Bridget, I've seen those seats, but not till Madison was old enough to not need one. We actually didnt' really have a big problem with not using the infant carrier cause she didn't switch to a bigger carseat till she was 10 months old and was sitting in highchairs by then. But sometimes she was asleep, so what we did was keep the infant carrier in the car with us and transfer her to that and take it into restaurants/friends houses so she could stay asleep.
Valerie, it's always nice to hear from someone else that their kid had weird sleeping quirks too. Sometimes I think my daughter is just weird when it comes to sleep! She was a perfect sleeper till 4.5 months-she'd go in her own bed awake and put herself to sleep and then sleep all night (or sometimes wake once to feed) but then then at 4.5 months it went downhill. We let her sleep in our bed cause it was the only way she'd get any sleep. Then we got her a toddler bed around 13 months. She'd sleep in that, but wake up during the night and would not go back to sleep till you went to her bed to 'help' her. After a couple months of that I thought I would go insane cause I was basically falling asleep sitting next to her bed in the middle of the night. I decided I was done with that and she could just walk around my room and find a place to sleep when she woke up during the night. The first night I did it she was a little annoyed that I wouldn't let her climb into my bed, but then laid down on the floor and fell asleep. This was about 3 months ago and she has been sleeping on the floor next to my bed ever since. Like you, I've heard strage comments about it, but we all sleep much better so that's where she's staying if that's what she wants! Last night she sorta woke up once, cried a little, but went back to sleep (usually she searches for my hand and holds my finger), which means a much more rested mommy in the morning! I'm hoping she'll move to her own bed when she's ready without a fight like your son did.
