**The Official January 2012 WDW Thread**

Almost time here too.
packed today...........whew. That was hard!!
Got mani/pedi..............BFF says she can't concentrate at work either. She hasn't been in 5 years.

These next two days are going to be the longest since everything is mostly done.
Just need to grocery shop (for the family :rotfl) and clean the house.

Saturday morning off to the airport, meet BFF at stop over in Dallas. And then OKW here we come!!

I got my pedicure today too and we are arriving at OKW on Saturday as well! I'm so excited!

We are going to sit them down for breakfast and while they are eating come into the room with Disney music playing with our mickey ears on and ask each other what do we want to do today...then I will either hand their mickey ears to them or place them on their heads and ask them what they want to do today....then we will tell them what we are REALLY doing today. The most hilarious thing is tonight we were all snuggling in our bed and the Disney commercial came on and DD 7 said I REALLY want to go to disney tomorrow! AHAHAHA!!!!! :rotfl: We almost DIED!! I can NOT wait!! :yay:

Sounds Great!!! Good luck. Are you recording the surprise? I think I want to do that.

That is too cool! The reveal is going to be so much fun. :goodvibes

I can't believe we'll actually be at Disney on Sunday! It seems we've been planning for months and now it's finally here!

My son is 2 (will have his 3rd bday while there) so we've been looking at pictures, talking about Disney, etc... just so he has a better idea of where we'll be. He doesn't know we're going, though, and today he said "I wish we could go to Disney World. I'd like a Mickey bar." I wanted to tell him so bad but he would just wonder why we weren't going NOW and would drive me crazy until we got there.

I think we've looked at enough pictures that he'll know where we are when we get there. I can't wait! I spent a lot of time at Disney as a child and I'm so excited to start new memories with my little guy.

I haven't packed, but I've gathered. I have a few things left to buy tomorrow, packing on Friday, driving part of the way to the in laws on Saturday, then Sunday we'll be in the Magic Kingdom! I cannot wait.

Marshay, we saw the Osborne lights tonight. Highlight of my day! They're here all week.

Spent the whole day at HS (9-7). Crowds were a 5 but felt like a 6 or 7. Couldn't get on ToT (my fav), but got on all the other big ones. Weather was sunny and a tiny bit warmer, but still darn cold. Wore my fleece, jacket, and gloves all day. Supposedly each day will continue to get warmer.

Hoping to get a good night's sleep- I need it! Still fighting off the cold. Haven't thrown in the towel yet!

More foreign tour groups today, everywhere we went. Some group all in red carrying pennants that said DreamTour were wandering around. Have no idea who they were.

Will go to MK tomorrow, but probably not in time for EMH. Letting the kids sleep.

Almost done with finalizing all our clothes to coordinate with each other and repeat clothing 2-3 times per trip (we have W&D in room). Yay!

Now will just keep watching weather to add/subtract clothes as needed. Right now I'm packing 1 pair capris/3 pair leggings with 2 matching tutu skirts, 1 pair jeans for all the bottoms for girls. For me, 1 capri, 3 looser pants and 1 jeans. If weather is predicted for nicer, then I'll add shorts or if colder than add jeans right before we leave.

I feel like I'm walking a fine line between too many clothes and not having enough. I hate taking too much stuff and lugging it everywhere...promised DH I would cut back...but it's so hard with January weather.

And of course that doesn't include jackets, coats, gloves, hats and scarves:eek:

Guess I'll need to cut back on toys, toiletries, food, etc to save space. So thankful we're taking the Autotrain but still ... no need to go overboard!

Brrr, sounds chilly! I know here in VA the temps are even colder, but I'm not outside all day either...

Glad you got to see OL! I  them, too!

Thanks for head's up on tour groups. It's funny b/c we went in July one year and were inundated with them. Said never again. So now we picked January thinking that was not tour groups -- :lmao: oh well!

Enjoy MK!

How awesome! I can feel your excitement. Hope you have a wonderful trip with beautiful weather :) We have 19 days to go and the waiting is so hard. I probably won't sleep the night before..lol.

Your pants packing plan sounds similar to mine. For me, I have a pair of jeans, 2 pairs of yoga pants (I'll probably wear one of these on the plane), a pair of warm fleecy sweat pants, a pair of capris and a sundress in case it gets warm (If it looks like it's going to be really warm, I'll probably throw in another sundress or capris). For DS, I have 2 pairs of thin track pants, 2 pairs of fleecy sweat pants, 2 pairs of cargo pants and 2 pairs of shorts plus whatever he wears on the plane but he finds dirt and gets so messy, so I want a couple extras for him. (if it looks like it's going to be warm, I'll swap out a pair of pants with another pair of shorts) I'm really struggling with tops though. That's where I feel I'm overpacking. I have a zip up sweatshirt, a hoodie and a jacket for each of us (but we'll carry the jacket on the plane, not pack them). Then I have 5 short sleeved shirts and 5 long sleeved shirts. I'm so worried about being too cold or being too warm and not having enough of either shirt... And then on top of that we have shoes, swim suits and cover ups, pj's, socks and underwear, hat, gloves and toilitries. I don't know how I'm going to fit this all into just one suitcase a piece... My shoes alone could probably take their own suitcase :)

I got a wild hair last week and have been thinking it over. Tonight I booked a 4 day trip for 1/27-1/31! Taking my 6 year old son down for a father/ son Disney adventure. We were just there in October for his birthday, but you can never get enough WDW right? We are excited about going back in 3 weeks!

ooh, fleece pants sound good...I don't own any but I could do a pair of cords instead...will pull those out for my "extra-TBD" pile.

Yeah, this January packing is hard! I did cut back on tops -- 3 s/s tops and 3 long-sleeved tops (had 4 each). Plus one emergency l/s top and black leggings that can match anything. Those we'll take with us each day for those "accidents" that happen in the park.

We are doing 1 light sweater, 1 heavy hoodie and one jacket each. May throw in thermal underclothes, too, jic.

Tomorrow I'll start putting each day's (or 1/2 day depending on what we are doing) clothes into l or xl ziploc bags.

And tomorrow (Thurs) I'll start tracking Accuweather's 15 day forecast. I know it's not accurate, but I like to see the trends warming up or cooling down...and I'm a planner, so just gotta do it!;)

Congrats on the trip!! I'm sure you and your son will have a blast!

My DD6 keeps telling me we need to have a "mommy and me" trip to WDW.

6 days to go for us!!!

We started seriously packing...getting stuff into boxes that I will need for the apartment, plus packing for the actual trip.

We still have so much to do and so little time to do it all...the big excitement is we managed to pick up some of our dates at AKL, so we are split stay between there and POFQ!

We are going for the first time 1/20-1/28! Staying off site at Wyndham Bonnet Creek. So excited to go!!!!

Welcome!!! I hope you guys have the best first trip ever!!

We're arriving on Sunday as well!!

Only 2 more working days and then it's VACATION TIME! :cool1::cool1::banana::banana::cool1::cool1:

Woot!!!

Do you know exactly what day they stop with the Osborne lights? Sorry it's so chilly. Our 10 day right now shows it getting chilly again next Saturday. I know for FL weather that practically means nothing, but I want the warm high 70s if possible! :wizard::wizard:

Hope you keep having a great trip! Say Hi to the Big Cheese for us!

Awesome! Have a fabulous time!!!

The 2 older girls are back in school! Hate to see them head back, but secretly glad so that I can finally start doing some packing/surfing the DIS/making tutus/surfing the DIS/printing itineraries/surfing the DIS/etc while they are at school!

A week from tomorrow is the big surprise!!!!:yay::yay::yay:

We're down to one week! :woohoo::woohoo::woohoo:

Weather.com shows possible showers for our first park day though. So here's hoping that those go away!!!

Today is DH's last day off before we leave. Once we take DS to school, we're going to head out and check out the Disney outlet for any last minute t-shirts, pins or other goodies. And go to Target to get travel toiletries, gum, books for the plane and snacks. I'm going to try to get him to start to pack but I doubt he'll go for it. He always waits until the night before and it drives me crazy. I'm busy doing my own thing and can't keep track of his stuff and he always ends up forgetting something he needs (pj's, bathing suit, sweatshirt) and we have to end up searching for one he likes, which can be quite the chore. I don't think I'll ever understand his objection to packing early :scared1:

I think you'll be safe with Snow White, at least until the new ride is open in the Fantasyland expansion. I'm expecting it to be open when we go in 2 weeks. Fingers crossed it will be (I really think it will because I feel like we would've heard something by now about when it's closing if it were to happen that soon).

Thanks for your response. We wanted to pay our respects before it closed permanently. Don't get me wrong, I am very excited about the new Mine Train but am very sad to see an old classic go.

O.K. different topic....just got off the phone with DH and he told me that today is going to be his last day before we leave. His original last day was on Wednesday but since he has a cold coming on, and he works outdoors, he didn't want his symptoms to escalate. I informed him he had better be taking tons of Vitamin C and other medicines that will help him get well before we leave. We are taking a cruise before we go to Disney and the last thing I want is for them to deny us on the boat because he is contagious (not sure if they will actually do that to us or not, but still he doesn't need to be sick while we are gone). I have been pumping my girls and myself with Vitamin C all week so hopefully that will prevent us from catching whatever he is getting and whatever contagious bug that is going around my kid's school (they go back on Monday). Oh well, at least he has 9 days to get better :sad2:.
