***the official may 2013 thread***

I was just wondering.....if we are traveling to DW for the 12th to the 25th and want to make reservations on the 18th 21st 23rd etc

Do we need to call 180 days before each of those days to book it or can we book them all on the 180 days before the 18th?

You should be able to call now. We were told they started taking reservations last week for that time period.

I am going to be down there in may for my wedding anniversary I was wonder if anybody had any dining recommendations for our anniversary dinner. There is a huge problem hubby. He is a very picky eater and is a hamburger(meat and potatoes) kind of guy. I would love to do a nice signature restaurant but don't want to pay a lot if he is not going to like anything off the menu.

P.s he really is just meat and potatoes. No greens, nothing with sauces or too spicy. He hates mayonnaise and butter. White bread only. I on the other hand can try anything, I don't like meat but love seafood

Sounds like ESPN Zone for you two !! Something nicer? Yachtsman's Steakhouse is good. Meat and Potatoes

It's official for us!!! We booked our May trip last night!! We will be staying at POR. Still hoping for a discount! pixiedust: But we're going regardless! I will be able to make our ADRs next Friday!

Made our first ADR today! :cool1:

We're staying off-site so we have to call every day.

2:00pm lunch at Rainforest Cafe in Animal Kingdom on Thursday, May 16th, is ours!!

Also made hotel reservations in St. Augustine for Friday night, May 10th!! Will drive there from Virginia -- around 10 hours or so -- and spend the night. My hubby went to college there so he has several friends who still live in the area and we will probably meet up with them for dinner. Spend the next day at the beach and seeing all the attractions...and then drive to Orlando late Saturday afternoon.

NOW I'm getting excited!!! :hyper:

Crossing fingers for Hollywood & Vine reservations tomorrow!

A two year old probably won't notice but a 6 year old will ask questions. Do you really want to have that talk at the MK ?? It's up to the individual parent of course.Just letting the OP know because for SOME it would be a problem.Sorry if you disagree

If the parent handles the situation correctly, "that talk" should last all of about 30 seconds..

Child: Mom, why are those two men kissing each other?
Parent: I guess they must love each other
Child: That's weird!
Parent: No its not..some men love women, some men love men,and some women love women
Child: Oh, OK

Most 6 year olds aren't usually too suspicious regarding what their parents tell them, so as long as you have the attitude that its normal, your kids will too.

We got Play & Dine at Hollywood & Vine!! :cool1:

2:00pm lunch on Friday, May 17th!!!

Will just be myself, hubby, and youngest daughter. Three oldest kids will be ((hopefully!!)) enjoying all the Star Wars Weekend events! They'll be content having a quality lunch consisting of hot dogs, cotton candy, and ice cream. :rotfl2:

We're finished with all the reservation-making! Now have to save up our money to pay the balance on the townhouse rental & purchase our Disney tickets in March!

Just finished booking for May 18-25, staying at All Star Music. This is our first time staying at a Value. Usually stay at POFQ, but we wanted to have more days, so I decided to try a Value. :confused3 I hope everything goes good, all we usually do is sleep there anyways.:banana::banana::banana:

Stayed at ASM once when Cheerleading comp was in town.3 mornings in a row woke up early to the girls practicing on every available space. It was actually cool (we are early risers anyway) Hope you have fun we will be there same week .Here's to 85 and sunny :)

That sounds really cool, I used to be a cheerleader, I would really enjoy that. Hope you have a great time too!!

If only talks with kids were that simple:bitelip:
6-7-8-9 not sure exactly what age but guessing it WOULD lead to questions and maybe more questions. For a first timer going to WDW my guess is they would ,probably, want to avoid that weekend or at least know about it in adavance.

Our fav is POFQ as well. This will be our first stay at ASMu. I'm hoping for the Jazz building. It seems reminiscent of POFQ.

LOL funny you should say that, because this was the EXACT conversation I had with my mom when she told me what gay meant. She basically said "Same reason Mommy and Daddy kiss-because they love each other" I never thought to question it further. Maybe I'm a simpleton? lol

What kind of questions is it that you think would arise that would make a parent want to avoid Disney rather than answer them? :confused3

I don't think you're a simpleton at all. None of my 3 girls asked questions either after given the same answer your mom gave you. In fact, I don't know of any of my friends kids who did either. :)

Thank you :) And might I add, this conversation with my Mom was 25 years ago, when openly gay couples were far less common to see in public. I think most kids today would have SOME exposure to the concept of gay at a young age, whether it be through TV, or a friend's two moms, etc. They won't think its weird unless the adults in their life give them a reason to think that way.

Consider yourselves lucky I know plenty of kids who would do more than shrug their shoulders and take what mom & dad just said and NOT ask more questions.
I always tell people going to WDW and thinking about 1st wknd in June what they will encounter so they are prepared especially with young kids.I'd feel like crap if I didn't tell them.Like your parents it is up to them how to handle it. Information is all it is :wave2:
