The Official New Mom Thread Part 2

I hope I can get caught up.

justhat,

:grouphug: Don't feel bad. I agree with jill, Madison is just a normal 2 yr old. I think your mom is just set in her ways and any variation from that makes her nervous. My Mom does the same thing.

I hope Henry is feeling better today and that you have been getting some rest.

jill,

I'm glad you had fun on your retreat. Have a wonderful time at Disneyland.

gottalovethem,

I'm glad you made the parade. :cheer2:

buzzandbelle'smom,

That dance class sounds fun. Let us know how it goes.

Robin,

I bet you are excited about your carpet. :cool1: Make sure to post a picture when it's all done.

Sorry about the situation with your BIL. Hopefully, your DH can offer some emotional support. Why doesn't your SIL realize what she is doing?

We aren't doing much here today. I was going to go to the consignment shop today and take one of Kona's strollers but I looked on ebay and they are selling for over $200 :yay: I told DH I might just have to sell something on ebay for the first time.

I'm so afraid of getting scammed though so I have to make a decision. We only use her Peg Perego now because it is so convenient. DH doesn't want to get rid of her Bob one but it just sits in our garage. I hate things just sitting around.

I'm looking forward to DH picking up his computer. I know he'll want to look it over and make sure everything is fine.

I know some of you have mentioned that you are maybe going to WDW in May. I know we will be there next May. They haven't set the date for the 1/2 Ironman yet but I know for sure we will be there for at least a weekend. Maybe we can have a mini mom's meet next May. :bounce:

Hi everyone. I was in mid-post yesterday afternoon when DH came home with Jimmy, and my "alone" time was shot to heck. Musikfest was fun on Saturday. DH, my sister, her son, Jimmy, and I ate our way through $50 in tickets and I ended up paying for it all day yesterday. I started the morning with throwing up bile b/c there was nothing in my tummy. Then I spent the rest of the day running to the bathroon b/c everything I ate (and I could hardly eat anything) went right through me. I finished off a lovely day by staying up until 2 this morning cause I couldn't burp and had a fire buring in my chest. Chalk up another great weekend for me!
We have no plans for today, but I do need to get my butt in gear and do some wash. There is a ton of it waiting for me in the basement.

floridafam - I would like to learn how to sell on ebay, too. My SIL does it all the time with her girls' stuff. Some of the higher end stuff goes for a pretty penny.

justthat - I don't know what to say about your mom. I guess we all have our way of doing things and often it's not what someone else would choose to do. My mom and sister butt heads a lot about my nephew, and it's caused some tension at times. No kid is perfect. Jimmy is about as strong-willed as they come, and it's going to be interesting to see what living with my mom is like when our addition gets started. :grouphug: to you! I hope Henry is well today.

Alice - I am dreading cleaning out our bedrooms, closets, and hall closets when the construction starts. I'm sure I'll be making a few trips to Goodwill. We have so much stuff in such a small amount of space and I can't remember how it all got here. Your NN's daughter sounds like a spoiled brat. It's not surprising if her mom is the way she is. How difficult is it for her to thank guests for a gift?

jill - Glad you and your sister had a great weekend. I always miss DH when we're apart. I always start out thinking it'll be nice to have a break. Then I end up missing him and wanting to go home.

Ginamarie - My grandmother cruised the PC 2 or 3 times. She went cruise crazy when she retired and went all over the world. She loved it. I'd love for DH to go on one of the 3 day Disney cruises, but he refuses. Btw, DH's grandmother made some snotty remarks to us on Easter about how much we travel. We got this speech about how she only every went on 1 vacation, blah, blah, blah. I teach summer school to deliquents every year so we can pay for our vacations. I told her as much and then she shut up.

J&D - Yay on the cheer outfit! :cheer2:

GLT - Sounds like your weekend was a little hectic. I'm glad you found the parade.

I have to get moving on my house stuff. I'll check in a little later!

Hi mommies. Just posting a quick hello! Aidan's official 1st Birthday party was a smash hit. We had so much fun and he really went after the cake, again. I will post more and some pics when I get the chance. I wanted to pop on and see how Justhat was doing and I can not believe the baby he is here!!!!!

Justhat - Henry is such a cutie!! Congratulations to you and your family.

I hope to get caught up with you ladies later this eve when DH is home. I hope all is well with everyone!

Good morning :goodvibes Hope everyone had a great weekend!

I have a question for those of you who do the sunshine rewards. I finally signed up because I keep seeing these "click" messages everywhere. My question is, how the heck do you ever get up to $25? I got $2 for signing up and did a survey but that will take me a long time to get to $25. Is there a way to earn faster?

zalansky,

It is taking me a while to get anywhere on SR. I get credits mostly for shopping. I did get a nice credit from shoes.com when I made a purchase. I have also gotten credit for a few purchases from Gap and Old Navy.

I don't do the paid offers or surveys, I just don't have the time.

I do the daily clicks and the sunshine scratch off.

I hope this helps. I do a lot of shopping online so I figured I might as well get the credit for it-even if I don't get over $20 as fast as some of the others do.

Hi everyone! DH and I had a great time at the baseball game yesterday, even though they lost. :guilty:

I hope everyone had a nice weekend. Back to work. Another Monday.

SL,
Hope work goes smoothly today. When do you get your new spot?

Loretta,
Like FF said, I get most of my SR credits through shopping (although I am STILL waiting for my shoes.com credit to come through :furious: ). I also do some of the surveys and sign ups. I no longer do the ones that you are required to give a phone number for because they are too annoying. I also don't do the paid sign-ups that cost money. It has taken me awhile to get close to $25 too. I should have about $35 if I had all my credits in and I think I started in June? .

Lissawynn,
Sorry you had such a rotten Sunday. I remember those days all too well.

Bellacam,
I can't wait to see pics of the party :cheer2: .

FF,
I keep contemplating whether or not I want to sell on Ebay. I know people do well with it but I'm always nervous about getting taken. I guess I don't have enough trust in people :rolleyes1 .

Jill,
I'm glad you and your sis had such a great time on the retreat :) . Next it's on to Disneyland  !

GM,
Yes, it does seem like it takes forever when packing to make a visible dent in your "stuff". Just keep trucking along. I always ended up getting rid of a ton of stuff each time we moved because I didn't like it enough to pack it and then unpack it again ;) .

J&D,
I'm so happy you found a cheerleading outfit for Jenna :cheer2: ! I'm sure she will be the hit of the game.

Robin,
I hope everything is going well with the carpet install today :wizard: .

GLT,
We end up watching ESPN way too much in this house. Dh usually has it on if he's awake. I'll never understand how he can listen to the same news stories over and over again because it seems like each show talks about the same sports "news".

Justhat,
I'm so sorry you are having to deal with extra stress right now :grouphug: . It is very hard to have more than one mom in a house for an extended amount of time I think. And while I'm sure your mom means well it has been a long time since she has dealt with a two year old so I'm sure some of the details are foggy at best. You just keep doing what you are doing because you are a GREAT mother and don't let anybody tell you otherwise. If Madison likes her socks a certain way then that's the way it is :) . Heck, it annoys the crap out of me when my socks turn around and the seam is on the bottom of my foot so I can relate to how she feels ;) .

I hope Henry is doing better with his bili levels. Please let us know how that goes today when you get a chance. Once your mom has left and you have some time to settle in to your new routine with two kids I'm sure you will be much happier. Remember we are all here anytime you need to talk or vent :grouphug: .

Nothing too exciting going on here today. I need to head to the grocery store but that is about it.

I have accomplished little since my last post. I just feel lousy. I am the broken record of our board lately. I just can't seem to get out of this ms/feeling crappy state. I really hope things are different before I get back to work next week.
I found out that I can get into my room on Friday. Nothing like custodians who wait until the last minute to do their stuff. I'm taking our Dell desktop into school and leaving it there. We don't really have the room for it here, plus, I won't have to take the laptop with me everyday. One less bag to carry is a good thing.

I forgot to tell you that Jimmy had his first taste of dog food yesterday. My mom and her BF came to visit and Jimmy had been eating Nilla wafers. I didn't have the gate across the living room doorway, and he helped himself to two pieces of Duke's food. I managed to get most of the piece he had in his mouth out, and I took the other one away. He didn't seem to mind it too much.

bellacam - Nice to hear from you! Glad to hear the party was a success.

SL - DH is a Yankees fan, too. We don't get the YES network, so we only get to see games when they're on the NY station or ESPN.

Val - I'm just tired of being sick. I just want to feel "normal" again.

zalansky - I don't do any of those rewards things; sorry I can't help.

vald1977,

I'm afraid of getting taken on ebay, too. I told Dh how much the stroller was going for on ebay and he said "let's do it."

I looked last night and there were 7 strollers on there like hers and they were all going for over $250.

I would be lucky to get 1/2 that from the consignment shop.

lissawynn,

What on earth are you going to do when you go back? Do you have another Dr. appt between now and when school starts? Can you get more meds before school starts? I would seriously consider asking for the Zofran again if you are starting to throw up all the time.

I hope your students will be understanding. :grouphug:

Feel free to come here and vent anytime you want. We all know what you are going through and how awful it can be. :grouphug:

I'm glad you post because I like to know how you are doing. :thumbsup2

The carpet people are here!

I could kill my DH!

The only time I got pi$$y with him this weekend, is when yesterday he got flaky about moving the last pieces of furniture yesterday. We emptied his 3 small dressers into the bathtub, , but the shells of the dressers were still in the bedroom....and the mattress (but not the box spring or frame or anything). He was like, "it's no big deal, they can move a few pieces, just give them $40, blah, blah." I was like, "No, move them, I told Home Depot the rooms would be EMPTY." He wouldn't.

Sure enough, the home depot people are like, "oh....well, we need to call Home Depot to authorize us moving this and they might charge you."

:furious: Of course I had to call DH and say I TOLD YOU SO.

And the cats had to come off the porch cause of so much back and forth- so now the stinky cat box is in the room too.

Oh, now the guy just told me the stairs were done wrong (big surprise) by the last guy who installed, so that's another $50.

Home improvements ALWAYS cost more than you think, don't they?

Z- I only earn so much on Sunshine becuase I do some of the trial offers (only the ones I am interested in) and I shop thru then occasionally. I only got up to $29 this week because I did the Blockbuster trial- $15 credit and I paid $9.99 for one month of rentals. I wanted to catch up on my movies anyway. And I FINALLY got my referral for Val, and about $3 in other surveys I did. I had had $9 for a quite awhile.

FF- I have sold probably 140 items on ebay and have yet to be scammed by anyone. For something like the stroller, I would make sure you do your research on how much to charge to ship. And tell the buyer that they need to purchase insurance for something like that. I always pay the extra .55 for delivery confirmation so I know when they get it. You will get addicted fast once you see how easy it is to sell! My only beef! I HATE going to the Post Office! And I need to go today to mail off the costumes.

lissawynn- I'm so sorry your MS has not subsided. That sucks. :guilty: lol at Jimmy's first taste of dog food.....

ok- gotta go 4 now

floridafam - The throwing up isn't due to the ms. I have a really weak gag reflex. I am usually kind of stuffed up in the morning, and I start clearing my throat and that sets off the throwing up. Sometimes I can control it, other times, like yesterday, I couldn't. This has been happening since I was pg with Jimmy and continued when I wasn't pg. I think the stomach issues over the last couple of days were caused by the tons of rich food I'd eaten. My sister told me my nephew threw up all over when we got home from Musikfest on Sat. night. Maybe someone didn't wash their hands very well.

I have an appointment with the dr. on Wed. I'm going to talk to him about how I'm feeling and let him know I have to get back to work next week.

I did eat some leftover chicken livers (I love chicken and turkey livers) over rice and that actually made me feel a little better. Maybe part of my tummy issues are caused by not snacking enough through the day.

My kids were very cool when I was pg with Jimmy. Also, one of our awesome secretaries did not assign me a homeroom again this year. This will give me some extra minutes in the morning if I need to collect myself. Also, when the kids go back to HR for various things, I won't have to deal with them.

Thanks for thinking of me!

lissawynn,

See, now I want to throw up. Chicken livers????????? :confused3 :rotfl:

Robin,

UGH! We need to ship our men off to husband camp or something. It sounds like they need a refresher course. :lmao:

Dh and I officially ended our tiff last night. His Mom sold her house and closes next week. Nobody even bothered to call and tell him so he would have a little notice. :confused3

Our Home Depot sucks in regards to moving extra stuff, etc. We ended up going with someone else for our flooring because they wanted to add on all these extras-delivery, a fee for bringing it in the house, etc.

I'll let you know if I end up putting the item on ebay. I'm pretty sure I could set up a good auction and hopefully not get scammed. Of course, I have to wait and take the picture after we get our Mac back, etc.

Have a great day :wave2:

DARNIT - I could have put you down Robin for a referral. Is it too late for me to do that? I was thinking of signing up for the Blockbuster trial too and cancelling after the first month and we catch up on some movies as well.

Floridafam - I have sold two things on Ebay. One was Cameryn's bumbo seat, I paid $40 for it and got $27 for it. The other was just last week. I put my Baby Bjorn up, we had bought it 3 years ago for Connor and barely used it with either of the kids. We paid $80 and it SOLD within an hour of my putting it up, someone used the Buy It Now feature and it sold for $40. I was wishing I had put it up for more, but I based my price on what others were selling for. Now I have the bug, like Robin said. I want to put up everything in the house. But it seems the baby items do best.

Robin - is it too soon to put up Fall clothes, do you think? I also have another question, I read something on Ebay about them getting tighter with shipping costs. I think that is BS. Because I am factoring in my traveling to/from the post office and my time. For instance, when I sold the Bjorn, I charged $8 shipping and it cost me $5.85 to ship it with delivery confirmation. But I say the other $2 went to my time and gas. What do you think?

Hope everyone is having a good day!

Z- yep, it's too late to use me as a referral- I think you have to use I link I would send you. It's ok though. :goodvibes I too am going to cancel Blockbuster after a month. I got my first movies in a day, AND sunshine already credited me, so I think it's a good one.

