*** The Official July 2014 thread, join us won't you? ***

Our district added time on to each school day because no one wanted to loose spring break buy we still have 2 extra days at the end of the year which takes us to June 5. Living right near Lake Erie now we're hoping for no major fog days.

As for our celebration in July we will be there a week after my birthday. What better way to celebrate 39 then going to the place where you don't have to grow up? :)

Ohioan here too!!!! :-)

:welcome: to our group! Sounds like you are gonna do Disney up right with all those celebrations. We are also celebrating but you win with how many you have. I will add you to the front page, but where will you be staying so I can add that too? I noticed you are from PA, where in our wonderful state of ours?

we are staying at Pop Century this time around. Obviously two rooms. We are right down the road from you in Downingtown. Hard to focus right now because our 17 yr old is currently in France:eek: When she gets back on Easter, then we will be Disney all the way:cheer2:

Do you kids go to Downingtown school district? My Aunt is an Elementary School teacher in that district. Small world kind of thing! I will add the pop century to the front page. We've stayed there and loved it. You guys will have a great time.

That is awesome! I wish we had Brookshires nearby! I'm all about saving money. I'm using Disney as my excuse when the kids want something... "No, let's save our money for Disney." They are fine with it :D

I need to decide on shoes. I hate shoes! Seriously! I wear flip flops or some kind of sandals as much as I can. In the winter, I have a few pair of Merrell flats that I wear and some Tom's. I run and even those shoes I can't wear for more than a couple hours.... I think the shoes are my biggest concern right now. I did buy some Chacos and heard they take a few weeks to break in. I'm still deciding if I want to keep them.

I'm the same way! I love to vacation, and I find every way possible to cut costs and save money for trips. We told all the kids that obviously they wouldn't have to worry about food, hotel, etc during this trip, but that we wouldn't be buying them any souvenirs. If they want something they are going to bring their own money to purchase it. We had a garage sale this past weekend and DS8 put all of his earnings towards his Disney fund, plus he's been putting his allowance money towards it so he now has a little over $100.00 to take with him. DD17 is bringing money she's earned at her job, and DS15 is doing the same. I think that it will make them more responsible about what souvenirs they pick to bring home since they're purchasing them themselves. Plus it teaches them about saving so win-win!

Hi everyone! I'm still around, just haven't been on the boards for a while. We had our big competition last month between our school's student-run musical and two other large high schools' student-run musical. My students won!! All of the money raised went to the American Cancer Society, every adult there was volunteering. It was an amazing night, the kids had a very positive experience and all three schools were very respectful of each other, I'm so proud of my students for doing such a fantastic job!

That's fantastic!!!!

I'm also waiting for our 60-day mark, which is May 21st. We're off from school and work next week so I'll be doing as much research as I can during my time off. Touring Plans is also a great website that will suggest which attractions to book a FP for. All you have to do is make up a personalized plan based on your ADRs and attractions you want to do. It will optimize your plan with the best time to go on each ride. It also suggests which ones would be good candidates for FP.

Ours is on May 20th and I have to work that day.... I was thinking about asking for the morning off, but I decided to just suck it up and be tired lol. My boss is actually going to Disney in June so we've been planning everything together and she totally understands! I've been using Touring Plans to help with a lot of our plans too.

May 6th is our FP+ day. I've heard Anna and Elsa are booking FAST!!

This is the fast pass I'm most concerned about.... DD17 really wants to go see them, but I'm worried about not being able to get one.

So I've been sick since like the middle of January with all sorts of stuff. I'm soooo over it, and I truly can't wait for it to be summer with a great vacation! Last night was even at the Er cause I couldn't breathe.

I hope you're feeling better!

I want to go to F&W one year so bad! I love food, and I love wine. Therefore, I need to go lol. Hopefully I can convince my husband that I really need to go lol!

Am I the only not excited about any of the shows? I'd like to see Wishes once, but none of us are really interested in seeing Fantasmic, Illuminations, etc. We have all pretty much agreed that we'd rather be riding something. Even Wishes I think we're going to try and hit some rides up while everyone else is at the parade.... Maybe we're just weird lol

Also, we've had some changes to our vacation to add to the list. We changed from Shades of Green to Port Orleans Riverside for our entire stay.
ADRs:
07/20/14 Ohana 9:00am
07/21/14 Cape May 8:45am, Via Napoli 7:00pm
07/22/14 Chef Mickeys 10:15am
07/23/14 Kona Cafe 7:45am
07/24 Ohana 7:55pm
07/25 Grand Floridian Cafe 9:15am

Thank you so much for keeping up with all of us!!!!!!

