The Official Lime Lovin' Croc Exchange

I'm so sorry to say that FLORA too did not make her destination in Georgia on time. I shipped her with a week to go, priority mail with USPS which is how I got her when I had her in October and how I sent her to the next person back in October with no problems...so poor mouseaddicts had to go their trip without Flora.

I never considered UPS.

I guess from now on, though I've never had a problem with other shipments (I'm a big ebayer) delivery confirmation and tracking is a must.

I hope she eventually got where she needs to be so the next Dis'er can get her.

But now I see how slow the mail can really be. I thought 7 days was plenty..

What's up with the Post Office - how could something priority mail not make it in a week! Here's what the usps website says about priority mail:

Now you can have delivery of documents and packages made in 2 to 3 days. Low flat-rate shipping is also available with Priority Mail for any destination and any weight up to a 70 lb. maximum when you use either Flat Rate Envelopes or Flat Rate Boxes.

Print a shipping label online and get Delivery Confirmation™ service at no additional cost!

Yikes!!! How can they say it's 2-3 days????? Was it over a holiday??

Now in the past we've sent Flora via FedEx with overnight delivery and that is our plan this time as well. IMO, it's well worth the cost to avoid the disappointment. I sent an envelope to the person before me so it's not like I'm asking someone else to pay the shipping. And I'll likely send her off to the next person that way as well. I just know how disappointed my kids would be if we didn't get her on time and I would hate to see anyone else's kids in that situation either!

Okay, so what IS the status of FLORA at this point? Is she MIA, or does someone actually have her in hand? I'm supposed to have her June 8-14, and just want to see where everything stands.

Thanks!

Tina

I totally don't understand how she wasn't there with time to spare. I haven't heard back from mouseaddicts if she has reached their house. 3-4 days is what the shipping time should be. PA to GA. Not THAT far...even so, if it was far it still should have shipped in time. All I can think of is it went to the wrong house...but I had the correct addy!???
I'll PM mouseaddicts and see if they have her.

live and learn. so sorry....

I'm glad I'm not the only one wondering why the croc hasn't shown up after a week when it should only take 3 days max. I get and send packages to the states all the time from England and it only take 5 to 7 days. I'll mark Flora as lost for the time being. Let me pm mouseaddicts and see if they have Flora otherwise I have Feliz here in England, if I don't hear back by Saturday at the latest I can send you Feliz, Disneybee.

Mel

Thanks for the offer of Feliz, Mel! I appreciate it, and I'll send you my mailing address just in case. Hopefully we'll hear from Mouseaddicts soon to find out about Flora.

Tina

Flora is definitely MIA. :faint: Lucky for us MenashaCorp has agreed to send Fang in as a replacement for Flora until she is found. If anyone on Flora's list would like a different croc, let me know and I'll try to fulfill any requests.

With all this talk of Missing Croc's I am hoping "Flower" makes it here on time.

Me too, I'm looking forward to taking Flower along with us after you! I hope she can cope with the 3 week American adventure we have planned!! I hope she arrives in time for you and you all have a great trip.

If the post office lost Flora maybe she'll turn up soon. Either she should make it to her destination or be returned to sender - so maybe there is still hope....

Fang is Fedexed... Hoping Flora surfaces so I can get Fang back. My dresser looks empty! :sad1:

I don't trust the USPS express mail. They don't guarantee .... well, anything. I've always had the best luck with FedEx. (No, I don't work for them ;) ) It's comforting having a tracking number that WORKS and you have the option of requiring a signature. If no signature, it can be picked up at the destination's office. I sent Fang No Sig Required but the option is there... UPS is similar, though I've used them less.

I suspect Flora will show up. She's the last of the original crocs, no? She's Old Skool Focker!! :rotfl:

Hope everyone's trips are great! :goodvibes

Just to chime in and explain one thing : the "good" news is, altough we still don't understand why Faolan got returned back to msgrimm23 (maybe a mistake in the address labeling or insufficiant postage? Did they mention anything?) we have to notice one thing : it took almost 3 weeks from the time she sent it and the time she got it back... :hourglass

So since Flora was sent the same way and is still not there... maybe the same trouble occured (crossing our fingers everyone!), maybe she's not completely lost and will show up on maefly's doorstep between tomorrow and the next 2 weeks (since it's now been a week, right?)...
Sadly, still too late for mouseaddicts, and probably for DisneyBee too, but at least we would get her back...
At least, it's what I'm hoping it'll turn out like... :rolleyes1

As for the delay, we can't know for sure how long it would've taken for me to get Faolan, since I never got him, but let's remember I'm in Canada, so even though lonegungal17 (Mel) is in England and never had to wait long for shipping to/from the USA, we can't forget international shipping can take longer than standard domestic shipping... :teacher:

On top of it, I'm seriously thinking that USA/Canada shipping takes longer than overseas, because (unless you pay the price for it) it's by road, not by plane, and thus can take a long while! (some postcards I sent to Québec while in WDW took about 10 days to get there! Longer than from the Bahamas!).

So yeah... When croc shipping, either give it extra time to get there (like double the "standard" delay!) or, to be really sure, take the option with tracking #, for your own peace of mind!

Thanks for chiming in, msgrimm23! :thumbsup2
And I hope Flora gets home soon...

:thanks:

Thanks, Jason, for fedexing Fang! I appreciate it, and I do hope Flora turns up. As you said, she's the last of the original crocs.

I, too, will only use Fedex or UPS (depending on the recipient's preference) and not USPS for croc delivery!

Fang will be well cared for!

Tina

Ellen - if Flora doesn't turn up, I'll Fedex Fang to you the day before we leave WDW. If Flora turns up, and I get her, she'll come to you and Fang will go back to Jason.

This really shouldn't be SO complicated! I swear I'm more worried about getting and shipping the croc than I am about preparing for the trip itself! :worried:

Thanks for all the help from everyone!

Sorry hon, small change in plans. Ellen doesn't want a croc unless Flora turns back up. She doesn't want to disappoint her kids.

I'm sure there are folks who might read this thread and think it's silly but we really have so enjoyed Flora on previous trips and the kids really have become attached - so Flora would be the only one for us. DD11 follows this thread and all the crocs very closely was literally in tears last night when she read about Flora. I just hate to think of that disappointment making an otherwise magical Disney trip a little less than perfect. And the reason I wouldn't take another croc is that I just couldn't see getting attached to another when there is of course the risk of something like this happening again. As we would read about crocs going MIA we knew that someday it could happen to Flora too but by then we were already in too deep. So anyway, that's my reasoning for not wanting to take Fang instead - and in the meantime we will keep hoping for the safe return of Flora....

Unfortunately, as of the time of this posting, we have not seen Flora. :( I double-checked my PM to maefly and confirmed that all of my contact information provided (name, address, email and cell phone) were correct. I have lived in the same house for over 10 yrs and know my neighbors, so if they get her by mistake, they know who to deliver the pkg to!

IF she shows up, I'll let everyone know so it can be decided where she should go. Hopefully, she will either be delivered to us (albeit late) or back to maefly. :confused3

We were planning to have Flora for several trips this year, so this is quite disappointing to us. :worried:

I'm really hoping Flora turns up too. We had her last year and we were really hoping to have her this year too. Maybe she'll turn up!pixiedust:

Mouseaddicts - if you'll just PM me, I'll see that you get Fang for your July trip if you want him.

Honestly, I thought it was so much easier last year with Fauna when she was left for me at AKL, and then on my last day I delivered her to the Poly and the next family got her without a hitch. All this mailing back and forth doesn't seem to be working out very well. It's really too bad.
