Good evening, everyone - I have about 20 minutes before I have to go to bed. Madeleine has her first real cold and she's having a heck of a time sleeping. Sorry to hear she has plenty of DIS kids company in being sick.

Joats - we have a PB dining room table (from about 5 years ago) and it's worked out really well - pretty durable and I get a lot of compliments on it, even though Kailey has spent the last 3 years digging forks into the finish. And I just went through the UG for our dining plans for our next trip. I'm looking forward to Sushi at the Swan. popcorn::

Z - I do that with "boy" movies all the time. I pretend I'm watching, but I do it behind my computer and pretend I'm following the movie when dh says "Did you see *that*??". I say "That was amazing" or somesuch, and it always seems to fit with the action.

Heyyyy where are my smilie teeth?? This will *never* do. :sad2: Honestly, how often do we use the "snootie" smilie? :snooty:

Robin - I also LOVE pedicures. My feet start out so beaten up and end up looking so feminine.

Ugh Kailey is downstairs for the 3rd time since bedtime and DH is ready to take away all her ponies. I better run interference. (And I always thought I was the "strict" one)

Justine - we get such ridiculous gifts each year (and really really nice ones, too - mixed in with all the weird crap, I've never understood it) and I donate a lot of it to the red cross.

DH's grandmother had surgery on the 26th - they removed around a dozen nodules, none of them cancerous. We cannot figure out if that means they performed unnecessary surgery, or if that is standard.

Ciao, Bellas.
:flower3:

Justine- Well, I will be honest and say that I ebay half of what DH's aunt gives us every year. It's always the most RANDOM stuff that I think she gets in bulk from QVC or Big Lots or something.

For example- LOL- OK, DH is a die-hard proud to be an American, as I think you all know. Served his country twice overseas, in the military, majored in history, blah, blah, blah. Doesn't mean he doesn't appreciate other cultures, but he likes ours best. ;) And he's NOT a country boy- he has liked country music now and then, but is mostly a Levi's pants and van Heusen shirt kinda guy.

So, his aunt sends him THIS for Christmas :rotfl2: :rotfl2: :rotfl2:
ebay196.jpg

It's a belt buckle! I literally was snorting with laughter when he opened it. It's priceless...not even ebay worthy. That is going to be handed down for generations. And I got two weird looking turtlenecks in the wrong size, Molly got twin sized sheets, you know, cause she already is out of her crib (NOT) and the boys got various Bible story Cd Roms. Oh, and snowglobes. Which are cute ,as they are Disney, but not really BOY stuff. So, yes, I have ebayed some of her gifts in the past, because I didn't know what else to do with them. And I wanted a little spending money. :cool2:

Fab- I am sorry Madeleine is on the sick-list. You are funny with your comments to your DH on 'boy' movies. I want the toothy smilie back on the front page too. Cause besides snooty smilie, who uses this one more than once in a blue moon- :bride: ...or :hippie: .

:lmao: :lmao: that is so funny!!! Truly one of the most bizarre gifts I've ever seen. And so totally inappropriate for its recipient. That's great! I think that trumps my grandfather's fiber optic bonzai trees last year.

I have to go search my house for money my mom gave us for Christmas that my husband lost!!! Where is the fiery smilie man when I need him!?! Best part is he's somehow blaming me. Well he was, he got over that cause I pointed out I never throw anything out, ever, which he knows is true, and knows he does throw things out, a lot. He has misplaced quite a few monetary gifts over the years and they have always turned up, but I'm not so hopeful this time cause I have no recollection of seeing it where he claims he left put it. And my mom has pneumonia (which she thinks she got from her friend who was her roommate on the London trip cause when they got home she found out the friend was sick before they left and is on antibiotics now) so I don't want to tell her about it. Wish me luck.

Robin - That belt buckle is priceless :rotfl2: . My SIL is the queen of weird gifts. For Alex's 3rd birthday, she gave him a bag of dirt, some seeds and a shovel.

I got on and Aidan started screaming! Gotta go!

