummy! He did it again two more times thankfully and I got to see and take video. I am so proud of my little munchkin!

Hope you all have a nice weekend! The weather here in CT is supposed to be amazing (It's been that way all week).

I found I can eat the bread, the meat in the orignal olga (no sause rather dry) and french fries. At least I can still have the bread. No orange cream cooler, no snackers, no spinish pie (yes to the lemonade :goodvibes )

Well you might not have Olga's but you have chick-fli-a. I miss them. Just as well since I just looked up the ingredents on line and almost every piece of chicken has milk or eggs in it.

Hubby and DD are waching the Disney Planning DVD upstairs on the new HD LCD TV and talking about our next trip. It looks good. I am thinking if we stay at SSR this next trip I need a, it has been 6 months since I had pizza be good to myself spa treatment of my choice! :cheer2:

ya for Jace, :cheer2: :cheer2: Before you know it he will be rolling over and crawling away when you change is nappy!

Good weather here too. We often go camping for the spet 11 weekend and it is always great. My brother is in NCY for this weekend. I think it must be strange to be there over 911.

Vald, Madison had a rash like that once around 6 months old. It lasted maybe a week or so. It appeared for what seemed like no reason and I took her to the dr and she said it was nothing. I was pretty sure of that myself, but we were going out of town so I wanted to be sure. When we got home the rash was more or less gone, through no treatment of mine other than some Aquaphor after her bath. Then I put her Princess in Training t-shirt from Disney on here and 'poof' the rash was back. I think maybe I forgot to wash it before she wore it, but I never put things in her dresser unwashed, so I'm not sure, maybe it was just the material, who knows. She never wore that shirt again so I can't be sure. The rash left though, but she does have some ezcema on her elbows (has had that since around 5 months) so not sure if they're related.

Vlad - I agree with DisPhD. I think the rash might be infant acne. My DD had it and it took a couple of weeks to go away. She had it on her face and chest.

SL - :cheer2: Congratulations! There is nothing better than realizing your child just slept through the night.

joats- Congratulations to Jace. I'm still waiting for Aidan to roll over and he'll be 5 months on the 18th. He just wants to skip that little milestone and sit up. If I'm not supporting him, he tries to pull himself up to stitting.

Well, Aidan and I made it through our first week with me back to work. I think he did well with the babysitter. She said he is so good and happy. That kind of worries me though. She has 5 babies there. If Aidan is so good, he'll be the one who doesn't get any attention. He's gotten himself on a schedule that isn't much fun for me. He goes to bed no later than 8pm, usually earlier. Then, he gets up for the day at 4am. I have to get up for work at 5 am anyway so I never get back to sleep. I've been miserable and cranky. I snap at my two older kids. Luckily, I love my job once I'm there, but I'm finding that I can hardly speak in my morning classes because I'm so tired.

Lily was the same way. I can truely say her 1st goal in life was sitting up. She worked so hard to achive that, once she did she didn't care anymore about anything else (hense her talking so long to crawl or scoot in this place.) She could roll over, but rarely did, and didn't figure out you could roll over and then sit up from there (she does not, but not at 1st.)

The only thing better then just realzing you slpet through the night (and the baby did too,) is being able to do it more then once. On a regular bases would be nice. Lily has gone back to every 2 hours. I think it has to do with her diet. Too many dairy slip ups. Hope things get better again soon. At least I now she can do it now. (she is teething too.)
