The Official LOST Season Five *No Spoilers* Thread

I loved tonight's episoide! I was hoping to get on here to tons of comments, but maybe they will trickle in tomorrow...

Horace Godspeed - how did he show up previously? I cannot recall but do remember the name.

Now we know why The Others always knew the names of the Losties during Season 1/2. Richard knows several of them from the past! Crazy...

When The Others, led by Ben, took captive some of the Losties (Michael helped with this so he and Walt could go free), they took this exact group right?

I really want to go watch previous seasons now! I want to see their reactions when they see Richard for the first time, see what they think of the houses, etc.

I cracked up when Sawyer called Richard "your friend with the eyeliner" too! :rotfl2:

I like Sawyer/Juliette - I hope Sawyer doesn't go back on his speech to Horace. One thing in it I found interesting was Sawyer said, "and she's never coming back." Like he had given up hope that Locke was really bringing them back...
So how does this time travel thing work? I don't think they would remember being in the DI until the were physically there?

Does anyone think Amy & Horace's baby will be someone we know? I've been reading the lostpedia forums and they're coming up with all kinds of crazy names!

Also, I'm not sure I get the whole Horace-finding-necklace-getting-drunk-and-blowing-up-trees thing. It seems like he might've been upset over something else?

UGH, I should stay off those fansites. They get all kinds of questions swirling around in my head.

OK, my first thought when seeing Amy pregnant was that the baby is Jacob. Anyone else? I know the hostiles are already there and know of Jacob but I'm having trouble dismissing it. Horace looks like Jacob, he built the cabin, the baby was a boy... It's screaming at me.

I don't like Juliette but I will be ticked if they start up again with the love triangles between Sawyer/Kate/Jack, especially after his saying he was over her.

ETA- Where have we seen that necklace before? I want to say on Jacob but I think that is my mind playing tricks on me.

Is Horace the same actor as way back when? He seemed different.

Horace Godspeed - how did he show up previously? I cannot recall but do remember the name.

Yea, it's the same actor portraying Horace as before. Horace and his wife, Olivia(I wonder what happened to her now that he is with Amy) came upon Ben's parents in Portland as Ben's Mom went into premature labor. Then Horace later got Roger Linus(Ben's Dad) a job with the Dharma Initiative. Horace was killed during "The Purge".

I don't think so. Mainly because of the age thing. In 1977, when Amy had her baby, Ben would be in his teens. And I always thought of Jacob as older than Ben. But who knows with this show.:happytv:

I liked this episode. Unfortunately, they're going to restart the whole Jack, Kate, Sawyer love triangle but Juliette will be in to, so the love square will be annoying. I like Sawyer with Juliette.

I am curious who Amy and Horace's baby is. At first I thought he must be important since he's the only baby born on the island, but then I remembered that Alex was born on the island too.

I'm disappointed there's no episode next week.

See I know something is off and yet it calls to me. LOL But wasn't the baby born in 1974? I put Jacob at around 50 in my mind, but really we haven't seen him enough to know- he could easily be a 30something. Look at how people look when they're held captive or whatever, usually much older than they are.

Okay you look at other sites, you can feel my pain.

Amy and Horace's baby is prolly someone we know but Horace and Olivia musta got a divorce. Olivia was his wife when they "happened" upon Ben being born. Olivia is not dead when Ben is about 10 cuz she becomes his teacher. I'm guestimating that a year or two AFTER Ben is on the Island Charlotte is born. 4-5 yrs later Sawyer, Miles, Juliette, and Dan find them.

That would mean that the Horace we see in 1977 had been divorced for about

Nevermind, I'm confused again...

Sawyer told Juliette it was 1974. Daniel seeing Charlotte as a child, that's wrong. If they are in 1974, the little red-head Daniel was watching looked to be 3-4 years old. That would make Charlotte 38-39 year old. I don't think so. At MOST Charlotte may have been thirty, but not any older. Do we know what year Ben was born? I am thinking it was late 60's. Ben was just a small boy in 1974.

So, why do you think Amy was able to have the baby and live? She was being sent off the Island to have the baby, so I assume the childbirth problem exsisted then. But then, Horace didn't seem concerend when Sawyer told him the baby had been born. I'm so confused!

NO LOST NEXT WEEK?????:scared1: What's going on? Is it March Madness already?

I don't want to spoil it for the folks on the West coast, so the only thing I'll say is I loved it when Sawyer called Richard "eyeliner dude"!:lmao:

So many good Sawyer nicknames last night. Also loved when he calle Miles "Bonzai"!

WOW.

Hahahahaha. Here we are obsessing over who the bag lady is, and it's some random chick that we don't know!
(

My DD and I laughed when they pulled the bag off the lady's head - we were on the edge of our seat and when we saw who it was, my DD proclaimed "Well she's a big fat nobody!"

I agree. Honestly, Sawyer and Kate only knew each other for a grand total of 101 days. I don't think it would take him that long to get over her. And I'm content(and insanely jealous:rolleyes1)with a Juliet/Sawyer love match. And the boy cleans up nice. Nice new glasses and clean, combed hair. :lovestrucWould have liked a shirtless shot though.:thumbsup2

Loved Sawyer's "nerdy" look last night! And I agree with you - I really like him with Juliet. Kate just better stay the hell out of that!

I think the identity of the baby boy who was born is going to be important; but it can't be someone that the survivors know, right? We would have seen a reaction from them if they had heard that Amy named the baby "Jacob" or "Ben".

My other question is this: Sawyer and the gang seemed content with living among the Dharma people while waiting for Locke to return with the Oceanic Six. Why are they not concerned about the upcoming purge that they know Ben will eventually plan? They know it's going to happen; Daniel said "whatever it supposed to happen is going to happen." I know they have no idea when Locke could come back, but why would they be so comfortable living with Dharma? I would think that they would want to get the heck out of there. And where was Ben anyway?

The purge happened in 1992. They have almost 20 years to worry about it. Dharma gave them shelter and food. Why wouldn't they make themselves comfortable there? As far as I can see, Dharma is a bunch of people taking aprt in some kind of experiment. Not dangerous people. (maybe the Asian dude, Dr. whatshisname is a bad guy, but the everday people seem friendly enough. Now, the Other's is a different story. Which makes me ask this.....

The Other's are a nasty bunch that will kill you the second they lay eyes on you, why does Richard always seem so nice?

Hated the "clean" Sawyer! He looks much better as a dirty boy! Plus, he was a changed man, kind, caring, even fell in love with Juliette! What's up with that?? I want my dirty boy back!

Do these losties know of the purge? I know that Locke knew from his time with Ben and the others, but did Sawer et al even know about it?

ITA - it's somebody important, and when we hear the name, we'll all be in shock. Has to be somebody connected to the Losties.

Ok, so it's 1974 and Sawyer, et al have joined Dharma. Ben hasn't shown up on the island yet as a little boy, has he? I wonder how the Losties will react when they DO see Ben. And the way I understand the time travel thing: the Losties will know who Ben is since they've already been to the future, but since Ben is experiencing 1974 for the first time, he won't have any idea who they are, right? I wonder how they'll go and "add in" the Losties to events we've already seen in Seasons 1-4? Remember when Nikki and Paolo were featured, they added them in back in the scenes from when the plane first crashed.

And I still think somehow Richard IS Jacob. Like Disney1fan2002 said, the Others are pretty nasty, but Richard is always calm and nice.

You know, I surprisingly liked the Sawyer/Juliet match myself! I never did warm up to her until this season when she seemed so caring towards everyone, and then allowed Sawyer to find his own as a leader. I kept saying as the show was going on, "Ugh, please don't let them hook up, please!" but when they did, I was okay with it and even a little charmed. Then I was annoyed when he looked all gaga over Kate's arrival.

OK, the time thing confused me, until now. When the time flashes stopped, and Sawyer was talking Juliette into staying for two weeks, he said it was 1974. It didn't occur to me to add three years to the time of Amy's childbirth. That was 1977. (duh) Now, I recall, Ben came to the island with his dad when he was about 10-12 years old. I'm thimking Ben is more my age, or a little younger, which makes me guess he was born between 1968-1970. That would put him a couple years away from being on the Island.

I don't think child-Ben is on the Island yet.

You think Ben is only in his late 30s? I had him pegged to be around late 40s, 50 tops. I'm thinking Jack and Sawyer are late 30s to early 40s themselves; and Ben looks older than them.

And that was going to lead me to my next comment about you mentioning the purge was in 1992? It was? I must have missed that info. But I still would have thought Ben would be on the island already when Sawyer and the gang popped in. I admit, I'm not good at keeping up with the timeline, but I had just thought the purge had happening much earlier.

Yes, I think Ben is just around 40. I don't think he is 50, no way!

The purge happened in 1992, because Horace came to Locke and told him he had been dead for 12 years. (This was before the rescue, so it was 2004)

.

I have two thoughts about this. One is that the chemical used in the purge is what is causing the problems with the births and the other is that somehow the Island wants this particular child, so it is allowed to be born. That thought goes well into the idea that the baby is someone important and that we possibly know from the future.

Interesting that the Dharma people called the Others hostile natives. I kinda had it in my head that it was really Ben's leadership that caused them to be not so nice. I wonder who would have fostered the truce between the Others and the Dharma people. I really wish we knew who was behind the whole Dharma thing and how they are connected. :confused3

Our heater is still broke so we got space heaters and sent the kids upstairs so we could watch lost on our tivo :goodvibes . But wouldn't you know it that about half way through we lost video for about 10-15 minutes :headache: We had sound but no video. Luckily my DH is good with downloading things :rolleyes1

I am going with Lindsey.
But I will add a disclaimer that any female that we have or have not seen is also a possibility just so that I wont be wrong. ;)

HAHAHA I was RIGHT!!!

I kept thinking Jacop too. But I really have nothing to back it up. :confused3 I can't remember the necklace either but I am sure it is significant!

Ben was born in the 60's from "The man behind the curtain" episode. Ben arrived on the island with his dad in 76-77 http://lostpedia.wikia.com/wiki/Timeline:Pre-crash
In "Confirmed Dead" Ben says that Charlotte Lewis was born July 2, 1979. HMMM that doesn't match Daniel seeing her at 3-4 years old in 1977?? :rolleyes1

I'm pretty sure its the same group. I need more time to rewatch the past seasons. :rotfl:

I can't wait for the Losties to see Ben come to the Island as a little boy. Maybe that will be the reason Ben seems to know them and have the files about them....because he will know to keep a close eye on them in the future.

I'm pretty sure its the same group.

Not quite. Hurley was on the list, but he was sent back. He was a messenger boy. Sun was not on the list. Wasn't it Jack, Sawyer, Kate and Sayiid?

Of those four, Sawyer is the only one that has joined Dharma. Sawyer did not get off the island, so the Other's could not of wanted him to prevent him form leaving, as he never left.
