*** The Official July 2014 thread, join us won't you? ***

I bid you an official :welcome: to our small but friendly group! Glad to have you. I will add you to our front page and get you "officially" entered into our family! Make yourself at home and ask anything you wish and we will do our best to help or guide you in the right direction. We love to hear Disney stories and why you love it, or what your plans are for your trip. In our thread, some have posted our dining plans, so if you are comfortable doing so, we would all love to see them. Again, welcome!

I have never been, but have wanted to go. I have heard great things and if it were me, I would go (especially if I also got a discount) if I could afford it. :thumbsup2

I played with the numbers to see how much it would be if we ordered the most expensive items and also went to V&A's. it's still less expensive than the deluxe dining plan would be for the 4 of us! So there we go...that's my justification! ;)

In all seriousness though...I told DH what our dining total would be after playing with the numbers, and how it's still less than V&A's even if we have expensive multi-course meals at all our ADRs. He was happy about that when I told him that was including V&A's. then I told him how much it costs there per person...the look on his face was priceless! But I think we're leaning more towards doing it than not doing it and regretting after the trip that we could have gotten 20% off, and I think that there's no chance of it coming back to TIW once it's gone. Plus I read about the kids clubs and they even give them dinner included in the price.

Ok, I know I know, I sound like I'm trying to justify this to myself...hahaha!! :lmao:

DO IT!!!!!!! Are you kidding?!? Stop crunching numbers. I have yet to hear one negative about V&A. I'm sure this will be the dinner of a lifetime & a memory that will always be frozen in both your minds forever.
Your kids will be thrilled to hang out at the kids club, I've heard great things about that too...
I'm super excited and a bit green w/envy over your V&A ADR that you will be making in a few months (for the record I've never been, but maybe some day) :) I think you might regret something like this if you let it slip by. Just my .02 worth

I completely agree with you! However DH is not thrilled that he will have to bring his sports jacket with him because they require men to wear a jacket for dinner. It will be complicated because he will need to put plastic over it and lay it over the luggage in the car for the trip down. There's no sense bringing a garment bag for one jacket. He's also not crazy about wearing a jacket in Florida in July. I think I could convince him though. This is too good a deal to pass up and TIW will no longer be accepted there as of August. So I take this as a sign that this is the right time to go there. :thumbsup2

I've also only read positive reviews about this restaurant. It's a place I just have to try!

Hello Everyone - Sorry I haven't been on Dis lately..:( Midori's Volleyball Team had their first game on Thursday. 2 out of 3 games - 1st game / 21 to 5 with Midori scoring 11 service points and 2nd game / 21 to 8 with Midori scoring 13 service points.

Also DD came home on Wednesday letting me know I had a Science Project due Monday :furious:. I asked what it is supposed to look like???:confused3

DD said a 3-D image showing the division of a cell. :headache: So I have been working on this in the evenings. Taking a break today and getting ready to go to Midori's 330pm Volleyball Game...

Way to go on the volleyball game!
That's kinda funny that you are stuck with the project. Last yr ds9 did a science project on "bread molding" it was me after work the night before at 1am putting the poster together ~~~ crazzzzzzyyyyyyy

Hello everyone! :)

I was wondering if any of you have ever been to Victoria & Albert's? A friend of mind just came back from WDW last weekend, and her SIL and BIL went there and told them it was fantastic. This same friend of mine has been to V&A and said it is the best meal she ever had in her life. And she has been to Michelin rated restaurants in NYC and other cities. DH and I are almost convinced that we have to go there on our July trip and bring the boys to one of the kids clubs. Now this would be a VERY expensive night, so if any of you have been there I'd love your opinions.

Sorry Friend, DD and I have never been to V & A.. Every time I start making my ADR's and reserve all of our favorites our budget runs out. Would love to go at some point.

So glad I'm not the only one doing school projects for our Darling Children. but it's fun. I remember making a 105 on one of my projects last year.

Saturday's Volleyball Game Up Date - We won 2 games in a row again. 21/17 Midori scored 11 service points - 21/9 Midori scored 9 service points. Team - I feel the team will do very well again this year. The kids on the team have grown a lot over the summer and are able to really set up and spike the ball. It's really neat to see the kids develop into a team that also talks to each other during the game. I am their # 1 :cheer2:......:cool2:

You do realize I know of 2 teachers on this board who will not think to highly of the fact we do the project.. Although, I must say as I'm sure it's the case for you too ~ our kids really do the project we just well, make it look nice?!? Oh and I got a 95 on the moldy bread (-5 because ds didn't make eye contact when he was doing the verbal part)
~ that's awesome her team sounds like champions!!!! :)

OOOOOHH !! that's right.. We do have Teachers on this thread...