Also, as far as shipping fees, I always paid an extra $1-2 on it- paypal takes out a fee, as does ebay and I think that should count as a handling fee. So, for instance those costumes cost me $6 to ship, but I charged $8.

FF- yes, my DH is a retard. Home Depot called and they're charging me $50 for them to move 4 stupid pieces of furniture DH could have done in 15 minutes. I have to just let it go. At least we will have $12-13K next month after we sell the car, so we can pay off this darn credit card...this whole carpet, bed, paint, new ACs, etc has now totalled to about $4800. Not to mention the $2000 we spent at DL in June/July. And the $500 car repair. Can you tell I am having an anxiety attack?

Did I share with you guys that they are already talking of promoting retard-DH in a few months? ;) ;) (forgive my snarky mood). It may be another $500 a month. :cheer2: And not doing too much more than he's doing now. I'm really glad he is loving this job so much. Today was his morning to make breakfast for the office- he brought in Portuguese sausage and eggs.

lissawynn- um, livers?? Hey, whatever makes your tummy feel better! I do know that it does help to always have something in your system- crackers and cheese, chips and guac, veggies and hummus (not my thing but I know lots who like it), smoothies? That's one thing I could always tolerate when I was PG- smoothies with fruits and yogurt.

I really want this install to go fast. I am confined to my kitchen and living room. And the living room is jam packed with crap, so there's not much space. My parent's house is about 750-800 sq feet bigger than ours and DH was waxing on and on about how spacious their house is last night....it was starting to bug me. It's just their living space is so big- huge family AND living rooms. All the other rooms are on the normal size. Plus they have a mud room- a nice space with a washer dryer and a bunch of pantry cabinets. That's what I am jealous of too! My W/D is in our downstairs bathroom and I hate it. Anyway, sometimes when DH goes on and on about something like that, it's like, "Well, what's your point? Our house sucks?" It is nice playing house down there- I think I told you all when my parents redid their kitchen with oak cabinets, granite countertops, top of the line pergo...it's quite swanky. DH was all thrilled to make his biscuits last night in the fancy convection oven.

JD- glad you found the costume you wanted! :cheer2:

Anyway, I will probably check in often this AM, as I am BORED!

Jill- so glad you had a good trip and that your sister got a lot out of it! :cloud9: I can't wait to hear about your DL trip! Please be sure to ride the Story Book Land Canal Boats for me- we didn't go on them last trip, and I love that ride.

floridafam - Ever since we were little, my older sister and I have loved chicken and turkey livers. My dad grew up in a family w/6 kids, so they ate EVERY part of whatever Gramma made for dinner. My dad was also a federal food inspector for many years, so we always ate all kinds of parts. I don't eat beef liver, though. My sister sautees the livers in butter and onions, which makes a kind of gravy and serves them over rice. Liver has tons of iron and is easier to take than those awful pills. My FIL always saves the turkey liver for me at Thanksgiving and Christmas. He's a parts man too, but he shares the liver with me.
Yes, my sister has a fridge she's going to give me for my room. It's just a matter of sneaking up there to put it in my room.

Alice - I hope the carpeting works out. DHs can be total butts at times.

zalansky - I hope you can earn lots of rewards.

I've got a ?? for the moms that ebay.

I am seriously considering listing a few things. Do you think I should doa BIN on Kona's stroller?

Here is a link to the ones that are up there now. Some of them are new and one is used. Mine is a different color. It's the Kona fabric.

http://search.ebay.com/search/searc...1&from=R8&satitle=ironman+stroller&category0=

Is there a big difference in letting something go to the highest bidder and just doing a BIN?? Do most people like a BIN? I estimate shipping will probably be about $40 (or lower) and I would definately make the buyer take insurance.

Any help would be appreciated. THANKS!

FF - that link didn't work for me for some reason. Robin will be the best to answer you, since I have only sold twice. The nice thing about BIN when I sold the Bjorn last week, was I got the money ASAP. Didn't have to wait a week for the bidding to end. Plus, it went for what I thought was more than fair. Like Robin said, do delivery confirmation. That is what I do. I also state in mine that I am not responsible for items shipping time or handling by the post office if they don't buy insurance. And I don't accept returns either. Who needs that headache?

Justthat! Congratulations on Henry!!! I'm just reading some of your messages. I'll have to go back and see where you announced him.

Dean is crawling like mad now and in to everything. He's also got 4 teeth almost thru on the top and 2 that came in on the bottom over a month ago.

He's 21 lbs and doing well!

Hello to you all!

Marilynn

I fixed the link. :thumbsup2

I think I've been bitten by the ebay bug.

I take all of my kid's clothes to the consignment shop and I am sick of getting next to nothing for them. They are good, clean name brand clothes.

Kona is in such a good mood today. The poor little thing is getting 2 more teeth.
