Good afternoon all! I only have a second because Luke is awake and fussy--he was up half the night, the least he could do is sleep during the day!

Happy Birthday, Tamie! Have a great birthday trip to WDW! My only recommendation on MGM is, DON'T eat at the ABC Commissary! This was truly awful when we were there in August. Maybe Backlot Express or Toy Story Pizza Planet? The rest of your itinerary sounds fun--plenty to do, but not too packed, which is the best way to go with a toddler. You never know what's going to catch their fancy.

Gems--We can so relate to the "parental help" only going to one sibling--DH's mother bought his brother a house--a HOUSE! because he lost his in foreclosure (which should be a clue as to how good he is with money...). She bought the new one outright. And what does he do? Runs out and gets a home equity loan to put in a pool, because we have one! But to hear MIL tell it, DBIL is the smart one, I'm married to the dumb jock (with a master's degree amd no bankruptcies or foreclosures to his credit!). But I think there's a strong sense of MIL wanting his life to be better, because she feels it's a reflection of her parenting.

Hillary--that's scary about the light. Good thing nobody was hurt.

Kim--I so know what you mean on the "campaigning" from DD. Jocelyn desperately wanted an MP3 player--I was going to wait for Christmas, but she made a good argument for getting before the play, so she can use it during her time backstage. But, I had told her no way, and I had the poor kid in tears several times, just thinking about how bad she wanted it. I felt so bad, but I wanted her to be a smart consumer and do some research, which she did, before just picking the pink one. Maybe you can tell your DD that a puppy would be so much easier in the spring, when it could go outside more, you know--string her along. But then again, I'm mean. Great new on DH's raise, too.

Robin--I'll have to remember that the MK funnel cakes are cheaper. I wish I was going sooner--I could do a whole study of MK vs. Boardwalk vs. Epcot, who has the best one and the cheapest, etc. I know at the Boardwalk, you can get them with ice cream. You know, the research alone could take weeks, maybe I can find a government grant to fund this....

Oh, you mentioned bugs--out here, we get rodents invading every winter. Not a real surprise, it's the country, a 200 year old house, but still, yuck! The cats catch a couple, but for some reason, it's been bad this year. So, DH has been on this campaign with traps (the spring loaded kind). So far, my great hunter-gatherer has nabbed 13! Which is good that they're gone, but how gross!

Okay, I've ignored Luke long enough. "Hi" to everyone else. Do we know when justthat is getting back? I'm dying to hear how her trip went.

Hello!

HAPPY BIRTHDAY TAMIE!!!!!! :cheer2: :bday:

Carson is asleep in the carseat - WHY WON"T THAT BOY SLEEP DURING THE DAY FOR MORE THAN 15 MINUTES AT A TIME????? It is starting to mess up his night sleeps too, I think, as he is way "over tired" and can't settle. Luckily for us he's such a sweetie most of the time - if he was a screamer we'd be REALLY crazy!

DH goes to Atlanta for the interview tomorrow - more pixie dust and prayers, please. While I'm not looking forward to trying to keep a showable house with a 3-month-old around, I so want this to work out for us.

Diskim - is tomorrow night the "Christmas Spectacular?" Yay for DH's raise!! Too cute about Emily working for that puppy - what a wonderful Christmas she will have!

B&B - You are so nice to get Jocelyn the MP3 player! Hayley is getting an ipod for Christmas - now I just have to come up with a bunch of little tiny things for her other presents!

nucpharm - hope the big boy's appointment goes well!

tykes - your itenerary sounds so exciting! Tyler will have so much fun! Happy Birthday again!

fab - hope your computer troubles are almost over!

floridafam - What fun to have DH home so much during the holidays - my DH usually takes alot of time off then too, and we love it...especially since we're up here all alone with no family around.

sl - hope the work project gets wrapped up so you can Dis!

robin - have fun vacuuming the furniture - not a bad idea for me to do that myself. Enjoy your doritos!

hillbeans - Ohmigosh - how scary about the light! I'm so glad noone was in there!!

lissawynn - yikes about the rain - hope you're not getting too much!

Gems - Yay for your scheduled c-section! Sorry about your mean in-laws...I'm very lucky in that department. So what yummy things did you find for lunch??

Well, the boy is calling - may be hungry. I always forget what time I fed him! Have a great day!!

thanks for all the kind words everyone, I agree that they are making things worse by helping him the way they are but DH is just so laid back that he doesn't let it worry him. I could scream sometimes with the things they tell me but I have to sit there with my lip bitten!

Lunch was nice I had a club sandwich and fries and a HUGE coke with lots of ice!!

HAPPY BIRTHDAY TAMIE!!

Kim YAY on the raise! That is such good news!

Happy Birthday, Tamie! :bday:
We always stop at the Character outlets. There are some great deals there. Have a great trip!

Gotta go and jump in the shower before Jenna wakes up. We will be going grocery shopping and to the PO to mail out our exchange package!

I'll be back tonight!

Hi gals. I have to leave soon, but I thought I'd pop in for a quick post. As of this morning, the house was still covered and dry. I'm going home to check before heading to my drs appointment. I tried to reschedule b/c I'm exhausted and don't want to drive in the rain, but they have nothing available until Thanksgiving week (and I already have an appointment for the week after Thanksgiving).

I know I will get nothing accomplished tonight and can only hope Jimmy is in good spirits when I pick him up at my dad's.

I hope you're all well and have a good night!

ETA - Can someone please post the date to mail our exchange packages? I can't seem to remember what it is.

Guess what I am eating right now? And they are darn yummy.

Gems- your Coke with lots of ice sounds good. But, alas, I have none and no going back to the store for me! My DH is really laid back about his brother too, and I admire that. I mean, like I said, my BIL is learning disabled and will never be able to have a well-paying job. He is happy he has his job at Target and gets his medical bennies- heck, that's more than a lot of people get. But when I think of the years they lived in that house paying rent for 25% of what the house is worth, for all the stuff MIL has done for their house, the cars, etc., it just floors me ONLY that when we asked for $1,000 some years back, we got a lecture. And did I ever tell you guys one of my FAVORITE MIL comments of all time? She paid for our Pergo to be put in, oh, about 4 years ago I guess (after she did something similar for BIL). And when she came up and saw it she said, and I quote, "Well, at least if you and Robin get a divorce, I know you will get money out of the house for having nice flooring." WHAT THE HELL? I was so offended, and DH totally yelled at her for that one. My MIL is the type where if one couple she knows is having problems, or because she had problems with my FIL, why then, *Everyone* else must have those same sort of problems. DH and I had our issues in the past, but we have had a rock solid marriage the last 6+ years and for her to say that was so rude. It's like she cannot accept that one of her sons is actually happy and content in his marriage, because at this point in her life, she was not.

OK, rant off.

So far I have vacuumed out the chair and behind the TV. I was grossed out by the chair. From now on, my children may not eat ANYTHING in the living room anymore. Here is a prime example of my lovely parenting skills- I found the bottom of a DRUMSTICK ICE CREAM CONE in the freaking chair!!!!!! We last had those in the house, oh, in AUGUST!?!!?!?!?!!? Maybe July!!!!!!!! I was so icked out, not to mention the 10 ounces of cracker crumbs, toys, little gummies all stickied together. Sick, sick SICK. And besides the fact that my children left the ice cream cone bottom in the chair, I really feel discouraged as a parent, because WHO DOESN'T EAT THE BOTTOM OF A DRUMSTICK?!?!?! It's the best part! :rotfl2:

Now I just have our nasty couch to clean. I so want a new sofa. I'm hoping we'll have a bit of money leftover after our remodel to get a new one. We'll kind of have to, since I plan on that sofa going to the basement to be the rec room sofa.

Kim- CONGRATS to your DH on the raise! That's great! :cheer2: Here's hoping that our child tax credits stay in place!

Diz- P and PD to your DH and his interview in Atlanta. Hope it all works out! :wizard:

Nuc- hope the appt. goes well with Matthew!

Tamie- GREAT plans! I've wanted to try Beaches and Cream our last 4 trips, but it never works out. Is it super yummy like everyone says? Maybe we can go next time, as there are several meals that are still up in the air for us.

Regarding Justine- was this the trip her DH kept adding days to? I can't remember when they will be home. Hope she is having fun and that hopefully her DH is giving her a break from the kids for some rest time for her too.

Dive for cover, i have another political comment- WHY didn't Bush ask Rumsfeld to step down months ago? WHY!? I am so angry right now- DH called me about it minutes before the news came out with it (I guess he got a heads up somehow) and I was just pi$$ed. Rumsfeld has been kind of screwing up with Iraq for a long time now; DH has been saying that since he was there. Maybe if we got a new Sec of Defense sometime ago, a lot would have been different yesterday. And for soldier's lives and families in Iraq. I'm not saying we would be leaving any sooner, but I am saying more troops would have been over there a long time ago to GET THE JOB DONE RIGHT. I'm just really discouraged. I supposed it's just politics as usual, but as someone who felt very personally about the war in Iraq, and put my faith in our President, I just feel like the crap of politics gets in the way of things getting done RIGHT. UGh.

OK, like Fab I smell a pooey and don't turn green with envy or anything. ;)

Just got back from the mall(s) and put some things on hold at Gymboree for tomorrow. Just a few. Love that football line for boys! ;)

Lissa - I need the date for the exchange also, I was looking today as a matter of fact and came up empty so I hope we have plently of time left!

dizagain - pixie dust coming your way. :wizard: Atlanta is another area I would consider moving to as I've seen the homes we could get on Realtor.com for $250k. I mentioned it to 2 of my friends and they thought I was nuts to want to move there. Don't know why. :confused3

diskim - :cheer2: on the raise! And I know everyone's take on staying home is VASTLY different, but if you're enjoying your job do stay. Being home, IMO, is not everything it is cracked up to be and you have the best of both worlds because you have so much time off. My best friend took this year off teaching 1st grade in NY so she could stay home for a year with her two kids. I warned her not to because she is just like me....and she loved the first few weeks but now regrets staying home and wishes she'd gone back. Again I know everyone is different, so I am speaking only for myself. I just get very lonely most days and I miss working.

FF - glad you're on the mend. I think I am too, but am going back to the doctor tomorrow afternoon anyway. I can't shake this hacking cough and sinus issue. As for Ellenton, it takes us about 45 minutes to get there from where we are in Tampa. Since you'd be going over the Skyway from Clearwater it might be faster, I am not sure. I think it would still be at least 30 minutes if not more. It may be out of your way too in the grand scheme of things. Plus, I have to say, I like the Orlando outlets better. They have most all the same stores but better selection. Funny you should mention Crocs again!....

I got Cameryn's Airwalks today from Payless and OMG they are flipping adorable!!! And yes, they stay on her feet when she walks. Hopefully she'll keep them on. And the Jibbitz fit in Airwalks too!!! I thik someone here mentioned theirs were Airwalks...but at any rate the Jibbitz work great in them.

Oops, phone ringing. Be back later. :p

Mommies,

I forgot it was DS's teacher's Birthday today. It's too late to go out and pick up a little something. Any ideas?? Any good websites where I could send her a gift certificate or something through her e-mail??????

Aaaack! November 15th?? I'd better get shopping!

J&D - forgot to say hi! thanks for the exchange answer!

floridafam - the only website I usually send gc's from is Amazon. You are sweet to do that for DS's teacher!!!

zalansky - (and all the other Gymbo fans) - haven't shopped there since Hannah outgrew their clothes...can you use the discount on sale stuff? I'm hoping so. I also miss working my perfect part-time teaching job although I'm thrilled to be home with Carson - I miss my adult contact!

lissawynn - glad you're still dry so far - hope Jimmy is nice for you tonight!

Ok - gotta go - Carson's bored. If he would just sleep maybe he wouldn't realize he's not being entertained!!! I just called DH and told him I don't feel so hot (cold coming on, I think) and that I just "can't" cook tonight...I always feel guilty since I'm home. He, of course, doesn't care at all, it's just me. Anyway, since I hate cooking on a good day, I'm feeling better already to have that off of my shoulders! Frozen pizza sounds pretty good! And don't forget DH will be gone the next two evenings so I'm thinking Wendy's one night and good old grilled cheese and soup!!!

Double Aaaccckkkk!!! I better get shopping too. HOLY COW!

dizagain - Yes, you get 30% off everything in the store! They take 30% off your entire purchase. :thumbsup2

Hey, everyone! I have been incredibly busy with school and other obligations lately so I haven't had time to jump on here till now. I actually only have a few min. right now too since Kylie doesn't want me on here to begin with. I am so far behind on this thread that there is just no way for me to catch up so I do apologize for that.

Happy b-day to Matthew and Tamie!!! :)

Have a great time on your trip, Tamie! I also thought the ABC Commissary was pretty bad and would skip eating there.

I bought my person's Christmas exchange package this weekend but I haven't found the right sized box to mail it in so I won't be sending it just yet. I will PM Gems when I do.

Kylie had her 18 month check up today. She is 31" long and 20 lbs 12 oz and her head circumference is 46 cm. She is in the 25th percentile for height, the 5th for weight, and around the 30th or so for her head circumference. She has LOST 2 oz since her 15 month check up! Her dr. wasn't overly concerned just yet since Kylie does seem really healthy and active but we do have to go back in 2 months for a weight check. If she still isn't gaining (or worse- starts losing!) then we will have to run tests to make sure there isn't an underlying cause for it. I really don't think there is anything wrong with her. She isn't a very good eater and she is extremely active which I think has a lot to do with it. She is also on the petite side just like Scott's mom and my sister so genetics could play a factor here as well. The dr. seems to think the same which is a relief. She gave me some really good tips that I plan to try to see if I can get Kylie to not only eat more but to try more foods. Hopefully this will work because I really don't want to have to do the tests if we can help it!

Anyway, I need to go. Only 4.5 weeks until school is out for the semester!!! I am counting it down daily! I miss you gals and hope to catch up more while I am on my Christmas break. I get nearly a month off so that will be nice!

ACK! For real!?!? I forgot it was so darn soon! I do have one thing bought, but need more.

FF- I meant to say that hurrah for your DH getting so much time off at the holidays! That's super!

Z- so what did you put on hold at Gymbo? The store I am going to shop at tomorrow is across town, so I'm not doing my holds today. My mall is all torn up- the parking is just atrocious, and I don't feel like dealing with it two days in a row. Anyway, the store I am going to is the most busy one here in Portland- I hope it's not too much of a zoo and that I can find what I want still.

And I agree with you Z (to Kim)- Kim, if you are feeling good about your job, STAY. While being at home with the kids makes things like schedules a lot easier, I am bored out of my skull more often than not. That's why I am here so much! :rolleyes1 I do try and appreciate it, and relish the small times with my kids, but I do miss going out, talking with adults, making a little money, using my skills in one way or another. Although, on the other hand, I don't miss farty kids and their parents, and requesting days off, etc.

Hello.

Tamie - Happy birthday to you, I hope you have a great year filled with happiness and prosperity!

Tasha - Kylie sounds like such a little peanut! Glad her appointment went well.

SL - Glad Luke's appt. went well too!

Bellacam - HOpe you are hanging in there today and that dh is able to help out.

J&D - Hi. Glad your computer issues were taken care of.

Fab- speaking of computer problems, how'd it go with the repair guy today? I hope you are not getting sick. :wizard:

FF - how thoughtful of you to think of ds' teacher's b'day - I have no idea when the kids' teachers b'days are. How about a gift certificate to a book store or local restaurant.

zalansky - sounds like fun shopping!

robin - ick about the drumstick cone on the chair! And that IS the best part. . .

ok, gotta take care of dinner. Catch up (I hope) more later.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY TAMIE!

J&D- Welcome back!

Gems- Congrats on the C-Section news! Sorry about the family situation though.

Zalansky- I think KFed is really gross too. I feel bad for Britney because she seems like such a messed up girl. Getting out of that marriage sounds like the right thing for her though.

Hillbeans- that’s really scary about the light fixture. My grandparents had that happen with a pane of glass once. Out of nowhere it just exploded! Glad to hear that no one got hurt.

FloridaFam- I hope your DS’s teacher is ok. I know when I got pregnant after my miscarriage they had me come in a couple of times a week in the beginning to keep monitoring things, so it’s possible! Sounds like you’re getting a lot done around the house.

Tamie- the itinerary looks great.

DisKim- woohoo for the raise! Emily sounds like she’s really going to deserve this puppy by Christmastime. Have fun in NYC!

BNB- We used to get field mice all the time. I hated to kill the little guys, but they’d always find a way into the pasta and chocolate. So much for mice loving cheese.. these mice would chew through plastic bags to get at egg noodles. Finally we found these outlet things at home depot. They make a noise that scares away the mice, but is safe for humans and pets. So now I’m not trying to catch the mice and put them back outside.

Dizagain- Carson would get along really well with Olivia. She never naps during the day! Everyone says I should be glad she sleeps during the night (and I am), but some days I can’t get anything done.

Lissawynn- Glad to hear that the house is staying dry. I was thinking about you today while I was watching all the rain and puddles we have here.

Alice- Your MIL sounds like my mom’s MIL (my grandma). She always made comments about my parents’ marriage not working out and how much she loved her other DILs. Although my parents have been through they’re ups and downs, they’ve been together 29 years now, while both of my dad’s brothers are divorced!
Yuck about the couch. We did a major couch cleaning before we started recovering it, and it was GROSS. I haven’t allowed eating on the couch since we moved.

Tasha- Sounds like Kylie is doing just fine. Some kids are just on the smaller side. As long as she’s not rapidly losing weight or starting to act lethargic, it sounds like she’s ok. DSis(16) has always been small. She was born at a normal weight (7 lbs 6 oz), but grew VERY slowly and was always under the 0% for height and weight. She was so excited this year, because she finally reached 5 feet tall.

Ack- November 15th! I have to FIND all the stuff I’ve bought for my exchange buddy. I kept picking up little things and did the bulk of the shopping this week. I also need to get a box to put everything into.

Another crazy day for me. Mom was working 8am-4pm again, so Olivia got to stay with me. We went to the pediatrician this morning, which went well. She’s up to 16 lbs 10 oz in weight (50%), 26 inches in height (75%) and her head circumference went up to 50%. Now we can’t make fun of her tiny head anymore, since she’s more proportional. She started on green veggies today with some peas, and gets to start with vitamins too. The doctor said that she’s getting a tooth on the top right side (weird child, starts getting teeth on the top rather than the bottom) and she got the first half of the flu shot. So it was a busy visit.

We went to the office afterwards. DBro was also there, since he was spending the day with my dad, so it was basically impossible to get anything done. We left early and went shopping again (ack!), but didn’t buy too much. We did get a copy of Cars for my mom, since she had no time to buy her own, and some wine for Thanksgiving dinner. Oh, and the rake for getting up all the leaves in the front yard.

Now, time to snuggle my little bald baby and make some dinner.

Just a quick drive by post to say:

:bday: Happy Birthday Tamie!! I hope all your birthday wishes come true!!

I have to get all my nightly chores done so I can be prepared for LOST tonight. I am determined to make it thru awake for this episode as I think it's the last new one for quite some time - February?? :furious: :furious:

Things are going well here on our end...no complaints, and knock on wood and anything else I can find we are all healthy.

Aidan is being a little pistol tonight  . I think he's bored because he couldn't go outside today.

diz - Yes, I'm going to the Spectacular tomorrow. I think it's their first official show.

robin and zalansky - Thanks for the advice. I had a hard time last year and at the beginning of this year because I'm so darn bored of the literature that I'm teaching, but I've stirred things up quite a bit and started many new projects. It has made me feel better. Some of them have been great and some have flopped but at least I'm trying. I still can recite lines from Macbeth and Romeo and Juliet in my sleep, but I'm dealing with it. At least it makes me sound smart :thumbsup2 !

lissawynn - I'm so glad to hear your house is okay. I was so worried!

FF - I've never heard of having to buy the teachers birthday presents. I have never known when my kids' teachers' birthdays are.

I have my exchange package all bought. I just have to find a box to send it in. I actually went out and bought everything right away. It's always fun shopping for DIS babies!!

I'm trying to decide whether to drive into NYC or take the train tomorrow. I think I might splurge and take the train. It's cheaper to drive in though. Alex would get a big kick out of the train. We'll be getting out of the show late though and I think it will be tough getting all the way down to Penn Station with 2 sleepy kids. It's about 14 blocks away and getting a cab after a show is no picnic. That happened to us when we saw The Nutcracker in Lincoln Center (best show ever BTW). It was FREEZING out and we couldn't hail a cab to save our lives. Emmy was miserable. Well, I better go take over Aidan duty so DH can get to priming our bathroom walls.

Tkyes - just in case you haven't been there-- the one thing that freaked me out about the dig site area when Kailey was 3 was that a lot of it is vertical, and it's hard to go up as an adult - there are a lot of nets and small kids everywhere, and although I tried to monitor Kailey from the ground, I couldn't really see her and then she panicked when she lost her shoe. Unlike most of WDW, there was not enough supervision by CM's here.

Here are some pictures of Jenna in her Tinkerbell costume. She won 2nd place in our city library's Halloween costume contest.

J&D - She's adorable! Cannot imagine who won first place (there's no way they could have been cuter)
