I'm not surprised by Richard & Emily's offer to Rory. I think they are trying to make up for the mistakes they made with Lorelai.

I am surprised by Lorelai's reaction to Rory saying she wanted to take time off. It sounds like something her parents would have told her. Besides, how many three year olds do you know who have decided their life's goal?

This is going to be a very looooooong Summer for us!

I thought it was weird that it was 8:59 and the episode was still going. Lorelei didn't propose to Luke until exactly 9:00 which means anyone who TiVo'd it missed that part.

I also agree that Lorelei shouldn't be telling Rory about how she dreamed about being a journalist since she was 3. I mean, doesn't she even have an option to change her mind? And points for Rory for saying Lorelei didn't even go to college so she shouldn't be giving her advice. Personally, I like that Rory is growing her own personality. She's always been best friends with her mom and I like to see Lorelei more in a parent position and Rory being more of a kid. But I really like Logan, too.....so what do I know!

Finally - I got to watch it -- and it was worth the wait. How will I stand waiting all summer. Well - I am sure I missed enough episodes that I will spend the summer catching up.

I was so touched when Rory went to her Grandfather and he tried to be distant and when she started to cry and went to him and he took her in his arms -- OH I just sobbed out loud. I touched me so much.

Do you think Lorelai will take that job? what about the house that Luke said he didn't want any more? was Logan's father just being an *** and talking out his butt - (what kind of sentance was that - but you know what I mean)

So many unanswered questions ---

BTW -- the Sookie baby thing last week -- did he really go get snipped right then and there? I can't believe they would make a choice like that so quickly -- it took months for DH to talk me into letting him get one.

I hope they pick up next season exactly where they left off and not like 3 months later and we have to guess for the first few minutes what happened.

Also, did I miss something about Lorelai taking this job? Was it mentioned in another episode that she was going to meet with this guy? All she has ever talked about is owning her own Inn and now she's thinking about selling? What about Sookie? She's her partner in it.

Loved when she proposed though. Too cute.

Yes, that seems very unbelievable to me also. I can't imagine any dr. preforming that type of surgery on a man just based on his wife's request having never met with the man about it.

I have to say that I can so see Loralei's point when dealing with Rory. I don't think she is upset that she doesn't want to be a journalist but she feels Rory is destined to be something great. She just can't imagine her having just an ordinary life. Rory belongs in college in her eyes. I feel so bad for Loralei .

Loved when Luke went out with the baseball bat when the bikers kept yelling "big hole"! That cracked me up .

Alot of people here are saying it's uncharacteristic of Rory to make this decision and abandon her "dream" of being a journalist.

but I disagree.

Rory has NEVER been criticized in her LIFE in regards to her education/intelligence. This is the first time she has ever been knocked down a few pegs...by an adult she idolizes. And THAT'S the problem - she idolizes him and is stuck on the fact that he is the 'biggest and the best' in the buisiness and 'what he says goes'. Which is complete bullcrap.

I think Rory just took her first bit of "constructive criticism" (which it really wasn't - he spoke in generalities...never told her 'exactly' what she wasn't doing right) to the nth degree and abandoned everything.

rory does everything to the nth degree...so I think this is normal of her. as much as I disagree with the grandparents decision (I've seen my friends take 'time off' from college...and never go back/abandon it/start the 13 year plan) i hope Rory finds herself soon

I was so down at the end of that show. When Lorelai was standing outside the pool house and saw Rory unpacking and then Rory looks up and sees her.....WOW. It was too sad. I had a strange epiphany of sorts watching tonight's show. I was completely on Lorelai's side about Rory quitting Yale and moving home. Usually I can see both sides but apparently I've crossed over to being mom first. Maybe it's because I have a 16 yr old but there is no way my child will quit school without me kicking and screaming, lol and I just felt like crying when Lorelai realized her parents weren't going to back her up. I don't believe that they're helping Rory do anything but hide and stepping between the mother-daughter relationship is just wrong. As parents they were clueless with Lorelai; why would they be any better with Rory?

Lorelai seemed to have her own epiphany as well at the end when she realized (finally) just how much Luke loves her and vice versa. I never thought she was serious about selling her inn but was sort of flirting with the possibility of a different life. After the trouble with Rory it seemed she realized what was really important to her and decided it was Luke and Star's Hollow.

I've read that Lauren Graham has said next season will be her last so I wonder what they'll do to sort of close the story. If Rory returns to Yale (hopefully), she will only be in her junior year. I reallly, really hope there is no plan to marry Rory and Logan - yuck!

Once again, Stink, I am in complete agreement with you. Who listens to only ONE person and makes a life altering decision based on that ONE person? A little unrealistic, I think.

Same here. I think she wants Rory to have everything she didn't. Including the Ivy League education she missed out on when she got pregnant. I can certainly see why Lorelai was so upset about Rory wanting to leave Yale. And she's right about losing momentum if you leave college. Most people say they will go back and never do. It's a lot easier to leave than to go back. It's a show though, so maybe she'll end up back at school. But in real life it ain't that easy

ITA! (except for the Logan bit since I really like him ) But about her parents...man they really made me mad! But it doesn't surprise me that they turned their backs on Lorelai and let Rory move in without consulting her first. I used to think Rory was so mature but it seems like she's really screwing up this season. (And I think it all started when she had slept with Dean who I hate but we wont go there ) I hope things change next season since it'll probably be the last one But Lorelai proposed and she had BETTER not back out of it...her and Luke belong together

You are EXACTLY right. Rory has always been the best at everything she does. And for someone to tell her she's not good at something...it really freaked her out a lot.

I have to go back and read at least the last few pages of this thread.

I thought last night's episode was great. Kirk getting ready to tow the Jeep while they were parked in it. Mrs. Kim saying Lane couldn't quit the band because Lanes dont' quit, and setting up the whole tour.

I was so mad for Lorelai when her parents went back on their word.

I loved Luke for his whole Rory's staying in Yale rant.

Happy to see others who love the show as much as I do.

Has anyone watched the WB this weekend...they've been advertising the Gilmore Girls in this tiny box and this is what they are saying....

Also Sams Club has all of the seasons DVD's (1, 2, 3) for sale for 37.00 is this a good deal?

I agree with Stinkerbelle too! Rory has never really had to endure any type of criticism from an adult....everyone has always loved her and she usually got what she wanted. Here was someone telling her she couldn't do it...and what is amazing to me is that she believed him!!!! ..especially coming from the world she comes from (ultra rich grandparents basically having everything she wants etc...I thought she would have had more of a fighting spirit...she is her mothers daughter and we know Lorlei would never go down without a fight.

Felt so bad about the grandparents not cluing Lorelei in...so very sad...kind of reminded me of me and my DD...and believe me I've learned 1st hand...grandparents will do anything to keep their grandkids around...especially one they love so much.

I hope Lorelei wasn't proposing out of deperation as she sees her world crumbling...she was basically left with no one but Luke...
and what is up with her wanting to sell the inn...wasn't it Lukes money that got her up on her feet? Or did she pay him back and I missed it??

Loved the big man scene with the bikes...made me laugh!

I found one thing really interesting in the show last night - the contrast of Lorelai and Mrs. Kim

Lorelai is the one most would have always thought was the better mom - she had a better relationship than Mrs. Kim with her daughter but when it came down to the adult parenting -

it was Mrs. Kim who dealt better with the situation - she had spent her life parenting Lane and knew that she had been tough when a parent should be (even inf Lane rebelled - in the end - it was her mom that she turned to) and now Lane needed her in a new way and she was there for her and came through

Lorelai on the other hand had really been Rory's best friend not her parent and when it came down to adult parenting - she couldn't do it - the whole scene where she set the kitched up as a jail and she refused to listen to Rory when she told her about Yale - she just couldn't be the parent Rory needed - she actually acted a little more like Mrs. Kim had - her way or the highway - when what we expected was a little more of what Mrs. Kim actually did for Lane - Rory really needed Lorelai to listen to her and talk about it but she didn't she just shut down on her

I think it is somewhat natural for someone to question her goals when someone tells you they aren't realistic and Richard and Emily decided it was better to listen to Rory and encourage her to stay responsible and be there for her in the raw emotion of the moment and when the smoke has cleared from Rory's head they will help her find her way

Wow that is a very astute observation j&n's mom. I had almost forgotten about Mrs. Kim and her "all girl tambourine band." That cracked me up! Maybe she will confess to Lane about some "wild party days" in the past haha , now THAT would be a great storyline. Last nite's episode was one of my favorites, partly because they took you through all of the emotions. I can't wait to see what happens next! September hurry up!!

Rory really was acting like a spoiled brat. She didn't want mom to actually be a mom so she went running to grandma and grandpa. I expected more of her. But man, if that had been me that stole a yacht...my parents would not have joked it off like it wasn't a big deal. I remember getting caught skipping school in 9th grade...man, mom and dad came down on me HARD. I can't imagine what they would do if I stole a yacht
