Sorry for the double post. Does anyone else have trouble with baby carriers. I have the Nojo baby sling and the Snugli infant carrier. I despise both of them. I haven't spent money on the Bjorn because I figure I'll hate that too. No matter what I do, I can't seem to get the baby comfortable in these things. He freaks out. Besides that, they really don't free up my hands anyway because I'm afraid to do anything because of the fear that he'll fall out (especially the baby sling). Am I stupid or do others have trouble with these things too? It just seems to be the only way I'll ever get anything done in my house. Does anyone have any advice on these things. I'm so frustrated.

I had the same problems (and carrier's) with my 1st DD. She hated them. I took the sunglie back to the store (the sling was a hand me down.) I did use a hip huger kind from right start, but DD always wanted to lean down and look at the floor and that hurt my back holding her up.

This time I bought a slightly used leather baby bjiorn form a friend for only $20!!!! It is GREAT. I got to tell you we have gotten our moneys worth out of it, even if we paid the over the $100 for it (no idea how much it really costs.) Make sure you get the one that has the metal silds to hold the kid in, not the buttons.

We used it all over WDW, infact I wouldn't go to WDW or any place like that with out one. It really is much better then the sungly, and you can get them in our out in just seconds. :cheer2:

I have never been able to get the hand of the sling, but I know some people really like it.

BYW Lily is 16 pounds now (9 months) and the bjiorn works great with her. I think it goes much higher then that. ( I had a friend put her 30 pound son in one and mow the lawn, but I don't recomend that! :earseek: )

Hi, everyone! Well, I just have to say I think I created a monster! While I was in the hospital I would sometimes feed Kylie in my hospital bed and then she would fall asleep beside me and we would take a nap together in my bed. Now that she is home I can get her to sleep just about anywhere most of the time. She is in her crib right now. She will also sleep in her bassinet but for the last couple of hours during the night she refuses to sleep anywhere except beside me in our bed. I put a couple of pillows under my arm to prop her up and cover her with my blankets and that is how we sleep. I swore I would never let her sleep in bed with us. Funny how much things change once the baby actually arrives! I would rather have a happy baby that will sleep than have her cry for hours over it. Yeah, she's spoiled already!

We went through my baby albums last night to see if she looked anything like me when I was a baby. We were shocked! She looks identical to me when I was a baby except she has Dh's hair color. She's a week old today and I can't get over how much I love her and am grateful that she arrived safely despite having the cord wrapped around her neck and needing a c-section and everything. Oh, and add me to the list of mommies who love to shop for little girl's clothes. I am itching to hit the stores!

Here's a question for those of you who had to deal with the feet swelling during preg. and after delivery. How long after you had your baby did the swelling completely go away? It has been a week and my feet are still swollen. I was told it will go away but I am just not sure how long it takes. I was told to drink lots of water and avoid salt to help with it. Does anyone know anything else that might help? Well, have a great day everyone!

Tasha---I've let all 3 of our babies sleep with us---don't worry about it! Just be sure to introduce the crib sooner rather than later- much easier to get a 4-5 month old to stay in crib vs. a 2 year old! ;) :teeth:

It takes your body several weeks to flush all the water out--night sweats are horrible but it's your way of knowing your body is still getting the fluid out. Keep up the water intake and move around as much as you can. I hate swollen feet too- mine were awful after #2, but by the end of week 2 I would think it'll be gone.

Gymboree just introduced a new line...I could just die it's so cute. :bitelip: :faint:

I let BR sleep with me for our morning nap from 8-10. It's ncie to snuggle! But luckily he's a very easygoing baby and doesn't have a problem switching from my bed to the car seat to the middle of the living room floor... :rotfl: If he wants to sleep, he will! The only thing he hates is sleeping flat on his back.

Some good news for us - I had to nurse him without the nipple shield we've been using because we were away from home and I forgot it. He had no problem and it didn't hurt me either (I was afraid to not use it, but I guess for no reason!) I nursed him with it on and off for a few days and now we've been shield free for four days! Woohoo! It also cut our nursing sessions by 20 minutes, since the shield let a lot of milk leak out.

I hated both my snugli and my nojo baby sling. I never tried the bjorn because it's too much money and I don't like all the straps and buckles. I got a really awesome sling from 4 Peas In a Pod
It doesn't have all the dumb padding that the nojo has so you can actually get it really tight so that it really is hands free. I use it for Kaleb every time I go somewhere(even church) and I even use it for my 2 year old sometimes when he really wants some mommy time, he loves it. You can carry them in the cradle hold(which I dont like) and you can carry them up on your shoulder, on your hip, sitting face out in front of you. I used it at WDW in March when we went for the day. My back never bothered me at all. And it's easy to put on and tighten up. I love mine so much! I plan to use it exclusively when we go to WDW next weekend(he is 4 months) and also in Sept.(he'll be 8 months). In fact...it was using the sling that got him off his pacifier. Everytime we went somewhere or for a walk I would put him in a sling and within 20 steps he was asleep without his pacifier. :goodvibes

:cheer2:
I can't believe I have been out for a week. DH stayed home Monday because he wasn't feeling really well, neither was I. He helped me get the house cleaned up, good thing too because everyday I have been feeling worse and worse. I have been doing more than normal to make sure all he has to do when he gets home is, well nothing. He's been working 10 hour days and he's been working an hour away from home, so he hasn't been getting home until 6 and with him not feeling great I have been trying to make things better. Well that plan has backfired on me because now I am worse and as always there isn't anyone to take care of the Mom. :sad2: I took Kaleb for his 4 month check up yesterday. He weighs 14lbs 4 oz(50%) and is 26in.(95%). He only will nurse like 1 time a day. He just doesn't seem to want to work that hard anymore. :sad2: We are supposed to go to WDW tomorrow(myself, DH, Dsis) for a thrill ride trip. But, if I'm not feeling okay by this evening we'll have to cancel. :guilty:

Has anyone been watching Regis and Kelly at WDW and looking for lime green shirts in the crowd? :teeth:

Hi everyone. Thanks for the tips on pumping. I think I'll have to extend the time. When I pump every 2 hours, I'm not very full. I get more if I wait until I'm a little full and pump longer. I've increased the intensity on the pump a bit too now that I'm healed, we'll see if that helps.

Tyler had his 2 week checkup on Wednesday. He was 7 lbs. 10 oz. when we left the hospital - he was 9 lbs. 6 oz. at his checkup! Yeah!

The dr. wasn't concerned about his inconsistant pooping either. Just as long as it was the right color and consistancy. Isn't it amazing how quickly your life changes to focus on bodily functions when you have a baby? ;)

This is going to sound horrible, but I could really go for a drink! lol - it's been so long. I hate to do it though because that means I have to dump my milk out then right? That stuff is so hard to come by, I hate to waste any of it.

Enjoy your weekends!

Tamie

Tamie-

there may be some more cautious mommies here, but I say go for the drink. If anything it will help you relax and encourage more of a "let down" on milk. One drink is not enough to warrant a "pump and dump" IMHO. If you were to go on a bender, that's another story. When DH was home in April, several evenings I had one cocktail when we went out to eat; I did not pump and dump and Molly didn't seem to be affected by it one iota. Neither did my boys when I was nursing them.

Speaking of nursing, Molly definitely is hungrier than I seem to be supplying. I still nurse her first, and then if she's still hungry, I'll give her a bottle. My boys would take about 4-6 oz of formula a day- the rest was breast milk. She takes about 12-16 oz a day. I feel guilty about it, and yet, I just can't stress out over things like that anymore. That's probably what's making my supply less---the stress I have in my life right now. I know full well in my brain that formula is wonderful- perfectly acceptable. I just wonder, "Why did this come so easily with my first two, and now with my third, who you would think would be just as easy, this is an issue." I just hate spending the money on formula for one thing. The coupons are awesome- for all you moms who do formula feed or partially formula feed, be sure you are signed up with Enfamil, Good start and Similac...they send so many coupons, you would hardly have to pay full price for awhile. I signed up, and my best friend signed up too, so she would get extra coupons for me! (I didn't know she did this til she brought everything over). I also today got a $5 off Target brand formula. Molly doesn't seem to care which brand, so I am currently brand-hopping as to whatever I have the coupons for. :teeth:

Side topic...I need to go to Gymboree again. Look at these sandals. Don't we all think Molly *needs* them? :rotfl: and I have a 25% off coupon to boot. Me and my mom are going shopping tomorrow I think!

Yep, Molly NEEDS those sandels! How cute!!

Thanks for the advice, I might just have that drink!

Well, Tamie, I understand why you could go for a drink! I am not breastfeeding so I have no issue with that. I really want a strawberry daquiri and as soon as I can get one I will! ;)

I went to have my staples removed today and was a bit irritated with my dr. He told me when I was being discharged from the hospital to make sure I kept guaze pads over the incision until he removed the staples. I did everything he said to do. Today he tells me he never said that and that the guaze kept the incision too moist and he didn't want to remove the staples today b/c of it. So I am supposed to have them removed on Monday instead. Oh, well, better safe than sorry. I was just annoyed that he told me one thing and meant something else. I feel pretty good other than that. Oh, okay, I am a bit sleep deprived but I expected that so I feel good other than those 2 things. I still have swelling in my feet but it is finally starting to go down some. Have a great night everyone!

I don't drink, but I have many friends who were nursing momies how had the occasional one with out any problems.

Now I have to admit that I am very lucky that I enjoy breast feeding because I think formula is evil! I hate the stuff, the smell, the smell coming back up and coming out again. :earseek: It stains, all around yucky!

