I was told that we go to each attraction and they will tell us what time to come back so we won't have to wait in lines. So that means that we have to go to each attractions and get return times before we can ride anything if there are lines already. We always say we want to do rope drop, but we never quite make it. So, we will walk from attraction to attraction find our return times and then go to each one in order of return time. Just a bunch of extra walking around to finally get on a ride so that my son doesn't have a melt down... UGH!!! I guess we will just have to see if this is what really happens.

Okay, that is just crazy.

I hope it all works out for your son with the new program. It is awful that some people abuse the policies in place for those that really need them and that it results in a change and more of a burden on others. I agree with it not being Disney's fault. However, I hope the new program works well for you and your son.

Although not the same issues as you deal with, one of our children is visually impaired. It is frustrating because there is not much to be done at Disney to help. He does have some vision and can see things up close, so I was hoping there was some way to get space up front for shows or parades but there is not. So we tend to just try to stake out a spot extra, extra early, or skip it entirely. Now with FP+ it is nice that they are offering some of these preferred seating areas. Not sure how close they are? But not waiting forever will be nice!

I have noticed that if rides have belt loads, the CMs are nice about slowing it down for him. Thankfully, he is only 6 so we can still pick him up and plop him on a ride. He is also such a happy good natured kid that he is good with us explaining things to him and warning him about loud sounds before they happen.

we have never gone during the summer. Now that the kids are older and can't easily miss a week of school, we have to start going during school breaks. How amazingly hot is it in JULY? I can't imagine. I am usually pretty hot in Sept.. JULY???? i can stand some heat but everyone has that point where the heat is unbearable?

So, yes... it's hot. However, many things can be done to make it tolerable. I personally hate heat. In fact, under normal circumstances, I do get very ill in the heat. I have to be careful at Disney because of this. I gave my husband a couple of scares last time we went. whoops?

As often as people say it.... it helps so much: drink lots of water.

If the heat gets to you, take things slow. Don't go at break-neck speeds to get things done. It's not worth passing out.

Many people use the go early then take an afternoon rest/swim break. I'm up for that! Swimming is one of my fave things to do at Disney.

The heat is one of the reasons we love the Dining plan. It gives us time to get out of the heat for a while, rest, and rejuvenate. It's absolutely necessary.

Plan your day accordingly. There are many places that are air-conditioned. As you go from attraction to attraction, you will have the chance to go in and out of air condition. The only park that is hard for this is Animal Kingdom. Find the shade, water... and eat ICE CREAM!

Like I said, I don't do well in the heat. I just know in advance it will be hot, and we do our best to keep me from getting sick. It works about 90% of the time.

I like surprising my DD, but when it comes to Disney Vacations Midori expects it now. I introduced DD to Disney when she was 3 and we have been going every year since.

Welcome - Atlanta you have been experiencing some crazy weather.. I use to live in Marietta.. Off of Johnson Ferry Road, close to Atlanta CC on Mill Run Road.. ?? do you know the area I am talking about?

Since you live in Atlanta - the Florida humidity will not bother you, don't know how you feel about 90 to 95 degree weather. It can get a bit uncomfortable. BUT - you'll be at Disneyworld.. you won't feel a thing..

I know what you mean. My DS and DD both started going to Disney since they were almost 2 (DD younger than DS) and except for the year I had DD, we have gone every year. Last year was a bit of a surprise because we kept saying we weren't going, but I don't want them to expect it. We weren't planning to go this year at all, but I got a good deal at GF and somehow talked DH into it...not sure if we'll stick with the Grand or switch to POR...it's supposed to be a budget trip...

Yes, I am familiar with that area.. we are bracing for a big winter storm as we speak... Fingers crossed it is not as bad as they are expecting...

I am used to the humidity and heat of Atlanta but I don't make a habit of walking around all day in it..
We have been to WDW in May and will be going again this May and I don't recall the heat being that big of a factor.... but July.. how crowded are the parks in July compared to say September... ? Its one thing to be hot and sticky but its a whole nother thing being hot, sticky and standing in long lines all day.

We have been going every year since 2005. And now we go multiple times a year. I feel like my boys don't appreciate it anymore and they feel entitled. We've created monsters. Lol

I did surprise them once for their b-days. It was the second time they went. It was really awesome!

DH told me today that we're going to book our resort next week - that means I have to decide now! AGH! I think I have it narrowed down to AoA LM, CBR, or POR.

I was talking to my DD5 about it and she told me she didn't care - her biggest fear about going is that Elsa won't like the heat and she won't be there for her to see. The life of a 5 year old I know what we'll be doing one morning...

lol same here about the heat. It gets super hot and humid (Louisiana) and is downright miserable. I deal with it by avoiding it when possible. We do a lot of swimming and a lot of air conditioning lol, we'll see how it goes in July in Florida....

On the total opposite end of the weather spectrum, we're having freezing rain/sleet and snow tonight! It started around 4:00pm and has been going ever since, supposed to continue overnight too. My son's school closed so I took the day off work and we're going to hang out in pajamas all day tomorrow!

We were at WDW last year 1st week of August. It was hot and we really had to pace ourselves and take breaks. All 5 of us had camelback water reservoir backpacks and drank water all day long. Some days we filled them 3 times. I bought a special insulated bladder so the ice did not melt. We also had cool towels. Do not drink soda- my mom did and almost passed out the last day.

Well, the weather may force us to push our trip back from May to July. We can't go in August because Football practice starts in late July... the twins have a birthday mid july, maybe would could go then.... dreading the heat already.

Well My Friend... The lines can and will get pretty challenging at times. I agree with OP's, take a afternoon break, rest and get out of the heat if your schedule allows it.

As for us - We like to take breaks and do take them periodically but once we are at the Parks, we really do not want to leave for any reason. We want to take in all of Disney we can.

With this new FP system, our game plan will change.. We use to cash in on at least 10 to 12 fast passes plus 4 standby lines every day and now limited to 3 fast passes and probably do 6 standby lines.. The afternoon breaks will probably be on our schedule.