To All Teachers :teacher: - I am so sorry :worship: from now on I will assist in DD projects and not be so controlling and take over the project. :thumbsup2

 - I make better grades now than when I was in school. :lmao:

I hate school projects. My parents never helped me. Nothing. I got zero help as a child for school work. They both said "that's your teachers job".

I am not like that with my kids at all. Thank goodness for pinterest tho, we do a search for some ideas. Makes the brainstorming much more fun for me.

This is exactly why the only projects I assign are in school projects. Then the kids HaVE to do them. :goodvibes:rotfl2:

:rotfl: Nothing wrong with assisting them as long as they do the main work and learn what they're supposed to learn from it. That did make me laugh though! ;)

Busted!! :lmao: just kidding...I don't take it personally. Besides, my students' projects have to be done in Italian and very few of their parents speak it!

There definitely needs to be a balance. I guide my children but they have to do the project on their own. My mother did the same for me and it worked really well.

I usually have them complete most of their projects in class too. But that's mainly because they like to go home and use a free "translator" on the Internet to write in Italian. I'd rather have them do the writing in class so I know they're not doing that and they're really writing on their own. Their writing is so much better than those interned translators but the students never believe me when I say that. I wish they had more confidence in themselves when learning a new language.

Good evening everyone!

Well, it's Sunday night and here I am, the night before classes start, the night before my boys begin school once again! I'm starting my 15th year of teaching, and I'm looking forward to seeing last year's students in the next level, as well as meeting my 4 classes of new students. And...having the first meeting of the year for the show I run (hopefully the meeting will be tomorrow). Lots going on at work, complete with a wonderful student teacher from NYU! I already knew her because they started this program back in the spring, where the education majors observe the classes of one teacher in their subject and also interact a little with the students so they could gain some experience before actually being a student teacher. So we worked together just a few months back. She even got to chaperone a class trip with me! This time she will get some experience actually teaching the first year Italian class, with me right there with her.

So, this will be a very busy year, as they all are, but it will be productive and I'm sure it will be a good one...I'm hoping at least! ;)

Tonight though, I have the typical jitters that I get every year the night before the students come back. This is my 15th year going through this and it's always the same every year. My first year, all the veteran teachers warned me that it's the same every year...you get no sleep the night before you return and you always get nervous. They were so right. I'm feeling it in my stomach all day, as I always do (I have IBS unfortunately).

Today I double checked that all the boys' school supplies were labeled and ready to go. I already made their lunches and mine as well. I hope it lasts, that I don't save making lunch for the morning because when I procrastinate and do that, it gets very annoying rushing in the morning. I need to keep that in mind.

Today was also a very nice day though...it is Grandparents' Day so my sister and I made plans for all 10 of us to take our parents out to brunch at Junior's...yes, the famous restaurant and bakery in Brooklyn that makes the most delicious cheesecake! Their food is also amazing, both for breakfast and for lunch/dinner. We had a great time, as we always do over there. And we got great parking spots...much easier to park there on a Sunday as there a fewer restrictions and we don't have to pay meters on Sundays. It was definitely nice to spend some time with the family before all the craziness begins. Tomorrow! ;)

Ok so now that I got all that off my chest, I'm hoping to find time and energy to be on the DIS before Friday...hoping to be back here tomorrow actually! Have a great week everyone!

Well hopefully you are fast asleep :) Goodluck on your 1st day of school, as I'm sure it will go as smooth as smooth can go. Was today grandparents day (argh! How could I not know?) well I ordered out and invited my parents over so maybe they think I did remember?? Sounds like you had an amazing day... I mean cheesecake... Doesn't get much better than that!
I'm wide awake because ds10 is hugging the toilet.... Stomach virus... Not fun (ESP when he might miss a day so early in the year). My boys hardly ever miss school so this is not setting a good start.
~ well, hope you have a great first week and find time to check in with us here ;)

Congrat's - Speaks highly of you to be assigned a Student Teacher. She will learn a lot from you. :teacher:
