***The Official June 2016 Thread***

Wow - lots of driving here. To me, anything over 6 hours is a plane ride, lol. My sister lives in Vermont - about 4 1/2 hrs. away, and I literally have to drag my husband every 3 or 4 years to go. He loves my sister & BIL, but hates the driving. We got spoiled by too many cruises. Fly and cruise......Not into driving anymore.

I have tried to get my husband to fly. He won't because it is cheaper to drive. He also thinks we need a car at Disney for the "Just in Case".

and my DH is the total opposite!! We're about 9 hrs from WDW and we drove the first 2 trips (2009 & 2010) but he has to drive b/c he gets car sick - and HATED the hassle of driving! He'd rather us pay the fare to fly and be there in 1.5 hrs...

He does drive a lot during the day so his idea of a great vacation doesn't begin by sitting in a car for 9 hrs - or splitting that up between 1 longer day and then a 1.5 hr drive the next morning...

22 days left until our WDW flight!!

I had a friendly recently who drove from here the 2-2.5 hrs to ATL to fly to MCO. Honestly, I thought it was totally crazy. By the time they drove to the airport, waited at security, waited whatever the acceptable amount of time to be early is, got to MCO, got their rental and drove to Uni they could have just driven and been soooo much easier!

For us, our closest airport is 45 minutes away, but the closest big airport is 2-2.5hrs away. Makes more sense to drive to me. Then we can pack more easily and just be much much cheaper. We're estimating about $200 for gas roundtrip. No way we could fly 5 people for anywhere near that!
Exactly! My mom and I flew once. It takes about 45 min for us to get to Hartsfield. We probably left the house around 4ish and arrived at Disney around 11 or so. That's 7 hours....that's how long it takes to drive there with no stops!

And I totally feel you on the cost factor!

We are driving from Cincinnati. Takes about 13.5 hours driving, but we will stop at the Florida state line and only have a few hours to drive the next day. We have 4 people and the direct flights out of CVG are running over $400 each. I would rather stay longer at Disney than spend that kind of money on airfare! We also have to visit the in-laws which would require a car rental--more $$$$.

Does Covington have southwest? We used to fly direct from Louisville and it was cheap.

Nope...CVG doesn't have Southwest. We now have Frontier and Allegiant, but Delta is the main airline. Frontier and Allegiant only fly on certain days and not always into MCO. Dayton used to have a direct Southwest flight, but they got rid of it and that seems to have caused the rates to increase at surrounding airports...could be coincidence.

For those of you thinking of booking a Jungle Book dining package - I called dining reservations & the guy said "I see that ..." then back pedaled and said if there are dining packages available, you should try tomorrow. So I think the 5/20 rumor is correct. The system has been down all morning, so i think the packages are loaded & ready to go & who knows what time they will show up. Midnight? My SIL volunteered to check then! This planning is killing me! Still hoping for FEA, though.

For anyone trying to book the Star Wars Dessert Party, the rest of June opened up!
I just tried for 6/28 and it says no availability. :worried: Anyone have any luck for the end of June yet?

ETA--Just did some more research and I didn't realize the fireworks are not every night in June. Now, what to do??? I think there will need to be some plan shuffling!

I missed this one. What is the Jungle book dining package?

Supposedly, there will be dining packages for the JB show, where you can book an ADR at either Flame Tree or Tusker House and get seating for the show. Similar to what already exists for Fantasmic!

Unfortunately, just about all we have are rumors right now.

I am anxiously awaiting the Jungle Book dining packages too. Either that or FP+, since we already have an ADR for Tusker House on the evening we're there.

Apparently it showed up on MDE today. Someone posted screen shots on a June FB group I'm in. But then I read that they took it down.

I have a tab open on my computer and just keep refreshing it. It would be under the make a dining reservation on MDE, right? We already have a 6:40 at Tusker House on Friday, the 10th. I hope it lets us book without canceling first in case it doesn't work out!

@Cluelyss has the screenshot. I'm assuming it's under dining.

Anyone else close enough to be watching the weather?! I know you're not supposed to check so far out but it's looking like our first 5 days are all rain! Hoping it changes for the better!

No, still too early. However, be prepared we may have a shower every day - that is probably why is it showing rain. But that is Florida. If we need to, I am just buying ponchos there. If you rip them, they replace them!
