***the official may 2013 thread***

Does anyone know if historically in May if they ever keep MK open to the wee hours of the morning?

If I recall correctly when I was there last year in May MK was only open until 1am when they had an extra magic evening. I think they are cutting evening magic hours down to 2 from 3; so will likely only be opening until midnight? But that's a guess.

I think the slower crowds in May mean they don't need to stay open that late.

Does anyone have any experience of the weather at wdw in early May? We usually vacation in October so not sure what to pack! The climate averages online are never a match for actual experience! Tia

Last time we went it was early May. It was high 80s low 90s the whole time. We usually went back to the resort to swim mid day and then returned to the park in the evening, except for a few days where we stayed all day long. I think I might have put on a jacket one morning, but that was after we had been there for over a week and I think my body just adjusted to the warmth so the 65* weather that morning was just too cold. :lmao: My family however made fun of me that morning, because they were all in tank tops and shorts. But they did regret it when we had to wait in the shade to get into the park for our dining reservations. Then the younger girls were cold.

Each night was warm enough for the kids to swim though, so it didn't really get to cold at night. On our last day it got so hot though I think it was 97*, we really went through the water that day. It may have felt hotter than it was because we were in Epcot WS that day, and it always seems hot then.

Last April over Easter break we went to visit my mom and went to Sea world and Aquatica for a few days and it was really warm then too. But it wasn't so hot you didn't want to be in a park.

It doesn't look like it this year. The latest that the calendar shows is midnight (up until May 7th that is... I didn't check after that date). :sad2: You can check out www.easywdw.com for the crowd calendars and such. He has a list of the hours already, and I don't think they will change much before May. Although we can hope!!

Thanks that is a great help! I was wondering if it was warm enough to do the water parks looks like we might be in luck! I love that when you go back in the afternoon to the pool. We miss that when the weather is cooler.

Is anyone interested in making a facebook group for May 2013 Disers? I'm not sure if some people are on there more than here or not. I just found and April 2013 group, and I thought it was a good idea. ;)

There is a Disney May 2013 Facebook group already. Come join us.

We actually added on the WP&M option instead of the Park Hopper because we knew that it was going to be warm enough to swim. Now the problem is going to come in where I think that the kids are only going to want to go to the water park and Disney Quest.... :lmao:

Only Typhoon Lagoon is open while we will be there, unless it opens before May 7th when we leave we will miss Blizzard Beach this time.

Great re adding on WP&M option! We bought a premium annual pass as DVC were doing a deal so I think we get the water parks with that. We are excited to go to TL as its always closed for maintenance when we come later in the year! disneyquest sounds fun!

I want to join in on the countdown. My DH, DS (8) DD (7) and I will be at POR from May 15 to May 22nd. My kids haven't been since they were 3 & 4 and my DH has never been. Absolutely can't wait to share this first vacation for our "new" family.

YAY! We'll be there part of the same time (May 18-25) - ALMOST booked POR as well - but ended up with a great deal on a Cars Family Suite at Art of Animation...

Will be me & DH, DS (8) & DS (7) - and it will be our first little vacation for OUR "new" family, too - sounds like a very similar situation and our kids are exactly the same age. (DH and I just married last August - and we went on a cruise in June - by ourselves - for a late honeymoon/post-cancer cruise - but now we get to take the chicklets to WDW!!!)

Asking for a friend of mine, shes kinda overwhelmed by the boards lol think she will do better with a FB page :) Thanks guys! Wish I was going in May but we are aiming for late November 2013 instead.

Has anyone had any luck getting a breakfast CRT reservation for 5/14/2013 or later? I've called and tried online and all they can say is that it looks like they haven't opened yet for breakfast or lunch (though dinner is available). Just curious and partly worried since the phone operator mentioned they might be closed for a special event...

I was able to book breakfast for May 19th at CRT but not the 15th.

Yes there is. Just have her search for the group and ask to join. It is called 'Disney May 2013'.

Even though I wish I was leaving for Disney like TOMORROW, the on good thing about it being still a little ways off is it will make the after Christmas, return to normal life routine more bearable cause we all still have something very exciting to look forward to!

Edit: Just realized that my ticker now says FOUR months, 4 weeks...not even 5 months away now!