Shoot.... we also changed our Touring plans..... We're very indecisive people, I'm sorry lol:confused3

07/19/14 we're arriving around 5-6pm and are hanging out at the resort and visiting downtown Disney
07/20/14 Hollywood Studios
07/21/14 Epcot
07/22/14 Legoland
07/23/14 Magic Kingdom
07/24/14 Animal Kingdom
07/25/14 Departure

I absolutely LOVE Illuminations! It's probably my only "MUST DO" of the whole trip.

But, hey, if my seeing Illluminations means a shorter wait at Soarin' for you, then what's not to love?

I'm a flip flip girl too. Not only because I live in SC and can wear them almost year round, but also because they're cooler and I don't like to get tan lines from socks and tennis shoes, haha!! I have worn Crocs Capri flip flops on our past 4 trips and they are perfect! Supportive and comfy, waterproof, and nice basic colors that match everything. I wear them almost the whole time. Sometimes I'll switch to a tennis shoe if we go back to the parks at night, but I mostly live in the Capris (and I'm not a fan of the look of Crocs, but the Capri flips are a little cuter.)

That sounds like fun - I would love to do a trip like that someday.

Ohioan here too!!!! :-)

Yea Ohio! I'm from the northwest - 70 degress this a.m. when I left for work and tomorrow we have a high of 38 with more snow! Agh!

As for our trip plans - changed again but only in a minor way :) Looks like we're going to go back to driving. We have a new Jeep Cherokee that gets about 32 mpg so in comparing that to flight costs even if we stop overnight we're still saving a ton of money. So my vacation will officially start on July 12 and we'll arrive in the afternoon of July 13 as planned :) Hopefully with enough time to relax and swim before heading to the Pirates and Pals Cruise that night.

I think we have our days set now - they've changed since I last posted them but I think we're set now :)

Sunday - the fireworks cruise
Monday - MK with PL in the afternoon and BOG dinner
Tuesday - AK with TH breakfast; DTD shopping in the evening
Wednesday - EPCOT with Via Napoli lunch and Coral Reef dinner
Thursday - HS with H&V breakfast
Friday - MK pre-opening BBB; CRT dinner
Saturday - MK with BOG dinner and Tomorrowland Fireworks Desert Party

Another Ohioan (Akron). We will be coming home on July 12. We arrive on the 5th. We had planned to drive until I saw the Southwest credit card giving 50,000 points. Both DH and I signed up and we only paid $160 for 5 round trip flights (that is the $69/ea card yearly fee and $20 in gov. Taxes). I was so excited. 2hrs on a plane compared to 18 in a car.

I am so ready for July in Florida. I can not believe we are getting another round of snow here. Enough is enough!!

I'm going to have to look into that! We're pretty much used to the drive because we usually spend time in the Keys before or after Disney so flying would've been new to us.
The temp keeps dropping slowly every time I leave the office - not liking this :( but I guess it can only get better.
(BTW I'm from in between Toledo & Sandusky)

I was actually looking at pricing to add the 4th of July to our trip...yet again...LOL.

To save on costs, it would most likely have to be a split stay, so not sure DH would go for that...The fireworks at MK look awesome though!

They are awesome! We always watch them on the 3rd though. We eat at 1900 PF and then sit on the beach there and watch. I know Poly has a better view, but I've never had a complaint about the show from GF. :)

We are also staying at POR from 7/18- 7/27. We stayed there for 1 night before, but this will be our first full stay at this resort. Your whole trip we will be there with you!

Yay!!! I'm so excited that we decided to make the switch to POR!

On the topic of weather, we spent almost the entire weekend outside. It was 80, we had friends over and we made a big pot of red beans and rice, worked on the yard, drank a few beers, and painted the kitchen cabinets. BEAUTIFUL summer weather. Flash forwards to today: we left this morning for school and work, it was 75 and cloudy. I told DS8 he didn't need a jacket or anything because it was gorgeous outside! Clearly I should have checked the weather because by 12 this afternoon it was in the 50s and pouring. I felt terrible because I knew he would be cold so I asked his grandma to bring him a coat to school lol. Now it's going to be in the 30s overnight and I'm really unhappy about it! Hopefully it all goes away soon and we can get our summer weather back!

It was gorgeous here this past weekend with temps in the 70's and sunny. Then it snowed/sleeted this afternoon and evening and we're under a freeze warning until later this morning...??? Really???
