lissawynn- :scratchin :scratchin hmmmmmmmmmmmm.....as to your hint. :teeth: I still find it funny that of all our mommies, I'm out here alone on the west coast. Sniff. Although I learned long ago, that most fans of WDW live east of the Mississippi, and people living west of Texas or so tend to just go to DL. Most people here look at me crazy when I have mentioned how often we go to WDW....they say, "Oh, Disneyland?" And I say, "No, Disney WORLD- the one in Florida? "And they say, "Why do you go all the way to Florida when DL is just in CA?" And I shake my head and say, "You stupid, naive people...." :sad2: JK!

Diz- how exciting that the house is going on the market this weekend! I don't know how I would keep my house 'show clean' either. I'm lucky to get beds made, laundry done and the floor swept.

Z- Continued :grouphug: about your Dad.

I gotta get back to baking....the biscotti are in their first round in the oven.

Hi everyone! :sunny:

I just got back from an eye appointment with Meagan. I wish I could have had my appointment and Katie's appointment at the same time b/c I'll be heading back there twice on Thursday and it is a good 30 minute drive to the doctor's office. Bad mom moment though, Meagan's eyesight has changed significantly over the past year. I didn't bring her in these past few months b/c of school and I got a lecture about that. As if I didn't feel bad enough about having to study all the time. I'm doing the best I can. On a positive note, the doctor feels that Meagan is mature enough for contacts so we are going to give that a try. I hope that it works out!

Justhat - I feel for you. :grouphug: It sounds like Henry is having a hard time getting into a good routine with napping. Don't feel bad though, we had the same issue when Katie was a baby and I had to do the preschool drop off and pick up. He should hopefully get into a groove soon. :grouphug:

Zalansky - I'm so sorry to hear about your dad. That is good that he can go home where he is comfortable. :grouphug: :grouphug: :grouphug:

GLT - I'm glad that you got the package. You deserve something special for yourself. :grouphug: I think you should be getting a package from the Disney store very soon for the kids.

BNBmom - That oreo recipe of Nucpharm's sounds heavenly! I need to go back a few pages and print off a copy of it! Glad to hear that it was a hit. I hope that you are feeling better soon.

SL - I voted for your dress! I hope you win! :wizard:

J&D - I forgot to tell you that I loved Jenna's picture!

dizagain - I'm sorry to hear that Carson isn't giving you a break. :wizard: Good luck with the house!!

Robin - You are making me nervous with all of the Comcast fiascos. They bought out our old cable company and we will have Comcast very soon. Good luck with the rest of your baking!

Nucpharm - That is great that you were able to get a lot accomplished today!

Lissawynn - Sorry to hear about the lost yearbook pages.

DisKim - Good luck getting everything done! :wizard:

Tamie - Good luck with the Christmas cards!

Hillbeans - It sounds like Liam is finally sleeping through the night for you. That is wonderful news!

Well, I better run...John is Mr. Cranky Pants due to his lack of a nap this afternoon. Everyone have a great evening! :wave2:

Okay, so now it's time to add me to the "Bad Mommy" list! The babysitting lasted a whole hour (I know, hard work  ), so I decided that I should schlep the kids to the bank and then to the grocery to pick up some go-go juice for me (got to have my caffeine). Anyway, I was loading the kids back in the car at the store ready to head home, when Emma starts crying that her mouth hurts. I was like "you are just tired, when we get home you can take a nap" Well, we get home and I leave the kids in the car so I can go check the mail. ANd then I hear Emma wailing in the car, and i"m mumbling under my breath that she really is crabby and needs a nap. WEll, I get back to the car and the poor thing has thrown up all over herself and the carseat. She really didn't feel good :guilty: I feel terrible--so now I'm pretty much giving her whatever she wants! I just hope it was a one time deal, and our house won't get the "bug" going around. But I guess if we're to get it, now would be better--before our trip next week.

Well, off to get dinner ready! Will chat later--barring any more vomit!

Well, I feel rotten. The "man flu" (recognized in our house by the lack of enthusiasm for household/childcare duties but enough energy to play x-box until midnight) is officially The Flu. DH saw his Dr. on Monday and came home with prophylactic antibiotics and the general instructions to drink fluids and get lots of rest. He's been sleeping for pretty much three days straight. The only good side of this is that a project that has been a thorn in his side is the one that is getting abandoned, and he'll be home the rest of the week.

Anyhow - love the new photos everyone!

nucpharm - I'm sorry to hear Emma got sick :guilty: . I usually blow off my kids when they say they don't feel good until I get vomit or fever for proof. I've been a bad mom for a while ;) . It comes from having a very overly dramatic daughter.

fab - :rotfl2: I love your description of the man flu!

I feel so bad but I just cancelled my little gift exchange party with my friends for Friday. I just can't deal with it. There are 9 kids between all of us and I just can't get myself to go through the whole cleaning before and after stuff. I have so much grading to do and I have no time this week to clean, etc. There are 4 of us and in the 10 years or so that we've been friends, one of my friends has NEVER had us over her house. The only time I saw the inside of her house was when I ran in to use her bathroom when I picked her and her son up to go to Sesame Place. I think SHE could have the Christmas party for once. I suggested that we either have it next week when things calm down for me or go OUT somewhere. My house is too big and stupid in its layout. I get left with messes on all 3 levels. OK, I'm done. Am I mean to cancel this??? I feel so bad but I just can't do it.

Fab - Your man flu has me :rotfl2: - gosh they are so typical, all of them. My Dh is also "getting" the flu, he thinks. His stomach hurts yet he managed to just put a snickers in the freezer for tonight. As he is laying on the couch now holding his head. Gimme a break.

Diskim - don't feel bad at all for cancelling the party! Its not mean at all....and that is alot of work. On the flip side I will tell you that in my group of 3 mom friends, I am that mom who doesn't have anyone over. I know my one friend is ticked about it because she mentions it when she gets drunk. (nice!) The thing is when I first joined the mommy group we met it I made it perfectly clear I would not host playdates at my home so if people were not comfy with that then don't invite me over. These 2 other women have big, beautiful homes with play rooms for the kids and in ground pools, in nice neighborhoods. Our house is small, has one verryy small living room and is not in the best area. I don't feel comfortable having people here because it is not a house made for entertaining. We have no space. I understand that they could take offense to the fact I have not had them over, but I've also only know them less than a year....and it is not a big concern for me...ANYWAY I went on and on there but what I was trying to convey really is that maybe there are reasons she hasn't has y'all over. (also I want to interject that I offer every time they have had me over to bring ALL the food and/or drinks to compensate)

Anyway I am off to bathe the kids and get them in bed. Have a goodnight :cloud9:

z- My friend has a nice, big house with plenty of room for the kids. I really think that she just doesn't like the thought of all the commotion in her house. I can't blame her. I don't like it either. 9 kids is a small birthday party!

Emily is driving me insane. Her ADD is kicking into full gear at this point in the year. She is so disorganized!! She is forgetting homework and to have her reading log signed each week. Now, she has lost her reading book. We've searched the entire house and it is just nowhere to be found. I really can't wait until the kids go to bed tonight.

Just want to share- all the New Mom wasabi teams made it to round 2!

Our team came in 8th! :bitelip:

Now on to think about this next challenge? Oy! popcorn::

Hey Moms.
I just got back from the Disney Store. They were having 40% off all the Holiday stuff and I also had a 20% coupon. I bought a few things and got out of there pretty cheap. I bought a mickey fleece throw, mickey antena toppers for my MIL, 2 holiday mugs and utensils for Jace.

Jace had his MD appt today. He's 33 inches in length and only 22.2 pounds. He's 75% for height and 10% for weight. I swear all his weight is in his cheeks too! LOL!! He had a horrible time. The moment the Dr came in he screamed and cried. The two shots were bad, but he had to have his blood tested (for the hereditary blood issues) and he was in complete melt down mode. He was clinging to me for life!! Once we left the Drs office he was fine. And tonight at dinner.....HE ATE PEAS!!!! I've been trying to get veggies in him forever and this is the first time he didn't refuse real veggies!! YIPPEE!

DisKim: I don't blame you for cancelling the party. HOpe you find Emily's book.
Fab: Hope your DH will be on the mend soon.
Nucpharm: Poor Emma! I hope she feels better soon.
Jill: Contacts for Meagan - she must be excited!! Hope Mr. Crankypants was happier after his nap.
Dizagain: Wow, listing is big news! You'll get it done. Good luck preparing - it sure is stressful.
Z: :grouphug:
J&D: beautiful pic of Jenna
Tamie: Love Tyler's tree photo. Jace is not that cooperative. I've tried the slide, truck, chairs, everything. Nothing good yet...but I'm determined.
SL: You have my vote and a good lead. Pretty dress.
Robin: Well aren't you Betty Crocker? Your posts make me want yummy snacks!
Lissawyn:
Val: Are you feeling any better?

I only responded to some of you - sorry. I need to go up and spend a little time w/DH before heading off to bed. He came home, we put Jace to bed, and I was out the door to Disney.

Have a good night all.

joats - good deals at the Disney store. Jace doesn't look skinny, you're right, it must be in those adorable cheeks!! Sorry the appt didn't go well. Poor guy.

nucpharm - I home Emma's vomit was a one time thing for you! No fun!

diskim - No, you aren't mean to cancel. If no one else can step up, then I think you should find a pizza place or something.

fab - Your man flu description is hilarious! I hope you DH gets better soon!

z - I hope your DH feels better too, maybe the frozen snickers will cure what ails him ;) No, we didn't use that picture for our Christmas card. I'll post a pic of our card.

jill - good luck with the contacts for Meagan!

lissawynn - Hi! I craved a drink too when I was pregnant. I felt guilty about it, but I wanted a big margarita! Meatloaf sounds yummy!

diz - Good luck with the house stuff. LOL about not telling your DH that your aunt is coming!

My parents came over for dinner tonight to entertain Tyler and I.

I'm off to finish my Christmas cards. I should have them done tonight thank goodness!

See ya!

Tamie

Here's our Christmas card -

img045.jpg

I had a friend drive me to the store today to pick up some groceries, and to Walgreens to pick up some medicine for DD and my xmas cards -- and OJ was on sale :thumbsup2 Then got home and remembered there were 3 more things I needed, so another friend is at Walmart right now picking those up for me.

I am so grateful to all the people and DIS moms who are helping me out right now. I can't tell you or thank you all enough!!

I have leads on two possible vans, keep your fingers and toes crossed that at least one works out! Maybe I'll even get to see them/test drive them, by Friday.

Zalansky - you know that no matter what we are here for you, you certainly will not depress us with your news, we want to share with you and support you. I'm glad you have siblings who can and are willing to help you go through this. :grouphug: My house is really small. Our play area is pretty much the kids rooms, and they bring stuff to the living room, so our play dates are usually small, but I don't mind, nor do the kids.

DisKim - I have an overly emotional DD too and I too let some things go when I should have had them checked earlier, it's so hard to know! Actually, I think it's smart of you to cancel the party when you know that it will overextend yourself. It's good to set limits and the fact you recognized that is very commendable! A restaurant sounds ideal to me! :thumbsup2

Nucpharm - I would have been the same way -- actually, I have been lately! Both kids are complaining of sore throats, AGAIN. Be aware that sore throats with some mild vomiting could be strep, as I've been there and done that...

Tamie - yeah for your Christmas cards! I picked some up today, using money my parents sent to pay for it. They didn't mind :thumbsup2 I like the card! BTW, your tree looks great!

Joats - Score on the peas! Leif's not much of a veggie guy either... WTG on the Disney store discounts!!

Robin - been meaning to tell you, those pics of Molly are adorable! She's a doll! WTG on the Wpsabi (I just cannot spell that thing). Wow Robin, that's a whole lot of baking! I don't know how you find the time. And how you can open and close the oven so much with Molly running around - Leif is always at my knee - ALWAYS!! Even in the kitchen he likes to play with the pots and pans while I cook. Of course, right now, I willnot complain at all about that, as I am cherishing every moment!

dizagain - when are you moving? Maybe one day you can come up and visit before then. I'd offer to meet you halfway, but not until after I get a car :rolleyes1

Fabumouse - wow, I don't know that I've ever known anyone to get the real "flu" - I hope dh feels better soon and that the rest of you don't get it! :wizard:

Jill - the fact that it's just been over a year for Meagan certainly doesn't make you a bad mom. It's so hard to know about things like eyes. And getting checked every year or two is a lot, I think, so personally, I think you are a great mom! I can't even believe you are sending another package, I am so grateful. When's the neurolgical (sp???) appt.? Glad the ent went well - sorryou have to go back for hearing test tho!

lissawynn - sorry you lost some of those pages, that bites :sad2:

nyprincess - I hope your dh is feeling better soon!

ryan, cabmom, disneyphd - hope all is well, miss all of you!

Tasha - Hi!

bnb - funny about the chocolate Mom high!! :goodvibes Hope you and Luke are feeling better soon. We have the hokey pokey Elmo and Leif loves it. I'm sure the new Elmo will be a huge hit with Celeste!

SL - Hope you win!

J&D - I'll put my kids on picture coloring patrol tomorrow so we can get some artwork out to the forces :thumbsup2 That picture of Jenna backwards is a classic, worth framing!

FF - hope things are doing well for you today and that you got someone over to take care of the septic problem

GM - I hope you are having fun at WDW - how could you not!! :Pinkbounc :cheer2:

gotta run.

I'm sick and my husband is just being lazy tonight so I had no time to get back on here and now I really have to go to bed. Why oh why is there not 'woman flu'!!!! I told my husband before he came home that I was getting a bad cold so he knew this, then just plopped down on the couch to watch stupid things he DVRed while I cooked, put Henry to bed and bathed Madison. I asked him to brush her teeth and put her to bed and he sat on the couch. I felt like screaming. I just wanted to sit down and finish addressing the Christmas cards. He finally did it only after I talked him through each step.

Now Henry is crying, which is so weird for him. Oh, and right after I posted he took 2 huge naps this afternoon. Go figure. Of course then it made me feel worse cause I thought maybe I was wrong. Well now he's screaming so I guess I should go.

Congrats, Robin & Ginamarie! :cheer2: My team barely made it. We were one of the teams that used the Ice Hotel and a variation of the fire and ice theme. I had suggested that we do something else since the fire and ice theme is very popular and has been done many times before, but my team thought that it would be original. I guess that is what everyone else was thinking. I think we have some pretty good ideas for the new challenge.

SL- Good luck with the results tomorrow! Your dress was beautiful.

Tamie- Beautiful card.

GLT- Thanks again for supporting the troops. I just received an e-mail from Jennifer's mom, and she said that some of the soldiers are getting to go home for Christmas. I'm so glad to hear that.

joats- Congrats to Jace for eating peas. Jenna loves them.

DisKim- Don't feel bad for cancelling.

zalansky- We don't have people over either for the same reasons you stated- 1. our house isn't big enough. My kitchen is so small (only 5x8) that if my DH and I are in there at the same time we usually end up bumping into one another. 2. our neighborhood isn't that great either- some of my DH's friends have called it Little Havana.   I can't wait until we move.

I would love to respond to everyone else, but WAPASADI has already kept me up too late again tonight. The game is back on, so I'll stop in when I can.

(I wrote this yesterday and didn’t get to posting)

Lets see if I can post today. I thought I was feeling better, but I actually went downhill instead of uphill :sad2: .

Mini vent: A company offered me a job for $3k a month starting yesterday, they begged me to come (I sent a resume to them before I even moved to FL) anyway, I told them that I can only stay for a month, because I had other obligations, they said that was fine I could catch them up, blah blah blah. I’d talked to several of the people at the company before. I accepted the job and when I got there and they saw me you could see in their faces that they were shocked (me being black), a couple even said that they could’ve sworn I was white when they spoke to me on the phone. Nonetheless, 5 minutes before I got home I got a phone call not to return. I can’t help but think that it was because of the color of my skin, sigh, I know I did a good job and I worked my @ss off and caught them up by a week in a day. Vent over.

We finally got the bed together, that thing was the most difficult thing to assemble ever! :badpc:

Justine- Don’t feel bad for letting Henry CIO, obviously he needs naps so we won’t be grumpy and you need your “alone” time as well to keep your sanity.

J&D - That is very nice of you to send out cards to the troop, I will talk to Val about it, I am so bad about mailing stuff. I have my best friends Christmas gift, Birthday gift and a gift from our last vacation still wrapped sitting in a box in my office. GLT’s gift is still sitting on the floor in the foyer waiting to be mailed. I am horrible. Surprisingly though the only things that get out on time are DIS exchanges I think I’m too afraid of being embarrassed so I mail it out on time. Oh I missed the challenge, is there a website to it?

(Today’s post)

I fully intended on writing a post to everyone today. However, due to some crazy circumstances Tess may be coming on Sunday or Tuesday. Her mother called in the wee hours of the morning and said she wants her gone now. So I’ve been looking at tickets today, I found a few for a very reasonable price but I can’t get a hold of Val because she is in some training thing today and is not answering her cell or text so I can’t book the flights.

We are so not ready for a kid, everything isn’t ready, we haven’t even painted yet, and I won’t have time to paint this week. We don’t have a car seat, or clothes, well we have clothes, but not for this weather. Somebody shot me! I suppose this is how people feel when they go into labor early eh?

Well, got a million things to do and not much time to do it, so I have to run. :moped:

Congrats on making it to round 2 of the WPASADI comp everyone! Nice job!!!! :cheer2: :woohoo: :bounce: :Pinkbounc :cheer2:

GLT - I’ll try my very best to get the package out to you this week, I hope it arrives on time. Sorry :guilty:

Congrats J&D, alice28, and ginamarie for your teams making it through to the next round. I read about the next challenge - sounds like a good one! I'm now tied for first in the dress competition.

Last night I finally got my Chex Mix made. DH has been begging for it for a month. I also finished most of my cards but there are a few addresses I have to find.

tkyes - Your Christmas card looks fantastic! Tyler is so handsome.

zalansky - :grouphug: Sorry about all that stuff with your dad.

alice28 - Glad you got your cable fixed. I hate calling all these technicians and finding out it was something I could do myself.

dizagain - How were the concerts?

lissawynn - Sorry you lost your yearbook pages.

llij - Hope the contacts work out for Meagan. They'll be easier for her than glasses when she plays sports. I rarely wear my glasses. Actually, I'm dying for Lasik surgery.

nucpharm - Sorry Emma got sick. :guilty:

fabumouse - Sorry the man flu turned into full blown flu. Hope your DH doesn't pass it around.

DisKim - I don't blame you for cancelling the party. I have a tiny house and hate having people in it getting my carpet dirty. I'm so glad Lucas' bday is in the summer so we can have outdoor parties.

joat - Congrats on Jace eating peas! Lucas is pretty much the same size as Jace. He doesn't look too skinny when he's dressed, but when he's naked you can definitely tell he needs a little meat on his bones.

glt - Hope one of the vans comes through for you.

justhat - Hope you feel better soon.

J&D - I'll be checking out that link today.

Hi to all the other moms!

I am running so behind this morning, so forgive if this is brief--ya'll know I'll catch up later!

Emma's sickness (crossing my fingers) seems to be just have been a one time thing. She looked like she didn't feel well last night and went to bed early. but then she got up early and told me she didn't feel bad anymore. SO, we're going to try to go to gymnastics today as it's the last class until the new year.

icebrat--WOW on being able to get Tess early! I can't believe that her mother wants her "gone"--can't even imagine! But it sounds as if Tess will be welcomed with open arms into your household! Don't worry about all the "stuff" that needs to be done--it will get done eventually--especially the painting. All you really need is the carseat and an outfit or two to get you by--and then you can go crazy shopping. Just go get that little one--how fun that she could spend the holidays with you and DP--Oh, and WTH on that job--don't we live in the 21st century--some people! I would have been :furious: . You're better off!

tamie--made the thumbprints last night and oh, wow! They are wonderful--I guess anything made with 3 sticks of butter can't be bad!

Okay, so I really got to go get ready! Been procrastinating too long! Hi to everyone else--will check in around lunchtime!

