Somehow my subscription to this thread got cancelled and I have missed a lot! So I have some questions now....we leave in 35 days (jan 5-11...my bday is jan 8-first time celebrating a bday at Disney! anyway.....) and we haven't gotten any Mickey mail of any kind or magic bands yet. Have others starting getting those things for beginning of January trips? Also, I haven't done online check in yet. We've only stayed on Disney property once and I did it then but it didn't seem to save us any time when we got there. Any opinions on whether online check in is helpful or not? Thanks!

I like online check in because they can have your room already assigned and the keys ready...or well who knows now with magic bands. I guess since yours will be mailed to you your room can't be on them yet. I'm not really all that sure. But I guess it might still speed up check in somewhat. I did it on our first trip and found it really good.

I arrive Jan 6th and still on Mickey mail for us (booklet, vouchers, luggage tags) but it should be soon.

Hi Jenn, I'm not sure about Canada, but I'm from abroad as well and I'm definitely not getting anything by mail. I'll be picking up my luggage myself at MCO, and I will receive my magicbands, package etc at the resort

I'm in Canada and we get the booklet and the luggage tags. But we do not get our magic bands until we check in at our hotel.

We received the box with the Mickey USB stick and MyMagic+ info. At first we thought it might be our magic bands - so DS and I got excited. Knew we shouldn't receive them yet, but thought maybe there was a screw up! lol. It was still pretty cool to get something in the mail, but we're DVC... Hope they don't send it before every trip. That would be quite wasteful IMO. (1/20 arrival)

We are DVC also and are switching 3 times during our trip. We have received 3 flash drives so it appears that you will receive 1 for each ressie.

We are doing a three split stay starting Jan. 5th, we did not get a flash drive for the first reservation but have for the last two. I think it is based on the date of the reservation

Got an email early this morning saying our magic bands have shipped!!!!

I am trying to figure out what clothes everyone is taking, my ticker says 29 days, but we are actually leaving in 24 to make a few stops on our way to Florida. This is the least prepared I have ever been for a Disney trip.

We are returning this January after thoroughly enjoying our first January trip last year. We were always June visitors! I found the weather forecasts so changeable that we didn't pack until the week of the trip! We lucked out with 80 degrees ALL 10 days!

Great! thanx.. ive only been twice before and the last time was 12 years ago! no such thing as magic bands back then lol. i'll be on the look out the next week or so if people are getting them for january 1st check ins.. mine is january 2-6 all star movies and 6-11 aoa cars suit

as this is a surprise trip, i'll make sure my son doesnt check the mail lol otherwise it wont be a surprise anymore

We went 3 years ago in mid-January and had perfect weather. Shorts/capris during the days and hoodies at night. I thinking it will be about the same, except we are going to Alabama, Georgia and South Carolina first where it should still be cold

It's me, DH, DS7, DD4, and my mom, staying at Pop Century. Last time we went was with DS three years ago. My mom treats all her grandkids with an off-season trip in the year they turn five.

The bands themselves are in a white box with mrs incredible on it, but that box was inside of a brown cardboard box. He shouldn't be able to tell what's inside.

Our MagicBands arrived today! It's so exciting getting closer to our trip!

We went with green for the guys and pink for the girls. I wanted a green one as well, but with DH and DS both picking green and DD choosing pink, I couldn't pass up "balancing" the colors....

my first set came today!
we picked green and orange.

supposed to get another set tomorrow that will be blue and red.
doing a split stay so we got to choose another set of colors.

i was afraid to pick the same colors for both stays as we might confuse which bands are valid for which days.

All of your bands will work for all of your days. They aren't date or stay specific. Have fun mixing it up!

from what was being said by the CM, i thought the bands were date marked.


the second set of bands came early this morning.
they are just as shiny and pretty as the first set.

They will even work for future trips. The bands simply access the information in your MDE account, so whatever current information you have there will be available as long as you have the bands linked to your account.
