Looking for packing tips for a newbie. What is a must have item? What did you bring with you that you never actually used?

Looking for packing tips for a newbie. What is a must have item? What did you bring with you that you never actually used?

This thread has a lot of great tips! http://www.disboards.com/showthread.php?t=3239603

scissors
Febreze
wrinkle release
Ziploc Bags
paper plates, utensils, napkins for your room if you bring back food or snacks (I go to Party City and get cute Disney ones from the Bday party section :thumbsup2)
meds/tums/pepto
different types of shoes (Often if you just wear tennis shoes or just wear flip flops your feet will get sore, so it's good to change it up. I do flip flops during the day so no tan lines, and then tennis shoes or Go Walks at night.)
Sharpie marker (you'd be surprised how many times this came in handy)

The biggest thing (for summer travel) is to either pack twice as many clothes as you think you'll need, or plan on doing laundry. You will be so hot and sweaty, that if you go back to take a break mid day you will not want to wear the same outfit in the evening that you wore in the morning.

I am a notorious over packer!! But I can safely say that during the summer months when we have gone, we have never used our jeans, sweatshirts or jackets. My DH found an ultimate packing list by using google and typing that in to the search. It has always worked for us in terms of packing what we need.

sunscreen, a few more pairs of socks than you think you may need, 2x underwear per day if it's hot and you sweat, flavoring packets for the water because it tastes funny here in GA and FL, and mostly more money than you assume haha.

Also 2x gym shoes for walking around the parks if you get wet, as well as bandaids for possible blisters.

There are tons of tips on the thread she mentioned, and the Ultimate packing list is great. I just wanted to add one thing that I brought last time which was perfect.

We do laundry, so I buy the Purex 3-in-1 sheets. This way I have all I need in the one sheet. :)

Got our luggage tags today! First time using Magical Express, as we usually stay at the Dolphin and use a town car service! Now just waiting for the magic bands to arrive!

Mickey Mail came today!!! Getting excited. Except we added an extra day on and I am completely changing plans around. That's what I love about July - dining is so easy to work around. :)
The best part - instead of arriving late on a Sunday afternoon, we are flying and will land in the a.m. of Saturday - extra time!!:cool1:

That's the best!!! I love when right at the last minute we end up with just a little bit more time! In May we arrived 10 hours earlier - and I felt like it was all just "bonus" time in the parks that we weren't counting out! Made it even more special!

Yes :) We stayed there two years ago and really enjoyed it, but I'm excited to be back at the CR and trying BLT for the first time. :goodvibes:goodvibes I like to change things up all the time. It makes it more exciting to not always know what to expect and to have some "surprises." :) On another note..... I'm having a Vera Bradley "issue." I know, first world problems :rotfl: I have been waiting for the Where's Mickey pattern to be back in stock for FOREVER. I really want a backpack for our trip. I saw that they have them at the new Co-Op, but I'm fearful (based on last time they had them in stock) that they'll be totally gone by the time we go. I know there are some on Ebay, but it makes me totally :furious: that people go and scoop them all up and then try to sell them for almost twice the price (or more!) I don't want to support that! Anyone been there recently (or have friends who were) that could report back for us about the availability of the stock?

I got the where's Mickey backpack when we were there in April. Apparently it had just come out ( I had no idea). I loved it more than the other patterns so I got one!! Hope you get one soon! ;)

I too use the purex 3-in-1 sheets. They are great while on vacay. The box fits nicely in our suitcase.

I love it more than the other patterns too. It's a little more understated and I love the color palette! This is going to sound bratty, but I sort of want to pick it out in person because each bag varies and I want to see the color placement on it ;) Maybe I'll just wait until our trip!

I totally agree with ;) that bc I looked at a couple first and compared them before I picked it. I think there were 3 or 4 to chose from. I would wait. It's not that much longer now!!!
We leave in 3 weeks. We are staying in FL for the whole month. I can't wait!!!!
Btw I got it at the the store on Main Street across from the Emporium connected to the gallery I think. ( they have like more high end stuff).

OH!!! Great tip! Thanks!

Hi all! We have 7 class days left in high school, and 16 work days overall. As hectic as it can be with all the end of year paper work, I love this time because the whole summer is ahead of us!

This Sunday is my birthday...I will turn 37. And I am getting the best birthday gift I have ever gotten...DS9 takes voice lessons for the past three years, and this Sunday is his concert!!! So I get to see my son sing on my birthday! He's singing in three different songs, and he has a solo in two of them. This will be a busy weekend...tonight we are celebrating my birthday with the whole family at my favorite Italian restaurant, tomorrow DS9 has his tech rehearsal, then just the four of us are going out for dinner, and Sunday is the concert.

We leave in 6 weeks from today for Florida! If only I could lose 5 pounds by then, I will be happy. I'm trying...and exercising regularly as always. I always get like this before our big summer vacation. We have a lot of eating out coming up, and that always makes me nervous but as long as I make the right choices I should be fine. Now to exercise some self control!

Happy Birthday!:bday: I hope you have a wonderful day and your son's concert is terrific.pixiedust: That is so awesome that you get to hear him perform on your birthday.

Michele

Thank you!! The boys gave me Tinkerbell earrings for my bday today! And DH is taking me to see Rocky the musical on broadway in early July!! I've been wanting to see that...I'm obsessed with the whole Rocky series. The weather is gorgeous today too, and I get to watch my son perform in three songs, two if which he has solos in! :)

Thanks, glad I'm not alone ;) I'm just worried about them selling out (which is what happened last time I waited!) Anyone know if they sell any of this in the Contemporary gift shops, or just in the parks and DTD?

It's official - we are flying this year!! No 18 hour drive for us  This will be the kids first time in an airplane - it is so exciting! And this means an extra day of Disney since we will arrive on Saturday insteady of Sunday afternoon :) Back to more planning when I get home tonight...

Ugh I wish we could fly so much lol!!

I think I might paint on the pattern from Anna's coronation dress for the green. This is what I did to my pink MB. I used nail polish and crystals to make sleeping beauty's crown (kinda). There's a huge thread here on the dis with people doing things to their MBs! Mine is not nearly the most creative or well done but I just wanted something girly and simple. Some people use acrylic paint with a clear nail polish topcoat. It doesn't harm the MB function at all either way.

HOW DID YOU DO THIS???? Will you please give me, or direct me, to some step by step instructions??

Oh boy, how am I going to control my eating at all of these occasions? Any advice? :)

I have no advice, food is my ultimate indulgence. I plan entire trips around where we're going to eat lol. Thank goodness for a fast metabolism.....

I'm doing it the opposite! Five days at WDW before unwinding 10 days in Aulani!! 8-)

We're going to have a total of 6 days now at disney, and then 3 at the beach. Not in Hawaii, but we're stopping at destin on the way home!

Anyone here experienced with using the Tables in Wonderland card? This is our first time using one and we aren't sure of 2 things - When do we present the card during the meal? when we first are seated? when we get the check? Also, we are booked at CRT (pre-paid) - how do we get the discount applied to that reservation??

Thanks so much! With all of our dining planned in July we will really get good use out of it!

We'll be there from July 1-10. Got our Magic Bands in the mail on June 4th! I'm so ready to be back HOME!!

Purchased my lifeproof case today! Now there's go worrying about it at the beach and on water rides!