Icebrat - that's insane about the job. I know dh (can I officially start saying xdh??) "sounds white" on the phone and he will have people be surprised that he's black. Most of us who don't live with it daily don't realize that there really are still people out there who still are predijuce (can't even spell it, nevermind think it). The town we moved to in Wisconsin as come a long way in the last 7 years we've lived here, but we still here the term "colored" Here it's more a naive thing - but back to you - I'm so sorry about the job, you'd think that'd make them keep you as it "looks" good for them to be diverse PLUS you kicked butt. :guilty: So sorry you have to deal with that.

:cheer2: Yeah on Tess coming!!!! Don't worry about the painting, I promise Tess won't mind one iota!! And a carseat is quick and easy to pick up, just look for one with a 5-point harness that's easy for you to lock and unlock.

J&D - can't wait to see the ideas for the new challenge

SL - haven't checked in, when's the winning dress being announced? Yum on the chex mix, and WTG on the cards.

nucpharm - hope gymnastics goes well and there are no more sick episodes!

justhat - I hope Henry slept for you last night.

OK< gotta go, I'm in HUGE trouble. I have an article due today and with all my stress and such I totally forgot about it. I haven't even done the interviews yet. So hopefully DS and Leif will cooperate for me and I can get slamming on it.

Question for you moms with older boys (sorry if TMI) :bitelip: -- DS is obsessed with playing with himself. He gets that it should be in private, but he will purposely go in his room and close the door to "play." He'll be 4 in just a few weeks. Any suggestions? Is this normal? I'm guessing it is, but some reassurance would be helpful.

Good morning moms!

I was just going to lurk and see how you were all doing and saw Icebrat's post about Tess coming early and I got excited! :teeth: I know it is overwhelming but things will work themselves out. Keep us posted on whether she comes soon or not. And don't worry about the painting all all that stuff. That will get done. Also I CANNOT believe that company. I am dying to know what company it is since I live here. Unreal, I tell you.

J&D - had to put a little sidenote in to you - funny but we also call our neighborhood Little Havana - or more recently Little Tijuana. I am not joking when I say there are some people who have roosters running around their yards freely and naturally c0ck-a-doodle-dooing first thing in the morning. It is ridiculous. I can't wait to move either and when we do, I will certainly have friends over.

Funny, when I posted about the sound roosters make, it got bleeped out! :rotfl: So I had to be creative.

Henry's sleeping so hopefully I can get some replies done now. Of course not only did he nap practically all of yesterday afternoon but now he's been sleeping around 30 minutes in his carseat. So that makes me feel especially bad cause now I'm thinking maybe he's been a bad napper lately cause he's been sick. He's had this cough since 11/14 and he was at the dr last week and she said he was fine, but really, when is it going away? I'm gonna call their nurse advice and see if we should give him something, though I doubt it. His lungs were clear and they're sorta anti-meds at our ped so I think they'll just say to stick it out. But since I am sick now, if he feels like this then no wonder he can't sleep.

Icebrat - Wow, that would be really soon to get Tess. I think it's actually harder for you than someone in early labor cause at least with Henry (who was a month early) I had 8 months to understand he was coming, mentally prepare, get stuff together, etc. You've had less than a month! I hope it all works out with the flights and stuff for you, and really, don't worry about not having everything ready and perfect. In fact, it might even be a good thing cause you can get some input from Tess about paint color, decorations, etc. Within reason I mean. And sorry about the job too, that's ridiculous.

SL - I hope you win the dress competition! I voted for you yesterday. I'll try to scrounge up some other voted for you today if I can.

Congrats to all the other wpasadi players/teams!! I hope our 3 mommies make it to the end!

Jill - Don't feel badly about being a couple of months late with Meagan's eye dr. It's not like you waited 5 years, I can't believe they'd try to make you feel guilty. Good luck with the contacts for her. What are your plans for WDW? You're going to the MVMCP on the 21st right? We're eating smack in the middle of it (my husband made that ADR and loves LTT so decided eating there at 8:10 would be a good idea  ) but hopefully we can meet up either sometime that night or some other time that week.

The boy is up so I'll be back later.
