The Official May 2015 Thread!!

Planning our first family trip for May 1-9 2015! We're a family of 4 & the kids will be 5 & 6 at the time of the trip. Just bought our tickets at the old rate on Undercover Tourist this morning, I'm thinking there will be another increase before May '15 in addition to the one over the weekend so I'm glad we saved a bit there.

Here's my plan for booking everything else- any advice, suggestions, critiques are welcome: I'm working on accumulating enough Amtrak Rewards points to completely cover the Auto Train (with bedrooms!) there & back. I remember last year in the fall, a bunch of travel sites offered 10% cash back through Upromise (Expedia, Travelocity, etc.) We'd really like to stay at AoA in a LM room and it looks like there are never any discounts on those. I'm hoping to get an AoA LM room using a travel site offering 10% back through Upromise and get it booked before our 180 days so I can make ADRs.

It's still a bit away, but now that we bought tickets it's getting exciting!

We are staying May 2- May 9 at AoA little Mermaid Room!! How exciting. It will be me and my two daughters (im a single mom ) and their ages when we go will be 7 and 8 :):cheer2:

Am I reading correctly that some of you already booked? How is that possible then they have not released the dates yet?Anyone have any clue when they will release 2015 dates?

We are planning on May 28-June 2. Possibly saying at All Stars movies. It will be myself, DH, DS-5 and DS-7. This will be their 3rd trip!

I have only booked my room only!

So happy to find this thread! :yay:

I was on the May 2013 thread you started; I can't believe it's almost been a year since that trip! Hopefully that means May 2015 will come quickly :goodvibes

Our goal is: May 19th-25th. We will stay either at AS Music in a family suite (did this in 2011) or in a condo at Windsor Hills (did this last year). We loved both of those experiences for different reasons and aren't sure which would be the best fit for us for this next trip so we are somewhat undecided for the time being. :)

Those trip dates are the same days we were at WDW last year which worked out well for us for several reasons (primarily related to our kids' school calendar) so we'll stick to those dates for now.
We were considering pushing this next WDW trip back to September 2015 to hopefully score free dining along with value season rates or maybe even to November/December 2015 to visit while all the holiday festivities are taking place; but we just loved WDW in May and felt that both the weather and crowds were manageable. Also, by the time spring rolls around we are really ready for a vacation and it seems nice to make it down to WDW before the summer vacation crowds are in full force. This will be our new baby's first trip and we can't wait to take her to meet the Mouse! Happy planning everyone!

I remembered you as soon as your name popped up! Glad to see you're joining us again!! Congrats on your new bundle of joy!:lovestruc

I'm with you on the dates in May. It just works out so much better with our school. I would love to visit in Nov/Dec, but May works better for our schedules. I will get you added to the dance party!

i AM SO0OOOO GLAD I FOUND THIS THREAD, I STARTED PLANNING MY MAY 2015 VACATION. I AM GOING MAY 2- 9 STAYING AT ART OF ANIMATION LITTLE MERMAID ROOM AND I HAVE ALREADY BOOKED MY ROOM. IT WILL BE MYSELF AND MY TWO DAUGHTERS!!!! DO YOU HAVE A FACEBOOK PAGE AS WELL FOR MAY 2015?

I love to see someone as excited as I am!!! I don't have a facebook page yet. I will get you added to the party list! Looks like you are going to have alot of company when you go! :) Several people are heading down the same week.

My husband thinks I've totally lost my mind. I have some new olay makeup removing wipes that remind me of the smell of the Grand Floridian. I told him about them and he said, "No one thinks simple smells like that remind them of Disney.":scared1: Do you have something that the smell reminds you of Disney?

Absolutely! You know, you go on vacation, you pack all your toiletries. A few months later I open a bottle of Bath and Body Works Coconut Lime Verbena. And I am INSTANTLY taken back to that vacation. Now I pack it on purpose. It's my Disney scent.

Last year my husband must have packed some Old Spice liquid soap. Just a few weeks ago, he used it again, and the smell reminded me of Disney.

It's funny how a certain scent brings back memories. It's the same with tastes, I think. When at Disney, we always drink the resort coffee, even though we're not fond of it. But, my husband must use half and half there rather than milk. I always have to have that coffee when we're there because my taste buds need to have that reminder of "Disney coffee". It's not the same here. :)

Dreaming, reading the Dis, Dreaming, estimating cost on Disney, Dreaming, deciding on which meal plan to get, Dreaming, pricing a Mod hotel instead of Value, Dreaming. . .

My husband is Disney burned out. We've been 9 times in 12 years. So, I dream until he agrees. He will, he does love it, he just doesn't want to think of it more than a year away. Whereas, I can think/dream of it daily. :)

What is everyone doing to plan their trip?

Planning our meals, checking the Disboards everyday, looking at menus (I have a picky one), listening to sorceror radio to get my fix, checking into the new fp+, trying to decide which resort to stay at, and looking for deals to come out. I also annoy the devil out of my husband by telling him the daily countdown to our next trip.;)

My DH is more ready to go than I am (if that's possible). My reasons not to go sooner are financial. He called me the other day to let me know the deal for Disney card holders starting this June. You know, just to let me know. I was actually going to look up how much it would cost us this year. But, I think it was only available for agents/Disney staff to see.

Can you please change my hotel to Pop Century? I had written the wrong thing earlier.

I'm just thinking about how nice it will going with no one in diapers this time!

I'm reading that 2015 dates won't be released until close to summertime this year. But, this is not the first time we planned a trip so far in advance. I don't know much about the new fast pass. Researching that may help the time pass.

I still don't understand how some have booked rooms already (other than special needs).

I think if you call you can book a room only, but it is priced off of this years pricing. I believe the price can change once the rates for 2015 are released.

This is correct.
You can book room only at 499 days out. You can also book packages at 365 days out, but like room only, it is also based off the current year prices and will automatically adjust once prices come out.

Wife told me today, 82 days until we can book our DVC room.

Also our dates changed: May 5th-11th everything else is the same (AKV, Savannah view). We needed to add a travel day to fly out. Closest airport that Southwest flies out of is stopping nonstop to MCO. So we have to drive to Chicago Midway and stay overnight before going down. If they change it back, we will probably add POP on for just one night.

I know which restraints we are going too so now we are looking at menus
