lissawynn - Glad you got the news you wanted. :) Also glad to hear your friend Jennifer is doing well.

vald - Lucas is definitely a drooler. Soaks through about 4 bibs a day. He's been drooling for months now, but not a sign of a tooth. I hope that doesn't mean the same for Katie. I'm doing 2-3 loads of just his laundry each week.

joats - I'm sorry I don't have any advice for you. I hope the overnights work. I've never seen the inside of a diaper and honestly, I hope I never do. :rotfl:

ahutton - Happy 1st birthday to Michael!

justhat - Great Disney pictures! Madison looks so cute in her mouse ears.

Alice28 - I hope that stone passes SOON! Good luck!

Hi to everyone and I hope you all have a great weekend! We have no plans but I do hope to get out to a few more stores in my quest for a winter coat. Kohl's and Baby Gap are on the list as I've already tried Filene's, Gymboree, Old Navy, Target, Marshall's, and TJ Maxx. Wish me luck! LOL.

Lissawynn, congrats on your negative result! It's funny, cause before I tested last month I had myself so convinced that I was pregnant that I really felt like I would have been sad had the test been negative, even though I would have sorta preferred it to be that way. You reminded me by saying you would have been happy if you were pregnant cause it is just so weird how emotions work.

Joats, we had Madison's vision tested twice already and she should go back actually after her 2nd birthday. The first time she was about a month old and the 2nd time she was 4.5 months old. This is sorta long, but the reason we had to do it was that when she was about a month old she got what looked like pinkeye (which I get a lot so I was pretty sure that was it), but it was a Friday night so we couldn't take her to the dr. We called up and the resident on call called in an antibiotic eye ointment and told us to use that and take her in Monday if we wanted to. So Monday I had to go to my OB for my 6 week checkup (which I had to do a week or so early) and so I stopped by her ped's office since it's across the street. The nurse practitioner looked at her eye then started asking me if we have a family history of eye disorders. I told her that my niece was born with 2 congenital eye defects (coloboma and microphthalmia, which made her blind in that eye, both in the right eye, and last summer when she was 2 she had to have the eye removed and a prosthetic put in) and then she looked at her eyes again, then said she needed a dr to look at them. After the dr came in, she asked about the eye disorders again and then told me that Madison's fundi were different colors, one was paler than the other, and that I needed to take her to a pediatric ophthalmologist immediately. She handed me her phone and said "if they can't get you in by noon tomorrow, I'll call them back myself." So she got an appt (for the next morning no less so that I could spend 24 hours freaking out), but the dr would not say what she thought was wrong. Well anyway, the eye drs (3 of them) looked at her eyes-they dilated her pupils and I held her really still and they looked at her eyes and used the way it refracted to tell me that other than being a little more far-sighted than most babies she was fine. Apparently, her peds thought that she might have had a tumor behind the darker, less pale fundus which is why they said to rush her in. I'm glad that they didn't tell me that and just kept avoiding the issue. Well the eye dr thought she might have had a blocked tear duct which caused the pinkeye (which also can cause slight discoloration in the fundi) so we had to take her back in at 4 months and they tested her vision again then just to check on the far-sightedness. They said almost all babies are far-sighted, but she was more so than most at 4 weeks so they wanted to monitor that. She was okay again at 4 months so they said take her back when she's 2 so I guess I should make that appt soon. My husband and I both wear glasses (and so does his whole family) so if she has eye problems it won't be a huge shock to me, but so far they think her vision is repairing itself.

Sorry that was so long, lately everything I say seems to be very wordy. Overall, it was a painless procedure both times. The only thing that was hard was getting the 2nd drop in after she learned what they were going to do cause she didn't love that, plus it was very sunny both days so it was hard to keep her away from light after her pupils were dilated. They gave her adorable sunglasses though and if I can find a photo I'll post it. Good look with Jace's eye appointment though, I know it's always harder for the mom to watch than for the kid so keep that in mind. Did his dr recommend you take him to an eye dr, or are you just taking him on your own?

Oh, Madison has had those diaper crystals on her a few times, right around the same age as Jace too. She's pee through her diaper almost every night for a few weeks and then she went back to normal. I moved her to the next size diaper thinking it would help like it had when she was smaller but they were too big in the waist and so they'd leak too.

Madison was also a very drooly baby from about 6 weeks till 10 months or so. She didn't get any teeth till she turned 10 months so for us it wasn't really a sign that teeth were on the way. We constantly went through bibs and outfits too. The worst was the way she'd drool all over the Baby Bjorn to the point that it was soaked and the wetness would spread all the way through to her outfit. I tried to keep a pacifier in her mouth cause that seemed to help, but even with that she still drolled everywhere.

SL, a friend got Madison a winter coat last year (one of those suits with hands, feet, and a hood attached) and she got it at Macy's. It was a little big but I couldn't find one anywhere else so I just used it (it was 12 months and she was more in the 6-9 month size). When she was born I got a supercute winter coat/suit from the Disney Store, but I'm not sure if they still carry them. It was pink (they also had blue) and had little pooh ears on top.

Thanks for the info about the thank you notes. I'll let my husband know he was right (1st time for him!!). He insisted on asking her teacher if she got the card cause since they were giftcards he was gonna call up and try to cancel them if they were lost or stolen. I still felt bad that he asked her though cause he said she was embarrassed (I wasn't there cause I was talking to a friend who has just become a postpartum doula cause I'd love to have her come help out when the new baby comes since I know we won't have family here for more than a couple of days and my husband won't really take any time off).

Tamie, here's the link to the thread about the "Tips for under 1 at Disney". I think a lot of people here can get some use out of it:

http://www.disboards.com/showthread.php?t=718912

On a wonderful note, Liam slept from 7:30 - 2:30 last night - ate - and went back to sleep until 6 am.....!!! :teeth: . We did nothing different except putting him in 1/2 hour EARLIER to bed. Go figure!

YAY Liam and Hillary! That is great....Cam was up at 5:45am today and I tried my best to get her to go back to sleep to no avail. The night before last we put her to sleep at 8pm, she woke at 11pm, DH fed her, she woke at 3am but DH just went and gave her the paci and she fell back asleep until 6:30am. I thought that was good...but Liam is doing much better! ::yes::

Hillbeans--great news on the sleep. Matthew slept from 9-2 last night, got up to feed, slept until 6, fed, and is back asleep now. DD didn't sleep well until she was around 6 month old. So having a 2 month old sleep 5-6 hrs at a pop is a god send.

DD was definitely a drooler. She got the the point where she had a reaction to all the drool on her neck and chin. We ended up having to get a prescription cream to clear it up. Yuck! I thought for the longest time it must be teething, but her first tooth didn't appear until after her 1st b-day. So she just liked to drool.

I understand about the diaper thing too! The crystals on the bum are called SAM (superabsorbent material) DH works for the corp that makes Huggies. I tried overnights and they didn't seemt to help with DD much. I ended up just going to a larger size diaper and change her immediately before bedtime and right after she got up.

Alice28--thoughts and prayers for you. :grouphug: I've never had a kidney stone, but I her the pain is comparable to childbirth :scared1: . And to have this happen so close to DH's return. I hope you're feeling better.

DD was up last night a lot coughing again. Luckily, DH got up with her. I'm off to Target today to find a new humidifier for her room and to see what clearance stuff they've got. SL good luck with the coat hunt. I found a great one on clearance for DD last winter at Kohl's. Too bad he's not a girl, I've got lots of winter stuff Emma never even wore! We're having our "special" anniversary dinner tonight--will let you know how it turns out!

Congrats to your babies for sleeping better! Must have been a more restful night for everyone. I know this will sound ridiculous cause she's almost 2, but Madison slept all night in her own bed last night. The reason that is a big deal is that she spent 2 weeks sleeping with us at my mom's house and then in WDW so when we got back home she was a nightmare. She'd sleep in her bed then want to climb into ours and she would typically win cause she'd just wait till we went to sleep then she'd climb in and we'd leave her there. But last night she finally got back to sleeping in her own bed all night again. It took her 19 months to get to that point so I wasn't too willing to let it slide too long!

 Yay for all the babies doing well sleeping! And Justthat, I think I have told you my DS was the same way as Madison so I know how big a deal it is to get them in their own bed :) .

SL,
Have you tried Sears? They had a lot of winter stuff left last time I was there. Good luck!

Nucpharm,
I hope you have a lovely dinner with your DH. Happy Anniversary :flower: !

Robin,
I hope you are feeling better this morning.

I forgot to mention yesterday that my DH didn't go for his vas. test yesterday. He came home feeling sick from work so now he is going on Monday. The suspense is killing me :) . I guess it's kinda like waiting to take a pg test but in reverse ;) .

I'm glad to hear I'm not the only one with a little drooler. Katrina sometimes gets a bit of a rash also but I think it's from the wetness because once I dry her up it seems to go away.

We have no plans this weekend other than going to the grocery store. I'll be glad to just have some relaxing time.

Talk to you all later.

Good morning! Another crappy night of sleep here. Jimmy just refuses to sleep in his crib. I tried the crying it out last night and he was a mess. It's as if he gets frantic and feels abandoned or something. I don't know what we're going to do. At least it's Saturday.

Alice28 - I hope you passed your stone and are well. I am so glad your DH is going to be home soon! Keep us posted on how you're doing. Btw, DH is going to look for a work car this morning. I told him I wouldn't have a problem if he wanted to trade in my Tahoe, buy himself a new car, and get me a Tribeca. He wasn't amused. He politely informed me that the payment for the Tribeca would amount to almost what we pay for the Tahoe. I'm still hoping I can get myself in one sometime soon. We'll see.

DisKim - It's nice Aidan had a good time at Chuck E. Cheese. If I can manage it, Jimmy will never know such a place exists. There isn't one close to us, so I don't think many kids around here have parties there.

justthat - I always send thank you notes if I receive a gift from a student.

Tamie - Taking Jimmy to WDW at 6 months was a breeze. I would have loved to have DH there, but we managed w/o him. He didn't mind being in the stroller at all. I have a Mac, and I bought the extra sun shade from BRU. I couldn't find a stroller fan, but I did have a water bottle/fan and squirted him a lot. I also took a clean washcloth with us and moppe him off during the day. For all of our meals, he sat on my lap or in the stroller. He pretty much slept through our 3 hour dinner at CG. He wasn't sturdy enough for a high chair at that time. He was probably the best traveller in our group. He didn't even mind the car ride from PA to FL.

That said, considering my test results, we're probably going to go ahead and book a trip for August. It would be me, Jimmy, my older sis, her son, and our dad. He's never been there before. We're going to stay at WL (our fav) and probably add on the dining plan. I'm really excited to have my dad see the boys at WDW. He doesn't really 'get' WDW. I think once he sees it, he'll really love it.

I've gotta get moving! I have a ton of stuff to do at my house!

Nephew James in his double stroller. The best money spent the whole trip.

Washcloth boy cooling off in his stroller. My kid is fascinated with his toes.

Lissawynn -LOL! I love those pictures. That's Disney reality!!

Tamie - I think you will be fine with the baby. I took Aidan at 4 months and it was pretty terrible. We still had fun, but I ended up by myself alot with him and DH had all the fun with the older two. We took my middle son at 10 months and it was the best trip ever! He is 5 now and all of our subsequent trips have been fun but nothing compares to that trip when Alex was a baby.

I'm taking a quick break from taking down Christmas decorations. I just feel like throwing it all out. We just have way too much. I'm actuallly going out on a date with DH tonight . It has been way too long. Tomorrow, we are getting a portrait taken with DH's side of the family for his mothers 70th birthday gift. Somehow, I end up being the one who has to organize it (the one who works and has three kids - go figure). I've been ready to strangle my SIL. She never responds to my e-mails about the day and time. She didn't like my idea of wearing jeans and white shirts. She wants every family to wear a different color. Yeah, I have time to go match shirts for 5 people now. I think by the time they take this picture tomorrow, my hands are going to be around her throat! Ah yes, family bliss. I have to see DH's family every weekend for something for the next three weeks. It's like torture. They're all nuts. The only normal ones are his parents. Oh oh, here comes DH. Gotta go!

Alice28: I hope you are feeling better soon! Good luck at the hospital. You need to get better as DH will be here soon!!!
Val,SL & Bellacam: When the drool got to the point that Jace was going thru numerous bibs a day I think in the next few weeks his teeth came in. It won't be long now!
SL: I hope you can find a coat. Luckily, my friend gave me a few as backups incase his get too small before the end of season.
Justhat: Thanks for the eye exam and diaper crystal info. My Drs office makes vision check up standard beginning 6mos.
Hillbeans: I have another Stop&Shop Enfamil coupon I'll mail out to you today.
Nucpharm: I can't believe there is a name for that diaper stuff. LOL!! Thanks for the info.
Lissawyn: love the new pics
Zalansky: Glad to hear Cam is sleeping better.
Hope I didn't miss anyone.

Jace 1, Huggies Overnights 0!! He wet thru these too. Poor thing. I think it's just that he can be asleep for 11-12 hours (yes, I am so spoiled that he's a sleeper). I just don't think a diaper can hold that much as he's eating and drinking so much more these days. Thanks for all the suggestions. I am going to also try putting in a liner (someone told me they sell them at stop and shop) overnight.

Headed out to Carters to see if I can find some pjs as Jace's pjs have 3/4 length sleeves at this point :) . Then we will head to my mom's house. My stepbrother and his girlfriend are here from CA and they have not met Jace yet. I can't wait to see them...it's been a year since our last visit.
Have a good day everyone. I hope to check in again later.

Lisawynn,
Those pictures make me want to get back to WDW so badly! Jimmy looks just like my Katie with the feet. I sat her in her bouncy seat earlier and went to the bathroom for a minute and when I came back she had her socks of and the toesies in the air waving around. She was also gnawing on one of the socks :teeth: .

Diskim,
Enjoy your date with DH tonight. I hope the picture taking goes smoothly. Remember that episode of Everybody Loves Raymond where they go to get the family portrait done? Too funny.

Joats,
I hope the liners work out. Good luck finding him some new pj's.

Question for those with girls--
Have any of you gotten your babies ears pierced? I always said I would wait until she was around ten to do it but lately I've been reconsidering. One of my friends had her daughter's done at 10 weeks and she just looks so darling with them. Also MIL really wants to get Katie diamond earrings. Just wondering if anyone has any experience with it.

SL - are you looking for a coat or a one piece snow suit? You probably posted this but I didn't see it. I ask because I have three 6-9 mos snow suits (2 never used) and obviously don't need them. If you're interested, let me know.

Val, I thought about getting Madison's ears pierced when a friend got her baby's done, but then I decided against it. Basically my only reasoning was that it would be 1 more thing that I'd have to take care of in addition to regular baby stuff and I didn't think I needed anymore responsibility. I originally thought I'd do it around 5yo cause that's how old I was, but now I think that if she doesn't ask about it at 5 then I'll wait longer. Again, only cause I don't want to worry about keeping them clean, and more importantly in her ears as I know right now she'd be working on ripping them out at every chance. I think they look really cute though in little girls.

Thanks for your offer, but I am looking for a coat. :goodvibes I have a snowsuit for him but I'm finding it impractical for everyday use so I thought a regular coat would be easier. So far, no luck. But I appreciate you thinking about me!

lissawynn - great pics! I can't wait until our next trip.

joats - Good luck with the diaper situation tonight. Sorry the overnights didn't work out.

nucpharm - Hope your anniversary dinner goes great!

DisKim - Good luck with your portrait.

vald - I hope you enjoy your nice relaxing weekend!

justhat - Glad Madison is doing well back in her own bed.

Hillbeans - Congrats to Liam on a good sleep!

SL: Sorry to hear you didn't have any luck with a coat. What about LL Bean online? My grandmother got Jace's snow suit there, but I think they had coats too. His coat came from Baby Gap, but I think you tried or were going to try there.
Val: My niece had her ears pierced by 3 months of age. It made me nervous, but as far as I know she did not have any problems with them. She only wears studs so she can't pull them out (she's 5 1/2 now).

I found 1 pair of not really pajamas that I'll be using as pjs for Jace at Carters. Apparently, their fleece pajamas don't come in a 9 month size. They have 6 mos that ranges up to 16.5 pounds and then NOTHING until size 12 mos that starts at 20.5 pounds. And of course, he's smack dab in between those two sizes. Very odd, but this is what the store tells me.

We tried Jace on chicken with chicken broth tonight - his first "meat". I kid you not, he gaged and vomitted from the first bite. The bad Mommy that I am (LOL!) I tried another thinking maybe he swallowed wrong and yup, he vomitted again. I'm not sure if it was the texture (it seemed pretty thick) or the smell (worse than my cats food) but he will not be getting chicken baby food again anytime soon. Poor buddy. He has such limited foods as he is allergic to everything. I was hoping to give him a little protein.

Looks like we will wait on the car seats another week. My uncle has mailed out a surprise BRU gift card for them and he thought it would be here by now for me to use this weekend. Unfortunately it didn't come yet - so next week it is. What a nice surprise!!

Tonight we will be trying a size 4 diaper to see if a bigger one makes a difference as we were unable to get to the store for the liners today. My SIL gave me one of my nephew's to try at our family gathering today (which was fun).

DH just went to pick up Mexican take out. I'm so excited - it's my favorite and it's been way too long.

Hope you are all having a nice weekend!

Evening, everyone! DH just went out to get some microwave popcorn. The stuff I bought at Wal-Mart won't pop. I'm taking the rest back to the store.

My sister and I are planning our summer trip to WDW. Can you believe that I forgot DH's sister was getting married on 8/5? We're going to have to take our trip a week earlier than we thought.

Question...What do you think would be must do meals for our dad's first trip. We've decided on Cali. Grill, CRT, and CP. I need your opinions. It's been 23 years since our first trip to WDW, and we're kind of jaded. What would you do or have you done when travelling to the parks with a first-timer?

Jimmy is playing in his pack n play. I should be taking down the tree, but I just don't feel like doing it.

I just had to come on to share this story about my friend. This is the friend who has a 1yo son and is expecting #2 in June that she is 100% positive is a girl, that I told should wait at least another year to have another kid cause she didn't know she was pregnant when she asked me about the spacing. Also the friend who I have mentioned is the 'parenting expert' even though she's just got the 1 kid and does so many things that most parents wouldn't even consider. Okay, so I called her to see if she's back in DC yet and if she wants to get together next week and she said she's still in NJ but coming back tomorrow. Then she'll be here for a week and next Sunday her mother is driving down to DC to pick up her son and her dog and take them back to NJ. After her ultrasound on Wednesday morning and they tell her the baby is a girl (yeah, okay) then she is driving back to NJ to stay with her parents and then in a week or so she'll drive back to DC.

Now here is why this is funny to me. Since November, she was in NJ at her parents house for 3 weeks, then in DC for 6 days, back in NJ till 12/18, then in Indiana till 1/4 (visiting MIL), now she's back in NJ. She and her husband are both unemployed (by choice not misfortune, she quit her job when she was pregnant and he quit his this past August) but apparently they can only handle watching their 1yo kid alone for a week at a time max. Though she's basically been like this since her son was born last December, I honestly believe part of it now is that she's so convinced that she's having a girl that she's "done" with her son. She complains all the time about how she's going to be a MIL one day and I already have a daughter so I don't have any worries, etc. She is also convinced that my baby will be a boy so that I'll know "what she has to go through". Like baby boys are diseases or something. Ugh, okay, my rant is over, I just couldn't get over our conversation.

Justthat - I was just on reading posts and was not going to post myself because I am sooooo tired and heading to bed, but I had to say that I am going to say silent prayers that your friend has another boy! I feel bad for her son she has now. I also have a question, how do they afford their bills if neither of them works, and how does she afford to travel? :scratchin

I like the new smilies by the way. Ok, off to bed. Goodnight everyone.

I too was going to get ready for bed since I'm very tired tonight, but just had to check my e-mail first! We wonder how they pay their bills too. Because they're not employed, they no longer have health insurance, so they're paying $900/month for Cobra. On top of that, their rent is about $1200/month and they have to move to a 3 bedroom apt now cause their son and "daughter" can't share a bedroom so they'll be paying at least $1500/month I'm sure. They don't really say how they get all their money, but clearly their parents must be kicking in a lot. She substitute teaches technically, but in the past year she's only worked twice so I don't really count that. I too am praying they have another boy cause I can only imagine how they'll shove their little guy aside if it's a girl. But then I think, maybe that will make her have another baby in a year and then both boys will be dumped if it's a girl. Ugh, some people!