I have a question for all of you experienced moms out there:

DS was diagnosed with the double ear infection on Friday. His ped gave us a prescription for Omnicef (sp?). He said to give Jose Jr. 3/4 teaspoon once a day for 10 days. I gave it to him about 4:30 Saturday afternoon. At about 7:30pm, I was playing with him and noticed little red bumps all over his chest, back, and upper arms. Is this a heat rash from his fever or an allergy to the meds? He doesn't seem to be scratching them and they aren't bothering him. He is running around acting like a little goofball playing with his toys. I don't want to bother his ped by calling on a Sunday. Is it safe to wait until tomorrow to call?

nyprincess,

My DD is allergic to Omnicef and got a rash when we gave it to her but it was pretty severe.

I suppose it wouldn't hurt to call tomorrow.:grouphug:

Madison had a rash like that to some penicillin at 10 months and we kept giving it to her as it would go away in between doses and was never that bad. I told the ped about it and he said that since it was a really mild reaction not to worry about it just yet, but if we said she had a penicillin allergy then we'd really limit the antibiotics should could take. She took penicillin again about 14 months later and was fine with no reaction at all.

I'd maybe skip today's dose and call the ped tomorrow and see what they advise you to do based on how bad the rash was, etc. For me calling the ped on a Sunday would not be worth the hassle as it would take forever to get a call back from a resident.

Morning all! DH was supposed totake the older two skiing today, but the mountain was closed since it was so warm (65!!!) yesterday.

Gina--I hear you on Olivia's party--believe me, growing up Italian, I know EXACTLY what you mean about a simple party turning into 100 people!. Plus, her birthday's early April--trust me, I've hosted April birthdays (Robert's is 4/3), and the weather is very iffy. Sure, you could have 60 degrees and sunny, but you could also have freezing rain! I would either see if someone else could host (your mom?), or keep it real small and tell exptended family you'll see them at Easter. Good luck, I know you don't want to hurt anyone's feelings, but your small house could feel really, really tiny with that crowd!

justine--There's nothing wrong with e-baying or otherwise trading in duplicate gifts. If you feel badly, spend the proceeds on something else for your kids (yeah, like there's a toy shortage at your place!). Good luck finding the $$, I would be LIVID if my DH did something like that! Usually, though, I collect all cash gifts immediately and put them in safekeeping for just that reason--it's too easy to lose stuff in the Christmas crush.

Robin--LMAO on that belt buckle. I bet he didn't already have one! My MIL's source for weird gifts is Building 19, which I think is a New England thing. Sort of like Big Lots, but less predictable merchandise. We get all sorts of weird kids books and so forth from her. And I've been through the store, you can get good deals if you know your labels and such, but there's so much funky stuff you have to dig through. Like, she picked Jocelyn up a set of size 12-14 Barbie pajamas. Now, any mom can figure out why these didn't sell in the regular store--girls that size aren't into Barbie anymore. So, poor Jocelyn, she's so polite, but afterwards, she's begging me to do anything with these pajamas, because she wouldn't be caught dead in them. She probably would have liked the fiberoptic bonsai tree, though.

Oh, and I didn't think you were dissing the Gymbo ladies at all, and I hope I didn't come across like I was, either. My attitude is, if you can afford it, knock yourself out! I get a little jealous sometimes, but I'm happy with my sources for the vintage stuff. And I think there are worse habits than wanting your kids to dress nice.

"Hi" to everyone else--it's time for Luke's solid food bath.

I'll call the ped tomorrow. I just called home to check on him and Jose Sr. said that all the bumps were gone.

I guess we're lucky because this is the first time since he's been born that he's been sick enough to have to take to the doctor and get a prescription. He was pulling on his ears a little bit last night, but other than that he's been acting fine.

Do ear infections cause really nasty diapers? Apparently, it was so bad today that it leaked onto one of his neices.

Nucpharm- 14 miles- WOW! Even in my best shape I wouldn’t be running 14 miles.

Justhat- I’ve been thinking about ebaying some of the stuff we got for Christmas too. I don’t feel too badly about it, because it’s stuff I’ll never use or already have, and it might be a treasure to whoever buys it.

Fabs- I’m glad to hear that none of the nodules were cancerous. I think it’s routine behavior to remove things like that to make sure there’s no cancer, and because they consider them “precancerous.” They can’t really tell what they are unless they remove and test them. The cyst on my head looks benign, but the doctor said he won’t know for sure until it’s out and tested.

Alice- Nice belt buckle! :rolleyes1 In my family, my aunt is the inappropriate gift giver. When my mom turned 34 or 35 my aunt gave her a used book which she’d just read about menopause!

BNB- We’re completely on the same page about the birthday party. April weather is not what I’d consider “outdoor” weather, especially with her birthday in EARLY April. If it were June I’d feel a little differently. It’s also just a LOT of work to have that many people in the house (in addition to the expense). I talked to DH about it again last night, and we’re just going to have to look like the bad guys. What can you do sometimes?

We were voted out of WPASADI last night. So I guess none of the moms are going to win the grand prize :( I feel guilty now for all the time I put in, but I will have a lot more time in the next couple of weeks than I would if I were still in it, so there you go.

SIL just picked up Olivia for the day, so I’m going to take down the ornaments from the tree and whatever else I can get done short of carrying it all up the stairs and into the attic (I need DH for that). I’m also going to clean the house and do some cooking. Oh the fun!

I don't think the infection would cause a yucky diaper, but the medicine certainly can. My kids often would get diarrhea with antibiotics. Hang in there!

As long as I'm here at work, I'm ok. I try to not change his diapers unless he and I are alone only because at this stage in my pregnancy, I can't be running into the bathroom very gracefully.

Hi moms,
Once again the week has flown by and I haven't had a chance to post :( . I have been keeping up with all of you by lurking though ;) .

I am still sick. I went through my ten days of antibiotics and the one side of my tonsils is still huge (not infected anymore though I don't think). I'm also still totally exhausted. I go for my annual gyn appt. on Tuesday so I think I'll try and get another antibiotic from them. I don't want to try and co-ordinate or pay for two dr. visits.

My grandfather who had the liver surger is doing very badly. He's back in the hospital. We went up to see him yesterday and he is very confused. It's so terrible to see him like that :sad1: . I don't know if I should pray for his recovery or his release by the way it's looking.

I apoligize in advance that I prob. will miss a ton of moms but I wanted to try and catch up a bit here.

Tasha,
Congrats on the scholership! That's wonderful news.

Justthat,
I wouldn't feel too bad about selling the gifts.

Robin,
That buckle is hysterical!

GM,
Sorry your team was eliminated. I was pulling for you.

Loretta,
Still praying for you and your dad.

GLT,
I hope your x is okay. Happy Birthday Laine!

My time is up. Sorry I didn't get to everyone. I hope everyone is doing well and all the sick kids are better soon. TTYL.

Val- I'm so sorry you still are not feeling well. That is exhausting for you!

Can I have a moment to vent: I got so much done yesterday, and yet my house still looks like a pit this morning! This is what I did yesterday:

Went to mall- bought some Clinique moisturizer; returned toys at Target; bought kids lunch; 5 loads of laundry washed & put away; vacuumed up and downstairs; mopped downstairs; cleaned up after an overflowed toilet (fun); went to post office to mail ebay stuff; worked out for 45 minutesl; made dinner; scrapbooked 12 pages.

You would think after I did all that my house would be in some order but no. Molly got a hold of my scrappy stuff before I could get it all put away, so there were pens and papers everywhere. New laundry has accumulated on the floor. The kitchen counters are cluttered with just junk. And I need to vacuum again already cause I let them eat cookies in the living room. :headache:

DH had drill yesterday and came home at 6, ate dinner with us and then went upstairs to bed cause he was tired and his stomach was hurting from lunch (I guess 10 guys already had thrown up about 4 hours after lunch so something was off in the lasagne they served for chow). I was a little irritated because the boys were just deaf last night every time I instructed them with something and I got irritated that another parent was in the house but not doing anything. Yet again he worked a 12 hour day, so I couldn't be too grumpy.

This morning I got to the grocery store before the big crowds, got it put away, and I guess I will tidy up the kitchen. I just get so exasperated that nothing can stay clean for more than 45 minutes in this house! I can't wait for the basement to be done so I have more storage space for stuff and the ground floor bedroom which is currently the boy's room can be our office again and I can scrap in there, out of the way.

Oh, and I don't know if anyone here really likes Creative Memories scrapbook stuff, once a quarter I order from a friend of mine who gives me (and all her other customers) her discount. She doesn't do it as a business, just as a way for all of us to get our supplies for 30% off. If anyone here needs anything, just PM me and I can add it to my order and then ship it out to you when I get it in mid Feb. (she usually orders at the end of the month). I plan on just loading up on some pages and albums this time; she isn't sure how much longer everyone wants to do it, so this might be her last order, I don't know.

I was pleased I got almost caught up last night. My drawer was overflowing with misc. pictures from the last 3 months and I got 2/3s of them in the album. Certainly not my most creative work, but I'm at the point where I don't care anymore about the pages being masterpieces. I just wanted Christmas done before our WDW trip. (Although more pictures will be taken in the meantime, I just didn't want to be way-backlogged). I always do a LOT of pics in Disney, usually enough for an album per WDW trip. I love having an excuse to buy lots of Disney stickers and embellishments at the scrapbook store!

Anyway, I guess I will clean my darn kitchen. Ugh.

Oh- good news- I weighed myself this morning. The first week I lost nothing, which I thought was odd. Well, I lost 4 pounds! I think I must have been on the cusp of a one pound loss last week. I feel really awesome about that! And my 'official' weigh in with DH is on Wednesdays, so hopefully that 4 pounds will stay off and maybe another pound by then. I have been trying with the food aspect of it, but not perfect, but I'm kicking a$$ with the exercise. I think I elevated my metabolism or something. And plus, another Aunt Flo came, just 8 days after the last one ended. This Depo is fun stuff getting out of my system, but that's OK. At least my body is trying to flush it out!

Wow, Alice, sounds like my dh. He worked 12 hrs yesterday, as I did here in the house with the boys. Yet, he gets home, eats and goes to bed!

You amaze me all the work you got done yesterday!

I'd love to take advantage of your CMemories connection!

Hi to all the mommies! School starts for the boys again tomorrow! I'm looking forward to it. I have to meet with management at work before I'm allowed to return. I'll keep you up to date.

Marilynn

Marilynn- just PM me what you would like. I'm not placing the order until the end of the month. You can just paypal me the money (we would have to figure out the money difference I guess) and then I can ship it to you when I get it.

By any chance does anyone have a pair of the gold ladybug Fiesta del Sol sandals Gymboree had last year, in a size 8? I'm watching some on ebay (I GOTTA STOP). I saw some in the store a couple of months ago for maybe $6...I shoulda bought them, but I wasn't sure how much Molly's feet would grow. She has 3 or 4 outfits now in that line and I would love the sandals for cheap! Thanks!

Hi, everyone!

Jenna seems to be feeling a lot better, so we are going to venture out tonight to church and maybe do a little after Christmas shopping. I think we both developed cabin fever over the last few days, so getting out should do us some good.

I'll be back later.

TTFN!

Hi. Sorry for all the drive-bys -- here are some photos to share:

Here's my little pirate...he was cranky the day of his party, I think he was missing X.

Here's some of the gang enjoying their lunch.

I just thought this pic was so cute (DS was playing so nicely by himself) I had to run and get my camera.

Touch base later! BTW, great to hear from you Icebrat!

Robin - I know exactly what you mean about working like crazy in the house only to have it turn back into a pit. That happens to me on a daily basis. As a matter of fact, Alex just informed me that I don't do anything for the dog. I said, "yeah, well I do every thing else!"

J&D - Glad to hear Jenna is feeling better.

Val - I can't believe you still don't feel so hot after 10 days of antibiotics!! I hope you get better soon.

GLT - Sweet pictures! What a cool cake!

I took the kids to see Happy Feet. I thought it was cute but wasn't all that impresses. I actually was a little disturbed with all the reference to mating. It would go right over a little one's head, but Emmy is 11 and it made me uncomfortable. I'm just a prudish mom, I guess. Then, we ran errands. DH stayed home with Aidan.

Well, tomorrow is the High School Musical concert. Emmy doesn't appear all that excited yet. I'm sure she will be tomorrow. I'm going to be totally exhausted at work on Tuesday.

OK, gotta go finish some cleaning and get Aidan ready for bed.

Wow, I can't believe it's 5 on Sunday already--seems like I just got out of bed. We went to church this am and then headed to my parents to "do Christmas" with them. It was really fun! My parents are really cheesy at Christmas, but it's great fun--example, you have to answer a Christmas related trivia question to open a gift (except the kids). We all got some really nice things; my parents go over the top at Christmas! I got the cutest Mickey watch--can't wait to wear it!! Emma got a Disney Princess pillow and sheet set and she's ready to go to bed right now! :cool1:

But, I better go--this home is a disaster (Alice, I feel your pain). ANd I need to think of something for dinner--frozen pizza again! Yuck! Will really try to catch up later, I promise!!
