***the official may 2013 thread***

We are now planning for the week before Memorial Day. We like the idea of returning from Disney and still having the holiday weekend to relax, cookout, and unpack before returning to school/work Tuesday ;) I made our ADRs this morning and was also able to get the restaurants and time slots we wanted. Right now I have a room only reservation for Art of Animation booked with a AAA discount and a reservation for a deluxe 2 bedroom over at Wyndham Bonnet Creek (our back up plan depending on what discounts Disney offers for May ;)) I also used easy WDW's crowd calendar/park recommendations to plan our park days and ADRs. So now I am just going to wait and see what promotions Disney offers once the holidays are over.
DH and I want to surprise the kids this time. This will be our 2nd family trip to WDW and I am excited that our youngest child is now 40 inches tall :cool1: We plan on surprising the kids with a reveal on Easter Sunday after dinner. :goodvibes

Consider yourselves lucky I know plenty of kids who would do more than shrug their shoulders and take what mom & dad just said and NOT ask more questions.
I always tell people going to WDW and thinking about 1st wknd in June what they will encounter so they are prepared especially with young kids.I'd feel like crap if I didn't tell them.Like your parents it is up to them how to handle it. Information is all it is :wave2:

Again, WHAT questions exactly are the kids going to ask that would make you "feel like crap" if you didn't warn them about the potential for these questions. Honestly, even if kids tend to ask questions, I really think Disneyworld is the LAST place where they would want to hear a long winded explanation from their parents on anything.

Just a little confused cause I'm sure you would see two people kissing SOMEWHERE in Disneyworld any given day of the year, so kids could theoretically ask whatever questions they have about why adults kiss anytime. Why do you make a point to warn people about June 1st? :confused3

Honestly I'm confused how you don't think ANY kids would have more than 1 question.:confused3

Honestly I'm confused how you don't think ANY kids would have more than 1 question.:confused3

Oh goodness I'm not saying kids don't ask questions..thats all they do, all day, all the time haha

As this is such normal child behaviour, and kids are bound to ask questions at anytime,I'm confused why you would make a special point to warn people to stay away these particular days to avoid questions. Thats why I'm wondering what questions could POSSIBLY make parents want to avoid the park?

Well that would be questions about the gay lifestyle. If they are there THAT weekend it will be in their faces ALL weekend. And for SOME it would ruin their fun.The kids WOULD ask questions and MAYBE again and again.
We obviously do not see the same things here so take care.

Oh OK "the gay lifestyle". Well in that case I fully support you warning people then-because if they are homophobic, its probably more comfortable for EVERYONE enjoying the park that day if those people just stay home and we can hope their kids don't develop the same intolerance :)

Well it's not intolerance. It's something you can't understand apparently.Your way or the highway right!

If it would 'ruin somebody's fun' to have to answer questions about "the gay lifestyle" to their kids... yes, that is intolerance... it's also lazy parenting. :confused3

No I don't think so. It's more complicated than that for SOME PEOPLE(Good people) and apparently you disagree ....good for you.:cool1:

Are you implying that if someone disagrees with your OPINION that they are not "good people"? Talk about intolerance! Wow. You're proving someone else's point for them. I really thing everyone should just quit right now. This is hardly the place to try to teach old dogs new tricks. :confused3

WOW full week Have fun !!!

It's fine, not being considered "good people" by someone on a message board will not impact my enjoyment of my trip in any way!

Happy holidays! :thumbsup2

For anyone who has been there in May, can you advise how long I can expect to wait in line? I know it depends on the ride, so I'll list a few examples:

MK-All the Mountains, Peter Pan, POTC, HM, mICKEYS pHILHARMGIC

DHS-Star Tours, RnR Coaster, ToT,TSM

AK- EE, Safari, KRR

Thanks!

Edit: I'll be there May 6-10, if that helps, M-F

We always go in early May and while I can't give actual wait times, I can say that it seems to be a slower time in the parks.

That said - WE'RE IN. Early May, dates and place (likely to be one of the POs, maybe AoA) to be decided but oh yeah, we're in!