The funny thing is both of my kids never liked it either. DD #1 had some in the hospital becuase she had a very hard time nursing at 1st. It came right back up and she was very unhappy about it. Right then and there I decied I was going to pump for as long as it takes to make it work. It was at least 3 weeks until we were nursing well and we also had all the normal pitfalls (thrush, mastitis, bit marks etc.....) DD did start some formula around age 9 months. DD #2 still hates it. I gave her some in ceral and she also threw it all up. I figure I will just wait until 1 year when I can give her milk.

Now we just got back from WDW and I have details I left out of the trip report.

DD is getting new teeth and every time she does it takes her a while to ge the hang of sucking with out them getting in the way. While right before we left she sucked wrong and "bit" me, leaving a open sore. Oh my GOD did it hurt when I nursed on that side. I had brought some lanolish with me, but it didn't heal until I started putting neosporain on it. I had to wash it off before she nursed, but it helped! My God was that a pain, espcailly in puplic trying not to cry when she nursed! Thank God it healed.

Madison didn't like formula either. She had no trouble with it in the beginning, which was good cause that was most of what she ate for awhile, but then she didn't get any from about 3-6 months. When I started giving her cereal at 6 months I mixed it with formula and she gagged and vomited. I tried giving her formula bottles then too and she would gag, vomit, then refused to use a bottle for a long time after that. I guess it was cause I didn't use any past about 3 months.

You're right, Molly does need those sandals. And you've really made me want to go to Gymboree this weekend, what a cute collection!

Good morning.

Tamie, I had the same problems with Kona as far as constipation or what I thought was constipation. She's on a regular schedule now. I just wish I knew what was normal as far as color. :confused3 Green, yellow? Anyone have the answr? :)

I'm so glad I signed up with enfamil.com I just received another set of coupons in the mail today for formula. So far, I've received about $20 worth of coupons plus 2 free cans of formula.

Does anyone have a child on the AR Lipil. They sent me $5 in coupons for it. I can put them in the mail to anyone who wants them.

Kona goes for her month check up on Monday. I'm anxious to see how much she weighs. She was already 12 pounds at 19 days. She's so chunky.

Kona went to bed at 11 last night and slept until 6 am this morning.
:cheer2: I couldn't believe it. I'm so rested today.

I hope everyone is having fun with their new babies.
:flower:

Wow! I have a lot of catching up to do! :teeth:

Congratulations to the new mommies! I'm looking forward to reading all about your new little ones.

Only two more weeks of school left. I can't wait to be off of work for the summer!
:cheer2:

Well, I went to Gymboree. I got her the sandals and a matching little romper...I saw a TON more I want, but I will wait for some serious sales later this summer. I really need to NOT buy anything there unless it's at least 40% off. My mom bought her a little dress/romper for next summer in the pool party line. So cute. I need to buy her the firecracker romper for next summer when her Daddy is FINALLY HOME! :flower:

I have some unisex onesies I bought at Carter's that are really sweet and nice weight (not the thin cotton ones, but a thicker, softer cotton). I think they would be better for a boy now that I have them and when I compare to all the girl stuff I have, they just seem "Boy." Any new moms of boys here want some never been worn, washed once 3-6 month size onesies? I'm willing to part with them! I don't feel like messing with ebay right now...

I think part of the reason I am anxious with Molly about the nursing is that my second one, was a nursing MACHINE...he was incessantly hungry and I just nursed him ALL the time cause he would not take a bottle from me. He would tolerate it at the sitter's and take a bottle there, but no way jose from me. So I think going from a child who was SUPER nurser and never gave me a break, to a good nurser but who is also just as happy with a bottle is odd for me.

Fonfon---I hope baby makes her arrival soon!! :cheer2:

I used to beg my son to come out, too. I was so tired of being pregnant at the end, I would have loved him to arrive a little sooner than he did.

I, too, can't wait until this school year is over. Even though I missed nine weeks, I still feel like this is the year that wouldn't end. I just want to stay home with Jimmy and have some fun. Sleeping longer is also at the top of my "to do list".

Lily came a week early, I felt like I was "getting away with something." ;) I had started actually losseing wait and my dr said it was time, she scraped the membrane and less then 24 hours later she was born (the same thing happened with my 1st DD but that was on my due date.)

We gave her the middle name grace because she was facing the wrong way, and with one push she righted herself. I thought that was pretty graceful. :goodvibes

I think it is all part of the plan. If you didn't get so gosh darn misserlble during the last weeks of pregnany you wouldn't really want to go into labor. But your body is so far from your body less then a year ago that you would do ANYTHING to get the baby out. (and the bonus is you get the baby in the end. )

Good luck, we will all be rooting for you. Remember the hard part actually starts after the baby is born, but I am sure you are up for it and you sound prepared!!! :cheer2: :cheer2:

We're back from Kona's one month check up.

She weighs 14 1/2 pounds. :earseek: She's my little chubster.

They also gave me tons of free formula. I should have known since I went to Publix last night and bought 24 cans at $6 a can.

It's a beautiful day here in Florida. It was already 87 when we were headed for the Dr.'s office.

Have a great day! :sunny:
