The Official Home of the Trading Spaces and Other Home Design Shows Addicts and Fans!

So who caught While You Were Out last night? What did you think of Chayse Dakota's "Midnight Cowgirl" bedroom?

I don't like that theme at all; it is not me. I thought it was very nice and absolutely perfect for the homeowner, though. As always, Chayse did another nice room.

I love Monster House and While You Were Out. I watched the Mad Scientist episode yesterday. I just love Steve, the host. I think it's great how he just lays into someone when they are slacking off. As for While You Were Out my favorite designer is Jon Bruce. I love his stuff. I used to watch all the design shows but a lot of them have sort of become all the same so I only watch when something really catches my eye.

I'll join in here. I love home improvement shows. I do love TS and WYWO. I also love watching HGTV. I'm just waiting for it to come on tonight. Need some more great ideas::yes::

I was able to catch a poriton of Double Agents tonight. It was very good. I did like it better than Househunters. The only problem is that it is on at 4:00 PM every afternoon on weekdays and 6:00 PM on Saturdays. I work and do not get home until 5:00 and we are usually eating dinner at 6:00 on Saturdays. Wish they would change the times. Househunters is on at 7:00 or 7:30 every night and Thursday nights at 10:00. Fits my schedule better. Do not tell me to record it. There is not a TV in our house that is not touched by kids or DW. Thanks though for letting me know about it. I will keep my eyes open for it now.

I LOVE the home improvement shows.

When the Hildibeast was destroying that bathroom, I told DH that it looked like a bordello blew up in there.

Television without Pity did an interesting interview wth Vern back in Aug 2002. You can read it here.

You can certainly tell that some of the designers never read about the HO they were designing for/or working with.

My take on the FL mansions that the Hildibeast and Edward worked on: I thought it was to show that even a room done on a tight budget could fit in a millionaire's mansion. Edward excelled, the Hildibeast was the Hildibeast.

I felt SO sorry for the Berkley, CA HO that had their Craftsman house solid oak mantle removed/destroyed AND straw put on the walls. I just can't imagine ANY designer (even if she does like Pluto) putting that on any walls (other than a wine cellar) in a home - especially one with small children.

Some of my other favorite shows are: Divine Design (I LOVE Candice Olson), Designing for the Sexes (we're always amazed with what Michael comes up with, even if it isn't to our taste, it fits the HO - DH also likes that Michael is a physicist by training, as he is), Sensible Chic (I just can't imagine spending as much for a room as the inspiration rooms), and Design on a Dime (but Kristan Cunningham needs to go on What Not to Wear).

In a similar vein, we also really enjoy Good Eats with Alton Brown on Food TV.

It looks like I sure do qualify as an addict.

count me in I'm a designer tv junkie as well! My fave show is divine design with candace olsen on hgtv :)

So what did you guys think about TS Home Free tonight? West Coast, don't read if you haven't watched the show yet....

I really wanted the Lt. Blue team to win (I loved the Yellow team too, but the Lt. Blue team did a great job last week), but I was really surprised that they won by such a large margin!

And the viewers that won, well, I guess they deserved it almost as much as I did ;) Seriously, they looked like a family that could truely appreciate what was given to them, so I'm really happy for them.

On a separate note, I LOVED Gen's room on TS yesterday! That woodwork that Faber and the HO did were incredible, and that piece Gen found with all the bird poo on it was beautiful (shame on them for putting it in the barn to begin with).

I thought it would have been closer, also! Both rooms were great! Congratulations, Jon and Stacie!!!!!

Yes, I loved Gen's room she did, also! It was beautiful!

I'm glad Jon and Stacy won as well; I knew yesterday when no one came a knockin on our door that we probably weren't the winning home owners. Oh well- the family that won looked sweet. Angel and Vilma looked shocked that they didn't win- felt a little sorry for them, but I felt that each and every room Jon and Stacy did was so creative, they worked so well together, and overcame all the challenges incredibly well. They deserved to win!

I missed last night's TS; my mom was telling me about it and it sounds like a must see. Hopefully I can catch the repeat this week!

I'm a makeover junkie(people and houses).I'm hooked on Extreme Makeover: Home edition and TS

Looks like the "Dis" is a fairly accurate representation of the people that voted on the TS Home Free last episode. Last time I saw the poll here, it looked like the Lt. blue team was winning, about 70/30 split. ......................P

I am so glad that Jon and Stacy won!

In addition to the better designs throughout the show, I liked their work ethics and attitudes better.

I know I shouldn't pick based on someone's attitude when the design is being judged but I just couldn't get over how cocky Angel and Vilma were. Notice last night how they wrote "ALL" on their card before Paige even got the sentance out of her mouth?

And maybe I missed it but I never saw them even come up and congratulate Jon and Stacy on their win.

Hey, the yellow teams should be happy that they at least won the top of the line appliances in their kitchens and a plasma TV. Who wouldn't love to win that?

I don't know. I have mixed feelings about the result. In spite of the outcome, I think the smart thing for both would have been to write half on the card. I was surprised at the 70% vote that the blue team got. I can't imagine being that certain. One room wasn't really much better than the other. In fact, the table that the blue team made was pretty tacky. Also, in the last show, neither team had to do much work since Home Depot did most of it. I think the Yellow team were kind of in shock. The format of the live show, with hundreds of people around you, etc., I couldn't blame anyone for freezing up. Still, I think the Blue team "deserved" to win as much or more than any other team. The team we "liked" the best were Smitty and his wife...but they didn't have the best rooms.

Did you see the episode over the weekend on the Farms in Oklahoma? Paige trying to shoot that bench with the shotgun was a hoot!

Here's an interesting article on what's coming up on TS and TLC. Looks like a lot of fun!

All I know is that given the talk here about the Blue team (I had voted Yellow, but wold have changed my vote if I had read everyone's convincing arguments prior to voting), I was screaming at the TV (in my mind) to have Angel write HALF on his card. I can't believe how fast he made his decision - I would have definately written HALF. Half is better than none. I feel very bad for them, but Galahad is right in that they sure did get a lot out of this - plus you didn't see the Blue team signing autographs and whatnot.

I was wayyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy depressed Sunday when I knew, just knew I hadn't won because they would have had to have contacted the winner prior to the show. I started to not give two hoots who the heck had won their mortgage - yup, I'm bitter. :snooty:

All I can say is, thank God this is over so I can go and watch Extreme Makeover: Home Edition in peace :cool1:

I think Paige made it pretty clear who won before she even read the results. When Stacy said "I don't want to know" right before Paige was going to read the results, Paige said "Oh yes you do". Then she encouraged Angel and Vilma to really think about their answer before they wrote it down.

In any case, I was pulling for the blue team. John and Stacy really put a lot of thought and work into all their designs ahead of time and really didn't let anyone detract them from their vision. They never complained about the challenges, whereas Angel was bleeped out when Doug walked up with the challenge envelope. I liked the way the blue team really welcomed Frank when he told them of the designer switch. The yellow team wasn't that accepting of Doug at first.

I think the whole series was fun to watch and breathed some new life into a show that has been rather stale lately. I would like for them to do it again someday.

Thanks to PamOKW from the DVC forum, she found this article about both couples from the Orlando Sentinel I thought I would share on this forum for those interested:

I was happy to see the Lt Blue team win. I didi kinda feel bad for the yellow team, but as others have said, they did get a lot of good stuff. I too would have written "half" because even half would help sooo much.
I mostly watched Extreme Makeover, with flipping to Home Free to watch every so often. It was so good, won't go into any details unless someone asks, don't want to be a spoiler here!!!
Does anyone know how the fund-raiser for the family of 8 kids went? I realy hope that it went good, maybe someother furniture store stepped up to the plate?

Looks like the "Dis" is a fairly accurate representation of the people that voted on the TS Home Free
I kept telling DH that I hoped the Yellow team wrote 'half' based on the poll here. It always seemed that the DIS polls were more accurate than the TS board polls (although I'm pretty sure they were VERY strong for Light Blue too). Some of the other polls were way off. The TS board is SO snarky, that I don't think it is an accurate representation of the average viewer (at least I HOPE it isn’t).

I wasn't going to be upset with either team winning.

I was very happy with the results of the show - Jon and Stacey winning - however I was REALLY disappointed in the show itself.

come on - 30 minutes of recap, 10 of commercials, 10 of pointless live "filler", 5 minutes of "behind the scenes footage", 5 of the "reveal".

it just seemed like i could have watched the last 5 minutes and been happy. I was hoping to see more of what went on between these two teams - not everyone else.
