I am looking for some help/advice from the veteran summer travelers here. This is not our first trip to WDW but it is our first trip in the summer and heat. All of our other trips have been in Nov, Dec, or Jan. Previously we arrived for RD and remained until closing (or close to it) without taking breaks. We are all night owls so staying up late will not be a problem. We should have an early night the night before so we should not have any problem making RD. This trip we will only have 4 park days so I am trying to maximize our MK day.
It will be me, DH, DD17, DS12, DS7, and DGM. The day before and the day after our MK day will not be park days. We will use those days to swim at the resort, visit a water park, sleep-in, or do whatever.
My plans are to arrive at MK for RD and ride as much as we can before lunch. We are planning to eat a late lunch at BOG. Then I thought we could visit Mickey's Philharmonic, COP, HOP, the Enchanted Tiki Room, and indoor rides like Pirates when it is the hottest and most crowded. I am planning for dinner at CP around 6:00 or 6:30 pm. After dinner we can do any attractions we haven't done yet or re-do favorites with short waits until Wishes. I am hoping Disney schedules a second MSEP at 11:00pm which we will watch after Wishes.
Are my plans unrealistic? Will we get enough of a break from the heat and crowds? Does everyone always take a break during the afternoon? If we are miserable after lunch we can leave and go back to our resort and return for dinner and the evening. I don't know if it matters but we live in Maryland and it may not be as hot as Florida but it does get hot and humid here. Thank you for any advice or suggestions you might have.
